My brother and I popped in after walking into Eastport from Annapolis. His wife had been there before and had good things to say. It was a late Saturday morning, and between the regular, brunch, and specials menus they had a huge selection. Shannon, our server, was uber pleasant and offered her insight to the menu. We ended up with cream of crab soup and fish tacos. Both were amazing. The fish was blackened, so not fried. Excellent! Shannon was superb always checking in without interrupting. Happy to chat and made sure things met expectations. Eastport has lots of interesting-looking restaurants, but if I'm back in the area I suspect I'll revisit Boatyard Bar & Grill. read more

Always check for the Boatyatd specials for the best options, especially for seafood. The flavorful, features aren't typically on the standard menu. They also bring in specialty desserts at times. The ambiance is chill with friendly staff. The fried oysters are delicious, tender with a nice batter and sauce. We had the specialty rockfish and pan fried haddock with two coconut shrimp and curry sauce. Both pieces of fish were tender and a good portion size. If the have a sauce woth lump crab meat don't expect any crab. Instead of a light garnishing of crab it's almost invisible strands that broke down in the sauce, no taste profile. The sides are exchangeable. The mashed potatoes, squash medley and asparagus are prepared well. Dessert was a simple brownie sundae that hit the spot. read more

Wow! We decided on Boatyard Bar & Grill in Annapolis, Maryland for dinner while we were in town. We're very happy that we did! The wait for a table for 2 people on a Saturday evening was 35-40 minutes and the hostess took our cell phone number and kindly verified that we received their text confirmation before we moved from the hostess stand. Nice touch. This bar & grill was busy, but we grabbed a drink from the bar while we waited for our table. The decor is a fun nautical theme throughout. I love the signage above the bar, and the lighting that spotlights the large fish on the walls. You can see the local families and groups of friends who make this place a weekly jaunt! Our server, Shannon W. was friendly and knowledgeable with the specials and the menu. We ordered the Cream of Crab soup, the Eastport Steamer Sampler, and the Open-Faced Crab Dip Samich. Yes, it's spelled Samich. Everything was delicious. Everything was seasoned nicely. Glad we had a great meal to write about! Also, a quick stop into the Women's restroom to wash my hands was nice with the quirky signage on the door and the pleasant scent of the restroom itself. Another nice touch. read more

Boatyard is a nice seafood restaurant in Annapolis. They have a decently sized indoors and outdoor seating. That meant I was able to bring my dog to the place! I had their crab and artichoke dip, fried oysters, soup, and crab cake dinner. I enjoyed everything! I really like the dip, but I loved the bread used for the dip - it was a lot crunchier and was pretty easy to chew. For the soup, I had the yin and yang, which is a half/half of Maryland crab soup and cream of crab. I personally preferred the cream of crab more. Great restaurant with lots of seating. Has two large tents with outside seating and a small deck. Also has a bar area and dining areas. This place is located off main area of town and easily walkable from the main area of Annapolis. Worth the walk. Easy to find and a great walk over the bridge to view boats, etc. Not sure about parking as we walked from center of town. Greeted by friendly bartender. She was very polite and checked in on us throughout our visit. Ordered a habenaro margarita which was great and well made. Also had a drink called Admiral that was super good too. They do have some tasty looking drinks on their menu. Ordered the artichoke and crab dip. Asked for tortillas instead of the French bread. This was delicious. Portion was generous. My wife and I went here for a recent weekend brunch and had a great experience. Despite Boatyard Bar & Grill being busy and that it doesn't take reservations, we were able to get a table immediately. The ambiance is awesome-true boathouse vibes with lots of themed decorations. We had good service throughout our meal, with food coming in a timely manner. I started with the oysters of the day, which had a good mild flavor, pairing well with the cocktail sauce and vinegar. We shared the rockfish tacos and the pear and three cheese pizza, both of which were great. The rockfish was perfectly cooked and the accompaniments were solid. The pizza had a great crust, tons of delicious cheese, all paired nicely with arugula and pears. We went on a Saturday night and were estimated a one-hour-and-ten-minute wait. They take your phone # and get notified via text when a table is ready for your party. We ended up waiting 50 minutes (it was 8pm at this point), and we can tell the lines weren't as long at this time of night. Anyway, we tried the calamari, fresh oysters, and soup of the day (clam chowder) as our appetizers. It was all pretty good but nothing really stood out. This place is known for their crab cakes, and so we had to try it. The market price when we went was a whopping $68!!! Was it worth it? It was THE BEST crab cake I've ever had, and I've tried all kinds-- from the banks of Louisiana to the New England waters to the Pacific Northwest, etc. Outstanding. It was fresh, no bits and pieces of crab shells, AND it wasn't stuffed with too much breading like other crab cakes. The crab is the ACTUAL star of the dish like it should be!! The rest of the dinner plate was also amazingly paired-- fresh roasted veggies and creamy mashed potatoes. My husband got the house special crusted halibut. He said it was good but severely lacking seasoning. My kids tried their angus beef burger and some sandwich. My advice is DON'T get anything that's not seafood here. While it was still good, it was not as tasty as the seafood. Make your money worth it and only go for the seafood- specifically the crab dishes! read more

