The Black King ramen was better than any ramen I tasted in Japan. I opted for heavy garlic and light oil and salt, and added an onsen egg. The original order does not come with egg. I equally like the complimentary bean sprout which was soaked with sesame oil and black pepper and salt. All the food leaned towards heavy flavor. I've also tried the chicken karage and pot stickers on another occasion and they were also legit. We usually try to come earlier on weekend evening like around 5:30, and the wait would be anywhere from 30 mins to 90 mins. Hard to gauge but anticipate at least 30 mins wait. With more restaurant options popping up at the mall such as Asia Live and Taier and Kajiken I think the crowd will thin out.

    Oh Ramen Nagi~ The line always seems to be long, but it's hard to beat a solid bowl of ramen! I've been here a few times now and always leave satisfied. My partner and I got in line and waited about 25 minutes to get into the restaurant. The staff is very efficient and it seems that they have a good system in place for accomodating so many people so quickly. We were greeted while we were in line by Ro, who always seems to have a smile on her face and a wonderful, welcoming energy. If it's your first time, they do a great job at walking you through the options for your ramen. You mark your preferences for your ramen on a sheet of paper that they give you while you are in line, so that you are ready to order by the time you sit down. Our food was ready quickly, and I love that they keep a pitcher of water on the table for your convenience! They have a few ramen dishes that are always featured, but sometimes will feature limited time items that you can try. We've had the Green King before (definitely recommend -- it's awesome), Black King seems to be the go-to for me, and today we were lucky to try the Garlic King -- a limited time menu item. Both were of our ramen were delicious, each ingredient crafted with love. I enjoy the thinly sliced chashu, but definitely prefer the kakuni. And don't sleep on the bean sprouts that are sitting on the table with your various spices! They add a really nice refreshing & umami touch to the overall meal. I'll be back whenever I can convince my partner to wait in line again (which doesn't come easy, let me tell you~), but he was quite happy with our meal today so fingers crossed that day comes sooner than later. After our visit today, it's possible that he thinks the ramen is worth the wait (;

There's always a line to dine here, so we took advantage of summer break and arrived about 10 minutes before opening on a weekday. The wait was much more reasonable, and we were seated right away. Before being seated, you're given a form to customize your ramen exactly to your liking, including broth richness, saltiness, spice level, noodle texture, and toppings. Once seated, the staff quickly confirms your selections and gets your order started. The process is very efficient and clearly designed to keep things moving. Service is quick and straightforward. While the staff isn't especially warm or chatty, they are attentive and managing multiple tables at once. The restaurant itself feels a bit too small for its popularity. I do appreciate the decor and atmosphere, but be prepared to sit very close to other diners, and you may even share a table with another party during busy times. Overall, the customizable ramen and efficient service make it worth the visit.

Had been to this place for ramen several times. We have gone through the whole menu. My favorite is the green king, the flavor of basil and cheese is a delight. The staffs are friendly and sufficient and when they noticed I wore a white T-shirt, I was offered a one-time use bib to keep my white T-shirt clean while enjoying the ramen. The good tip to keep you from waiting too ling in the line is come before it opens or later after peak hour.

Came here right away during lunch yesterday with coworkers there was surprisingly a small line when we got here, wait was about 10 mins probably. This is probably my third time trying it out and I must say I don't know what the hype and craze is all about with ramen nagi. While waiting the worker up front in the line handed out papers and a marker to mark out what you wanted for your bowl and other things, I got the original king, light salt, and normal everything. To be honest the ramen isn't all that here the flavoring just didn't taste like ramen. I rather go to HiroNori Ramen. Staff and ambience is great. In the end I wouldn't want to wait in a long line if it ever happens for some mediocre ramen like that.

As a big ramen person, i'd say this is on the sweeter side. I do love the customizations they allow and their soup is richer than other places. I have tried most of the things on their menu and their appetizers don't disappoint. While there is always a line the wait goes by pretty fast and I love how as soon as you sit you order. The staff is very endearing and always make sure even your water is full.

I haven't been to ramen nagi in a cool min. The line is always so long so it deters me from going. I was craving ramen so bad so I thought why not? I timed it and it took 1 hour 5 mins to get seated. I appreciate their efficient process. They hand out a paper menu and a pen to fill out customizations on ramen preference along with figuring out how many people are per party. We got seated at a shared table. It's a bit crowded in the restaurant since it's so small. I do want them to expand so there's more space. I got the red king with kakuni pork and an egg. I love adding the side of bean sprouts as well. I got level 7 and felt like it wasn't that spicy :o I definitely want to try level 9 next time!

