When I called there to check on her well-being, they hung up on me. I also heard the other girl say, "tell them to get that post taken down," which is posted on social media. Kudos! Molly at Rancho Tak Feed & Supply is marvelous. My dog Lili is now 13. She stopped eating. Even cheese, her favorite special treat. Given other choices of things to eat, she refused. It looked like I was going to face the reality of the end-of-life scenario. Molly sorted us out. We got some good food, and some over-the-counter products that she felt were a good fit. (She's not a veterinarian) And now, Lili is walking around like she's 7 and her appetite is back. I'm so glad that we found a way for it not to be her time to go. I have always wanted a horse, but I know I could not properly take care of one.. land, time, attention, food, vet, and such. I come here to spend time with them. This is one of the the best places I have randomly come across.. I was passing by and saw that they had pets and live animals such as goats horses and baby chix. When I walked in I never expected to have such a great experience and be able to Feed the animals! The lady in the front informed me I could buy a bag of animal snacks and feed goats!! This was the highlight of my day as I LOVVEE ANIMALS! This is such a nice place to bring your children or any Animal Lover! Although I wish I could have taken a goat home.. The good reviews don't compare with the HORRIBLE ones here... and the "good" reviews mainly focus on the selection and variety of inventory . What REALLY matters are the accurate accounts regarding the horrible conditions in which animals are kept. And MY personal experience with this establishment is heartbreaking. We bought 4 chickens: 2 adult hens and 2 young ones for Pets. 2 days later one of the smaller hens was dead. We lost one of the hens 3 weeks after purchasing but only after watching her go thru agonizing symptoms and finally death in my arms after 3 days since symptoms started. I believe in both cases the cause was due to negligence in the store's management/ lack of care/ horrendous housing, etc. It is not surprising (now) that they have a SALES FINAL on all their animals and the fact that symptoms will not always show up one day, but will indeed show within a short time which is the case here. The No Return/exchanges, etc. under ANY circumstances speaks volumes about the importance of money over customer service for the $$ greedy owners. We all know of PUPPY MILLS but this place is operating a CHICKEN MILL, ie: sick animals, disgusting environment, lack of health care or remedies for the sick ones. No preventive measures taken either! The blatant disregard and/ or reverence for life is what is truly disturbs me as well. The way people treat animals is a valid portrayal of the "content of their character" as humans. This is true of ALL the animals, not just the chickens here. read more

I was finally able to speak with someone today. Unfortunately according to the lady I spoke with, there is no guarantee on anything they sell. When I told her that 1 of the 2 chickens died less than 2 hours of purchase, she said maybe there was no water available to the chicken and there's no guarantee what they sell is free from sickness. This place is a horror house for animals. In the back behind the main building, they have rabbits stashed in small cages piled up on each other, up to what seemed like 10 cats + a mama cat still nursing kittens in the heat with no litter box, food, or water in site while it's 97 out. Indoors was no better when they had unvaccinated puppies out on the floor in a small cage with no food & little water. Up to five cats were in a small rabbit cage with no room to stretch & having to pile on each other. These people have no desire to care for their animals, & I'm surprised they haven't been shut down due to the amount of animal neglect I've witnessed. read more

I was discriminated against today because the "manager, owner, corporate, everything" (her words) has an item ringing up at an incorrect price and wanted to charge me $40 more than what it was ringing up at. It is not a customer's fault that all attempts at getting the price at where you want fail. Two separate people tried to scan the item and still the price was less. She took one look at me and immediately tried changing the price with no words. It wasn't until I asked her if she as a number to corporate I can contact because changing the price drastically in front of me after it is ringing up at a specific price. She rudely said "you can go buy your dog food somewhere else." All because her prices were incorrect and I asked for a corporate number because what she was doing was illegal. I will have to take this matter to a higher power because I KNOW the laws in California. They will be hearing from my lawyer. read more

The most wonderful place ever. They have everything you could possibly need for taking care of any animal. We have three bearded dragons, a Betta fish, chickens and two dogs. I've waited (as I usually do) to do a review to make sure maybe I wasn't just having a bad day or too good of a day before I opine on my shopping experience. I've been in this feed store at least once a week for the last two months. I can tell you that I am always looking and asking questions- if something doesn't make sense or you're just curious- it doesn't hurt to ask. I met the owner this way- I didn't even know she was the owner until about 3 visits ago. She was honest, helpful, kind and very involved. She recommended a great high end food (Canidae) and our dog is doing absolutely AMAZING on it!! I also buy my cat food here. I decided I wanted some chickens and a chicken coop and feed. I can tell you the Peanut & Shadow (our new little nosy hens) are doing so well and I LOVE the chicken coop! I got it for Mother's Day- it made it even more special! :) The chickens are healthy, happy and sweet and I love the amazing coop! I believe in supporting our small local companies and getting to know the crew and owners- they are full of knowledge and are very kind. Be patient and respectful- it pays off. You'll soon find that MOST of our local companies are struggling to make it and they do it out of LOVE for their craft. It's also great going into a store and someone remembering your name and saying a simple "Good Morning." It makes a huge difference in how people treat you as a person and a customer. read more

The staff is mostly kind but one woman sold me two of the wrong item so I returned them (receipts state 30 day return besides feed) my items were two medications, she told me one was for mites (it was not, it was rabbit respiratory medicine?) and she said penicillin was safe for rats (it is not) so after I returned both I returned the next day for amoxicillin and as she rang me up for it she rudely said "I'm not returning this one" even tho the receipts state I can? I did nothing wrong and she had a terrible attitude with me. Left stars for the gentlemen who helped me and was so kind processing my return. read more

I think it was the owner who helped my wife and boxed up the chickens for the ride home. 4 where dead when she got home. I call the store and the owner said " to bad so sad" no replacements. Got 6 chickens. 3 of them had a noticeable sneeze like symptom, figured it was because of the environment they were in and it would go away. finally had to get some respiratory medicine. Two months later they still have it. One of them just died a few days ago (the Americana I bought for $25), and another one has been extremely weak, you can hear her wheezing. I've been getting my dog food here for several years. They have some of the best brands available such as nutrisource.

They sold a person's lost pet duck that a lady had found and brought in because the shelters were closed. They did not attempt to find the owner and sold it the same day they received it. They may have knowledge of feed and have been a good store but unless they try and make amends and do their due diligence in finding an animals owner when lost, They will never have my business and I hope no other animals they have sold were aquired similarly because it is illegal. If they ever make appropriate amends this review may change. read more
