What a great place to celebrate my birthday! One of my favorite places in Maui for pho. Services spot on and they always try to remember your name. Nice touch. I will always go there.

This restaurant fulfilled our craving. Everything we ordered was enjoyed by all. We called in advance for fresh steamed fish. The restaurant served us a whole opakapaka. The owner/server had a sense of humor as he took our order. Pleasantly made us feel welcome. The restaurantis next to a motel and parking was somewhat sparce. Inside was very spacious, including a full bar. The location is out of the way from any resort but we'll worth the drive.

Casual and authentic! A Saigon Cafe is a local spot that keeps to its Vietnamese roots. The food is cooked with less salt, so definitely pair to taste! Taste: 4/5 Service: 3.5/5 Ambiance: 3.5/5 Value for money: 3.5/5 The go to dish tasted well: Brisket Pho special! The other dish which was a hor fun like noodle dish was okay!

Another one of our favorite restaurants on Maui. It's casual dining and they have indoor and outdoor seating available. Some of our go to is the Sautéed Shrimps, Crispy Chicken (Family Style) and Chef Long's Bok Choy. I like to have Thai Ice Tea with my meal. Good friendly service. Charlie works on Sundays who makes dining entertaining with his jokes. Must go when you're on the island.

#40, beef and pork vermicelli bowl. Pretty good!

I had the #40, Shredded Pork & Grilled Beef vermicelli bowl. I thought it was quite good and the bowl was quite full (and filling). There was no skimping of the meat here and I actually couldn't finish it all. We've eaten here several times on past trips and never have been disappointed. The owner/manager comes around and he's always a bit of a jokester but he's always also right on top of things too!

    Straight steak Pho. Delicious.

Papaya salad here is still great - just a wonderful flavor profile. Duck noodle soup was also good - huge duck leg. The pho broth was not our fave - not as complex a flavor as we've had elsewhere and was a bit too sweet. It had a generous portion of the meat though. We got the combo and there was lots of each.

Well, I was feeling Vietnamese food and was introduced to this very well established establishment. The food was delicious and well served. Customer service went far and beyond..even after I didn't receive my shrimp for my vermicelli bowl(but it came). And the ambiance was splendid. Great location with easy parking. Indoor and outdoor sitting..at the end of it all. I was plump and fulfilled. Great place to try when in Maui. I will be back.. Thank you-A Saigon Cafe!!!

Wherever I travel, finding a local pho joint is always a must, it's a staple in my diet! While visiting Maui, I noticed there aren't too many pho spots around, so I had to check this one out while in the area. Combination Pho: My go-to order. I'd rate it a 7.5/10. The broth had a darker color but, unfortunately, didn't pack the flavor I was hoping for. Missing that rich aroma and depth you usually expect from a solid bowl of pho. Seasoning was just okay. On the plus side, the noodles to meat ratio was pretty decent, and once you add your sauces, it's had an ok bite. Spring Rolls: These were big and visually appealing, 8/10. The filling was a little on the mushy side with a heavy vermicelli base, but the dipping sauce helped balance it out. Not bad at all. Grilled Pork Chop: Now this was the winner of the meal, 9/10! Super tender with a delicious smoky char. Came with rice and veggies, making it a well rounded and flavorful dish. Would definitely order this again. Overall Take: The food was decent, not mind blowing, but there were some hits. The grilled pork chop stood out, and the pho just needed a little more love in the broth. On the bright side, our server was friendly, funny, and made the experience even better. Would I come back? Hmmm, maybe for that pork chop.

Tofu curry lemongrass... It's just tofu coated in curry... No Sauce...

Came here before and the food was awesome. Came here a few years later and what a difference. In the bad way. Clay pot was just warm soup, the sauce wasn't caramelized. The mushrooms were still raw! Same for tofu curry, they didn't even cook it long enough to make the tofu hot! And the onions were raw, it actually hurt to eat it. I hope their old cook was just out for the day. Ambiance is old diner style but clean. Seats are harder than they look. Service was fast tho. I am ok with the quick and gruff Asian service but my partner did not like it one bit. Took the menus away while we were still looking at the drinks after we ordered the food. I was like cool, now I don't need to spend $9 on Thai tea. The parking is in the same lot as an apartment? So be careful and make sure to park on the restaurant side by the dumpster. Yep.