When my ramen-savvy friend told me that Ramen Nagi is her favorite ramen in the US, I knew we had to come here for our next get-together. We braved the line at 11:30 AM, which by that time, had already snaked its way around the corner. While we waited, a server came by to explain the ordering process and handed us order sheets to create our custom bowls. I followed my friend's lead and ordered the Red King (spicy) with thick noodles, chashu, and spice level 6. We also split a plate of chicken karaage. We ended up waiting in line for about 40-45 minutes before getting seated at the bar. Upon being seated, our chicken karaage was immediately served, followed by our bowls of ramen five minutes later. I have no idea how our food was prepared so quickly - and it would have been nice to have a few more minutes to enjoy the chicken karaage appetizer - but everything tasted super fresh. The chicken karaage was hot and perfectly crispy, and it was lightly glazed in a slightly sweet sauce. The Red King ramen delivered a strong kick with a hot but not overly aggressive spicy broth, and the noodles were perfectly-cooked to an al-dente texture. To my surprise, the ramen was topped with a meatball in addition to the chashu. Each slurp of broth and noodles was superb, but about halfway through, the heat was starting to build up. We were in and out of the restaurant in less time than we spent waiting for a seat. When we left the restaurant, the line outside had grown substantially and wrapped even further around the corner.

My go to ramen spot in San Jose- it is always consistent! the line is always long but to be expected if you are willing to wait. It is definitely not a place to linger around and take it slow. The ordering process is very easy and the staff is very helpful in line if you need help. Once you get seated they take the paper and serve you almost immediately. I love the spicy red king, I always opt for the level 10 -wish they had it spicier. if you want to add on more noodles, you definitely can. The tables are quite tight and small which is the only thing I don't like.

Went to Ramen Nagi on a weekend morning and it was already pretty busy. The line moved fairly fast, but I still had to wait around 15 minutes. I've heard so many good things about this place, so I went in with high expectations. The ordering system is kind of fun since you can customize everything, which I liked. The ramen itself was decent, but honestly not as good as I expected. The broth was a bit heavier than I prefer and overall it didn't really stand out to me compared to other ramen spots I've tried. It's still a solid option if you're at Valley Fair and craving ramen, but I don't know if I would go out of my way for it again.

Been wanting to try this super-popular spot (or the Palo Alto one) for a while, but wasn't willing to stand in a 40-person line for it because I'm old and tired. Walking by on a Tuesday at lunchtime though, we noticed the line was short and made a decision to side-quest the ramen. The line did move fast; a friendly staff person walks it with a menu and a pre-printed order sheet, so you've ordered before you sit down. She gave us some tips on favorites, customizing the bowl, etc. You can choose richness of broth, amount of garlic, heat of sauce, meat (chashu or pork belly or none), garlic level, noodle thickness etc. We both went for Original King tonkatsu, thin noodles, regular broth richness, regular spice, cabbage, chashu. I went with light garlic. The broth was very savory and rich, glad I didn't go for any extra richness! Noodles were springy and delicious, fernbrake was a nice surprise. The chashu was extra good, very thin sliced and tender. The spice level was just right for what I ordered. Next time I might go for the "Red King" spicy broth. Or the Veggie King which has hash brown patties instead of chashu. Service was super quick, very businesslike, which is all part of the authentic-feeling vibe (note: I am a white lady who has not been to Japan so all impressions are strictly vicarious). Prices were very reasonable for the quality of the ramen, which was another bonus. Would I wait an hour for this ramen at peak hours? Mmmm... probably not? But that's more about me and standing in lines than about the quality. Overall a very satisfying broth, noodle and meat experience.

Ah yes Ramen Nagi. The service is fast and efficient. The ambiance is simple and nice. The food is savory and delicious! I definitely recommend this spot and to get in early, there is always a line, but it actually isn't too bad of a wait. I got the pesto ramen which was quite delicious! The staff will also look out for you and help you choose the proper saltiness and what noodles go best with what broth. Id definitely recommend this place and definitely going back someday ahha

Hands down one of my favorite ramen place ever in America. Lines can be long depending on the time of day and day of week but it's worth the wait. I always get the Red King - level depends on my mood from 5-10. It's not too spicy either, just enough. The pork belly is my fave but the chashu isn't bad either. But I'd say try the pork belly! Their eggs are always made to perfection and same goes for the noodles (extra thin please!) also don't forget to try the pepper bean sprouts- so yummy! Service is really fast, once you sit down you get your food within a few minutes. It can get pretty crowded and loud but you're still able to talk and hear. If you want you can get bibs so you don't spill on your shirt lol. I wish they sold merch, because I want a one of their shirts or zip ups!! Hopefully they'll start offering that soon. Would definitely recommend this place if you like creamy and rich broth. Never disappoints and very consistent!

Ask the Community - Ramen Nagi

Do the broths have dairy in it?

