Ahhh, the Ranch... sigh... such fond memories... The Ranch is a famous burger joint in Bothell. Family owned & operated, i remember the days back in High School when i would work my 3 and 4 hour shifts (4 hours was SO long! HA). Yep, the Ranch was my first job! Run by all high school and early college kids. We would get in ketchup and mustard fights, sneak ice cream when the cameras weren't looking, lock each other in the walk-in cooler, whip each other with bleach towels... and occasionally actually work. Fun times! As for the food (because who really cares about my high school job??)i never seem to make it back there very often, but i dream of the bacon burger! And the Ranch Burger with GRILLED ONIONS. And the fries in tartar sauce. And the dipped ice cream cones. The burgers are sloppy and messy and so delicious. You must order a la carte and bring a wad of cash. So it's pretty much glorified fast food, but it's old fashioned and charming and worth the slightly overpriced menu, and it makes me remember that at one time in my life, my hands always smelled of pickles. read more

This was a waste of money. Maybe I have high expectations coming from the Midwest where there is a burger joint on every corner, but this place sucked. The meat was good and the toppings were fresh- I will give them that. However, the bun could not have been more bland. It was dry, flavorless, and literally fell apart before entering my mouth. The fries were standard cut, frozen, buy in bulk from Costco fries.. And of course doused in salt. At the very least they could have used some seasoning. On top of that, the portions are tiny, the prices are high (for the product you're getting), and the service is slow, rude, and not helpful. Growing up in Bothell, The Ranch, is the place! Made a recent visit to find that the quality has remained the same. The Ranch is AWESOME! Great burgers (gotta order with bacon!) made in the old fashioned drive-in way. Shredded lettuce and tart mustard. Get a DOUBLE RANCH with bacon, cheese and onions! GOOD!! Their crinkle fries are great! Only better with the squeeze pour ketchup bottles. I have to admit I have wasted my fair share of ketchup squirting out at the Ranch :) Expensive but worth it. You are going to pay like $15 each by the time you get burger, fries and drink (their cokes have the good ice!) Also a no-brainier for their soft serve cones and chocolate dipped cones. Fun!! Went by with two friends on one of their birthday's. Bought us all lunch and paid $29.00 for 3 burgers, 2 shakes, 1 pop, and 1 order of fries. The lady at the counter was older and rude, and told me she would bring my debit receipt to the table for a signature. I said thanks and sat down, when she brought a pen and a 'reciept', I saw that there was no total. So, above my signature I wrote the total (hello, what idiot would sign a blank check?) - and she yelled at me, "YOU CANT WRITE TIPS ON THERE!". I looked up at her, and said "believe me, I'm not. I'm writing the total since it isn't printed here." She said the total was on my receipt, and that should have sufficed. As she stomped away, feeling as though she had made some point, I have never been so temped to slap a b*tch. Also, my friends and I took two cars and were coming South on Bothell-Everett Highway. You have to do some creative maneuvering to get in to the parking lot, but with friends it is funny to see who gets there first and going which route. I hadn't been to the Ranch for several years. I got the Double Ranch with cheese and onions. It is an OK burger. Sometimes, they are dripping with grease, so be careful what you eat them over! Definitely filled me up for 6 bucks and one of the best burgers in Bothell. Definitely several steps up from McDs and Burger King. Hmm - makes me wonder - lots of checks for waiter service - The Health Department considers waiter service where you sit at your table and give your order. Most Burger Joints and Pizza Places are "Limited Service" restaurants - you place your order at the counter and they MIGHT take your order to your table. read more

Oh my..... can we say retro with a capital R!! This is the standard fried burger, what McD's used to be. They serve it up with little fan-fair but plenty of "That 70's" show-esk, envision the show, minus the bad haircuts and disco ball, and you'd have the style of place in mind. From what I remember of the menu it is limited to burgers, fries, shakes, and chicken strips, there might have been more but I stopped reading it after seeing the burger, wanting to try the original. Not bad for the old-style fried on a flat grill, no burn marks here burger. Milkshakes were tasty and they have a nice selection, soft serve ice cream is a treat not to miss. 4 stars you ask even when the meal was just okay? The sizes were great, meal was okay, been there about 3-4 times and the staff is always professional and fast, amazing since most look like they are still in high school! Old-fashioned burger joint the way it was before McDonalds, BurgerKing and Wendy's drover almost everyone else out of business. Family owned and staffed largely by old ladies from a local church group. they're very sweet even if they write slow. Burgers are great, large and juicy, fries are great (large order will feed 3), and they have great soft ice cream, too. Get there before Bothell High gets out for lunch or you'll have a hard time getting a seat inside. Outside seating is OK in summer only. Ranch burger, fries and a coke will cost you about $8. If you have any reason to go to Bothell ("for a day or a lifetime"), you really ought to stop in and see how "it used to be". It's worth it. Only 4 stars because to get to the bathroom you have to go in from the outside through the back of the kitchen. But face it, you're there for the burgers, you can hold it for awhile, can't you? read more

