This is the bar / restaurant portion of the amazing stage of the Ram's Head Tavern. It is TONS of amazing, specialized beers, like anything you could want. But the food is fast and heavy. I had a great goat cheese burger, rare with awesome onions. My friend had a whiskey burger, awesome but a bit sloppy, Obviously, they are used to pre-show leaders who need their food fast so they can get to their seats. The Rams head Tavern is an institution in Annapolis, sporting many big-name acts (tonight I saw Crash Test Dummies) - see my review for Rams Head Stage. I really liked this place, it's got excellent customer service and the staff is incredibly hard working. Haven't been to a show yet, but I definitely want to! Just came here for drinks. The beers all sounded good but honestly after trying a lot of them I just wasn't so impressed (although I think I just may be an extreme beer snob). I think the main issue with the beer is the lack of fizziness. Taste was okay but I think they may be better served just stocking craft beer from California, Michigan, Denver and Vermont. read more

We sat at the bar first and that experience was definitely way better than our dining experience. Bartenders were super welcoming and kind. We headed over to the hostess stand and wow, completely different greeting ! I had a text confirmation of my dining reservation for 8 people at 5pm and they did not have my reservation at the hostess table. The older woman was incredibly nasty and flustered and had no idea what to do. The young man at the hostess stand offered several reasonable suggestion and she threw her hands up and said "I don't care!" We just stood there in disbelief as this unfolded. The young man took us to the table and apologized and said she is always like that. I think the owners may need to rethink who is greeting and welcoming their dining guests. Our dining service was okay. Most of our guests enjoyed there food- vegan tocos were a hit along with the pretzel app and burger. I had the Tuna Poke as pictured for $17 which was missing the seaweed salad and totally underwhelming in taste and presentation. Basically 1 avocado and two scoops of tuna with some sauce. If it wasn't for our waitress and the young man at the hostess table I would have left 0 stars. Hope Rams Head makes some improvements soon! read more

We came here to watch the game and it was a pretty chill spot. The bartender who tended us was extremely knowledgeable and courteous. We came to the area for brunch but also I wanted to watch the game so this was a good choice for us. My son ordered their pancake breakfast that was served with a meat choice and strawberries with fresh cream. He was full and happy with this. I ordered the Shrimp and Grits after deciding on french toast and sooo pleased I switched. I could have eaten a full bowl of those grits! The shrimp were ok but I wasn't a fan of the chrizo. I didn't think it was chorizo but beau said it was and he knows better than I. It would have been better if the shrimp were grilled and the sausage had a sear on them. There was a lot of peppers and onions which I usually don't eat because they're often used as fillers,however these were good and went perfect with the grits. Beau ordered their Dynamite Burger which came blackened and topped with candied cayenne bacon, chipotle aioli, American cheese and a fried jalapeño on top of the bun. Yes, you read right, candied cayenne bacon! I think I encouraged him to order this burger because I really wanted to try that candied cayenne bacon, it was so good. I'm going to have to try it myself in my own kitchen. We also ordered the calamari which could have been crispier. Our bartender recommended we try the pumpkin cheesecake because he had already ordered 9 slices himself lol. We did, however I didn't like it. The waiter was super friendly and very attentive, the food tasted okay, but when my husband and I got home we were fine for a little but then .... We started tag teaming the bathrooms in house. I just got a macaroni and cheese entree, without any meat...so this has to be a kitchen hygiene thing. I looked on here to see if there were any reviews about the cleanliness of the establishment and to my surprise someone else posted a review 4 hours ago today that said their son and them also are sick. Kristin is amazing! Super friendly and attentive. She advised us on the best apps and boy was she right. She also was super helpful in picking out beer for my boyfriend and made sure my wine glass never went empty. We sat outside in the street and there was a band playing a few doors down. Went to Rams Head yesterday with a few friends. Because of the COVID virus they had the street blocked off and outside seating which in my opinion really added to the ambiance of DTA. It was a great night to enjoy good food and good company. Most of my friends and I ordered a variety of their burgers. They were excellent and very filling. The chef did a great job and prepared the burgers to our exact specifications. Wait staff was very friendly and helpful too. 5 stars, but the only negative is below. However, this was purely out of their control so I cannot deduct any stars. ****we are Pennsylvania residents...and we tried order a few beers but was told in Maryland they cannot serve to you if you still have a vertical ID. I am 23 and still have a vertical ID because it has not expired yet. So bottom line, if you want to drink in Maryland at a bar/restaurant make sure you have an up to date, over 21 horizontal ID. read more

