I have gone here twice. It has been cheap but quality service. Imagine receiving a mechanic from a celebrity at the price of a happy meal. Sure they don't work for free but the price is cheap. Dario has been my husband's mechanic for years. He came highly recommended. But I had my own guys. Then one day it was too inconvenient to go to my guys. My car was overheating and I needed someone to help. He came to the rescue and replaced my cracked radiator within a couple hours so I could get on my way to work. This time when my engine light went on I knew I wanted to go to Dario again. He fixed that plus the brakes and replaced spark plugs that day. When i called he was checking on price for seats that wouldn't move. Motor stopped. Old truck. But I never heard back. So when I was collecting the truck and paying the bill I asked what he had found about price. He surprised me by saying he fixed it. How?? He took out the motor cleaned it and greased it and it's working again. He doesn't know how long it will work. But it's working. Wow. What a gem he is!! He went above and beyond. Just like last time. He's honest and he cares about helping you drive your car safely again. Priceless. I'm so glad I finally gave him a chance. He's a bit more than my other guys but he's much closer to where I work so it's probably where I will go now. And he's super friendly. Always smiling and laughs at the corniest jokes. I have waited a while to post this review & finally decided I should. I don't like throwing negative reviews around but I think it should be done. Both co-workers who recommended this shop highly have seen the results & both convinced me that while they still trust this place I should share my experience. I had a dead cylinder on my commuter & while I do almost all my own repair work this was not something I wanted to tackle myself. I had 2 co-workers who individually recommended this place when I asked them who they trust. Pro's - they had my diagnosis quickly... - price was comparable to others I called for comparison after they told me I had a burnt exhaust valve... - they were friendly & had the car turned around in a week... So far so good....but... Con's - car had a significant valve tick when cold... - timing was off... - had heat shield rattles because 2 bolts were missing... - valve cover was leaking because they didn't install the gasket correctly... - timing belt skipped 3 teeth within 2 weeks of repair...not tensioned correctly at all... - missing bolts on timing cover... So...I decided to... - time my own car... - get new bolts for all the missing ones... - discover they improperly tensioned my timing belt... - replaced tensioner & belt for piece of mind... - set the valve clearances from scratch... - install the valve cover gasket correctly.... - pull everything apart & check that the head was torqued properly...which it was. Before anyone says I should have brought this all up & had them repair it... 1) that is way too many mistakes & trivial errors to have in one repair... 2) after that there was no way I was letting them work on my car again... 3) I learned my lesson & I fixed it myself. So, overall, I agree that they are punctual & the actual cylinder head repair appears to be good everything else was a disaster. I can only think that they had a good mechanic do the cylinder head install & someone newer do the cleanup work. Either way, while they are punctual, friendly, reasonable priced, & were recommended highly by 2 co-workers I was left very disappointed because the easiest part of the repair, in my opinion, was done sloppy, improperly, dangerously, & without care. On an interference motor some errors done could have ruined my motor. I just think that timing a car would be simple as cake. Setting valves on a cold motor should be straight forward. Tensioning a belt on a Honda motor should be straight forward. Remembering to reinstall all the bolts you took off it common sense & unsafe to leave a few missing. Installing gaskets that have indicators for direction & position should be something anyone can figure out. These are things that good shadetree mechanics know well & things that mechanics working for ANY shop should know how to do by heart. I thought about giving 2 stars but I just don't think it mirrors what I have said. read more

I am not impressed with the service, after $1200 and 6 days I got my car back, it lasted for one day then began lagging again, I took it back and they said it was the crankshaft timing, after 5 more days I called several times and received no answer, I show up at the shop to find my car in the parking lot with no work being done to it, I ask to speak to someone the mechanic takes 15 mins to come out he comes out says the problems fixed and here are my keys also that since it was there fault there is no charge it is covered under warranty. I leave the shop about 2 hours later same problem they are closed sat and sun. I will be taking my car elsewhere to re fix there problem. NEVER AGAIN. read more

The Kar Shop is the only place my husband will trust his Ford F350 to! Kelvin and company always provide the best service and give you an honest opinion about repairs. We were having ongoing trouble with this truck and numerous trips to the dealer resulted in one headache after another and no resolution of the problem. We finally gave up and brought it to the Kar Shop and it has run great since! Honest, friendly, and inexpensive, not words you normally associate with car repair. This place is the exception!!! I recently took my car in for a general check up, with only a few specific things to check out. It has 125,000 miles on it, and I hadn't had it checked out for quite a while. I was of course expecting the worst, a large bill the size of my bank account. I was pleasantly surprised when I got a call from them saying that everything was great and my car runs very well. The problem with the brakes was covered under warranty. There was nothing to charge me for unless I wanted to go ahead with a tune up, which he pointed out wasn't necessary at that time. He didn't pressure me into anything, was very honest, and in fact said to me, "I'd like to be able to charge you for something, but your car is fine." That kind of honesty from a mechanic in my opinion is very rare! This is the second time I have taken my car to them, and I will not let anyone else near my car. This is my first online review, but I just had to let people know that this place exists. Too many times we complain about bad service while good service goes unrewarded. This is a case of good service, and I hope it helps someone. read more
