The Ranch Drive-In reminds me of the ice cream stands, or as we always called them "custard stands," found in pretty much every small town, where I grew up in rural western Pennsylvania. The Ranch has a great nostalgic feel with it's teeny-bopper employees and offerings of fast food style fare that can be enjoyed inside the Ranch's dark wood paneled inside with retro booth seating. The classic American fast food cuisine is deliciously unhealthy and makes me think of summer time. My honey had two different burgers. One was the Ranch Burger and the other a Bacon Ranch Burger. Both were nice sized, and I really like the sesame seed topped bun. The burgers were both deluxe fast food style burgers; decked out with lettuce, cheese, special sauce. While I feel Burgermaster up the street has a slight edge over the Ranch, based on the fact that the ingredients used there are a little higher quality, I would say Burgermaster is solid fast food fare. My only gripe is that the prices are slightly high. In addition to the 2 burgers that were around $4-$5, my honey had a pop, and onion rings. I only had a small (which was not small at all) peanut butter malt shake. The malt shake was peanut butter malt heaven! It was super sweet, so not something I'd get often, but it was quite tasty. I saw up on the menu board that they have sundaes with the option of marshmallow topping. This is one of my fave toppings combined with hot fudge, so I will definitely be back to try out a sundae. The onion rings were tasty but were really on the small side for the price. Our total bill came to $18, and I felt it a little high for the amount of food we got, especially with it being fast food. However, the food was really good, the burgers were bursting with flavor, and if I had to compare it to anything, I would say the Ranch tastes a lot like Dick's but only better. read more

First time visiting this restaurant. Ordered the Deluxe burger with cheese and requested onions. When I got home, I noticed there were no onions, the bun was huge while the beef patty was thin and burnt/overcooked (hard). Definitely not worth the over $7 I paid. I was last here about 3-4 years ago, and I swear at least one of the employees looked the same. Surprising!! I had whichever burger has all the regular burger toppings. It was pretty good and filled me up. I had barely eaten anything that day, so that meal was definitely satisfying. It cost about $5. I didn't have cash on me so I was pretty happy they accepted credit/debit! For a drive-in burger joint type place, I'll definitely say it's worth four stars. While I was there, I saw a couple of people that were probably in their early 20's that were obviously on a date. I was surprised by that because... frankly... that's not the kind of place I'd go for that occasion (and eat in). Taking that food to a park or scenic spot would be fine. Eating in means there's a good chance that the peace of your date will be interrupted by somebody's way-too-excited/loud child and... well, that just doesn't sound like fun to me! read more

The ranch is everything that is holy about hamburgers. I miss this gem now that I am far, far away in Austin. Is it the thin perfectly cooked patty? Is it the crispy crinkle cut fries? Is it the banana shake? I really don't know...but it is ALL right at the Ranch Drive In! If you come, you need to be aware of a few things. This is not a CHAIN, and you are going to pay a bit more for quality ingredients. I think the complaints on price here on yelp often do not take that into consideration. Second, they have a solid staff of teenagers trying to make a buck after school, etc. I want to believe that they pay them a decent wage, and try to staff more than your typical chain would. Third, non chains have more overhead! If its your first time, get the Bacon Ranch, Fries (small is plenty) and treat yourself to a shake. So money. Wow, it's taken me a while to stop in and I'm glad I did. My family and I were going to the nearby golf park, but I told my husband we should eat burgers first so we could burn it off exploring the old course. Duh. I got a Deluxe burger, my husband got the Bacon Ranch Burger and my daughter got a grilled cheese. The burger buns were so soft and buttery, the meat perfectly grilled and tender, and the burger dressing pretty tasty. I did add ketchup to my burger for extra pizzazz, but it didn't really need it. I stole some of my husband's bacon to add to mine and I would say I should've gotten my own bacon. Anyway, all around great burger. I'm not a huge fan of crinkle fries, but they were okay. My daughter's grilled cheese though, a buttery delight! It's just plain 'ole white bread and american cheese, but all that butter...yum! There were tables open when we got there with a few people waiting on orders, so not too busy, but not empty. Our food came out pretty quickly, which was nice. Staff were helpful and friendly. The restaurant seemed clean enough for an older establishment and as to be expected things felt pretty greasy. I am glad I live close by. I'm planning on coming more often and will definitely recommend this place, although I'm sure most people know about it already. read more

This is not an upscale burger joint. But if you want to remember days gone by, or create fun memories as a teenager, this is just the spot. It's an old-fashioned burger joint, like what you'd see if you were watching a movie with a 1950's theme (American Graffiti or Happy Days). I love the burgers. Made to order, with big buns, and cheese and/or bacon and/or special sauce. The crinkle fries are probably straight out of Costco but they are deep fried and delicious. The onion rings use real onions. The shakes have amazing flavor choices and are ever so filling. Drinks are served in Styrofoam cups. Seating is limited, but if you come in the summer, you can order from the walk-up window. Be prepared however, especially in the winter, the restroom is outside. read more

