The service is always really good. However, since it's been taken over by new management, the menu has changed and certainly the food has changed. The burgers are made good but we have not had good luck. we had ordered a taco salad and the special of the day which was a barbecue brisket sandwich. The sandwich was very fatty and not good. This place is very highly rated. So decided to check out one of their unconventional burgers. In the end, their creativity in burger design is what gets them the stars I'm giving them. I ordered a Choriqueso burger, which I thought was innovative given I've never seen a Choriqueso burger before. However, it doesn't get any higher stars due to the execution of its restaurant operations. Let's break down the good and the bad. The good: You can select from a wide variety (12+) of creative, RGV-themed burgers. The quality itself? Eh... these are very average tasting burgers. They don't particularly stand out compared to the other local burger restaurants. And compared to burger chains like Shake Shack? They don't stand a chance. I'd give them a 4 for burger variety and a 3 for food quality. The restaurant is pretty clean and spacious. The bad(ish): Again, quality in general was barely on-par. My Chori-queso burger had a patty bordering on burned. Our table was stabilized by a clump of napkins below one of the table legs. Our food took maybe 25+ minutes to come in. The last word: I like to ask myself: would I enjoy coming back here? But with Ranch House my response is: why would I come here versus a Big Daddy's Burgers or a Whataburger? I'd come back for convenience (if I lived right by here) but, Whataburger also offers convenience plus speed. After the pandemic review. I have been eating less carbs. So I was worried on the selection on the menu. Because this place is know for their hamburgers. I have tried the avocado burger in the past. Also had the BBQ burger. They are mountain topped high burgers that fill you up. There is no room for fries after you Finish burgers. The burgers have stayed consistent since since the businesses opened. The meat is still thick and juicy. They have very few selection on alcoholic beverages. They used to have more prior to the Covid-19 pandemic. They offer their special "Thirsty Thursday"Happy hour all day on Thursday. They appeared to be short staffed but they do have some good waiters that check to see if you need anything else. They offer hand sanitizer and the restrooms are kept clean. I recommend this place. At least try it once. By the way, they will also make bunless burgers upon request and they also have salads on their menu if you are trying low carb meals. Just let them know that you want it wrapped in . Or you will just get a piece of ground beef with all the toppings on top. read more

Came here for the weekly cheat meal because I was craving a good burger. Lo and behold their burgers were absolutely horrible. Overcooked, lacked fat content within the meat, and had no seasoning. Toppings that were added to the burger were lacking in the amount. Our waitress was very nice, got us everything we asked for and was attentive to our drinks. This hidden burger place in Weslaco is a bit south of 1015 street and old 83rd. Though burgers are their specialty, the menu is quite extensive. This being my first visit, I took a risk and ordered something that was not a burger. I mildly regretted that decision. I went with a chicken fried chicken. I got a big portion, there's no denying that. A side of mash and fries complimented my order. The chicken fried chicken looked promising. Although many might enjoy it, I didn't like the way it tasted very much. Of course, the standard I set for chicken fried chicken is, "does it taste like the Luby's" one. In this case, it didn't, so take that as you may. The fries serving and mash were great though. My wife ordered a burger. It was rather thick and juicy looking. It looks plain when they bring it to you, but that's because they have a salad bar where you can dress it to your liking. Since my wife could only finish halve of it because of how thick it was, I enjoyed the rest. Next time I go, I will stick with what the name proclaims to make the best...the burgers. read more

The one in Mission is close by so I go there more often but have also been to the others. My go-to meal has always been their Fire In The Hole burger. I even learned to make a close copy of their garlic/habenero sauce at home. The last time I went, they replaced this sauce with another, chunkier sauce. I it would have been my first time there, it would have all been good. However, I had my tastebuds set on the original sauce and when I got this, I was a bit disappointed. It is a good enough salsa in its own right, but wasn't what I was looking forward to. The service is always good and they accommodate my dietary concerns as best as they can. We have always been to the Mission restaurant where we've had the hamburgers and the chicken fried steak. Both were very good. Now we live in Weslaco and have been there for the burgers which were great. Today we went to Weslaco for the chicken fried steak. When it came to the table it was hanging over the edge. Then when you cut into it you find an inch or more of just breading all the way around the steak. I don't eat fried flour or whatever they bread with. Then there was the mashed potatoes with brown gravy and the mac & cheese which were so salty that we couldn't eat them. We will stick with the burgers from now on. read more

Well this restaurant is now called Rustic Ranch and the change is amazing. The service was excellent, food was out of the kitchen quickly and cooked to perfection. I had the Fried Chicken sandwich that was cooked perfectly, crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The chicken breast was twice the size of the bun. We will be back. read more

