Kevin did Valve Clearance Adjustment etc on my car. As the work are inside of the engine, I cannot…read moretestify how they were done. But I do feel that the acceleration increased obviously after the job. Kevin also spent time to explain what engine oil I should use. Although I do not agree with him on that, I still appreciate his effort trying to help his customers. BTW, I got stopped by police due to speeding a few days after the engine job.

Despite some of the 1-star reviews, I decided to give this shop a chance because it was close to…read morehome, appeared to have experience with Subarus, and had plenty of positive reviews. Unfortunately, my experience was consistent with a few of the negative reviews. I was able to schedule an appointment within two days for an oil change using the manufacturer-recommended oil, OEM brakes and rotors, an A/C recharge, and a tire rotation. When I arrived, the shop immediately gave me weird vibes. There were no other customers, and the office was dark, dingy, and messy. It didn't feel like a professional shop at all. When I picked up my Subaru Forester, I learned they had used 10W-40 oil instead of the manufacturer-recommended viscosity rating (SAE) I requested. Rather than addressing my concern, I received a long explanation about why the difference supposedly did not matter (it matters; look it up!). They also installed Akebono brakes and rotors even though I had specifically requested OEM parts. The A/C service was even more frustrating. Kevin told me he had performed a diagnostic and found no parts that needed replacing, so he recharged the system. However, the A/C still did not work. I returned to the shop after picking up my wife from work. Kevin looked at it again and told me the O-ring needed to be replaced. He asked to keep the car for several more hours or overnight, which I declined. Several other things raised concerns for me. I was quoted around $100 for the A/C recharge, but the invoice came to ~$160. After I questioned it, Kevin reduced the charge by $30. To avoid a 3% credit-card fee, I chose Zelle, but the shop's number did not work, so I was asked to send the payment to his personal phone number. I also received only a photo of the receipt because the printer was supposedly/conveniently out of ink. Every question is met with a long winded spiel, where it's made to be seen as helpful or knowledgable, and to affirm that you've made the right choice by picking them. To me, it's a waste of my time and it exposes their nonsense if you listen carefully. Kevin also told that my car's control arm bushing was cracking and needed attention. Because I had lost confidence in him, I took the car back to the Subaru dealership to undo his work (e.g. changed the oil with the manufacturer-recommended viscosity, a/c diagnostic and repair, exchange the brake fluid he added with OEM fluid, etc.,) and they also performed a multipoint inspection. They provided a video of the inspection and did not identify the control arm bushing as an issue. Overall, I spent nearly $1,500 and left with more concerns than I had going in. I should have paid closer attention to the negative reviews. By the end of the experience, I didn't want them touching my car again. I will not be returning. If you own a Subaru, I recommend looking elsewhere for a shop that knows these cars, uses OEM parts, and operates with professionalism and integrity. The shop offers no warranty for their work. Even if they did, I had already lost confidence in them and decided it wasn't worth wasting anymore of my time or dealing with the hassle.

Full Story - My son was staying in a hotel for the night near Pedro's shop. In the morning (Friday) the car would not start so my son took the train into San Francisco as he had events planned. The issue, he was supposed to be back on the road the next morning. As a parent on the east coast, I frantically called shop after shop looking for someone who might be able to help him. We have USAA roadside and that is something but if it was more than a battery issue, the car would have to be towed to a shop which likely would not have been able to do anything until the following week. He was supposed to be driving to another state the next day. After calling what felt like 100 shops (it was probably closer to 10) and hearing the same response that they could maybe see them next week, I called Pedro. After explaining the situation, Pedro told me that when my son got back that he could call him and that Pedro would go to my son's location, get the car jumped and then take the car to his shop and get him back on the road as soon as possible. I told him my son likely wouldn't be back to the car until 5 or 6 PM and would it be ok to call him Saturday. He said that he is often at the shop late and my son should call immediately when he got back to the hotel. My son called Pedro at around 5PM and true to his word Pedro went out of his way to get the car to the shop and immediately checked it out to make sure everything was ok. If there was work to be done it would be completed on Saturday morning. Better than that, within an hour Pedro called and the car was good to go. My son had the car back before 7PM Friday evening. It was a miracle. Thank you Pedro! You brought some peace to some very anxious parents!

I've been ordering tires online from the same place for over a decade. I've never had a problem…read morebefore. I've also never been to this installer's location before. I ordered on Friday and instead of scheduling my appointment for the first available slot (which was shown as the next day) I scheduled it 5 days out (the very next Wednesday at 9:30am) Upon arrival, the technician took my name and phone number down. I also wrote down the make and model name of the tires I ordered. And he tells me It'll take around 1.5 hours or so as I'm the only appointment they have so far and the only vehicle they have ready to work on. A few minutes later the manager comes back and takes my information, again, after I already provided it all to the tech. The manager then tells me he doesn't know if they have the tires yet, and asked me if I got notification they were delivered (I've never gotten confirmation ever for any order shipped to the shop, because I'm not the person receiving the tires, they get sent directly to the shop) Yet still, the manager tells me it will be about 2 hours or so and sends me on my way. About 5 minutes after leaving I get a call saying they don't have the tires and can't work on the vehicle, so I need to come back and pick it up. When I got back, I told the manager that they should be aware of whether they can install tires for their appointments or not for the day. They opened at 7:30am, and my appointment was 9:30. They could have called me to let me know not to come in. They could block off their schedule and not allow bookings unless it's more than X number of days out to account for extra shipping time, etc. They could have told me they would check the shipping and that they'd arrive later today so I can leave the car there and they'd let me know when the tires were delivered/installed. There was so many options available but the manager refused to take any responsibility. When getting in the car to leave, my partner was walking back to her car and head the manager call me an idiot. Seriously dude? I was never rude, understandably dissatisfied, but never raised my tone, spoke ill, or cursed at all. This dude should not be in charge of or have to manage anything when he clearly can't manage a basic customer interaction. I drove 45 minutes one way to get there on time for my appointment. My partner drove 45 minutes so that we could leave the car there for them to do the installation. We both had to drive separately, another 45 minutes each, to get back home. Overall, 3 hours of our collective time was wasted due to something incredibly simple and easy for any one of Skip's corporate engineers to implement, or a QA person, or a customer service representative, or a simple AI assistant that scans tracking numbers and flags appointments that are scheduled before estimated tire delivery. I will NEVER go back to this location, or any "Skip's Tire" shop. Do better. Hire better people. Take responsibility. Don't waste peoples' time. And don't verbally insult or assault your customers. AND FOR THE OTHER YELPERS OUT THERE: READ THE BAD REVIEWS AND UNDERSTAND THIS IS NOT THE PLACE YOU WANT TO TAKE YOUR CAR. I WISH I READ SOME OF THESE OTHER REVIEWS LIKE THE ONES FROM William M, Pierre J, Jay A, Negar A, Zhaidar T, and Gabe U.
