The Karaage is crispy but not overdone. Slightly heavy in the batter. I would say on the slightly small side but it was still filling. They also have lots of sushi on the menu and donburi as well. Solid ramen (and sushi) place inside the 1st Avenue Marketplace strip mall. This restaurant is on the lower level, facing the S side of the parking lot. I was always leery of trying this place until now for some reason, but I am glad I did. Parking here is plentiful. Rejoice. Inside is the typical Japanese theme, with light coloured walls and dark wood. I suspect the staff here are Korean, not Japanese. Not a big deal, but worth mentioning. The waitress recommended the Black ramen (includes charcoal bits). I got the chashu (pork) option. For those who eat more, I would recommend getting a noodle refill for a few dollars more. Fresh and tasty. Includes soft boiled egg, grilled garlic, some seaweed sheets, and some other stuff (fungus?). Decent taste. First time here. I ordered the cold noodle dish. The noodles were yummy, chewy and springy. I ordered the "Sashimi Ramen combo" . For an extra $10.50 they give you 2 pieces of salmon and 2 pieces of tuna. However I was quickly disappointed when the sashimi came. They now have 3 veggie ramens: a regular ($14.95), a black (with garlic sauce; $15.95), and a red (with Korean spicy gochujang sauce; $15.95). If you order with rice noodles, they're all vegan. I did the black veggie and made it spicy (+$0.50). My soup came out in about 10 minutes. The portion is not huge, but the broth is so rich and you do get enough if you're not famished. The broth is decadent, with a very intense black garlic character that, in my opinion, relies too much on garlic oil (there is a lot of oil in this thing), but complements the soymilk-based broth well. For toppings, you get a bit of broccoli, sweetened fried tofu skin, bamboo shoots, bean sprouts, black fungus, and green onion. The rice noodles aren't totally cohesive with the ramen, but at least there's a vegan option. Again, too oily -- I'd go for the regular veggie ramen next time and spice it up. Recommended. read more

This restaurant is a hidden gem! We ordered the black ramen and the kara miso along with karaage for appetizer. The broths were flavourful and we were really impressed with the noodle to topping ratio. The karaage was very crispy and slightly sweet (most likely sweet potato flour) and went very well with the Chipotle citrus sauce. I was quite surprised when we parked in the First Avenue plaza Although the restaurant was busy and there was only 1 server, she was attentive and tried to serve us as soon as she could Our meals were served quite quickly! I've tried 3 of their ramen flavours and they've all been top notch! My favourite thus far is the Kara Miso, which packs a perfect amount of heat and rich umami flavour. The broth of the Black ramen is delicious and full-bodied, as well. I would highly recommend getting the karaage instead of the chashu, as it is the best karaage I've ever had. You can order it as a side dish, too. My only comment is that I would prefer for the karaage to be served separately so it doesn't get soggy. Lovely hidden gem! read more

