This was our first visit to Winters and we decided to stop in for brunch after a little hike. We love the space it was actually bigger than we thought, they have outdoor and indoor seating. Everyone was so helpful directing us, answering our questions and sharing about meal items and baked goods. The food was beat described as your favorite mom and pop spot with all scratch made foods, everything was a hearty portion and delicious. We had a double stack of huge pancakes, nothing special here but still good, a delicious egg scramble with fresh avocado, bacon, jack cheese, eggs, potatoes and toast 10/10. Stopped here with friends after a hike back in April and overall had a decent experience. The location right in downtown Winters is super cute with an eclectic vibe, and it's definitely a popular breakfast spot. We had about a 10-15 minute wait, which honestly wasn't bad considering how busy they were. The menu had a lot of great-looking options. Two friends ordered the chicken fried steak, another ordered a veggie/Mediterranean-style omelet, and I had the carnitas huevos rancheros since I'm gluten-free. Portions were generous and the food was good, though not necessarily something I'd rave about. The biggest issue during our visit was the service. Drinks and ordering started off fine, but when the food came out only two of the four meals arrived. My friend and I ended up waiting quite a while longer and had to flag someone down to check on our meals. We were told the ticket must have gotten mixed up and our food would be out shortly. By the time our dishes arrived, our other friends were basically done eating. One side order was also forgotten. To their credit, they did remove that item and gave us 50% off the delayed dishes, which we appreciated. I completely understand that busy restaurants can get hectic, but better communication and table follow-up would have made a huge difference. Can I just say... come hungry! The food is so good and the portions are huge! Almost too big if you're not a big eater. ( good thing we are lol ) . It is almost always very busy but so worth the wait. Our server was super sweet and attentive. The desserts looked amazing we didn't try them because we were too full. The location is phenomenal. It's right in the heart of downtown Winters right on the Main Street. The whole town is so picturesque and unique. It's across from other restaurants and shops. It is also adjacent to a park. There is plenty of free street parking nearby so you shouldn't have an issue finding a spot. The service was amazing. Our server came by multiple times to ensure we were satisfied. Being our first time here, we got what she recommended. And she was right! There are no bad items on the menu. Our food came out relatively quickly even though we were in a larger group. The burger was absolutely massive. It had to have been at least 2 lbs. The taste was packed with flavor and so juicy. I could taste every ingredient in the burger. Words cannot adequately describe how excellent this burger was. The French dip was also very solid. The sauce was so good that I literally drank it. It paired well with the fries. The cookie was a bit on the harder side but still pretty tasty, maybe would have been better warmed up. The prices are about average for 2026. I'd say expect to walk out of here for about $40 for a meal for two. But the service and flavor more than make up for the price tag. Maybe I was just mega hungry after a nearby hike but this was literally one of the most memorable meals I have had in a while. Even writing this months later, I can remember every detail. Yes, yes, and yes. We went for a work dinner and we were all pleasantly surprised by the food. Not one person at our table finished their entrée because it was just so much food. There was a lot of food, but it was also reasonably priced. Everything we had was seasoned and cooked perfectly. The table started off with the brussels sprouts, the bread with the olive oil dip, the shrimp, appetizer and the spinach artichoke dip. Everyone tore into the appetizers. There was 16 of us and not one person had a single complaint. Everyone loved everything about every appetizer. When our food came, we were so full from the appetizers that none of us could finish our food. I got the patty melt, almost everyone in our party got the burger and one person got the chicken salad. None of us could finish anything. Every person at the table said that their food was so good. They wish they could finish their food. One person who actually lived in. Vacaville said that they would definitely be bringing their family back for breakfast or lunch. Our waitress was phenomenal. She was so engaging and kept us laughing the entire time. The restaurant was clean, the bathrooms were clean and every single person working there was smiling and they actually seemed like they were happy to be there with us. I did manage to eat half of my patty melt and it was really good, I