We came here in the middle of the Kona storm on March 14, 2026. After walking and hopping fences bc our road was closed for 45 minutes in the rain, we were so happy to have found this place was open. We ordered the garlic Ramen and the spicy beef Ramen and the chicken Katsu. We don't have any pictures because our phones were dead from no electricity from the storm, and the folks were so nice they let us charge phone at the counter. The portions are humongous. We were shocked, even though we were super hungry since we haven't had any real food for almost 24 hours, we could only eat half of the food. Granted we order three plates for two people, but still. And even at dinner, we couldn't finish the leftovers because it was just very filling. The flavors are really good. I didn't expect to have dined here, but I'm glad that we did. For how busy they were, they were very attentive and apologize for just slightly longer wait times. But honestly for such a crazy rain storm, it was so wonderful to have them be open! It's a simple restaurant in a plaza with a Safeway. Nothing fancy, but also not really a hole in the wall either. It's not a particularly trendy or a cute place, but it does the job. Nice to have a Ramen place near my workplace. I took my break mid afternoon around 2 pm and had the place to myself so I got my food real fast. I usually go for the Ramen Combo that includes a mini Ramen (or udon if you prefer) and a side of your choice. Because it's mini, it comes with green onions and a Chashu (slice of Pork) only. You can choose between Tantan, Tonkotsu, or Black Garlic Broth to name a few. I love me some Garlic but I was still working so I opted for Tonkotsu and added an egg. The seasonings are a great enhancer to pair with if you want to add some Spicy Oil, Garlic or Vinegar. The gyoza is also my go to side dish. I do love the Pork Fried Rice and also Mini Curry as well is work getting. If you like beef, the Beef Gyodon bowl is tasty with thin slices of beef and egg on top rice. Chicken Katsu Curry is good too. I always prefer Curry on side to keep that Katsu crunch. If I want a boba, I'll usually get a Honeydew (you can also get them blended) over Ice but I went for the Fresh Lemonade. They did a Honey wall inside the cup and added slices of Lemon. It had a few ice in it but I prefer light ice anyhow. Overall a comforting place for some ramen fix in Central Maui. read more

it's a great spot in Kihei in a perfect location. Easy to get to and plenty of parking. Most of the reviews love this restaurant and that's great. My opinion is based on the broths. We had four different soup types and they were all good and hit the spot, but didn't have particularly spectacular taste. And it wasn't piping hot. I can see why it may be popular though. I like they have such a wide variety of broth types, ranging from Tonkotsu to Curry to Black Garlic to Won Ton. Which you can get in either ramen or udon. And they have even more dishes like rice plates and tempura and even more. But maybe I'm used to restaurants that focus their attention and expertise on fewer dishes. Service was fine. If you've taken a look through our page (pretentious to say, we know) then you know we eat A LOT of ramen. We wanted to try out what Hawaii has to offer so we stopped by Ramen Bones to see what they got. Parking is available so getting to the restaurant isn't difficult at all, the inside of the restaurant is also clean and service is good. The menu is solid with multiple ramen offerings and appetizers though I will say the price for the food here is a bit higher than I've seen at places on the mainland. For food we ordered tonkotsu and spicy shoyu ramens. From the first sip the broth was delicious, very flavorful and not thick with fat like some other places. The noodles were chewy and just the right texture. The chasu was good, not the best, but good. The biggest miss was the egg. The egg here is just a regular hard boiled egg, not ajitama which threw us off a bit. Beyond that the rest of the toppings were good. Overall, the food was pretty good for what we initially went in expecting. If you like ramen and you're in the area this may be the spot for you. read more