Been coming here for over 15+ years and never had any sort of major issue. On 5/25 I ordered a Double Bacon Ranch from a large white gentleman with a goatee, he also gave me my order when it was ready, drove all the way home only to realize he gave me a Chicken Burger. Figured no big deal, next time I come in they'd make it right, maybe order a double ranch at the single ranch price, after all been coming here for 15 years right? Nope, this 16 year old kid said they won't honor the 2 dollar difference and I had to come back with the receipt the same day of. Ridiculous, i'm not running the great double patty meat scam of 2018, i just wanted what I paid for.... I love the old time appeal of this burger stand. Lord knows in a world of cookie cutter crud, from Arby's to McDonald's, its nice that an independent survives and thrives. Alas, the lure and mystique is better than the final product, which of course, must be the food. The burger was decent but nothing made it stand out. The fries frozen and puffy. A friend took me to the Ranch Drive-In for the first time, when I was visiting him. He bragged about it and we were both hungry. This was at the beginning of April when the COVID-19 thing was peaking in King County, so there weren't too many places open to choose from. I'm a definite "foody" and like trying new places, especially when I'm traveling. The Ranch Drive-In did not disappoint. Their service was friendly and they had a great setup for safe ordering. I ordered the Ranch Burger with cheese and small order of fries. The burger was flavorful and I appreciated that it was not messy, because I had to eat in my friend's new car. The small fries were a big portion and I could barely finish them. I highly recommend this place, so check them out when you are nearby! :) read more

Poor ownership and impartial young staff. Owner was making unnecessary comments towards customers behind their back. He was very disrespectful to a girl who bought his crazy expensive food because she sat on the railing for less than a minute. In the midst of getting off he came all the way outside and yelled at her. The part that surprised me was that after all that he started to use vulgar comments against her loud enough so she can hear them. It speaks a lot into his character. Not someplace I want to give business to. Some staff just weren't making things happen. It's sad to see such a poor staff of people mixed with a few good ones here and there. I've been many many times over the years but this time it seemed like the place just fell apart. The dining area inside is comfortable and there's plenty of space outside when the weather's nice. 5 minute walk to Bothell Landing Park. It's a perfect place for delicious burgers, and fried comfort food and the milkshakes are only limited by your imagination. Dozens of milkshake flavors to mix and match. Want a Raspberry Pineapple Malt? You name it, they will make it. Priced very reasonably and always well staffed with busy cooks and order takers who are fast and friendly. The food here isn't amazing, there are better burgers around, but for the price and speed it is really good! I am a fan of the double ranch burger and I like the fries here, I am also a big fan of the burger sauce for dipping the fires. My only real complaint here is that I have to double check my order before I leave because a good amount of time im given the wrong burger. It is exactly what I like when I need that comfort food. The fries are the crinkle kind and I love it. They have a good selection of other items, if you don't want a burger. They also have a great shake flavor list; not just the classic vanilla, strawberry, and chocolate. I love the occasional butterscotch or rootbeer shake. We came to this place for the first time and the dude taking orders in the cashier had the worst attitude, hardly looked at us when we entered through the door, the place was empty and he didn't say a thing, when we approached the cashier to take an order he finally spoke and gave us a look as if he did not want us there, he said "Do you want to order?" We are paying to eat here, the last thing that you can do is respect us and treat us well, I did not even get his name because his attitude was so unbearable that we left immediately. Ugh so this place was delicious. We live a few minutes away and honestly have been eyeing them since we moved in. Last night was date night, so of course we went out and tried them. First of all, literally my only con is that they are expensive, so be prepared to shell out at least $30 per couple if you are both getting the standard burger, fries, drink setup. This is not McDonalds, there are no meals, so you order everything separately. I always dislike this because I know that means it's gonna cost me After I got past my wallet though and to my stomach, oh my gosh. I got the traditional ranch burger and it was juicy and the perfect size. I devoured it in minutes. And the onion fries I ordered with it were also great. Zero complaints about the taste! Bonus points for them getting our food out to us fairly quickly too. There was a pretty big line of people in there for Thursday night and they did not disappoint. So go try them out! read more

I was in the area to get a massage and saw this burger joint on Yelp. I figured it would be worth a try. Once I found the building my first thought was old. The building needs a clear rebrand. The interior is kept clean, but is made up of 10 different shades of brown. The walls need repainted to feel new and less aged in the kitchen area in addition to fixtures and lighting modernized and more rustic (if the barn ranch feel is what they are going for). The registers look as old as the building. Clearly love from the owner is missing. As for the employees, they were hard working and well dressed. On to the food! The fries were delicious for typical hamburger fries. The fries here are very similar to Zips but not soggy (rather crispy). The ranch burger tasted like a classic burger joint. I was not disappointed. I also decided to order a float. The float however was disappointing because they pulled a Wendy's and used soft serve ice cream. The taste in floats with soft serve is just off. As for the burger, it isn't anything memorable. It was made properly to order and tasted alright, but lacked any lasting want to have another. The food here hits pretty heavy. I rate this burger joint 3 of 5 stars for needing some love and to step up the food a bit. Overall this is not a place that I'd put on my map and go out of my way to return. read more

