Nothing forced, just a solid spot with character. The tribute area really stood out to me. You can tell it actually means something and wasn't just put up for looks. It adds a lot to the overall experience. The food is what brings you back. Everything tastes fresh, like it was made with care. And those jalapeños... I still think about them. Found this spot by chance. We were leaving the craps tables and wanted to stop for lunch on the way home. Hopped on yelp, and it was 2 miles away! We have driven by it so many times and I never noticed it, I don't know how, but I didn't. We chose to sit outside in the enormous patio area. Lawn and a stage and an outdoor bar. This place gets fun at night I imagine! We had the one way hot pastrami and the cheesesteak. They were out of onion rings, I was sad. The crosscut fries were good but they weren't onion rings;) Service was fine. Dog friendly. Lots of parking. Country music. Lots to look at decor wise. Stopped in on the way home from a weekend at Cache Creek and ordered the Steak Sandwich. What came out was the worst steak sandwich I've ever seen or tasted in my life. Undercooked hunks of meat between two buns. What you see in the pic is actually the result of them cooking it more, but it was still raw inside. Beer was cold which is why they get 1 star but the local hillbillies at one end of the bar heckling the female bartender and other patrons ruined even that experience. read more

We have lived in the area for many years. And have stopped in to get a bite at Road Trip Bar and Grill periodically. The services was generally ok but not always. The food was usually why we came back. We enjoyed the theme of the place but found if you were not a regular, some of the staff ignored you as a customer. We accepted those shortcomings as we liked the place overall, but... On December 6, 2025, my spouse and I decided to grab some lunch there. It was fairly busy, but got a table right away. Our server was a woman we had dealt with before. She was usually attentive and kind. We placed our orders and were watching some college football on the big screens. After about 20 minutes, our server said she was going on break and our food would be out soon. After several more minutes a chunky blonde server brought my wife's food out and said mine was on its way. My wife noticed her fries were cold but her sandwich was fine. My sandwich and fries arrived a few moments later. It appeared to have over toasted bread on top. I turned the sandwich over and the bread on the underside was completely burnt. I had to wait several minutes for the chunky blonde server to get her attention, as she was deep in conversation with what were probably regulars across the room. When I finally got her attention, I told her that I could not eat the sandwich as the bread was charred. I showed the burnt bread to her. She made no comment, but took my meal to the kitchen and came back to say I could wait for the cook to make another sandwich. I told her that my wife was almost done with her meal and I didn't want to wait another one to be made, as it had been over a half hour since we had ordered. After my wife had finished her lunch (yes she offered to share) our original server came back aware of the issues and apologized for the problems. Her comment was, "that sandwich should have never left the kitchen." She said she had taken the cost of my meal off the bill and left it for us to pay. We made our payment for my wife's food and tipped for that. We never made a big deal about the issue, but I just didn't want to eat burnt food. On our way out, the chunky blonde server and what appeared to be the cook stood by the entrance to the kitchen looking at us. She was apparently eating the burnt sandwich. They both laughed and she said thanks for the free food, it is great. We did not respond and continued out the door. We were definitely angry and disgusted by the behavior, but glad we did not have them make more food. We will never be back to the Road Trip Bar and Grill again! read more

My husband & I decided to check this place out for an early dinner Fri 7/3 around 5pm. The place is actually pretty big inside & out on their patio. They told us to sit where ever we wanted, so we chose a booth, and France came over to take our drink orders. I got a 20oz Sierra Nevada Hazy $8, and my husband got a 36oz Racer 5 $11 We decided to get an order of homemade Lime Tortilla chips & Guacamole $12, which were good but it was a very small bowl of guac, so it was a challenge to try and make it last with all the chips. The Lime chips only had lime Juice squeezed over them, which made some soggy. For entrees I got the Biker Tator $10 which was HUGE!! It came with several chopped Breaded Chicken Tenders, & I chose American cheese not realizing it would basically be sliced cheese. My husband enjoyed his Spartan Burger & Fries $12 The women's bathroom was clean. France did a good job checking on us, & bringing us TOGO containers. Overall, the prices are pretty decent for the amount of beer & food you get, aside from the Guacamole. Classic American type of place- unpretentious, come as you are and just enjoy yourself. We have been here multiple times, when I first learned how