First of all I'll start by saying that I 100% realize that this is not an ideal restaurant for someone to eat at that's plant based. However they have a veggie burger in the menu but it's vegetarian and not vegan. I kindly asked if I could simply order a regular burger without the meat so it would be just a bun with veggies. The nice cashier asked his manager and then came back and said they could totally do that BUT I would have to order the Ranch Burger and couldn't order just a "regular" burger. Now the Ranch burger is made with 1/4 lb of beef and I'm not eating the beef so it seemed a bit strange that they would make an exception like this but only in a way that benefited them. So whatever, I order the Ranch burger ask for no meat, no cheese, so dressing.... so at this point it's a bun with lettuce, pickle, tomato and ketchup. I ask if I can order sautéed onions and mushrooms on it. Nice cashier Nick says "sure no problem". I pay for my food and my friends food and we are good to go. Then before we leave the counter this girl runs up to Nick and whispers something I can't hear. All of a sudden Nick turns to me and says "I'm sorry but my manager said I now have to charge you for a mushroom burger instead since you want mushrooms". So now the mushroom burger is $2 MORE than the Ranch burger because not only are there mushrooms but it comes with Swiss cheese..... which I'm not eating! Listen I get it, I have a complicated order. But to take my order and then have a "manager" say I have to now be charged MORE after all is said and done when I'm literally eating a bun, with lettuce, tomato, pickles, onion, mushroom, and ketchup is absurd and AWFUL customer service. Lastly I'll close by saying the very next day I took my son to Burger Master on Bothell Everett Hwy, I asked the same questions, ordered the SAME exact burger and was charged $1.65!!!!! Now, would I have been willing to pay more? Absolutely! However it was SO refreshing to be treated kindly and not like I was a burden because I have dairy allergies and I don't eat meat. read more

It's the Kenmore version of Dicks. Sort of. They have crispy krinkle-cut fries rather than greasy shoestrings, and the burgers are wider and thinner than most. Good, but not great, but not really expensive either. If I wanted a burger in Bothell, I'd probably come here more often, but they only take cash. That's an automatic 1-star reduction. read more

I'm not often in Bothell, but I stop here every time I am. There are two things I come here for: 1) Onion rings 2) Shakes The onion rings are perfection--crisp breading on the outside, with soft, tasty onions on the inside, AND they don't fall apart when you eat them! I would very happily eat a bucket full of them. I don't ordinarily drink shakes, but I love them here. They're thick and flavorful and not cloyingly sweet or artificial-tasting. The prices are a tad high, sure, but I don't mind paying a bit of a premium to support a local, family-owned place. The burgers are good--not in the same league as some of the higher-end burger places around town, but definitely better than any fast-food burger you'll find. The patties are a bit small, and sometimes greasy, but the toppings are always fresh (bacon comes nice and crunchy, which is a big plus in my book) and the buns come toasted. The issue could just be that the shakes and onion rings are so amazing that the burgers are a bit of a let-down in comparison. If you're after the perfect burger, this might not be your place, but if you want a sweet treat or an order of perfect onion rings, you've got to give this place a shot! read more

This place is alright. Tried the Ranch Burger with cheese and it's OK as far as it goes - (too) thin pattie, (too) thick bun, fresh condiments, good taste. The crinkle fries were above average - crispy and not too salty. The onion rings were the best part of the meal - good old fashion drive-in style and crunchy on the outside and tender inside. Drinks were cold, but a bit stingy. And using styrofoam cups is not very green! I like that it's a homey place with a history. And they give you a choice of eating inside or outside. Everyone we dealt with was friendly and helpful. The food came out pretty quickly. I would choose this place over a chain, if I was in the area. But it's not the destination that its reputation seems to make it. I can find a better burger closer to home (and with a view of Lake Washington). read more

I've been eating here since I was a little kid and it still has the same great menu that i've always loved! They have excellent burgers, hot dogs, french frieds, dipped cones - and I'm weirdly fond of the ice they use in their drinks. I enjoyed the ambiance of the spot. Lil pricey for my taste (plain burger $2.99 with ketchup and mustard. Cheese 0.30) but so is kid valley. This place is nowhere near. Burger was a lil salty but at least it was seasoned. I also believe their special burger sauce is Dicks tarter sauce. Would I come again? Had no idea there was a spot like this in my area, but I had a friend recommend this place to me. I was pretty surprised by what kind of burgers I could get, but naturally, I'd order the biggest thing available which was the Double Ranch Bacon burger. Got a small boat of fries and a fountain drink to go with it. The burger was pretty good! The bacon in the burger sure was something else, it had a nice taste to it and I enjoyed how thick cut the bacon was. Also, this is the first time I've ever been satisfied with crinkle cut fries. They were actually crispy and not soggy/gross. One special thing I'd like to note is that they use pellet ice for their fountain drinks. That's awesome! Now that I know where this place is, I'll definitely be returning soon when I don't feel like cooking dinner. read more

