I sent my oldest here part time with Miss Sara and Miss Kim. I think they were both wonderful and my daughter looked forward to attending every day. Directors were kind and it's also meaningful that they have staff that has been there a long time. I would have to say aside from the learning and socializing part, there were a couple things I would want to share as a parent and some improvements I'd like to see if I were to ever send my child back. I took my daughter out because she was constantly getting sick ( which I know some Illness is expected with school but this was too often in my opinion) and because my youngest daughter (2) was returned to me with a dirty soiled diaper and rash on her " practice day" which I did not appreciate. I also did not feel comfortable with what looked like laid back security policies I witnessed which I'll detail below. Too many times I arrived in the morning with nobody at the front reception desk- as a parent dropping my most precious cargo off somewhere ....I most definitely want and expect someone to be at the desk ..not even greeting me ! ...mainly Just for security purposes to see who's coming and going, etc. This is a preschool. Anyone can get the code to enter if they wanted to so this was one thing that made me uncomfortable. Some other times I arrived early and waited a few minutes in the parking lot until it was my kids designated pick up time ..I saw the front entrance left open for the mail man or delivery truck....and when I entered through these open doors, nobody was at front desk either. So any stranger could have walked in while the door was propped open. As a parent, I really did not care for this at all, and my " comfortability" with this facility began to decrease. I want tight security knowing my kid is safe and doors arent left open for anyone and if so, staff is on top of it with eyeballs. Rather be safe than sorry. Again, nothing against staff whatsoever because everyone was kind but just my opinion from a parent perspective in regards to the issues I mentioned above. I am/was bummed out to remove my daughters because they seemed to like it. ! Parents of infants 6 months and younger -- please read before enrolling When I toured this facility, I informed the director, Marcela, that my son would begin attending at 3 months old. During the tour, I was told that rooms were cleaned nightly, babies were changed every two hours, and that the center maintained high standards of care. Unfortunately, my experience after enrollment did not align with those expectations. Health & Hygiene Concerns My son became ill with the flu within three days of starting and continued to experience recurring illnesses during the two months he attended. He frequently came home with dried milk on his head, ears, and neck, indicating that he was not being cleaned after feedings. This contributed to a rash, chest irritation, and eventually an ear infection that required antibiotics. Although I provided healing ointment, it was not consistently applied. Infant Care Issues A bottle feeding was missed. His face and neck were not cleaned after feedings. One day, he had multiple scratches on his nose. Staff stated they were caused by a toy falling on him, but the pattern and number of scratches did not appear consistent with that explanation. When I raised concerns, the responses I received did not acknowledge the issues I observed. Professionalism After enrollment, the director's communication style became noticeably less supportive. I was told that my son required more attention than other infants, despite him being 3-4 months old while many of the other children were older and more independent. I also witnessed another parent expressing frustration with the director during the enrollment process, which in hindsight was an early warning sign. Outcome My son attended this center for two months before I was able to move him to another facility, where he is now doing well. I want to share my experience so that other parents -- particularly those with very young infants -- can make informed decisions. My LO has been attending this facility since she was 6 months old and she has grown leaps and bounds while there. The new leadership under Maricela and Yaya have been great. They are responsive to communication and requests regarding my LO especially since she has food allergies. The teachers in the class are very receptive to the children's needs and I see a bond between them and my LO. She gets excited to get out of the car when she sees we are parked in front of the facility. I love seeing photo updates of my LO on their app and I trust that she is learning while being looked after so I can concentrate on work. We have been sending our daughter to this daycare since she was 4 months old. We have always experienced professional and caring teachers. Now at 17 months our daughter loves her fun activities & outside time that she gets in the toddler room. The teachers are always very responsive to our questions and concerns. I'll call this one a "mixed" review. There are some great people working for this center, namely Marcela at the front office and the entire infant room staff. They're are helpful, friendly, and seem to legitimately care about the kids. However, Center Director Kendra Dedmon is not those things. She is the type of person who should probably not be working around children, let alone be in charge of the whole place. She lacks empathy and understanding, she is rude and confrontational. I saw her get into heated arguments with parents on multiple occasions, one of which drove the parent to tears. Any concern you bring up will be taken by Kendra as a personal offense to her and will probably not be addressed. We had a situation at the Center where my 10 month old babies were pulling other children's hair. Understandably, this is a problem, but it seems like there was no real plan to try to fix the problem. I was always told there's pretty much nothing they can do about it, which is weird because you'd think they would be able to handle a couple of 10 month old babies. Because of this situation, I straight up asked if this is something the babies could get kicked out for. I was told it was NOT; I was not told "maybe" or "we'll see how it goes", I was told a very certain "No, infants do not get kicked out for hair pulling." Less than a month later, I get a call from Kendra saying they were getting kicked out for hair pulling. When I brought up the fact that I was told it wouldn't happen (which means I didn't look for any alternate for of child care), Kendra just stuck to her guns and didn't admit any wrongdoing on their part. She never admitted that I was misled when I was told it wouldn't happen, she never admitted their apparent inability to handle the problem, and she never showed any kind of empathy. I had a meeting with Kendra and we reached a verbal agreement on how to proceed. The following week, she gave us a written document stating how they were going to proceed, and it was nothing like the verbal agreement we reached. She either willfully misled us or changed her mind after our meeting and didn't mention it to me. There are clear staffing issues as well. Once I brought my kids at around 10:30 rather than their usual 8:30 because they had a doctor's appointment. I was told I would not be allowed to drop them off because they didn't have a teacher for them, and essentially blamed us for bringing them in late. I asked what happened to the teacher they had at 8:30? Were they sent home or reassigned to another classroom? I never received an answer. There are other clear indicators of either staff shortages or basically working with minimal staff all the time. When I brought these issues up with Kendra she cut me off and emphatically stated they were no staff shortages. In fact, she seemed personally offended at the allegation. I could go on, but this review is already long enough. If someone like Marcela or any of the other staffers were in charge rather than Kendra, this would be a 5 star review, regardless of my babies getting booted from the place. I did submit a complaint to Kendra's superior, Sandra. Sandra was extremely helpful and seemed to understand where I was coming from with my concerns. It was also suggested that I was not the first person to express concerns about her actions. It's amazing that with all these great people around, there isn't a better Center Director. You could literally point to anyone in the Center and they'd be a better director than Kendra, so the fact that she's still there is baffling. read more