Had dinner at Rams Head Tavern before a show. We had reservations in conjunction with our concert tickets. Arrived at the host stand and there was no host there. Ok they were seating someone. However 2 employees were standing nearby. Not a peep out of them. They could have said someone will be with you in a minute. The place was very hot and our poor waiter was drenched in sweat. Our meal came out wrong. It is pretty sad when you order a salad with steak and there is no steak. Cheeseburger came out with no cheese (ordered medium the outside was scorched and inside was mooing). Our waiter was clueless about the perks you get for eating there prior to a show. We had the same server as the day before, so we can only surmise that she was overwhelmed due to an understaffing situation the prior day. Our food was excellent and came out quickly. For me, 2 stars is middle of the road. It's like "Ehhh" with a shoulder shrug. I went in on Monday - I saw the special was Lobster Monday for $22.95. I was thinking TAIL - great price - I'm in Annapolis - let's do it. The whole lobster arrived and honestly I was shocked. I've never eaten a whole lobster. I told the waiter I didn't know what to do with it. He said it's basically finger food. Crack here and there. Truly, I'm really more generous with his words of encouragement and help than he really was. Maybe he didn't know what to do with it either? I got the meat out of the tail. It was rubbery. I don't think it's supposed to be like that. When I tore the tail off, there was this yucky green stuff in there. That was it - I could not do anymore. The waiter never came back to check the table. I ya to walk to the bar to get my check. I love the atmosphere of the restaurant. You have to pay for parking along the street. If I ever go back, I will go for the beef. LOL! read more

First time at this location. I really like the Annapolis location, just down the street from the Naval Academy. This location is the best one I have been too so far. I like the rich textures of the decor. Beyond that, the drinks were pretty good. They made a pretty decent Mojito. The appetizers were pretty decent as well. Especially the tator tots. Tots with a layer of Maryland crab with a layer of melted cheese. For dinner, I had the grilled pork chops, mash potatoes w/gravy, and asparagus. The chop, slightly sry but tasty. Mash was good, but I did not care for the gravy. It was a too much and I would have preferred a lighter gravy. Highly recommend this restaurant if you are in the area. read more

It's been awhile since we've grabbed lunch here. Was walking around the season's final First Sunday fair in downtown Annapolis, and we decided to stop in. We expected pub food. Nothing more. Nothing less. We weren't looking for fine cuisine. One of us ordered their standard burger. Medium well. comes with fries. The other ordered a basic Reuben. Meh, the burger was burnt on the outside, raw in the middle. That tells you a frozen burger was thrown on the grill. Nothing wrong with frozen beef, we all have it in our fridges. But throwing a frozen burger on a grill will get what you get. The Reuben. Mediocre corned beef, not enough sauerkraut to notice, and the thousand island dressing was watery and tasteless. Have a couple beers each. Bill for this basic, VERY mediocre lunch was over $60 before tip. Not really worth it. Could've gotten the same food, better, for about half the price in many places. I chalk this up partially to our times. It seems like everywhere the quality of service and especially food is diminished. Costs, supply chain issues, whatever, eating out is becoming less of an experience for the cost. read more

I don't know why I hadn't been to this venue for a show until now (10/31/16) - esp given the ease of getting here too - but so glad I finally made it. And to see none other than the incredible Incognito feat. hometown favorite Maysa. It's a nice intimate music hall (reserved seating at tables) with great acoustics and probably not a bad seat in the house. The restaurant is attached and I've heard good things about it, but the music hall offers a much smaller and limited menu. I like Rams Head for the shows and would certainly come back for that but I was not a fan of the food. I had the pork sliders and a salad - the pork sliders were cold and overall just ok. Also the server for our table seemed to forget a few things as it took an extremely long time for my honey to get his food, yet everyone all around us was getting their orders. I will give a thumbs up however to the key lime pie. Next time I'll either eat at the full service restaurant before the show or elsewhere in Annapolis. But definitely I recommend Rams Head to experience your favorite artists! read more

Its official NEVER coming back. In trying to support local businesses during these trying times we came here in hopes of beverages and dinner. I am not sure what was worse the food or the attitude our server. We got two apps a beer and a wine. Our serve outwardly expressed her disdain of having to wait on us and the people next to us. Then the food came deviled eggs tasted sour/spoiled; the crab on top was definitely not fresh an most likely the source of foul taste. The Brussels sprouts we just grease soaked and burnt and the sauce was tasteless flour with grease. So sad. read more

