Let me start off by saying I work in the Sales and service industry so know how cut throat it is out there. In my mind, there are the professionals which is how I classify most of the roofing companies out there but then there are the elites. Ed and his crew are the Elites. Let me help break that down since our first interaction. I call around to try to get my roof evaluated for damage and estimates to replace it. First question I recieved from most contractors was "is this a hail claim through insurance ?" I told them maybe. Ed response was sure thing I can come by and give you a quote. It felt he was focused on helping me rather than seeing the dollar bills. I used Ed to help me meet with the insurance adjuster to get the roof approved. They discussed the siding but both the adjuster and Ed felt they can revisit as they didnt see much concern (i.e he built trust with the adjuster) At that point I had cash value that insurance would give me to replace that roof so I shopped around even though Ed helped me get it approved to find the best price I can get. Not once did Ed asked me how much did you get or demanded I go with him. He said "that's what I would have done". He just gave me the price he would charge to take care if it. Other contractors kept telling me that they will work directly with my insurance or asking me to share the amount approved and they will figure out what they can offer. They also started selling me that they can cover my siding as well. Ed's quote was in line with others but his 10 year warranty and transparency was deciding factor for me so we decided to move forward with Roof. All went smooth getting the roof done and while working on it they saw some additional siding damage that was not previewed before. Ed contacted the adjuster to come back with the new evidence he had and after some back and forth we were able to get the siding approved as well !! I was delighted. Ed is responsive, goes above and beyond to take care of issues ( I had rodent issues) but most importantly in this day and age of where everyone is trying to make a quick buck than think long term relationships, he is transparent and trust worthy. I lucked out finding Randall and Son Roofing and Exteriors. I had a major hail storm come through my neighborhood which damaged my roof and gutters. My longtime (35+ years) neighbor, Bob, a recently retired concrete contractor, had his good friend Ed from Randall and Son come out to check his roof. I asked Ed to also take a look at mine and sure enough, it was damaged. Ed is the Son in Randall and Son. I had a couple of other roofing contractors come out for an inspection and quote, but Randall and Son had a combination of best price and the recommendation of my neighbor, which is good as gold, so I went with them. I loved working with Ed. He's knowledgeable and very personable with a great sense of humor. He was always available to answer any questions. He even met with the claims adjuster and went over every inch of my house with him looking for any damage from the storm. Ed also has a good eye for style and color which came in handy, because I couldn't pick out a shade of white if my life depended on it. I went with his recommendation for shingle color after I pulled out the last remaining hair on my head trying to decide for myself and my house looks GREAT! Thank you, Ed! When it came time to install the roof, the Randall and Son crew was on time and did a great job and cleaned up the job site when they were done. I have no complaints. They even repaired a faux chimney that was damaged in the storm, in part, because years ago it was never built properly. It's now solid and will outlast me. The gutters were installed on a different day, by a different crew, which also arrived on time and were very professional. I was so happy with Randall and Son that I'm also having them replace a couple of storm doors on my house this coming Spring. Ed Zawadski is by far the most professional and responsive roofing contractor I have encountered. I had a small roof leak in a second floor bedroom which I felt was the result of an Aug 1, 2018 storm. Many homes in my neighborhood got completely new roofs and (aluminum) siding as a result of this storm. I first worked with a different roofer to submit a claim to my insurance company for a new roof. My insurer denied the claim, but paid for some repairs to garage door, gutters, etc. That other roofer (not Randall and Son) did not return phone calls, showed up late for meetings, and, I felt, did not give me good advice about the condition of my roof. After researching Yelp reviews, I came upon Ed at Randall and Sons. He was immediately responsive to my phone calls, showed up when he said he would, looked at my roof and interior leak, advised that my roof condition was probably not something insurance would cover, that most insurance companies would consider it wear and tear (correct assessment). He recommended just caulking around the roof vent that he felt was the cause of the leak, along with high driving winds, and to consider a new roof next spring. When I asked him if we absolutely had to replace the roof, he basically said to monitor for leaks over the winter and decide next year. He also came out and fixed the small leak. What a relief to find a roofer who is honest and ethical with no hard sell. When I do replace the roof, Ed at Randall and Sons will be the only company I will use. read more

There are many roofing contractors in the St Charles area. However, we had the opportunity to work with Randall and Son, and we are extremely happy that we chose this particular company. Not only were we able to achieve a competitive price using a quality material, we were also able to solve some of our gutter problems. The difference between Randall and Son and some of the other quotes that we received deals with the fact that Ed use to roof for many years. He has been on the ladders and the roof pitches. He understands the difficulties that may arise, and he installs a new roof as though he were installing the roof on his own home. Called Randall and son to come out and inspect some roof leakage/ cealing water spotage. even before he came out he (ed) had referred me to call the original roofer who did the work saying 'if we had done it , any repairs would be covered' i did only to find out it was a shady fly by night company (Above Grade Construction) that pops up in times of storms and hail. Called Ed back and he was out the next day, I was expecting the worse...'you need this' and 'you need that'...there was none of that , we both we up in my attic to inspect the problem areas Ed was reassuring that things looked pretty good just that a combination of winter storms build up around the vents and condensation from the chimney were the source of the problems. Another area on a lower roof he went up to inspect the shingles and flashing and did a little caulking for me there, problem diagnosed from not so good construction and driving rains...Ed spent well over an hour looking over things and when i asked what was the damage for his time...he shook my hand and said call me when its time to fix and replace things , i was like wow kinda old school who does that anymore. i learned my lesson hiring just anyone, search your local area and see hoe well like they are....i will use Randall and son for my repairs, and would highly refer them to anyone. warren r. read more