The Vegi has Dairy in broth. The Black king has yogurt sauce in the toppings and the Green king has parmigiana cheese.

Can they accommodate large parties or take reservations for such?

You need to call the place. Their indoor is a small space but they have more seating for their outdoor and they have heating provided.

    Do they accept cash?

    Cashless payments only

Food looks good. Any alcohol though?

My family and I ate there recently and there was no alcohol on the menu. Otherwise I would have ordered some saki for sure. The food and service is amazing though! I highly recommend!

The gyoza here were really awesome, but the past 3 times over the past few months each time I have gone they have no had gyoza. Do they still do gyoza here?

    Yes they do

    Can you order to go?

no, but this place allows you to take leftovers home from what I remember

    Are dogs allowed?

    Nope

Do all the broths pork based?

No, they have a vegetarian broth.

I have a nut allergy and some ramens use peanut oil. Is this ramen place nut free?

My daughter is also nut and seafood allergy, she had ramens at Ramen Nagi many times, she was fine every time. And she loves ramen :)

Are the bean sprouts back yet?

They were there when I went today, 09/26/2022. No pickled mustard though.

Hey, does anyone know what the menu looks like? I couldn't see it in the 200 pics of it on Yelp. Can someone take another one? This is sarcasm.

They hand you a menu that you mark up when you stand in line. You basically have the choice between…

Does anyone know what the wait is on a weekday night?

Can range between 20mins to one hour.

What is their phone number? I'd like to order takeout.

Hey, Ramen Nagi in Santa Clara does not currently offer take out. They only have an email address for inquiry though: info@ramennagiusa.com

Are there any gluten free options?

    Don't think so

    To go option?

No, they don't do to go or take out. Even during the height of the pandemic when many restaurants shifted to take out options, Ramen Nagi apparently didn't want to sacrifice quality so they stayed closed instead of offering take out.

When will the sprouts and cabbage condiments come back?

    They are back now

Do they still accept cash? just wondering because some of the other places nearby were only accepting card/online forms of payment.

    Yes they accept cash :)

How long do you have to wait on a Saturday around 6?

Prepare to wait upwards to 2 hours.

When should I start getting in line on a Sunday dinner?

My friend said he waited 2 hours

Are dogs allowed at Ramen Nagi?

    Only service dog

Yay! This past experience when I went, I also tried one of their ramens. I'm not a big fan of ramen from past experience simply because I feel like the broth is too heavy and sodium filled. However, the ramen I tried, it's been a while so I'm not super clear on which bowl I tried. I believe it to be the tonkotsu shio ramen. It was life changing, this was the place that made me actually consider the possibility of enjoying this dish. It was so warm and fulfilling. Not just the temperature but just the broth just felt very fulfilling and comforting. I think I would be open to trying more of the types of ramen throughout my next visits. The service is always good, not exceptional, but good. The lady that took my order was very patient with me and nice, I appreciated that. The ambiance is of that of a food court because it is located within the food court section of the market but I think it's nice how the tables are set up and I also appreciate that dining in makes everything mostly eco-friendly as the plates and dishes are all reusable. Oh! I am delightfully full! The rich umami broth really sets this place apart from others. What I…read morereally like about this place is that one may customize the menu depending on dietary concerns (vegan, lactose-free, shellfish allergens etc.), but however one customizes, the quality is fort-rate. Our party consisted of family and friends who had differing dietary concerns, but we were each able to eat delicious ramen without any worries. We started out with some appetizers - the Karaage Chicken and the Umami cucumber. The chicken had a nice crunch, yet the meat was juicy and tender! Nice! I appreciate the matcha salt that came with the chicken, as it added a little extra flavor to the chicken. And the umami cucumbers were joyfully crisp, with a slightly sweet soy sauce base, the sesame seeds and the bonito flakes on top adding to the umami. I ordered the Sukiyaki Beef Ramen - something unique, and it is not listed on the colorful poster on the door, nor was it listed on the menu card on the table. It caught my eye, though, when I ordered using the QR code. I felt like this was something on a secret menu or something . . . I was in heaven! The sukiyaki beef was tender and flavorful with that sukiyaki sweetness, and it perfectly balanced the saltiness of the broth. Oh, darn! I forgot to take a photo of the bowl of ramen!! Oops! Well, as I mentioned at the start of this review, I was delightfully full at the end, especially since I just could not leave perfectly delicious broth in the bowl. Good enough to drink as a soup! I must say, however, that when this place first opened, I was not impressed. And when I ate here two years ago, I was equally unimpressed. Today, however, I am blown away! Whatever they changed really is for the better. They have found their footing and Hinodeya Ramen Bar has matured into a wonderful place for ramen.