Such a great little place, awesome atmosphere. This was an impromptu stop with some friends after returning from a retreat. The staff was very warm, and ther service was prompt, even with a last minute large party! Started with Anthony's oysters I got the fish tacos (blackened) so tasty Hubby got the crab cakes which were also great, the table commented on the full lump and flakiness of the crabcake. Visited here for birthday lunch and it was a beautiful day and a great visit. We were immediately seated and our waitress was very nice, knowledgeable of the menu and provided good recommendations. We ordered some very tender and well seasoned calamari and had cream of crab soup that was very good. For entrees, we had fish tacos that were served with rice and beans and the fixings such as lettuce, pico de galo. Tacos were good but the rice and beans were bland and not as good. Very interesting choice of beans option; pinto beans vs. black beans. Also the seafood salad with lump crab and shrimp. The recommended dressing wasn't as flavorful as needed but when paired with the lemon vinaigrette, the salad popped and was very good. The bulk was reasonably priced and would visit again. This has been a favorite restaurant for many years, but now that it is owned by the Atlas Restaurant Group conglomerate, I'll probably look to other locally owned restaurants instead. There are plenty of places serving fresh oysters and seafood. I'm sure you will like your food here. It is a large place with plenty of seating areas and a couple bars. If you crave some nice local seafood also check out O'Learys across the street. Or go into town and get fresh shucked oysters at McGarvey's. If you want pub style food, your options are limitless... Davis Pub, Galway, Stan and Joe's, Castlebay, Dock Street, Middletons or O'Briens for a bit of everything! On this street alone you also have Forward Brewing, Adam's or Lewnes for a great steak, Parking is tight here but you can always find something on the street and then just enjoy your walk around beautiful Eastport! To my surprise, we were seated right away & they offered coloring kids menus, which the kids loved! We ordered... -Antoine's oysters Rockefeller: amazing! So tasty. Generously sized oysters! A must order -Sesame crusted ahi tuna: so good. Super fresh tuna. One of the best versions we have tried. -Blackened tuna salad: phenomenal & I'd order this again & again. Ordered the tuna rare & it was cooked to perfection. Salad itself was fresh with a tasty dressing. -Lobster & crab roll: it was good but wasn't wowed. Have had better. Kids had the cheeseburger, hot dog, & grilled cheese from the kids' menu, which they all devoured. I really wanted to try their crab cakes...but the dinner was priced at 60+ for 2. For a single crab cake is $30+. Maybe next time. Service was exceptional though. It was PACKED, but our waitress was attentive. We have loved The Boatyard for years! Like truly loved it! It's been a must visit since we started going to the boat shows in Annapolis in 2018. We decided to visit Annapolis for Christmas this year, and we stopped here, of course. As usual, the vibe is just perfect. It has that delightfully casual, airy, East Coast bay charm. The service is always excellent, but our server, Lexi, made us feel especially at home this time! We had actually strolled in fairly late on Christmas Eve with no reservations, and they still accommodated us, and sweet Lexi didn't rush us, even though we encouraged her to! That's exceptional service, y'all! To start, Hubby got four Patty's Fatty's oysters from Eastport, MD. He loved them. Clean, salty and briny goodness. The oysters here are always extra-special! For mains, I went with the Black and Blue Red Snapper, which was utterly unforgettable to me! No hyperbole! Like, last meal on Death Row worthy! Just look at the picture. Jesus! So dang good! Hubby went more classic with the Fish and Chips, and they were amazing. Crispy as all get out, but not greasy, and the cod gives it the perfect oomph! It's the best fish for Fish and Chips, IMO! To end, we indulged in one of the best cake slices on Earth. It was a chocolate raspberry tower of yummy! I think that it may have been a version of the Maryland Smith Island cake, but, whatever it was, it was AWESOME! Again, check the food porn...I mean pic! LOL! So good! I was visiting Annapolis for a short day trip with my partner and we decided to check this place out. We came around 11:30 on a Saturday and were seated right away. Our server was friendly and explained the menu thoroughly. The atmosphere in the restaurant was energetic and upbeat with parties of all sizes and servers chatting. Our food came out extremely quickly. We got the Maryland crab soup as an appetizer, which we were disappointed in. The size was tiny and there was barely any crab in it. For entrees we got the fish and chips and fish tacos, both of which had big portions and were very delicious, in