The Unadon was sooo good, perfectly grilled and flavorful, with just the right amount of sauce. The chicken fried noodles were a total hit with the kiddos, super tasty and not too heavy, which was perfect. Only thing I didn't love was the mini curry plate. I was on my way to Walmart to stock up for some snacks when I needed a quick easy dinner. Tucked away by the Home Depot, this little restaurant turned out to be a good choice. Very understated, many empty seats when we arrived around 6:30 pm on a Friday night. The ambiance was clean and casual. I had the Tonkotsu ramen and my husband had the chicken katsu curry. Service was friendly and efficient. When the food arrived, we were surprised by the portion size. Both dishes were tasty. The employees were very loud and talking amongst themselves. Another employee was crouched down behind the cash register cutting her nails. It really grossed me out hearing it! Food was ok, the soup base seemed a little too diluted. May need to revisit service standards with employees. We had dinner here on a Sunday night it was around 7pm and most places on Maui are closed down at this time. So we decided to come here and we're so glad we got to try this place out. We walked in and told the wait would be about 5-10 minutes long. She no problem so we decided to wait outside. They have a few chairs and a couple of benches which you can wait on. So we walked in and the place was really busy that's a good thing. We decided on choosing chicken Katsu, kim Chee Fried Rice and shrimp Tempura. Decided taste really good. The fried rice had a good kick to it out was to spicy for me. My niece chose the takoyaki and she enjoyed it. She ate it all by herself. The ambiance is it's really crowded in a small space. But the virus really do with very well and fast. They all work together. Oh and they have canned Pepsi products! That's a no for me! Bring in Coke products please! But we'll come back here again! Our daughter and her friends used to eat here when she was in high school. We decided to give it a try and were pleasantly surprised that prices were reasonable compared to elsewhere. There is ample parking in the Hookele Shopping Center lot. They serve ramen, curry, katsu, and other side dishes. There is usually a wait to get in, but they are quick at serving and delivering your food. The employees work hard to keep the food coming and the tables clean. The lady's here are all so rude! I would not return OR suggest this place! We asked for extra lemon they gave us two slices well we had a party of 4 so we asked for extra and the look on her face made us very uncomfortable. We said we would pay for it! Then they proceeded to talk about it among them self. The lady came back and said 1$ for half a lemon. We said yes they continued to make us feel uncomfortable giving us ugly looks! Not to mention when we asked for a side of bean sprouts the lady said 1$ ok we just want the side of bean sprouts. My family and I enjoyed a flavorful dinner at Ramen Bones in Kahului, on our recent trip to Maui. I was going to meet-up with a longtime friend, who was on a cruise of the Islands with his family. We decided to meet at Ramen Bones, since it wasn't far from where his cruise ship was docked. We were seated promptly upon entering and began to review the menu. I decided upon the Special Combo of a mini Miso Ramen and a 4-piece Gyoza. My wife had the Tonkotsu Ramen, while our son enjoyed his Charsiu Miso Ramen. The food was delicious and it all tasted really good. Service was quick and efficient. The restaurant was fairly packed, but everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves by the sound of all the "slurping". Parking was easy to find and close to the restaurant. Ramen Bones is Maui's newest ramen spot located at the Puunene Shopping Center and is just a few spots over from Planet Fitness. It's a small, tight space and so you'll often see people waiting outside for a table to open up. Despite this, the food comes out fast and tables turn over pretty quickly. The 'hype' has also seemed to calm down. Depending on when you go, I've never had to wait more than 10 minutes during non-peak hours. Their menu features ramen and a good amount of other options that include chicken katsu, beef curry, and much more. I usually opt for the special combo which seems to be the best deal if you want to try out a few other dishes. With this combo, you can get a mini size ramen and one or two choice of items. I always go with the black garlic broth with udon noodles, karaage chicken, and gyoza or fried rice. The first time I came, the black garlic broth was really delicious and had good flavor. The last few times wasn't as flavorful, but still good and usually adding some shoyu and their dried garlic that's provided on their tables did the trick. My other half would get the tan tan broth and it definitely isn't as rich as other places we've tried and pretty average overall. My favorite dish has to be the karaage chicken though. It's so flavorful and moist and also pairs well with the sauce that they provide, although I don' t think it even needs it. Their fried rice is also pretty good and I think will get better over time as their pans become more seasoned. All in all, the service is quick and it's a good value with the special combos. We'll definitely be back in the future when we're craving noodles. read more

