This is how an old school burger joint used to look and smell like! When we first moved to Bothell WA, our friends brought us here. This place has been consistently good all those years. The burgers are pretty good, the onion rings amazing, the fries are good too. This is the perfect place to get Americana take-out food. Friendly folks too -- especially the nice lady who took my order just recently. The only problem is that due to Bothell's congestion and streets it's hard to actually get there. But once you arrive it's well worth it. read more

Pretty darn good food. Considering it's in Bothell, which doesn't have a great selection of places to grub, it's worth your while if you're in town. I was pretty impressed with the burger, pretty good size, ingredients were reasonably fresh. It does get a bit hectic most days at lunch time so prepare yourself to probably not have a place to sit. If you're taking out, you'll be a little uncomfortable because there's not a lot of places to stand and wait. Place is pretty well-kept and clean, lighting is a bit dim and some of the employees can be a bit salty (much like the food), but overall it's a good place to eat. read more

When I'm in a mood for a great burger, Ranch always rises to the top of the list. Last night was the first visit in awhile, and about 4 french fries into my visit I was wondering why I didn't stop by more often. Arrived about 6 on Sat night.. place was packed - standing room only, even so, the service was outstanding. The staff was courteous, attentive and quick. Had the Double Ranch and an order of fries.. Fries were perfect.. Perfect !! Crispy crinkle fries.. Just the way I like them.. Burger was pretty darn good.. pure Americana, no Apple-Robin designer burger (with or without flair) or one of Corporate America's creations from McKitchen-in-the-box-with-Wendy-and-the-King type burger here... Took my mid western girlfriend, who's quite the burger conisseur who raved over her fresh and hot Bacon Burger with added cheese, hot and lightly-salted crinkle Cut French Fries, and delicious Raspberry Milk Shake. Been coming for years for their Blackberry Milk Shakes and burgers. The wait staff are young, but quick and accurate. They accept debit and credit cards. The establishment clean and depicting its old fashioned charm. The prices may seem higher than your well - known chain, but the prices reflect their commitment to the community and their staff. Their prices are similar to Dick's Drive-In, so the prices aren't much of a shock. Worth the detour to downtown Bothell. And have a garden burger :) read more

Great location, old school vibe, simple menu, and easy parking. Add the amazing cheeseburger (aka the Ranch Burger) on top, and this is a winner. Been coming here for a couple years now as it's my favorite burger place in the area. But tonight's service was extremely disappointing. Came in at 9:20 just for a fry and a shake. The girl taking my order did not seem happy when I said it was for here and smugly said "we're closing in 30 minutes" and I responded saying it was no biggie. She rang me up and I said thank you and she ignored me. Feeling guilt-tripped I decided I would take the order to go so when she brought it I asked for a bag and she rolled her eyes and took her time to bag the fries up and I tried to thank her once again and she turned around and walked away. Very disappointed as I used to work in the food industry and would never treat a customer such way regardless of the mood I was in. UPDATE: decided to give you guys another shot last night on 11/1. Extremely disappointed to have the same unpleasant girl gave me horrible customer service and a bad attitude. And never even got a follow up with an owner or manager per my original review! I'm guessing I it would have been in the 60's when my Mom started taking us to The Ranch. The dipped cones, were always my favorite treat, still is. The hamburgers and fries taste the same now as back then. Now I live far away from Bothell, but still stop by when I can. I'm a big fan of Dick's as well and love the unique taste of their food as much as the Ranch's. That's why, the Ranch only gets 4 stars. Seems a bit pricey when compared to Dick's, but there is seating inside and out. Dick's doesn't. read more

One star for the incredibly unimpressive food and the fact that I happened to stop in on "cinco de mayo" last year and the extremely inappropriate behavior and racism displayed by the high school aged untrained and terribly unresponsive and unimpressive staff exhibited was disgusting and sad. This place doesn't deserve anyone's business or at the very absolute least some serious managerial oversight. Don't waste your time. Making fun of the Spanish language, wearing sombreros, and talking in "Mexican" accents is absurd and offensive. read more

So so for the price and quality. Meat was not juicy at all, tasted like dry cardboard. Ordered large size onion ring and the size was questionable since it looked like half of an onion. McDonalds is better than this place for the price and quality. read more

Went here for the first time in 2021. They got the order wrong the first time, and fortunately, I didn't drive off without checking. The burger and onion rings were edible, but way overpriced. No better than Dick's at more than 2x the price. The cherry shake was awful, simply ice cream or whatever mixed with some syrup that didn't even taste like cherry or anything good for that matter. Won't be back. People here seem to like to compare it to Burgermaster, but there is no competition. For example, Burgermaster uses real fruit in their shakes and tastes an order of magnitude better. If you are in a time crunch for a burger in downtown Bothell, then this will do the trick. Otherwise, drive the 15 minutes to Burgermaster, or better yet to Red Mill, and get a real burger treat. Their burgers are good for sure, but it's lacking that 'oomph'. Fries aren't salted which is a major bummer for me. It's just not the same putting salt on them after they've already been plated. Definitely the best burger option within like a 5-10 mile radius. But I really only come here when my mom suggests it. read more