This restaurant is surprisingly good. They have good size portions. I ordered a buffalo chicken salad. Like I mentioned before it was a large portion. The greens were crisp and the salad was pretty loaded. They also add pineapple in it. I was skeptical at first, however the sweetness of the pineapple really compliments the buffalo sauce on the chicken. I am a big salad eater and I was impressed with the salad I was served. They also have BBQ on the menu. They have plenty of options to chose from. We plan on coming here again soon! read more

The manager must not have felt like working, because we were turned away the minute we walked in the door. The manager was rude, told us they had no customers so she decided to close! Very very disappointed in out latest trip (only the 2nd) to Ranch House. Granted, it was on a holiday--4th of July. A wait was expected. They told me 30-45 min but it actually was about 10. Now I wonder if it was to discourage waiting. Anyway, got a table for 2 in good time. There were several long tables of 10+ patrons. Not a huge place to begin with. Waitress came & got our drink order. Brought our drinks and then took food orders. I noticed a couple at the next table who looked like they had been there awhile. I wondered what they had ordered that could take so long. The wife kept fanning her husband, so I thought he was just hot. I was too. I heard their waitress tell them it was on its way. The poor man eventually had to eat a banana out of wife's purse; he must have been diabetic. Still no food. We arrived at 12:30. At 1:30 still no food. Waitress brought free tortilla chips and a weird hot(temperature) brown salsa. Why was it brown? 2:15. Still no food. She refilled my Diet Coke. I'd already pounded a Dos Equus earlier. 2:30. Food comes. Big giant cheeseburger with A-1 and bacon and 4 onion rings. I saw on the menu an order was 8. I didn't say anything. We needed more pickles (they bring lettuce, tomato, onion & pickles on a separate plate after you order). We'd eaten the pickles waiting for our orders. And I needed a knife to cut my burger in half. No waitress around. I got up and went to the station where they keep the lettuce and served myself more pickles and asked for a knife. Got a rolled set of flatware different from the one that I was given initially. It had a steak knife!! So we proceed to dig in. Mine was wonderful. Crispy breaded onion rings, burger cooked all the way through like I like it. Nice soft bun but not too soft that it falls apart. Son's burger was the mushroom Swiss. It was cold. After all that wait, I said I'm calling the manager. Waitress never checked on us, they were all grouped around the window awaiting food orders. They knew service was s**t. Never did see a manager walking around. So I called the waitress over, sent the plate back, she apologized, and we wondered how long this was going to take. But in less than 5 minutes, here it came, a fresh burger, steaming hot. It's not the waitress's fault. Son was wary cause he's worked in restaurants, he's seen what goes on in the kitchen to food that gets sent back. Not in every restaurant, but it happens. The bill came to $36 and I left $6 tip. That table should have turned over twice in our time there. No explanation of why the wait. Let too many cooks off for the holiday? Grill down? Ran out of hamburger meat? I don't know. We left that restaurant at 3:00. Don't know if I'll ever go back. Certainly not on July 4th!! read more

I missed this place! This restaurant was located in the same location a while back and used to be inside a house. But sadly it had a big fire and had to close. While the family re-opened the restaurant in Mission, I always hoped they would bring it back to the Weslaco area. Finally did and while it's not a house anymore it has a lot more room despite the lack of kitschy items it had before. Burgers are always fantastic. You dress your own burgers with onions, lettuce, etc ala Wallbangers or Fuddruckers. I love the fire in your hole burger! Not as hot as you would expect. I have really only had the burgers but overall I haven't had a desire to stray yet. I will take the plunge eventually! Must try! read more

OMG the burgers are to die for. I am so happy that my Boss and I came to Ranch House Burger. I think the name of the burger that I had was called the Boarder Burger. It was delicious. The service at this location is amazing. When you walk in they have a menu with the specials and specials are a steal for what you get. Had a late lunch at this location today. Party of three. The place was pretty packed so we figured a short wait must be worth the food. We were wrong. Our order: Cowboy burger combo (fried and tea) Chicken fried chicken (sides Mac and corn) Fried fish and shrimp (sides mashed potato and corn) 1. Combo - tea was so watered down we mistook it for water. Hamburger was good. 2. Chicken fried chicken - was extremely greasy and rubbery. The Mac and cheese was very watered down and the corn was fine. Came with a small side salad that was good and some Texas toast. 3. Fish and shrimp - fish was almost completely raw in the middle. Maybe they fried it frozen? Idk but it was gross. The mashed potatoes had no flavor and the corn was fine. We will not be dining here again. read more

My 1st time at this location & loved it! Everyone greeted us right away & was super friendly & attentive the entire time as well as said goodbye on our way out. All the food is very well served/big portions, super delicious, hot & fresh ingredients. My only "complaint" is that their fire in the hole sauce was just a tad different than the Mission location. Reviews on yelp were what had us go to this place. Ordered sweet tea and got Dr Pepper then when exchanged couldn't drink it tasted funny. So you'd think a restaurant that has brisket on half it's menu would have it, but NO brisket in the place. Great chili cheese fries and husband enjoyed his burger. read more