First day arrived in Maui and my relatives invited me to try Ramen Bones. We went there straight from the airport at around 5:00pm. It was almost a full house with a couple of tables available. The restaurant itself was small to medium and the tables are close together. If someone pushed back their chair, it would bump the chair behind it. There are also chairs outside of their restaurant for guests waiting to be seated. This place does get busy during peak dinner hours. I ordered the Special Combo with tan tan ramen and choices of 2 side selections: karaage chicken and 4pc gyoza. The tan tan ramen was a $1 more to sub in place of their miso or shoyu ramen. Their tan tan ramen was alright. Not the best ramen I've tried the portion was a good size along with the size dishes. The ramen has a large, thick piece of char siu and green onions. The noodles were thick and firm which were good but the broth was heavy and thick with a grainy texture. The taste overall was ok but I would want a full portion of this ramen. The karaage chicken was good. It was thick cut pieces and fried perfectly. The gyoza was soft and it was pretty good in terms of the flavor. It wasn't pan fried enough so it was not crispy at all. My family also got the fish katsu which was very good. The katsu was crispy. They also got the mini pork fried rice which was good and filling. Maui's newest and sadly only second ramen shop opened on 5.31.23 in Puunene SC. The company is now officially a chain with this second location (other is on Oahu). ATMOSPHERE: Quarters are tight so you shouldn't try to bring in a party larger than 4 and leave your strollers in the car. No counter seating, only low tops. A semi-loud overhead radio station in turn made patrons speak even louder. RESERVATIONS: None taken. PARKING: Plenty of free parking. MENU: Combo sets, seafood & poultry dishes, noodles, ramen & udon, kid's menu. FOOD: Mini Pork Fried Rice - $10.50 One of the hallmarks of ramen shops is their fried rice. They usually have a distinctive yet subtle "grill-flavor" which I attribute to a well-seasoned pan. I did get a little of that here, so I'm positive as time goes on it'll get better. Peas, green onion & kamaboko also reside within. Karaage Chicken - $8.45 (5 pcs.) Light and airy batter, crispy and perfectly cooked, this was extremely good. A katsu sauce heavy on ketchup flavor accompanied, but I prefer mine drizzled with shoyu. Shrimp Tempura - $8.75 (4 pcs.) Whomever the cook is, props to them as this was another deep-fried winner. I'm pretty sure they were of the frozen variety but sure didn't taste like it. Gyoza - $6.95 (5 pcs.) Sadly these were out, whop wah wahhh... (sad sound effects) *Yay, they were available on our second visit. The wrappers were thinner than the norm (a plus in my book), averagely-stuffed with pork and had a nice char to the bottoms. Charsiu Shoyu Ramen - $15.95 Shoyu broth is my favorite. The posted pics didn't wow me, but I still had to try it first. It had an odd flavor & color; savory, a bit creamy but flat overall. The non-eggy, al dente noodles were of the thin, yellow variety like they use in chow mein or crispy noodle dishes and killed it for me. I'd prefer bean sprouts over the included bok choy, though the charsiu slices were really good; soft, a bit fatty and moist. Black Garlic Udon - $15.95 I had a sip of my spouse's bowl and damn, it was good! Bold flavors of savory & creamy. Definitely getting this next time. He did mention the egg was hard boiled vs. medium gooey. *Fast forward a few days and we were back. I ordered this exact same dish. Hmm, the broth was a lot weaker than my spouse's, a sign of inconsistency. While I'm not a fan of udon noodles in general, they simply did not marry well to the broth. Pass. SERVICE: We walked in at 1pm on a Monday to a packed house but got seated immediately. Water was dropped off soon after with the server a few ticks later. The food came out lightning quick but most importantly everything was hot and fresh. There was no follow up but it wouldn't be hard to flag down a worker as they're constantly buzzing by. TIP: Some reviewers mentioned an automatic 15% service charge but we weren't charged that. Perhaps they had a large party? OVERALL: Less than stellar ramen but favorable everything else. Located in a pretty nice area. We got the black garlic, tan tan, and spicy beef. All ramen bowls were a pretty nicely sized portion with reasonable prices. The broth was rich and not too salty. I've been watching their space with anticipation after noticing the new sign and "opening soon" on the door. Their official opening was today, and it was definitely worth the wait. I