First off the good- the restaurant is very clean. Service was prompt and very friendly. Love that I could shop for jellies and syrups while I waited for my dinner. I got the Hot Brown- and thoroughly enjoyed the massive amounts of gravy and cheese :) Now the average- husband got the meatloaf with mac and cheese, mashed potatoes and okra. Nothing was bad, it was just that none of it was "great." All the sides needed seasoning, even if it was just some salt. Yum, yum, yum! A friend suggested going here noting that it was a favorite during his University of Kentucky days. He says it is good bbq-style food with a real home-cooking feel. I had the pot roast with the deep fried corn mashed potatoes, and fried green tomatoes. everything really was delicious and very homemade tasting! Stopped in for a late lunch, quick to be seated and our waitress was amazing! Very responsive, zero down time for drinks or refills, very attentive to her tables. Food was amazing as always. Always enjoy this place, enjoyed banana peppers to start and the Reuben for my entree (I was starving, so half the sandwich is missing . Great device even though they were understaffed snd the dining room was full. Fall veggies are fresh right now, but love the fresh veggies all year round. Especially the tomatoes . The Reuben has a generous portion of meat and the bread isn't so toasted it dip the roof of your mouth off. The banana peppers are perfectly fried and not greasy at all, pairs well with the cocktail sauce (I am not a ranch person). Side salad with all the fixings with blue cheese is not pictured, but was a large portion and I devoted it. The home made salad dressing is incredible. You can always count on Ramsey's for a good meal. Whether it's dine in or carryout, the home cooking will feed you well! My wife and I ordered carryout last week. It was ready when promised, hot and delicious. She got the chicken and dumplings and (with the exception of a few small bones) enjoyed it. I got the Meat & Three with meatloaf and stuff. The baked potato was the best carryout baked potato I've had this year. It was fresh and fluffly and hot! And, don't forget the pie! I got Pumpkin and it was fantastic. The bartender was a hoot - he had so much personality, and helped make the experience. I'm very sorry to have to write this, because Ramsey's Andover has always been one of my favorite places in town. I frequently take guests there to "experience" a great hot brown. Lately I felt that things were declining slightly, but last night hit rock bottom. It was simply unacceptable, period. My guest ordered the 4 vegetable plate, including the daily special of asparagus. All of them were lukewarm at best, and the asparagus was literally soaked and covered with butter/oil. I ordered the traditional Reuben - one of my favorites - but it was so greasy that the bottom layer of bread was soggy and came apart as soon as I tried to eat it. It was dripping greasy juice all over the table, and me. I ate less than half of it and gave up. Service was absent. At one point we counted 9 tables that had no food yet. When I asked about the situation, I was told it was the 4:00 "shift change" and it would still be a few minutes longer. Guess that explains my lack of drink refills as well? Guys please! You used to be SO much better than this. !! read more

I was so impressed with Ramsey's Diner and how gluten free friendly they are. They had a separate gluten free menu which is awesome! My non-gf husband had a wonderful meal as well and we both left full and satisfied and I did not get sick afterward which is always the sign that I will absolutely come back here! Very casual sit down place to eat and is also a local restaurant. The food is southern style, which if you are craving southern style home cooked type food this is the place for you. The staff is laid back and typical for a restaurant. The bathrooms are clean and well maintained although not the fanciest. They also have a little store next door where you can purchase food and other southern style items. There is also a bar to sit at if that is what you prefer. Overall, I would eat here anytime I crave southern food. Always an enjoyable experience. read more

