Very good. After reading the Yelp reviews, I knew we had to try this place. It was definitely authentic Mexican food. Everything was fresh and the portion sizes were enough that you could share a plate. I ended up taking half of dish back to the hotel for supper that night. Very clean place. The food was great, menu says everything is made from scratch! Service was great, our waiter was very attentive and kept the drinks filled. I had the 10" burrito plate with chicken, and smothered in cheese sauce, it was great! Wife had chicken quesadilla , recommend spending the extra dollar for the grilled chicken. The atmosphere is small and quaint, mom and pop type of place. Fried ice cream for dessert was amazing!Definitely will come back next time we visit Cherokee. read more

Best AUTHENTIC Mexican food in town. Definitely satisfied my snobby NYC taste buds. I am currently here for business and decent ethnic restaurants are 30-50 miles away from Cherokee. Stumbled on this place through Tripadvisor. We were warmly greeted by our waiter who quickly brought us water and salsa and chips. My roommates and I headed here after searching way too long on the web for somewhere good to eat around Cherokee that wasn't a buffet or tourist trap. This is a difficult feat, but everything we read about this place was positive, so we headed on over. Don't be fooled when you pull into the food lion parking lot and see the small, humble entryway, it's really quite big inside. We got to our table and were quickly served homemade tortilla chips and salsa. The salsa was so good, and they gave you a big carafe of it that lasted through the whole meal. The menu is huge, which initially made it a little difficult to choose what we wanted. I settled on steak rancheros, which was served with tortillas, lettuce, tomato, guac, rice, and beans. Also, we got chicken fajitas, served up sizzling with lots of veggies and another chicken dish that was quite tasty. The servings are huge, so expect to either feel horribly full or take some home to go. I ended up getting a slice of flan to go, which was sweet and creamy. I love flan, and this was one of the best I've had. Overall a really pleasant experience for a very reasonable price. We will be sure to return here frequently while living here in Cherokee! read more

I read the other reviews and I couldn't believe it after I ate at this place this past weekend. Don't get me wrong the food was pretty good it is the customer service and the price for the food that was unreasonable. It was me, my son(12) and daughter(5). My son and daughter shared a drink. My son and I shared fajitas, my daughter ate french fries. Our bill was $29 before the tip. Now come on. Really? The fajitas came with 2 tortillas and when I asked for more they charged me .99 cents for 2 more fajitas. I was in a state of freaking shock. I'm not a cheap person by any means. My kids and I share all the time or food will be wasted and I'm a former bartender and waitress, so I'm not trying to get over. It took 15min to place an appetizer order (cheese dip that was runny). And 10 min to get two more tortillas that cost me $1. I mean really. So seriously....wait for authentic mexican when you get back home. Don't bother here. read more

When you pull up you might not want to go in...but once in the door it looks authentic and tastes the same. Everything we had (loaded burrito and fajitas) was great. Service was fantastic and extremely quick. We were so glad we did not go fast food or something else corporate which would have cost more and not provided as much, as portion sizes were very generous, and with free chips and dip and several hot sauces, we could not have asked for more. read more

Service was excellent, staff was so nice. The food had great flavor. Salsa was excellent, I had the taco, burrito, and enchilada, for $7.99. Lunch menu had many meals at $5.99, not offered on Sunday, but had plenty of choices for a couple bucks more. Seen a lot of locals going in and decided we should stop in. Happy we decided to do so. We've come to this place twice, the first time the food was the best we've had in a long, long time. The salsa was soooo good (they make it themselves, they make ther guacamole, too). So good we got a to-go order of chips and salsa to enjoy later. I knocked off a star because the 2nd time we came, which was near closing time, the food wasn't so good. I ordered the exact same thing I did before (pork burritos) but this time the meat was really dry. My wife's wasn't that good, either and our kids were like "this is the place you kept telling us about???" So if you go make sure you go well before closing time and you will have a great meal. read more