went around 4 pm and every table was full, but there weren't too many people waiting. I placed a takeout order and waited about 15 min for my food, not bad considering how busy they were; I hadn't called in advance because I wasn't sure what time I would be there but they do offer phone ordering. Online ordering is coming soon. They have a good variety of noodle dishes, with your choice of ramen or udon, as well as lots of other dishes including fried oysters, gyoza, tempura, fried rice, chicken katsu or karaage, mochiko chicken, gyudon, unadon, Japanese style curry, and more. There's a kids menu too. Prices are very reasonable. The space is small and it was very noisy inside, such that the cashier and I had a little trouble hearing each other, but it's clean and nicely put together. For me, this probably means I'll stick to takeout, at least for now. I got a combo, with spicy shoyu tonkotsu ramen, gyoza, and chicken katsu, all of which was delicious. The soup broth was well flavored and not too salty or too greasy, and the noodles were cooked just right. The spice level I would characterize as medium, but I like spicy and have a fairly high tolerance, so others might find it more like moderate (The spicy beef ramen/udon is the spiciest item on the menu according to the staff, so I may try that next time). The gyoza filling was great, a perfect balance of vegetables, meat, and seasonings, complemented by the dipping sauce, and the wrappers were delicate and tasty. They were beautifully browned on the flat side, adding to their flavor. Chicken katsu can be disappointing if not done properly, but that wasn't the case here: it was light, crispy, and delicious. 7/5/24- Our family stopped at Ramen Bones on our way to the Kahului airport in Maui. We ordered an 8 piece of Gyoza for the table and we each selected ramen bowls of our liking. The gyoza was just ok because the dough was slightly soft. The various ramens we ordered were the shrimp ramen, Spicy beef ramen and the Beef Sukiyaki. All of the ramen bowls were tasty and we thoroughly enjoyed them. The broth was tasty but our family tends to like spicier food so we used the additional spices provided on the table. House noodles sort of bland, but an addition of garlic from condiments rack and tabasco did the trick. Comes with some stir fried cabbage and shrimp. Fried oyster, can't go wrong. It's dipped in batter and panko. Was still juicy and crispy. Chicken kaarage was same. Very juicy and good portion. The rice was a tad hard, it was reminisce of rice in the cooker with the lid off. Tonkotsu is seved with green onions and two slices of pork. Broth is very porky and rich. Noodles were good too. Chicken katsu was meh, but add different texture when eating the ramen. Water is definitely tap, I can taste the tap. Lol. Straws upon request and drinks are only available by can. Food was delivering approximately 15 minutes after ordering during lunch hours. It wasn't too busy. Service was very prompt. They checked on the table once and offered refill of water. The service also "auctioned" the items when presenting it but made sure to place the items in front of us. Good portions, good ramen. It's a little pricey. They definitely "turn and burn" tables here so don't plan on camping out for too long. The space itself is not very big, and there is often a wait to be seated. It can get a little cramped. This is pretty much like Ramen Ya's fancy cousin. We needed a quick meal after picking up our car rental nearby. By quick, I mean it. Needed to be in and out in about 30 minutes to make it to our event. We walked in, were sat right away and ordered in the span of like 5 minutes. Food came out almost instantly. We ordered two tonkotsu ramens and French fries. Both were pretty standard. No complaints but not over the top amazing. It the best of the three ramen spots I was able to try on Maui, but does not compare to any mainland ramen I've had. I ordered the wonton udon noodle. For me soup noodles are all about the broth. Poor quality broth base is a non starter for me. The broth tasted like it was made from chicken flavored bouillon, which usually contains a fair bit of MSG. I was expecting to see a large stock pot of boiling chicken or pork bones being on fully display out in the open like traditional ramen shops because this place was called ramen bones, but I saw none of that. I avoided drinking the broth because it was so nasty and artificial tasting. Probably the worst tasting broth I have ever tasted in my life. Tasted similarly to an instant ramen packet. They also seated my group of 3 at a 2 person table so I had no where to put my legs and had to set the chair and extra foot away from the table so I had somewhere to put my feet. read more