Normally this place is decent, and I would consider a higher score but after tonight? I mean for a cheap greasy burger I prefer Dicks Drive In so my standards aren't too high. But tonight geez louise, where to start... when you walk in 3 kids are joking around during shift change taking their time to complete the process, while customers are standing around waiting to be assisted. Even this crochity old lady yelled at them asking if they were intentionally ignoring their customers. Anyway, so I order my food. I asked for the fries to be extra crispy, they didn't write it down so again, I said, please make these extra crispy. They said OK. My dinner consisting of 2 burgers, 1 grilled chese sandwich, 1 hot dog with toppings, 1 corn dog, a drink, a sundae and 4 sides cost $51 When I get my food I ask, are the fries extra crispy, they said, yes without even looking in the bag. Had to wait a couple extra minutes for my drink and almost beg for a drink carrier... over all tonight this entire staff seemed overly disorganized with zero communication standards. I get home. No corn dog in my bag (which is like $3, way too much for a store bought corn dog). Hot Dog plain, nothing on it.... and to top it off, none of the fries are extra crispy. I have to seriously consider if I want to go here again in the future. Not my best experience, plus in the end I got ripped off for the cost of the vs. what I actually received in the bags. For the time being, if you want a burger, Find a 5 Guys, head up to Teddy's in Canyon Park, take a 15 minute drive to Lake City and get Dicks, or head to Woodinville and get Red Robin. read more

Quick service, good prices, good food. Inside is small, about 8 tables or so. Filled up pretty quick by late lunchtime on Saturday. I wouldn't say service was friendly, but they weren't mean either. Looked like a bunch of teenage girls that would rather be elsewhere. They weren't rude or anything, just didn't look happy! Burger's are between $5ish - $8ish, depending what you ordered. I'd say comparable to similar places like Five Guys. My son is somewhat of a burger connoisseur (no, not mcdonald's, jitb), and he said they are okay, but five guys is better. Everything is ala carte, you order the burger, fries, rings, drinks are separate, and a bit pricey for those actually! Burger was nicely put together, skimpy on the toppings. Didn't fall apart and drip all over the place when you ate it. Kid had some bacon ranch burger, nothing special he said. I had the fish burger, basic cut of fish, lettuce and tarter. Decent size, I wasn't able to finish. Other kid with us had the fish and chips. Standard, but small, fish and chips, 3 pieces of pre-frozen fish, definitely not worth it. I would probably stop by again if I am in the area and looking for something quick (which is how we found this in the first place), but wouldn't make a trip out of it. read more

Haven't been there in a decade and was surprised at its decline. Onion rings had micro onion pieces encased by thick over fried batter. Burger bun was extremely dry and you could use the eternal 'tasted like cardboard' comparison. Burger had next to nothing but the meat and the meat had little flavor. Malts had some flavor however found large glob of malt stuck to bottom of cups. Meals' one grace was that even though the quality was not good there was a lot of fries and rings. I finally tried this place after hearing so many people rave about it. I get it that it's practically a local landmark, but to be honest, I didn't find it to be anything special. I ordered the ranch burger with bacon, which would have been fine, but it was pretty well done. I don't like any pink in my burgers, but this one tasted like a briquet and was dry as a result. I think it would have been fine had it not been crispy. In addition to my burger, I got a side of cole slaw. The problem was it was partially frozen. I'm not sure how that happened. If you ever wondered what burger joint in the 60's must have looked like you don't have to jump in a DeLorean, just head on over to the Ranch Drive-In. This place has a menu so unchangeable that it's carved in wood hanging behind the registers inside. They've taken one thing off the menu ever, and it was a steak sandwich. You can still read it on the menu board because they had to carve it off of there and the ghosts of the letters remain. The tray liners are also pretty neat, they have this desert cowboy scene on them to enhance the whole ranch image. I ordered a Ranch Bacon Burger and it was pretty good. Lots of bacon and the burger wasn't too greasy. I also had a cherry milkshake which was very good. They have lots of other milkshake flavors to try as well, such as peanut butter and marshmallow. The fries were alright, they were crispy crinkle cut fries, but like another reviewer mentioned, they must fry these up in the same oil that they fry their fish in because every once in awhile I'd get a real fishy tasting fry. I'd like this place more, except for two main things. First, it's cash only. Second, for a fast food burger place it's pretty expensive. Another dollar or two and you'd be in Red Robin territory for expense. While the food is definitely good, it's not good enough to fully overcome these shortcomings. read more

I'd driven past this place 100's of times and decided to finally stop and try it. The burger was great, bacon was perfect (rarity indeed), and the crinkle fries were fun too! I have nothing but great things to say about the food I've had. Now, lets talk about the ladies taking my order. If the owner is reading this, fire most of them ASAP. I've talked with only one nice waitress here and the rest are all part of the 'club' and come off as real b****es. I was polite and didn't even ask any stupid questions, yet they treated me like some imbecile. I will return here with my gf to try and see if they treat me any better.