The other reviewers have it right...it's really pricey for just burgers and fries. I convinced my husband to go and try it. The kids are cute. They seem to work hard. My husband's vanilla shake tasted like a creamsicle. Now I love creamsicles, but he wanted vanilla. The return process was a bit awkward as I got the glare back from the milkshake maker. Finally, he made the effort to remake it, but it wasn't an immediate action. The end result was we got the vanilla milkshake. Tasted like vanilla only. 2 burgers, 2 fries, milkshake...near and over $40. I'm thinking we made the effort and I'll let other people make theirs. Over and out! read more

Overall I think this is just another average burger joint with inflated prices. I ordered a deluxe burger, small fry and a water and it was $8. Seems a bit high in my opinion for what I actually received. The staff was very friendly and the crinkle fries were a nice touch. read more

This place really just isn't worth your time or money when there are so many different and better options. Overall, the food wasn't bad and was slightly above average, but we left feeling ripped-off!! We ordered a bacon burger, small onion rings and large drink which cost a whopping $15.09!!!! The small onion ring alone was $3.79 and consisted of only 5 onion rings!!! That comes out to .83.4 cents per onion ring (including the tax) If you want much better food at a much better value, try the Habit Burger Grill. Their food is amazing and you can feed TWO people for just a couple bucks more than you can at the ol' rip-off ranch!!! My friend who lived in Bothell all of their life recommended this place. Always drove by and finally decided to try it out. The burger was standard and the fries was good. "The River" soda was my favorite. The kids working are super nice and the owner has done a good job keeping the place running. A good hangout spot definitely! read more

Ranch Drive In is the best basic burger place I know of on the east side. We don't come here often, but we're never disappointed when we do. Judging by some other reviews, maybe the quality of the burgers depends on who is working the grill and whether they overlook it. I haven't had a bad burger here. I love the fries and the onion rings. Hubby and I usually order both and spilt them so we can have some of each without overeating. I also almost always get a strawberry shake, and hubby loves their blackberry shake. I've been told their pineapple shake is amazing, but I still haven't wrapped my head around the idea of a pineapple milkshake enough to order one! read more

Burgers were good, both in size and taste. I'm glad they keep onions off the burger and in the fryer. Staff was very friendly, almost Chick-Fil-A nice. The only two downsides were an apparent 'no refill' policy and sundaes were quite pedestrian. read more

For those seeking an eastside alternative to Dick's Drive-In, the Ranch is an almost comparable substitute, and for vegetarians, absolutely perfect! :) Everyone I've brought here has expressed their approval for the burgers, and as a veg, I can say that there veg burger is as good as that 3am drunk big mac meal. Seriously. As big as your head, that amazing goop and cheddar mess, yes. Onion rings are crispy, salty, perfect amount of greasy especially dipped in homemade tarter sauce. Shakes are thick and delicious, they customize ice cream sundaes however you want them, and the shrimp n fries basket is surprisingly good for a fast food type of place. The only thing I wasn't impressed with were the fries. Especially when Dick's isn't too far away, I feel like fresh-cut and fresh-fried is kind of important, and these taste like baked frozen krinkle fries. Bleh. The Ranch Drive-In is a classic, a neighborhood hero and friend, a place parents take their kids, high school youth run for decades, tacky and greasy and perfect. read more

Fries/drinks are around an additional $2-3 EACH! It's about $12 for just a burger+drink+tax. Service: Usually okay. Takes a while to get your order, but I've always been there when it is busy. Minus the 15 minute wait for a milkshake due to the employees forgetting about me (2 families behind me got their full meals before me), I would say the milkshake was worth the wait. It was very creamy and the flavor was good. The employees were also very respectful and were apologetic for the delay. I think I would try this place again for the food next time. read more

Went on Sunday and was totally disgusted with the filthy restaurant. Run by a group of young boys that handled food without gloves. One boy swept the floor, handled garbage and without washing hands, handled food. Ice cream machine was disgustingly dirty. So sad! Could not eat there. read more

Disappointing visit. $32 for 2 of the lower-priced burgers, 1 regular order of fries, 1 order of rings & 2 shakes. I know prices are what they are, but for $16/head for a drive-in, it should be good, and it wasn't. I called in the order at 4:30, asking if it could be ready at 5:00; the kid taking the order seemed put off to have to time the order, rather than just fire it all at once. My wife had the special burger with cheese, which was anything but special: dry meat, really weak bun, ketchup & mustard. Just TRY to find something special about that. I had the namesake Ranch burger, and it was ok. We split the burgers so she could at least have some tastes resembling a decent burger, since the special was so bad, and on the first bite of her 1/2, I agreed. Fries were just ok, as were the rings. Didn't feel like a good value, though; portion size was, how we say, frugal. Shakes were o.k. So nothing great, most stuff just o.k., and 1 thing really bad, for 32 bucks. We've been to the Ranch before, the last time was a few years back. I remembered it as a bit pricey for drive-in fare, but good quality. Well, our visit tonight was still pricey, in particular for the quality we received. Too bad. read more

This place is a Bothell tradition. The best quick burgers around, great onion rings, and a bunch of drive in goodies. Good for dine in, take out, and excellent for kids. The dining area is a little small, so won't work for big groups at peak times. read more