If you dislike McDonalds' Big Mac, I imagine you won't love the ranch sauce on the signature burgers here. But if you like Big Macs, you might love the customizability of bacon, extra beef, and other options on the Ranch Burger. My large order of onion rings was nicely crispy, but I'd prefer honey mustard to dip with; I'm not a fan of tartar sauce, and opted to not open the ketchup packets that were included with my rings/burger. I'm interested in trying some of their other offerings and shakes. From what I could tell, there is no drive-through; park and approach the window. The dining room is open again, at 50% capacity. Well, I used to love this place. But they discontinued the fried mushrooms. And the prices seem a bit higher. So value for the dollar dropped. I ordered ordered a small fries, and not kidding, all the fries were less than 2 inches long save a couple, and tended to be a bit stale. I ordered a double bacon burger, with cheese. My daughter a chicken sandwich, with cheese. My daughter asked for pepper jack. I thought that sounded tasty, so asked for pepper jack on my bacon cheese burger. The counter staff said they couldn't. So as my head exploded in disbelief, I asked what cheese I could have. "Only American" so not wanting non-processed cheese in name only, I dropped the cheese. I asked why I couldn't have pepper-jack, "so we don't run out" ... As I looked at the hordes of no other customers, I was flabbergasted. Then looked at a 34 dollar bill for a large shake, small shake, small fries and 2 sandwiches. I guess for Bothell this is a good deal? The good news is the shakes remain good. The burger, just acceptable, nothing really special. The fries had problems as mentioned above. Vote with your wallets folks. Maybe still give them a try. And someone remind the owner, small things like having pepper jack cheese and declining a customer request to add it to a burger, that's not good customer service. read more

My fries were slightly undercooked. I got to dip my fries in tartar sauce, so I was good. Parking works due to a small amount of tables inside. The service was friendly and polite. God I love this place. I discovered it during my pregnancy and made it a point to go there once or twice (or, okayyyyy, three) times a week. I always blamed it on the baby, but the love affair continues postpartum. What's so great about it? Simple. It's greasy goodness. I order a grilled cheese sandwich with a side of fries every time, and every time the food is consistently delicious and terrible for me. It's hard to find a place that serves grilled cheese sandwiches that aren't frou-froued up with nasty sourdough bread or some sort of aioli or damn avocado or something. Here you get two pieces of white bread and a couple pieces of highly processed cheese between them, and I say without irony or sarcasm that that's absolutely heaven to me. Oh, and the fries are crinkle cut. Heaven. If you're looking for fresh and rustic or farm-to-table, this ain't your place. This is an old school greasy spoon with no fuss or frills. You can dine in or go up to the take out window. They also have outdoor seating, where many of the benches were built in the era before modern waistlines (not usable, say, if you're in your third trimester or carrying food babies). I had never been to this location before and I was met with such rudeness. I was really taken aback at the response I got when I said I was a DoorDasher and was not sure how this worked. The man said "JUST READ IT TO ME!" And I said oh alright well it says a 16 oz. milk shake and he interrupted me and said "you mean a SMALL milkshake???" We used to eat here back in the 90's and early 2k but had moved out of the area in 2002 Ave hadn't been back until recently because we honestly had forgotten all about it. Well... we've recently moved back to the area, a lot has changed in downtown Bothell but thankfully Ranch Drive In has not. We've rediscovered Ranch Drive In and shared it with our now 19year old son for the first time! It's still just as amazing as it was long ago. We've been back twice now since we've moved back. The edges of the buns are crunchy grilled. The burger sauce is quite possibly the best I've had and the burger is perfectly cooked. Not over done. Just perfect. We add cheese and it's the perfect combination of delicious!! Don't forget to add onion rings and a crinkle fry! The only thing we aren't a fan of is the ranch dipping sauce. It's got an odd, different kind of taste. Which is a bummer because are are ranch dippin' fry people. Other than that....we love Ranch Drive In. We just might bring our own ranch! read more

Couldn't figure out how to contact the owner so this will have to suffice. Went in for a take out order earlier this evening. A young boy greeted me at the register and began taking my order. About half way through, a slightly older blonde female employee came up, interrupted my order and began cursing at the boy taking my order as if he was doing something wrong. He then finished my order and I went and sat down. Two older teenage boys walked in drinking from ranch drive in cups without lids. They went right up to the counter and talked to her, obvious acquaintances. She then made another comment to the boy right in-front of them, they snickered. She then proceeded to let the two into the kitchen through the back door where they were hanging out drinking whatever was in their cups. When the boy was asked how his day was, he proceeded to say that it sucked. When asked why, he said "everything at school, then this place, I'm just tired is all." But what he really was saying is that he is tired of being berated by a rude older girl at his place of work. What gives her the right? This restaurant is run by children with no adult supervision. She single handedly is responsible for this 1 star review. She is who you have representing your business. The food is wonderful, but you need to pay better attention to what your staff is doing when you aren't around. read more