got it with the sweet potato fries and blue cheese dressing to dip my fries in. I washed it all down with a Cadillac margarita. This cafe was featured on Diners, DriveIns, and Dives about 15 years ago. They have limited open times but if you have a chance to eat here, do it! The staff greeted us during a busy lunch rush on a Wednesday. The place was packed. There is outside, inside, and bar counter seating. They also have delicious desserts in a display case up front. The Hostess was a young woman with a long pony tail. She was very customer service oriented and she had a lot of positive energy. We were seated within 2 mins of the lunch rush, at a spacious and comfortable booth near the door of the main dining room. We had a wonderful server named Ashley. She had the most positive attitude and great customer service. Our food: Putah Café Burger as a bowl with no bun, The PCC Pizza (Pepperoni, Ricotta, and drizzled honey), a Coca Cola, and water. The food was prepared well and came out within about 12 mins. We enjoyed our time here. We were too full to have dessert and they have SO MANY CHOICES. We tried every major restaurant place in this small town (7500 population) and Putah Café was the best food. Once again, Putah Creek Cafe delivered the goods! We came in on a Saturday afternoon and it was a little busy due to the Salmon Festival that was occurring across the street. It was a 20-25 minute wait, but we didn't mind. We got to our seats and started off with the Bacon Bloody Mary, which is starting to become a favorite of mine. The fried chicken sandwich was amazing! Crispy on the outside with nice herbs and juicy on the inside. The bread was fresh and the spicy sauce it came with was awesome! She got the biscuits and gravy and enjoyed it, but couldn't finish the potatoes cause she was full. This is one of my favorite spots to have breakfast, but today decided to try their lunch menu. Putah Creek Cafe is a quaint and charming cafe. Spacious and welcoming. Mostly inside dining, though there seemed to be some outside seating but I am unsure because it was packed away. Friendly and welcoming staff. The desserts caught our eye. My wife is a scone person so she got a strawberry cream scone (3/5). We like our scones a bit moist but this had a good flavor. First time visiting Winters, and Putah Creek Cafe made the trip so worth it. The town is beautiful and intimate, it honestly felt like stepping into a scene from a show like Gilmore Girls. We decided to try Putah Creek Cafe because it is close to the opera house. It was a beautiful fall evening and we opted to eat outside. The table was located in what was probably a parking space pre-COVID. The traffic at the nearby intersection was not intrusive. Out waitress was excellent, accommodating my dietary needs and tastes with a nice sense of humor. The Cobb Salad was excellent. Even though it is over 400 miles from our house to Winters California, given the quality of the entertainment at the opera house and the food and service at Putah Creek Cafe, there is a good chance that we will return. read more

I was telling her how much I enjoyed having hot cream with coffee when I was in London, and this is the first place in the United States I've ever been to that could make it the same way. Friday, 3/28/2025 - we decided to check out a little town Winters, CA. We saw a busy restaurant and decided to try them. We went to eat at Putah Creek Cafe. Address is 1 Main St, Winters, CA 95694. Upon arrival: Pros: 1) street parking. We parked at the little park across the street. 2) a hostess seated us outside. There were outside and inside seating. 3) restaurant had dessert you can buy to go or eat there. 4) the hostess and our waitress was professional and friendly. Our waitress smiled a lot when serving all her tables. 5) we got the Davis Farmers Market Sandwich for $17 and sweet potato fries $6.00. All was very good. Sandwich was perfect, bread soft and easy to eat, sweet potato fries were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, and they had skinny fries!! So good. 6) water tasted great. No funky or metal taste. 7) tables, chairs, plates, cups, utensils all clean. 8) bathroom clean. 9) cute restaurant Cons 1) none Conclusion Winters is a cute tiny town. This restaurant was good, staff professional and friendly, foods great, bathroom clean, cute decoration inside, and they had a little bar area (but I could be wrong) I saw people sitting at. The food was delicious- fresh ingredients, with scrumptious food and homemade baked goods. We had the salmon, tortilla soup and Corn Pie (their specialty so I tried it). After dinner we took home some baked goods (apricot bar and another chocolate bar). The service was excellent- always available but not intrusive. The ambiance is a casual cafe. Sub fries for a salad with Italian dressing that was made in house and quite large for a side salad! The desserts and tremendously sized cookies are very worth it!
