I told a friend I wanted a cheap breakfast burrito from one of those little neighborhood places where the building might make you question your life choices but the food makes you forget every one of them. Rancheros understood the assignment. I got the bacon breakfast burrito and this thing was a BEAST -- absolutely stuffed with bacon, eggs, potatoes and cheese, then grilled until the tortilla was perfectly crispy and golden. No sad little mostly-potato burrito here. Every bite had something good in it, and that red salsa on the side brought exactly the right amount of heat. $7.99 for a burrito big enough that I probably should've saved half for later. I did not save half for later. I have no regrets. This is exactly the kind of Tucson place I love finding: unpretentious, reasonably priced, generous portions and damn good food. Love this place.So many items in the store and it's so cute, I didn't have a lot of time but I'll be back for sure! Okay -- I WILL BE GOING BACK FOR ALL MY CARNE NEEDS! From the moment we walked in, the staff greeted us with so much warmth and friendliness. You can instantly tell they take pride in what they do. We chatted with Gerardo (I think one of the main butchers), and he was incredible -- asking what I wanted, what I needed, and how he could help. I tested him a little by asking for carne asada meat not marinated -- and without missing a beat, he knew exactly what I meant (only diesmillo works for true carne asada!). And here's the part that completely sold me: they grill the meat for you for FREE! I've never seen this in my life. We bought the meat, they grilled it, and we walked out with it ready to eat. They have all your favorite Mexican snacks and drinks plus the best meat selections in town. I love that they will cook the meat there for you as well if you want them, too. The meals are very fairly priced and are in large portions. My kids loved their carne asada taco dinner kit because they could build their tacos just how they wanted to. They will also give you samples of anything you want, and I tried about 8 different things there all of which were the bomb! This is the type of local spot I love supporting. I just happen to drive by this place and knew i had to turn around and try it. As soon as i walked in i was greeted with happiness. It is my first time here so i went with the basics Quesburria tacos and Carne asada tacos. as i waited for my food the offered samples of the pozole which was AMAZING!! So we saw this place on Facebook looked very good. Thought we would give it a try. this is basically a meat market with a variety of beef and also have chicken and pork that they can either give to you Ronna or cook it up for you and you can take it home and eat it. They have a small menu and we try the carna Asada tacos for two. The steak was very flavorful, comes with cabbage, pico de Gallo and you can get small sides of rice and beans for an extra cost. They only carry Mexican drinks. They don't have a soda fountain with American drinks. It is also a store where you can get tortillas, candy pork, rinds, salsa, and any other Mexican items you can think of. I didn't want to be that guy but after my 2nd visit, I have to. First I'll start with this place that offers online service for food pick up and takes your money but it seems not to have anything on their end. I had to wait the time it told me for them to prep my food to get there only to have to wait because they never even got my order. Let me remind you they took my money already. The order came out, as I should've expected, the food was mediocre at best. Second visit I couldn't help but feel that I was discriminated against from the moment I walked in. The only one to greet me was the cashier woman who has always been great. But the men behind the butcher counter, the worst. Instead of helping me as I was waiting behind the glass counter, second in line, and patient. I came up as it's my turn, one man had his back turned towards me and never acknowledged me as the other looked at me, said nothing but instead went to help his buddy dump the oil out of some big pot. The woman behind the counter looked at me and noticed my frustration and was just about to walk toward me or to alert them as if they didn't see me. By then I said no thank you and walked out. There hasn't been a place I've visited in Tucson quite like this market. You walk in and immediately you're greeted as if you are family coming home from a tough day. You walk through what I best describe as your local corner store and you're taken back to being a kid walking around the bakery where you want a little bit of everything and that's what you should do here. There's not one 9/10 item on the menu and you will be blown away every single time you come in for a bite. The Carnitas 10/10 it felt like I was back home at a family party. The chicharron burrito 10/10 I don't know how to even describe the smell and the texture and the taste. Me and my kids came here this morning for the first time and we loved it! We got birria tacos, a steak burrito and bacon breakfast burrito to eat there and it was all so good. I have been here about 6 times at least. In the beginning it was amazing good quality food that was hot and not old the crumble cheese tasted fresh and the carnitas were fresh and hot. The last 3 times I have went it just keeps getting worse they are going downhill. I have ordered carnitas the past two times on different days different times and the first time it was dry and cold the second time I ordered which was today the meat was fresh but it was cold if you are charging 10.99 per pound of carnitas you can at least make sure it is hot when you customer receives it. I also ordered crumble cheese this time which tasted old which is disappointing because last time it was fresh and creamy. The product was amazing in the beginning when they first opened but since then they stopped caring about what they serve. I have found mold on their packaged rice as well which is also disappointing because their packaged rice is good when brought to their attention they did take the item and discard it which is good. Overall this place can be a hit or miss and recently it has been a miss please go back to actually caring about your products and what you sell. read more