contrast to the soup. With all the great reviews, I made sure to visit this place while in Annapolis -- and it definitely lived up to the hype. I came on a Tuesday around 4:45 PM, and the restaurant wasn't too busy yet, so I was seated right away. My server, Kelsey, was prompt, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu. She checked on me regularly throughout the meal, which I really appreciated. I started with a variety of oysters from the day's special menu. Each one was fresh and flavorful -- the menu descriptions were spot-on. For my entrée, I went with the restaurant's signature "World's Best Crab Cake Dinner (All Killer, No Filler)", paired with rice pilaf and southern-style potato salad. The dish was priced at $58.99 that day (market price) -- absolutely worth it. The crab cake was rich, meaty, and easily one of the best I've ever had -- generous portion too. For dessert, I tried the Toffee Butter Cake à la Mode, which was phenomenal -- warm, buttery, and perfectly balanced with the ice cream. Ambiance: clean, spacious, and well-lit with tasteful coastal décor. They also have an inviting outdoor patio for those who prefer dining al fresco. Prices are reasonable considering the high quality of the food and service. I didn't drive, so I can't comment on parking, but everything else about the experience was excellent. This restaurant has extraordinarily good reviews in yelp so we were very interested. As far as parking goes you're gonna have to search around neighborhood and we were able to find parking two blocks away. Not a big deal. However, there is the marina which cost about $20. The restaurant does not provide any parking to speak of. Do be prepared if you eat inside for an above average noise level. The servers were very nice and pleasant. We all ordered the crabcake sandwich for lunch based on the exceptional reviews. Unfortunately, we were all disappointed. The presentation was beautiful, and the crab cake was truly without filler. The taste was less than satisfactory compared to many other restaurants we've dined in. The lump crab meat had some kind of mayonnaise sauce on it that actually prevented the crab flavor from coming through. However, I did like the tartar sauce, which was way above average and helped alleviate some of the less satisfactory aspects of the crabcakes. The salad side salads were on the small side. However, the broccolini was perfectly cooked to a beautiful vivid green in a generous portion. Clearly, our experience was limited to one item on the menu, which may not reflect on the other wide choices available available. I'll look around the room showed some really nice looking crabs and other seafood selections. They made it so easy and assured us they could accommodate a group that large. I've been to Boatyard before, so I know they have stellar food (especially their crab cakes). What I was not prepared for was how WONDERFUL our waitress, Joy, would be. She was downright DELIGHTFUL. We had so many babies with us and had to switch our seats around multiple times, and she handled it with patience and kindness and a smile. She got all of our orders right and delivered them all to the right people, despite the seat swaps! She split our checks with a smile and just made our humongous group feel so special. One thing I'll say is the ambiance was not my cup of tea. We ordered: *Seafood tower - two tier and it was delicious! The oysters were great, as were the shrimp and tuna, but the smoked mussels were new to me and they blew me away! *Crab cakes - my mom ordered this and she liked them, where-as when I tried them, I thought they needed actual seasoning. *Fish and chips - my dad got this and the fries were delicious! The fish was good in the sense that it wasn't overly battered, but it needed seasoning - even a little salt or something would have helped. *Cream of crab soup - I got a bowl of this and it really didn't work for me. What a great restaurant! A little off the beaten path in Annapolis, but clearly the locals know about it, because even on a rainy weekday the place was doing a booming business. They supposedly have a small parking lot behind the restaurant, but we were able to find on-street parking. My niece and I were sat right away (it is way bigger on the inside than it looks from the outside) and a server quickly came by to take our drink order, and give recommendations. Because we are both crab girls through and through, it didn't take long for both of us to decide on the Maryland Crab Soup (spicy crab and beef broth with bacon, celery, onion, peppers, tomatoes, potatoes, cabbage and chunks of lump blue crab meat), and "The Best Crab Cake Sandwich You'll Ever Eat". The soup came out very quickly and it was amazing. Chock full of flavor and crab meat, I regretted that I only ordered a cup of it. Our crab cake sandwiches came out shortly after, served with fries, and they too were fantastic. So much crab meat, so little filler. Totally worth the approximately $35 each sandwich. For dessert they had a specialty item on the menu that I just had to have: The Salty Crab Ice Cream - vanilla ice cream with Old Bay, caramel, and fudge swirl. SO GOOD! They sell shirts and other souvenirs at the front of the store, and I could not resist buying a soft t-shirt. We had the handheld special lobster + lump crab roll and it was excellent, it came with french fries for total $27. French fries were crisp and perfectly cut, we mixed in a little bit of Tabasco into the ketchup for that extra kick.