There is not much space for kids to play! They give 4babies per acare taker which I think could be a lot...also the kitchen didn't look that clean! Since I had a such a great experience with my first child, KinderCare Rancho was my first and obvious choice. Unfortunately, the leadership has changed, and the atmosphere is no longer collaborative or empathic to children's needs. My son has behavioral issues and has been in various therapy (OT, PT, speech, etc.) since a baby. I immediately tried engaging KinderCare in being a partner in his therapy; however, they first told me the therapist was not allowed on the premises (due to COVID), even though the teachers were no longer wearing masks at that point and COVID rules were no longer in effect. I began seeking the help of a behavior therapist almost right away to deal with my son's behaviors and tried to engage KinderCare in assisting with that as well, especially since I had seen improvement in his behavior at home, but it didn't seem to make a difference at school. (Although note that he was not the only child with behaviors; sometimes I see a stack of incident reports when I pick him up). Another complicating factor is that this child who had never been in a group care setting was graduated to pre-K at 3 years old, which he probably was too developmentally behind to adapt quickly to. The leadership ignored the emails and phone calls of the behavior therapist for a couple of months before I finally received an OK from the director that the therapist could come into my son's classroom to observe his behavior and give feedback on strategies to address issues. No less than the day after this observation finally occurred, and on my son's birthday, I was told that an incident occurred and was basically threatened that if it continued, he would be sent home from school early and not allowed to return for the next school day. If that continued, the director said, he would be disenrolled unless I provided a one-on-one aid to attend school with him. Based on her observations, the behavior therapist developed a plan for my son with recommendations for his teachers. The plan with the recommendations was reviewed, discussed and signed by the director, therapist and myself. The therapist emphasized that behaviors could possibly get worse before they would get better, and that it would take time to implement and see results. I checked a couple of school days later and the teachers still had not been informed of the recommendations yet. The next day, another incident occurred (a month after our initial conversation) and a few school days after our meeting with the therapist. My son had to go home and could not return the next day, as discussed. When I talked to the director, she said she was involving corporate and that a behavior plan had to be established. This is odd, since the behavior therapist had JUST written a plan that the center was not even reading or following. The therapist returned the following week to see how things were going with the teachers; they informed her that the recommendations had still not been shared with them. Another incident occurred the next day and again, he was sent home early, told he had to stay home the next day, and that if it happened again, he could not come back without a one-on-one aid. I asked the director for the "behavior plan" and the rules/regulations regarding the process and the requirement for the aid. I was given a copy of the generic behavior policy from the paperwork everyone gets when they enroll. It does not specify any procedures for these issues or detail the aide requirements. In addition, I was given the director's "plan" which was a copy/paste plagiarism of the behavior therapists plan (which still has not been implemented). So now I'm scrambling to find a new childcare center for my son - one that will work with me to address his needs. I want to emphasize that the teachers themselves have been empathetic, helpful, cooperative, even sometimes proactive in reaching out to help problem solve - it's just the leadership that has not. read more