I'd give Rams Head 5 stars for brunch ambience (when the weather is nice enough to sit on the patio and they have live music) and 3 stars for food and service. The restaurant is bigger than it looks from the outside. The host station is set up weirdly not right inside the front door but around the corner. They have a Bloody Mary bar which, for $10, is an excellent deal but could be better thought out. Who has cucumbers instead of pickles in their Bloody Mary? There were shrimp, celery, olives, limes, and lemons at least, and salt/ old bay for rimming the class. Spicier mixes would be nice instead of only mild. Also, there was no ice and we had to request it from our server. The food was nothing to write home about. For instance, the seafood omelette I got was just egg with unflavored crab meat and shrimp inside. No cheese or vegetables or anything. The fruit was a thin slice of pineapple and a thin slice of melon, and the potatoes were okay. Coffee was terribly watery. Service was a bit slow. I'd come back here for a beer (they do have tons of beer options) and a show. read more

Here's a quick overview of a horrendous experience: - ordered a Korean BBQ burger - bit into burger , it's RAW - return the burger, it comes back - it's the same burger cooked more but still very rare! So they served a RAW burger then threw it back on their grill after being bitten (extremely unsanitary!) and served it again, but it wasn't even better. It had to be returned again. I've been eating at Rams Head for many years now but it was only this week when I realized how amazing their happy hour is. My friend and I only had apps and sodas since we were recovering from New Years, but appetizers are half off for happy hour! We ate 2 different flavors of wings which tasted distinct and the crab dip which didn't have lump meat evenly dispersed. While Rams Head is an established local music venue this was my first visit. The tavern is located in Annapolis and is close to many restaurants and taverns in the area. Parking was sufficient. The venue includes a full service bar with an expansive array of beers and specialty cocktails. Meal service is also available. The music venue is intimate and offers and up close experience with performers -- a definite plus but I feel they've crammed too many tables into the small space. Overall, I liked the venue and will return but there were a few things that annoyed me: 1. I availed myself of the mobile ticketing option but the ticket taker at the door didn't have a scanner. It was a hassle and time consuming to stand at the door to justify my entrance into the venue and seat because the staff didn't have the equipment necessary to do their job. If you offer mobile ticketing please equip the staff appropriately. 2. A sign at the entrance stated that pics and vids from cell phones are prohibited. Ok, that's cool but when the show started audience members were freely and openly recording and taking pics throughout the show. Again, that's cool tool. What's annoying is that staff began to enforce the rule during the encore. The inconsistency of enforcing the rule was highly annoying and pointless. If pics/vids are prohibited the rule should apply to everyone throughout the entire show. 3. Way too many tables crammed into the small space so it was very distracting and view blocking when audience members needed to take a break during the show. read more

After all these years I finally made it out to the Rams Head for a performance! This was my first time and we were there to see Enter The Haggis perform. We arrived about an hour and 10 minutes before the performance start time. We parked in a public parking garage about a block and a half away. Picked up our tickets - the doors to the music area had not yet opened. So I went and sat at the bar and ordered a drink - the Oyster Stout. The concert area is very nice and cozy. There really is not a bad seat in the house. Seating is assigned - when you purchase your tickets online - you get to see which tables are available and select seating from any open tables. The walls on either side of the stage are painted with large interesting mural scenes. I took my seat and ordered another round of drinks and water, and waited for my friends to arrive. When they finally arrived - they ordered some food - we split an order of nachos. The Nachos were, in my humble opinion - not very good. I'll wait to eat dinner at the Rams Head before I'm willing to state any opinions on food there in general. Overall, the ambiance was nice, the beer was excellent, and the musical experience was awesome! The Rams Head has excellent acoustics! I can't wait to visit again for more concerts! read more

I always end up bringing people here when they are visiting from out of town. It is one of the quintessential Annapolis hot spots. They have music since they are connected to the Ram's Head, they have Maryland/Delaware beer on tap, and they have wood bars which look like they are straight from 1850s. Today was my first time coming during happy hour and aside from the slow service from our server (we should have sat at the bar) I discovered that they have FREE FOOD during happy hour from 4-7 pm and they give you tickets to enjoy it!! What what??? FREE FOOD!!! One of my favorite things about his place is their basement bar which really is a throw back from the nineteenth centrum, it's dark with low ceilings and it's a great location for large parties to congregate! I also love their crab dip though they never give you enough bread. And if you ask for more, you get charged which I didn't know about until the bill came!!! Oh and they have a big patio if you're looking for an outdoor location for brunch or a birthday party!!! read more

Love the atmosphere! It's all about the small English pub feel in this place. You walk in and there is an amazing bar upsptairs. It feels like you are transported back as you squeak down the stairwell to the bar in the basement (which also has access from the front of the building). Everything about this place is cozy so if you do not like confined spaces and many warm bodies, than try somewhere else. But this is a wonderful place for happy hour. We went on a Thursday afternoon and everyone seemed there for happy hour. At 0730 everyone seemed to bail. Great place to get a beer nonetheless. And I look foward to going to see a show or two there! read more