to ride a motorcycle, this was my first "road trip" destination. They have a full bar, a huge outside space suitable for large groups or small ones. There's also a stage outside for events. I have just realized I have never been actually inside - the servers come outside to you. There is an inside seating area from what I can tell but the outside is so nice. My most recent visit the server France took care of us. She has been here since my first visit and does a good job taking care of her customers. She didn't bat an eye when I asked for my sauce on the side and extra lettuce for my sandwich instead of a bun. Very cool of her to accept my picky- ness and not make me feel bad for my requests. The bloody Mary's were so cool! Look at their little faces the benefit of a Bloody Mary is to have a snack and Road Trip provides just that! They informed us the kitchen had an equipment issue and they would probably have to be closing early, but the staff made us feel welcome and we still got our food in a timely manner. Menus were brought right away, and the highlight was the service - very friendly, personable, and accommodating. Plus, it is efficient for both the kitchen and getting served. They are really on top of it here. The menu is fairly standard lunch fare, with primarily burgers, sandwiches, and salads. I chose the One Way Hot Pastrami sandwich with my choice of onion rings. This was washed down with a root beer in a large disposable tumbler. The sandwich was just OK and very difficult to eat. I had to fork and knife most of it. There was no way to pick it up. It was essentially an open face sandwich. The pastrami seemed fresh and was overwhelmed by a lot of melted Munster cheese and miscellaneous toppings, including mustard. The onion rings suffered in that it was mostly a lot of breading and not much onion. I decided I should have had a salad instead. The food was tasty enough yet basic and ordinary. The whole thing came in a plastic basket, and it felt a bit like a throwback to 50s and 60s fast food joints. We took a drive up to north Yolo County and found this place by accident. What a find! For starters, the place looks super retro cool. And every person working there was so nice and really helpful. Our waitress was excellent and the food was off the charts delicious. I ordered a draught beer and was asked "Regular or tall?" Naturally, I said tall. It was a massive frosty mug. It reminded me of a beer in a Bavarian beer hall. The smoked brisket was hands down the best BBQ beef sandwich I've ever had. I'm comparing it with the very best I've had in Texas, Kansas City, Tennessee or down in the Deep South. These guys have set the bar high! Easy 5 stars! Out exploring and wanted to find a place with real hamburgers. Found it and more. The Spare Tire Burger, med rare, was perfect in taste and presentation. It was really the best I have had a long time. Homemade potato salad on the side with iced tea made outside patio seating on a warm but lovely day just the best. By the way, there is a good amount of indoor seating around the bar. Walls inside are well balanced with a lot of things to look at. Outside there is a very large patio with lots of shade. This was our first time here. My wife has passed this place multiple times going to the casino, but I'm not a gambler so I never knew about it. We went to a concert at the casino for my birthday and decided to stop in. I'm glad we did! I have 295 bars book marked on my Yelp and just became 296... Lol! I ordered a pastrami sandwich with sweet potato fries. It was very tasty. Others ordered breakfast, and others assorted lunch items. Been to this local spot many times as a pass through but one thing is always constant - the food is delicious and the portions are hearty. For a roadside diner their food is always fresh tasting. The menu has a wide variety of items so if you're a picky eater you have options. This time around I got the Turkey club sandwich - this hit the spot with the filling piled high. I also like the banana pepper and pickle on the side. FYI, if you get the Spartan burger they will donate a dollar to the local school. Really great to see businesses supporting their community. Got the Spartan burger last time and it is a solid choice too, the sauce on the burger is perfect and you can taste the flavors of all the ingredients without one overpowering the other. "Good Spot for a Beer and a Sandwich." On a hot summer afternoon, this was a perfect oasis to stop and have a cold brew. Of course during the crisis, one must eat outside. They have a nice covered patio with lots of seats. There are convenient hand sanitizers nearby. They're also restrooms outside. It took me awhile to get any service today, but the people here are friendly. I ordered a classic BLT, which arrived promptly. Combined with a cold brew, it was just what the doctor ordered. One thing that really surprised me: They allow smoking right where people are eating outside! I didn't realize that California law allows this, but I think it does. Although it's apparently permissible legally, I really don't want smokers right next to where I'm eating. So overall, a mixed experience. Like the food, like the beer, didn't like smoke.