My daughter attended Kindercare from the age of 2 and just started Kindergarten this year. I was super nervous send her since she was preemie and to top it off she broke her leg 3 days before starting. Assistant Director at the time who is now site Director Kendra and 2 year old Teacher Monica who is also now Site director welcomed my daughter open with open arms. They went out and purchase a stroller since she had a cast covering her full leg. They also assisted with potty training. Her 3 year and 4 year old teacher Ms Rebecca was great. The children also learned Spanish and had the opportunity for phonic enrichment. I felt very comfortable fast leaving me daughter. I knew she was staff and in good hands. i rerely write reviews but after having a very terrible expierence at another day care which resulted in a bad incident i COULDNT BE MORE THANKFUL for kinder care rancho san diego. Kendra and Marcela are very welcoming. It really is more then just day care to me and my kids at this point almost feels like FAMILY. My 3 year old has made a super special connection with Ms. Anahi and its a blessing that she always looks forward to seeing her teacher. My youngest whos in the toddler class also has made special connections with the teachers and she is always very happy when dropping her off. I would not recommend this place for any child and definitely not for any child with a disability. I was first warned at my son's physical by a mom who worked at Kaiser. She told me that it lacked professionalism and care in the 2 year old class. I took a chance anyways and regret it. I ignored all the red flags about this place. Here are some red flags I ignored. * Teacher never built a rapport with my child. * Felt like I needed to pick my child up as soon as possible because the staff didn't have his best interest. Example, they had him lay on cot without his blanket or padding multiple times when I picked him up at noon. * The Director is defensive and fixated on problem saturated narratives. Example, when asked about the treatment plan for delayed speech individuals or explore a treatment plan she would fixate on how he's not performing like other children. * My son was overlooked many times due to his speech delay. Example, he did not have a personalized folder for his art work like the other children after being in the class for 5months. My son was overlooked in pictures. I often got pictures with him not in it or videos of other kids. * I observed the teacher yell and pull things out of other children's hands. * Teacher had poor emotional regulation skills and can't be bothered with any child that inconveniences her. * Staff lacks empathy and experience Overall my experience at this place was horrible. read more

My daughter has been attending this school since she was 4 months old, she is now 7. Our second daughter who is 2 years old attends here too. There are not enough words to describe the love and care our children receive every single day! All their teacher are so invested in their well being and growth we love it!! As working parents peace of mind is priceless and when our daughter go to school we know they will not only be safe and healthy but but learn and grow. They love their teachers Ms. Monica, Ms. Shar and Ms. Maria they talk about them at home all the time. I highly recommend this center. read more

I owe potty training to Kindercare! My little girl was slowly getting it, but after she came to kindercare, she was given that extra push. Toddler sinks amd toilets with other children who were potty traning. After 2 weeks, they told me she aas ready for panties!!! Mrs. Lindsay is an amazing teacher. I keep in contact with her and she keeps in contact with me. It isnt jusy a daycare, it is a child development center....and I couldnt have asked for a better one! :) read more

My daughter truly enjoys this school. She had been there since she was 6 months old, she's almost 3 now. Something I'm appreciative of is they allow my daughter to be herself. There's probably no more important criterion than whether you'd trust someone with your child. These folks pass that test easily -- and few do, including family! Before our child was born we investigated every credentialed day care center within 10 miles of our home. KC Rancho SD was our top pick. The staff don't simply "take care of" children, they are professionally trained and managed, undergo thorough background investigation, and administer an expert curriculum in childhood education to every age group they serve. We've found the infant care staff particularly skilled, conscientious and communicative in every regard, including child safety, health, nutrition, development, education and psychology. We have never once worried about our daughter's well being while in these folks' care, and every staff member -- from the teachers to the center director herself -- shows genuine and personalized interest in our family. (We have not consulted anyone at KC Rancho SD about the contents of this review. We know how important it is to find the best daytime care for your child. WORSE preschool EVER , my son was beaten , bullied & horrified by other kid, who had a damaged childhood and mrs. Debbie did not do anything. I had to move my son to other preschool. my son is 11 years old and still has tears in his eyes when he remembers that awful preschool. guys, watch out for your kids in that school. I am a very active foster parent in the East County. I have had multiple children in the past year attend this KinderCare. I have had children in almost every classroom including infant, toddler, and preschool age. I also have sat in the classrooms for over an hour at a time to attend to therapies for many of my kiddos. I say this so you can understand that I have taken many hours to sit in with the kids and staff not just pick up and drop off. The staff is extremely attentive and active in all the classes. They support the therapies and individual needs of each one of the kids in their care. I have more art work and pictures then I did with my own bio children (who went to an in home daycare). The teachers are child always child focused. I also have to say, I am above appreciative of the patience and flexibility the administrative staff have been with me. As a foster parent I have kids come and go sometimes in a matter of days. The administrative staff ALWAYS are willing to go above and beyond to help with paperwork and updates for any of my kids. They also have an app that tells you updates in real time of photos, diaper changes, activities, and even supply requests. I highly suggest taking a tour! read more

My sons have been going to this facility since they were 8 weeks old. We have been so grateful to all the teachers and administrators from the beginning. We've never had to worry about leaving my sons in their care. We love that they strive to make sure the kids have well balanced meals and that they are meeting their age related mile stones, as much as possible. I love the social environment the kids get to experience and that the teachers make sure the kids are playing and interacting well with their peers. We also enjoy the extra activities like the winter gala, mother's and father's days activities, etc. This facility is just so wonderful and we're sad that in August we will have to say goodbye because our youngest will be off to kindergarten. However, with experiences and education he received in the 5 years with Rancho San Diego Kindercare we know he'll do so well in elementary school. read more

Rancho San Diego KinderCare is a great childcare center. Great atmosphere and great teachers. The teachers here take their time and work with the children to make sure they are successful in their preschool years.
