We have been coming here on and off since the day they opened. I don't know what is going on lately. We came here and wanted to try the nachos and the chili rellano. What a mistake the nachos were all fat-carnitas - fat it was balls and balls of fat-no meat just fat.. disgusting. there was a cheese shortage because only like 10 chips had cheese on them the rest were covered in beans. These were the worst nachos I have ever gotten in my life. The chili relleno was all burnt covered in egg to a 3 inch pepper that appeared to have come from a can. I have to say I am shocked at how bad the food was this time. I didn;'t see the normal guy in the kitchen it was a lady. She don't cook good thats for sure. Martha should rethink her cooking. I won't be back for a long time if at all. We love your salsa but you can't make a meal out of that. The food was good but the salads has changed over the years taste like pico de Gallo. When I asked the waitress marisella for chunky salsa she didn't elaborate what she was trying to explain. I asked is the chunky salsa like the salsa she had given to me on the table and she told me no that's like a pico de Gallo as she looked and pointedly the salsa on the table I assumed she meant the salsa that was already placed on the table that taste like pico de Gallo . When she gave me this so called chunky salsa it was soggy old tomatoes and cilantro , onion . Other wise known as pico de Gallo dry . My mother in law asked what it was and she replied in Spanish very rudely saying like I told the little girl "la Nina " it's pico de Gallo . Went in for lunch and it wasnt too busy. Martha greeted us and had us take a booth. Asked us what we wanted to drink and quickly brought out our drinks and chips. Salsa was great, we were going to order more but I know better as I ordered a California burrito. Food was great asada was a bit chewy but still delicious. Im a big guy and brought half of it home to my son. My wife was asked two times to refill her soda by both servers. Her enchiladas looked great and portion was big enough we needed a togo box for the rest. Got a chance to taste pozole and horchata. Pozole had great flavor. I got to taste the pozole after a while and this dint disappoint me at all. Horchata was freshly made and not from the machine which was great. Overall good food. Worth a visit. read more

I was in the area this past week and decided to stop in. A solo diner, I was made to feel like I was at home. The menu has the pretty common Mexican food variety. Martha the owner, waited on me and served me as well. Its a lil dated in decor, but not dilapidated...and unashamedly I did feel like I was 9 again at my parents dinner table as a result. I ordered a combo plate: tostada with my choice of meat...shredded beef and a fried ground beef taco. If you're Mexican American like I am, you can appreciate a GOOD FRIED GROUND BEEF TACO. I grew up on those! We didn't hardly ever have carne asada or pollo. This plate was 8.99 and came with a cup of soup or salad. I opted for the albondigas soup. Looked just like my Tia used to make. In my opinion it was a lil over seasoned for me....then again, I grew up with a really almost bland broth we would personalize with tabasco and limon lol....I digress. In addition to the free salsa and chips I was given free with my diet coke, I was stuffed after a quarter of the plate. Did it stop me? Nope. The shredded beef tostada was enormous and full of everything I grew up with..sour cream, tomatoes, lettuce, beans and sour cream. Not crema (which I adore) but true to Mexican American form sour cream. The taco was meaty and normal size-not street taco size (mini). The rice was good & beans just so-so. All in all, I have found a great alternative to disgusting fast 'mexican food'. Solid and interesting notes: -They cook fresh so call ahead if youre in a hurry. -True Authentic Mexican American food- not Tex Mex which is more obvious fusion american/mexican with weird chipotle sauces or silly gimmicks of what nachos should be. NOT authentic Mexican South of the border like from Jalisco food. Good, hearty Mexican American food, -The Tabasco I requested was refrigerated prior to serving it to me -If you're starving and can eat like a retired old, overweight man PLEASE order a combo plate -Say hi to Martha. I am sorry to say this but we ate lunch here and we had 3 problems. First, there was a long hair in my date's food. We are both very quiet and didn't want to cause a big scene or say anything out loud that would make anybody feel bad so we were just going to politely ask for a replacement when the waitress came back. She never did. The waitress never checked on us to see how the food was or to refill drinks, she was talking to another customer in the other room about Facebook the whole time we ate. Was in the area and decided to stop off at Ramiro's for breakfast since it was one of the few no chains up at 8AM on a Saturday morning. It a nice size family mexican restaurant probably with enough seating for about 50 and has all the look and feel of a family mexican restaurant (complete with their "Hall of Fame" picture gallery). The place was empty and was able to walk in get breakfast. They have a pretty good mix of American and Breakfast items to choose from including Chilaquiles, Chorizo Con Huevo, and a decent selection of Omelets. I decided to go with the fusion option and got the Denver Omelet Burrito and Orange Juice. Out came my Orange Juice and tasted like Minute Maid. But the chips and salsa (at 8AM) that came with it, were very good. Both must have been made fresh and came out ready to serve. When I got the burrito it was HUGE. There was more than enough to feed two. I started into the burrito and it was filled mostly with eggs but with some bits of onions, green pepper, ham and a little bit of cheese. I would have preferred more on the other items and a little less egg in the burrito. Also I would have liked the egg to be cooked a little longer. The eggs were cooks but still sweating so it made them a bit soggy. But when you add the fresh salsa, it was a pretty good breakfast burrito. The service here was nice and friendly. Nothing special. It also should be noted that they don't have any close by parking, so you may have to walk a block or two to eat at Ramiro's. As to ratings, it was a good breakfast with plenty of food. I'm currently 9months pregnant and was craving Pozole! My husband and I moved here 3 years ago, had been trying to find a place that served Pozole but not too many places do. So, instead I would always go to a place in Norwalk that I was familiar with. Been looking for a great authentic Mexican restaurant in Riverside for 15 years. One that is consistent every time you spend your hard earn money there. I think we finally found it at Ramiro's! Really almost $16 for 3 potatoes tacos and a soda came in with two other co- workers and we shared chips and salsa I think that missable waitress charged all of us for the chips since we told her we wanted separate bill not ones did she come and asked if we wanted a refill so I don't understand why my bill was so high for just 3 tacos. They need to find another waitress without attitude and stop charging so much when we have to wait forever to get our food or at least say they charge for chips and salsa. I heard people greeting Ramiro by name, which confirmed that the Pop in this Mom and Pop operation was working at the restaurant. My wife and I vacation often in Menifee, which is about 20 miles from Ramiro's Cocina. Even tho it's kind of out of our way, we always make time to stop in, some times more then once while in Cali..Ramiro is a master and Marta and Lilly are an added treat. Even tho we come here often, I always order the same thing, the California burrito wet with both sauces . Carniasada steak, French fries, avocado and beans( there is prob more stuff I can't remember). The burrito is always perfect and consistent every time. My wife doesn't do spicey so she usually gets the hamburger which she claims is outstanding, or the chicken quesadilla which she enjoyed also. They have good homemade tortilla chips and the salsa is excellent. Ramiro' is a quaint little store front space on Magnolia, nice clean restaurant and the service above and beyond. Love the food! The owners are super friendly and make you feel like one of the family. I attend at least once a week. My favorite is the taco burger, if it's not on the menu just ask. You get a lot of good food for your money. They have also done a couple of private events for me at the restaurant and my home. Their catering was very reasonable. Awesome! This hidden gem has great food, service and ambiance. I can never find good menudo, anywhere. This the place, taste great, perfect balance between the hamony and tripe, delicious.