This ramen is absolutely delicious. This place is amazing, it's kind of a hole in the wall spot, it's a small restaurant, maybe seating for 20 people? I got the black ramen with pork and my friend got fried chicken on top. The pork was soft and yummy, the broth was rich in flavor. Usually I don't drink the Broth but I finished the whole ramen. I came here as I was in the area working and read good things about the ramen. The decor is pleasant and there are several tables inside. I ordered the black tonkatsu ramen with chashu, egg and seaweed. It tasted quite good, I would say it's on par in terms of taste with other great ramen places in the Vancouver area. What I was a bit disappointed with was I felt it was a small portion. It came up to only half the depth of the bowl. I also got added bean sprouts so for $16 I felt I didn't get really good value. Second dinner with our Ozzy friend in town. He wanted ramen so I suggested we try Fuku Ramen. It's located in the basement/lower parking area of the T&T Supermarket plaza. Appears that this place is Korean run. We dropped in on a Wednesday evening (around 6:20pm) and were greeted to an empty restaurant. A bit surprising but seems like most people were ordering Skip the Dishes/takeout. The inside is clean and cute with chalkboard drawings along the walls. There's only 6 tables (22 seats). Our server was a bit shy but she came by several times to refill our teas. The menu is two pages; appetizers, tempura, donburi, sides and ramen. One of the few places I've seen that offers a vegetable ramen. - 2x Black ramen ($11.50) - special roasted onion and garlic sauce with two cha-shu slices, vegetables and egg. I tried a sip of B's broth; it's light on the black garlic front. She liked that the bowl came with bean sprouts, woodear mushroom and bamboo shoots. Also a nice touch that they give you two types of cha-shu to try. - Cha-shu ($11.50) - four pieces of cha-shu with vegetable and half an egg. I went with the tonkotsu broth. Noodles were passable but I wanted mine firmer and bouncier. Broth wasn't particularly heavy or creamy for a tonkotsu but it lacked some finesse. The cha-shu slices was the best part; tasty, tender and good portions. Half egg was decent. - Ramen combo ($4.50) - I was starving since I hadn't ate all day so I decided to combo up my bowl with a BBQ salmon rice. You only save $0.50 off the regular price which is lame. This was mediocre at best. Sauce was too sweet. Not worth the price or stomach space. Tried it today because it's been on the bucket list for a while. I pass by everytime I go to T&T. Unfortunately it's really not worth it if you're a vegan- I mean come on, $14.25 for a vegan ramen? Both of the ramen were awesome. I would literally give 10/10 for that right away. Full of toppings, soup was very very VERY testy. The biggest surprise was the salmon oshi. My family made our way here for lunch. It is located in the 1st ave T&T Supermarket plaza. Be warned, parking is really challenging depending on time of day. There is street parking around the plaza if you do not mind walking a short distance. I ordered the Black Ramen as I have been enjoying garlic flavour lately. The noodles had a nice chew. The soft boiled marinated egg was perfect. The broth was pretty good. I just wished it had a slightly stronger garlic kick. The chashu was thick and fatty. I would have preferred larger, thinner slices of chashu. The chashu was melt in your mouth tender. The portion size is good for the price. You do not find many places that still sells a bowl of ramen for under $11 with an egg included. Average price for ramen these days run around $14-15 if you look at Metrotown or Downtown. Service was friendly. They have kids size bowls and utensils for sharing. It was great since there were two toddlers in the group. Overall, I think this restaurant is worth visiting if you like ramen. There is also a small selection of sushi too. I decided to try a new ramen place since I always end up going to the same ones, knowing they're good. Unfortunately, I should've stuck with my usual routine of visiting a ramen shop I was already familiar with :( The joint itself was relatively small, like every other ramen joint. I think the waitress was Korean? The menu is relatively standard and price points are comparable to every other ramen joint (~$10/Bowl). I opted for the black (Garlic) ramen $11.50 and we also ordered the chicken karaage. The bowls were quick to come but unfortunately the ramen noodles were overcooked (waaay too soft :( ) and the broth lacked depth (I couldn't really even taste the garlic). The chicken karaage had a nice texture and was juicy, however, it wasn't served with Japanese mayo when it first arrive and after trying to wave down our server (in the small joint), she gave us tempura sauce for the karaage :| . The server was inattentive, not asking how the food was, did not refill our teas and seemed to want us out of there (even though there was one hour till closing). Overall, the 2 stars was for the chicken karaage alone but I will definitely not be back and I definitely do not recommend this place to any other ramen lover read more

I really wanna like this place, but I think it needs to have a lot of improvement.. although the ramen is so good (I got the black ramen), but it takes too long for our order to come mainly because there's only one server in the restaurant and one kitchen staff (it's a open kitchen). She's the only one serving, taking orders and taking to-go orders. She's still very welcoming and very smiley even though for sure she's struggling to juggle everything altogether. Also the ventilation is not good so prepare to smell like fried garlic after you eat from the restaurant! Surprisingly good ramen at an unassuming location at the T&T complex. This is a small, casual restaurant that serves ramen, donburi and a few side dishes. The decor is pretty basic but it's clean and good enough for a quick meal. Not very busy the two times I've come here but they seem to do quite a few takeout orders. I ordered the black ramen, which had a flavourful broth. It's quite heavy and rich which I personally enjoyed. I think one of their strong points is their char siu; they are pretty generous and the bowl comes with two different types of pork. The noodles weren't the best but decent. The egg could be improved as it was overly salty both times I've come here and overdone. However at the price point it is really worth the money and the portion size is reasonable. I'd probably steer away from the salmon donburi. It is really basic. It's just some cooked salmon with a teriyaki like sauce. I wouldn't recommend this. Gyoza was also very standard; these two dishes definitely aren't the specialties of the restaurant. The service is always very good; there is a nice and friendly waitress that is always coming around to refill tea and check up on us. It seems from the other reviews that this place is not Japanese run but they do a pretty job!
