This place is pretty close to perfect! We went on a Saturday afternoon and hardly anyone was there. The customer service wasn't all that fast considering we were one of the only people there but the food made up for it. We ordered the combo plate with a tamale, tostada, chile relleno and an enchilada. The caldo de queso and a quesadilla. I know, it was a lot of food for 2 people. But everything was really good. The beans and rice were really good to start off. The quesadilla was huge and had so much cheese. The red sauce on the enchilada was sooo good, it had that warm chile flavor without being spicy. This might be some if the worst Mexican food I have ever had. The grease in the fryer was dirty and you could taste it in the food. The refried beans were from a can. The rice was undercooked. When I asked for a bowl so I could mix water into my salsa (I physically can not have spicy food) the waitress literally laughed. I had to ask 3 times and finally had tell her I wasn't actually trying to make a joke. She then brought me a plate, not a bowl. I had to explain--yet again--that I wanted a bowl. Authentic Mexican food with Great customer service! Prices are reasonable, and the portions are Big!

I have all of these southside Mexican restaurants bookmarked because I am a self-proclaimed Chilaquiles Aficionado. I am on the hunt for the best authentic Mexican breakfast in town and Perfecto's is where we landed this past weekend. Let me start by saying, the place literally right down the block that has great ratings (and more reviews), was nowhere near as good as Perfecto's. This place is located in a strip mall, but it is not hard to find. We landed here at about 9 in the morning and the place was pretty busy. It is small -- I think there were 12-14 - 4 seater tables. It was very clean inside and the two gals that were working were very welcoming and friendly. You get a little bowl of salsa and fresh (yes fresh, unlike the ones we had last weekend at the other place) while you wait to order/for your food. I ordered... you guessed it... Chilaquiles! My Hubs ordered the Huevos Rancheros and a bowl of the red Menudo. My Chilaquiles were great, and I am finding everyone seems to do them differently so I am trying not to be too judgy outside of taste. These had the cheese melted in them (vs. on top) and were really good. I grilled the Hubs on his food because I told him I was "yelping this stuff". He said the Menudo was pretty good (comes with the traditional toasted bread, cilantro and onions) and tasty. He would not go beyond that -- he is Hispanic and I believe he rates all Menudo against that of one of his sisters who makes it with tons of red chile which he loves and compares everyone elses to. That said a "pretty good" is saying a lot. Now, he was not as impressed with the Huevos Rancheros. He described them as not having enough sauce and the tortillas should have been soft and not tostada shells. I did think they looked a little different than what I thought they normally looked like but maybe it is like Chilaquiles and everyone does them a little different? Bottom line, service was super attentive and great... this place is a little neighborhood jewel which is evident by the steady stream of regulars coming in. The food was tasty as well, I would totally return for the Chilaquiles. read more

This place has some damn good Mexican food, but it is not worth the price and they give you some pretty skimpy portions. My friends and I got tortas and pozole. The torta price in store is different from the menu price online, so I ended up paying more than I was expecting. They charge $.75 for a quarter of an avocado, and barely load the torta up with meat. For $9, I didn't get a lot of food. The food was so delicious flavor wise, but I wouldn't come back because of price and portion. I would rather go to Guero Canelo. read more

I decided to bring rice to dinner at a friends and wanted some good rice to go with tacos. I hopped on yelp and found that this restaurant had high ratings and an inexpensive price. I ordered rice over the phone. I purchased two 32 oz containers for approximately 10 people at the encouragement of the girl who helped me. The rice was a hit at dinner. I've been here twice before, the first time for breakfast burritos and the price was such a steal! The second time I went for dinner and for two entrees, an app, and drinks, my tab after a tip was 60 bucks! I definitely had sticker shock, but I can't complain about the food. I had ceviche on a tostada and it was the best I've had in tucson! I also had a chink which was at least a foot big. The only thing lacking in flavor was the complimentary chips, just a bit bland and stale for my preference but the salsa was a hit too. My family and I are from out of town and we came across this restaurant on yelp and decided to give it a try. We were pleased with the food and and the friendly service. Lisa was our server and she was great. She gave us the 411 on things to do while we were visiting from San Antonio Texas. They're menu was limited do to COVID-19. They are best known for their award winning tamales which she allowed us to sample. I also was informed by a local who came in, that the fish soup is awesome.