    Spring rolls, absolutely delicious

We made sure to pay a visit on our first free lunch day! Of course, coming during the lunch rush we had to wait for maybe 20 minutes outside before getting a table for 4. Longest 20 minutes of my life LOL! Paid off though when we finally got seated! Ordered the usual suspects: -Dry Noodles (Dry Mein) ($18.95) - DOUBLE sized for 2! Or one Hungry Hawaiian HA! -Cheeseburger Deluxe ($5.95) -French Fries with Mustard/Mayo ($5.95) -BBQ Stick (Beef and Chicken) ($3.75 each) -Manju ($1.25 each) -Turnovers ($1.85 each) I was so hungry I forgot pics of half my order! Shared the Dry Noodles with my Mom but honestly I ate 75% of that double order LOL! Just as awesome as I remember - just needed a dash of the soup, splash of shoyu, dab of Tabasco, and a lot of cracked black pepper! Ugh, so ONO! The Cheeseburger Deluxe and French Fries were honestly not gourmet, but the nostalgia factor brings it up a notch for me. Don't forget to dip into their Mustard/Mayo mix, it's a game changer! The BBQ Sticks were a little overdone this time but I'll let it slide because I do love that char on the edges. And you can't leave without having a manju and turnover (or 2....of each LOL) for dessert! Not much has changed at Sam Sato's over the decades (except maybe the prices, they went up!) and that's the way we like it! Old schoo for an old foo like ME!

We were shocked, even though we were super hungry since we haven't had any real food for almost 24 hours, we could only eat half of the food. Granted we order three plates for two people, but still. And even at dinner, we couldn't finish the leftovers because it was just very filling. The flavors are really good. I didn't expect to have dined here, but I'm glad that we did. For how busy they were, they were very attentive and apologize for just slightly longer wait times. But honestly for such a crazy rain storm, it was so wonderful to have them be open! It's a simple restaurant in a plaza with a Safeway. Nothing fancy, but also not really a hole in the wall either. It's not a particularly trendy or a cute place, but it does the job. There's plenty of parking in the plaza that's free and then the restroom is also easily accessible and well kept.

I really love katsu, so I got the Pork Katsu plate, which comes with a scoop of rice and your choice of side (I chose potato salad). I loved the crispiness of the pork katsu, it came nice and hot. The Japanese rice was carb heavy, just how I love it. The potato salad was good, although I typically crave a macaroni salad with my Hawaiian plated food. There was a huge line when I arrived, and I was afraid, very afraid. However, it was a bunch of people standing around who had already ordered (another sometimes bad sign). But, I actually ordered without any line, and those people quickly dissipated. My food probably came within 10 mins. In that 10 mins, we ate the poke first, then got our Ichiban order quickly after. The two restaurants are so close together by driving, that I would highly recommend pairing the two restaurants together, if you want to share food items, and try different Hawaiian things, without making an extra trek. Would definitely recommend it right after getting off the airplane too! I can't say it was worth driving here all the way from Kaanapali though, since there's nowhere to sit down. There's a parking lot right at the restaurant itself, and it's just to-go, but you are allowed to eat in the parking lot. So can't really say much about ambiance. The service was quick though, and credit card was allowed. Not bad.

ATMOSPHERE: No renovations have been done sans for the menu board.  The air conditioning was either broken or off as it was very warm inside, yet a few brave souls ate in.  Seating is quite plentiful. MENU: Chinese-inspired hot foods line, pho, saimin, dry noodle dishes, local plate lunches, rice dishes, pork, chicken, burgers, catering.  Ramen is no longer offered. FOOD: Crispy Cake Noodles with Seafood - $12.99 I absolutely love cake noodles so I had to try it. Maui's other "Chinese" eateries all make subpar cake noodle dishes so I wasn't expecting much. I've found the best version on the rock, and it was really, really good.  Say what?!  Yes!  The cake noodles were real cake noodles; crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside.  And, the amount of noodles was obscene!  Literally enough for three servings.  It can't be only about the noodles as the gravy is just as important, and they rocked it! Savory, tasty and chock full of shrimp, zucchini, broccoli, won bok, carrots and mushrooms.  The only downfall were the calamari that were rubbery. I normally wouldn't pour all the gravy onto all the noodles but I did it for you, my fellow Yelpers as I wanted that voilà shot.  You're welcome, lol.  Next time, it'll be rationed in order to keep the noodles' crunchy texture. SERVICE: Counter service was friendly and food delivery was super quick, about 5 minutes. OVERALL: The cake noodles knocked me off of my feet.  I'm totally jubilant that they've made a comeback after their first failed attempt.  Keep it up and that rating might go up one more star!