There was no host so I just sat at the bar, the bartender was very friendly. My food was delicious and pretty affordable. I tried the butterscotch pie which was really hood. I've lived in Lexington my whole like and this was my first time eating here. I'll definitely be going back the food and sides were so good. Our favorite place for home style country cooking! Everything is house made, even the salad dressings! Seasonal specials are locally sourced and amazing. Although I usually come here to enjoy the grilled pork chops in red sauce with a side of fried green tomatoes, today's meal was a BLT Salad with Blue Cheese Dressing. There is SO much bacon on the salad - at least a pound on a HUGE salad. I barely made a dent, but it'll make great left overs for later. Husband ordered Buffalo Chicken Salad with Blue Cheese dressing and again, huge salad which he obviously enjoyed since the entire salad was devoured. Two TVs at the bar area are perfect for keeping up with the games. Nice relaxed atmosphere and friendly staff. Eclectic decor like chairs painted in random designs. There's a patio area that's enclosed and heated during winter months. Three locations in the Lexington area and locally owned. They have recently added a small store (Ramsey's Country Store) next door that's accessible from the restaurant besides a separate door accessible from the outside. There are items from local businesses like Cornbread Mix from Weisenberger Mill in Woodford county to jams and beer cheeses to take out ready grab 'n go meals from the restaurant like soups and meatloaf. read more

I've been to 2 locations, and the food is phenomenal! My "home" location is Andover, and it has never let me down. The servers and bartenders are true professionals, and service is always good. Keep in mind this is a southern comfort food establishment, so if you're in a terrible hurry, go somewhere else and come back when you have a reasonable amount of time. They are not slow, they cook everything fresh, and its worth the time. The serving sizes are huge and make for good leftovers. Famous for their "Meat and three" Ramsey's is a local establishment with locations all over town. Meat: pot roast, fried chicken, skillet pork loin, chicken n dumplings, pork chops, country fired steak. Three - creamed corn, corn on the cob, parmesan corn, okra and tomatoes, sauteed spinach, mac n cheese, fried apples, fried green tomatoes, greens, mashed potatoes, cottage cheese, a salad (seriously?) They are also famous for something we like to call in Kentucky a "Hot Brown" - originating from the Brown Hotel in Louisville, it is a 100% well-known hangover cure. It consists of: toast, turkey, ham, bacon, tomato, covered in an entire plate of cheese sauce and broiled cheese. It's crazy good. And just to make sure your hangover is gone, order an Ale-8 with it. It's a local soft drink sort of like a spicy ginger ale. They do have burgers and salads and also a huge breakfast option that involves pancakes and all kinds of things. I'm pretty sure you can get that any time. Atmosphere is like a messy, down home, great aunt's kitchen with mismatched chairs and cups. The wait staff all wear ties but no one has any idea why since they wear them with t-shirts and shorts. Ramsey's serves Missy's pies for dessert. Every kind of good, delicious pie you can think of and they all have huge merengues on them. My favorite is black bottom banana cream; it has a whipped cream top instead of merengue. so. crazy. good. You can go here totally casual and it's a family-oriented restaurant. Pre-covid there were toys to share, although I'm sure someone has put an end to that. In fact, it just looks like a store front kinda place, but they have side rooms for seating as well. We were immediately greeted and seated, and everyone we encountered was super pleasant! Now, for the important part...the food. Good grief, first off, abundant! The portions will not leave you wanting! 2nd, the best tasting restaurant food I've had in quite some time! I had a salad, fried pork chops, fried green tomatoes, and apple fritters. To say I was stuffed was an understatement, and much to my dismay, I left some because I was full. Sadly,I didn't get to try any of the desserts, but it's a reason to return! We did try a locally brewed beer and was pleasantly surprised by how good it was as well! I love getting pie as an appetizer here. Then following up with dinner. My go-to is the fried chicken breast with the two sides. My favorites are the creamed corn and the tomatoes. Corn and 'mater days are really the best times to come here. Fried corn is a thing and if you haven't tried it, it is totally worth it. The hot brown here is better than the one I have had at the Brown Hotel. I am not sure if that says something about the Brown Hotel or Ramseys. Go here for the pies. Every time I have come to any of the Ramsey's in Lexington the food and service our consistently good. I selected the one off Harrodsburg road to take my relatives from Virginia for some good ol' southern comfort food. They loved the food, you can count on Ramsey's Diner to never disappoint. We love Ramsey's and this location is no exception. Popped in for brunch recently and it was just such a classic delicious breakfast. We did the "traditional breakfast" which is SO MUCH FOOD. Up to 5 eggs along with bacon, sausage, hash browns, pancakes and toast. It's a fantastic deal as well. Everything was cooked perfectly and I had a lovely mimosa to go with it.
