Just about the worst burger I've had in South Texas: the meat was dry, tasteless and way overcooked; everything else was saturated with grease from the onions I'd mistakenly ordered. I had the Mexican Dinner, really great tasting food. The taco shell and the chalupa shell were fresh, in-house made not from some factory. The enchilada was stuffed full of ground beef and was seasoned just right. Finally the rice and beans had a very good flavor. My GF had the catfish and she said it was very tasty. Great place ! This was our first time and we both had the cheeseburger baskets. They were delicious. They have great specials. Definitely going back to try the carne guisado. It's a little thin, but apparently that's how y'all like your burgers around here; in the Midwest when you go to a non-chain burger joint, chances are you're going to get a FAT patty, amen. These burgers are seasoned, hot, juicy, and assembled in such a way you can eat it while driving without it falling apart on you. I've been here before, but don't remember it being a 2, I probably would've given it a higher rating then. Here's how I came up with my rating for this establishment. 1. Chips and salsa: poor (chips don't have an authentic taste & the salsa is a spicy tomatoe paste) 2. Dish: Enchiladas (cheese; good & beef; edible) rice: fair ; beans: fair (too much lard) 3. Sweet Tea: ok, but definitely not worth $2.89 4. Ambiance: Ok, but dirty; however the restroom was like a different world (from the ceiling to the floor, NICE, and smelled cleaner than the eating area. ) 5. Staff: Waitress was ok, but wasn't too attentive. (Maybe because she was preoccupied with the other waitresses by the cashier area.) I don't think I will be returning to this place, but after reading the reviews regarding the south texas burger, I just might. Possibly, but the chances of not returning are pretty high. read more

The walls were decked with Marilyn Monroe and Elvis memorabilia, and the booths were soft and comfortable.It had an overall enjoyable atmosphere. This place is known for their burgers, hence the name " Salazar's Burgers". I ordered the Old Fashioned Cheeseburger combo. It came with fries and my choice of drink. It was definitely a generous helping, however I value quality over quantity, much like the general public. My french fries were beautifully golden, however, they were raw on the inside. The burger was great though! I ordered a slice of Apple pie, because the waitress said that it comes from a local bakery, and i was curious. Although they gave me more Cool Whip than pie, the taste was amazing. Warm and wonderful. This is my first visit to Salazar's, but i will be back soon. Hopefully the fries will be better next time. read more

My buddy Rey Salazar, no relation to the owners, told me about this place and I've been a fan ever since I first had their burgers.