David is very professional, friendly and knowledgeable, including the ins and outs of the insurance game. He met with the inspector from my insurance company during the inspection for wind/hail damage. My insurance company agreed to replace the siding and roof vents. From the beginning Ed, from Randall and Son separated himself from the other contractors I had contacted. Ed conveyed to me his vision of what our house could become after decades of neglect. I followed his expert advise and suggestions which proved tp be right on target. Ed guided me through the insurance process which was surprisingly easy and fruitful. Randall and Son's crews are specialized. One crew does the roof. Another the siding, soffit and facia and yet another installed the gutters. Their crews are competent, hard working and friendly with a keen eye for detail. I am an engineer by trade and I have found no flaws in their workmanship. As a bonus, Ed's carpenter installed a custom wood wall on my three season porch which is to die for. Ed made many promises and followed through with every one. My wife and I are so grateful to Ed and Randall and Son for giving us the most beautiful house in the neighborhood and for bringing the entire project in way under budget. We live in Bartlett and were in need of a new roof, gutters and downspouts before we put our house on the market. I called Randall and Son because of their good Yelp reviews and it turned out to be a great call! Ed came out and determined the plywood roof had rotted at the gutter edge all the way around the house and we had a mold issue in the attic due to the lack of ventilation. The vented aluminum soffits our last roofer installed were fake...no openings had been cut in the soffits! Randall and Son replaced the rotted plywood, installed ridge vents, cut holes in the soffits to match the aluminum venting and suggested oversized downspouts to accommodate the amount of runoff from our house. Ed was knowledgable, charged a fair price, and was easy to communicate with by text, phone and email. He bent over backwards to complete the job within our deadline. Even when it poured rain the day they were supposed to start, Ed still came by just to touch base. Wow! He always did what he said he would do when he said he would do it! I called Randall & Son roofing for my house. Ed Zawadzki was personable and not a pushy salesman, he listened to my needs came out and promptly sent me a quote. I felt their price was fair and in line with what I was expecting (other companies were much higher) so I decided to go with them. We just installed a new furnace that was a direct vent so I didn't need the masonry chimney in my house. I coordinated with Ed their start date after I demolished the chimney the weekend before. The material arrived as expected the day before they started the work. They were very fast and efficient, the work started at 7am as I was leaving for work and at 6pm when I got back it was like no one was ever there and there was a new roof on my house. The quality was great, they did everything I asked for (we changed the venting system) and the install is very clean. There isn't a nail or shingle to be found in my yard and I couldn't be happier. I'd like to pay a special thanks to Dave Gedzun of Randall and Sons. A friend of ours recommended Randall and Sons to assess damage to our house from a catastrophic hail storm in May of 2019. Dave came out and did a damage assessment and found the siding and gutters on our house had been damaged from the storm. I filed a claim with our insurance company who in turn sent out an adjuster to assess the damage. The adjuster at the time told both myself and Dave that all the siding would be replaced including the gutters because the age of the aluminum siding (45 years) there wouldn't be a match. The adjuster in his report had significantly downgraded his estimate to where only one side of our garage would have the siding replaced that did not match in color and recommended the new siding be painted. Through Dave's perseverance we were able to secure a second adjuster to assess the damage who is recommending the entire house be resided. About a month ago I called Randall & Son to give me an estimate on a leaking roof. The Owner came out and Inspected the roof then went inside to look at the ceiling where it was leaking. Then went back on the roof and inspected the two chimneys up there. As we stood up there I suspected the chimney flashing and some roof tiles would need replacing. He told me neither needed to be replaced. Just get some caulk and caulk the heck out of it. Now- think about that. When was the last time you needed home repair and someone came out and didn't try to sell you something. That's called honesty and integrity! He even gave me an empty tube of caulk so I would get the right stuff. When he was done I asked him what I owed him? No charge. Can you believe that? This will be my go to company in the future for any roofing need. And I will tell anyone I know who needs roofing done this is the company. I'm a Senior Citizen and it's good to see a company not trying to run up the bill. Makes me have a little more faith in this country. read more

We had an insurance claim from the storms over the summer to replace our roof, siding, and gutters, and got quotes from several places. R&S gave us a quote that was fair and thorough, and took the time to explain it to us step by step, and make sure that our insurance company would cover what we needed. They worked with our insurance to handle all the payments, and patiently answered all of the 100's of questions we had along the way. Ed was our main contact throughout and I can't say enough nice things about him and his whole team. All of the workers were polite and incredibly hard-working, staying late and coming early, and even asking to work on Sunday just to finish the job properly. Our roof and siding were damaged in a very bad storm. Within an hour, we had door-to-door sales people calling. Every day for weeks they were knocking on our door or leaving piles of brochures on our porch. We had a couple of people give us quotes without even looking at our roof; needless to say, we did not feel comfortable hiring any of these firms. Randall and Sons was recommended to us. Ed came out and did a thorough inspection of our house and roof (including physically going up on the roof), taking pictures of damage that no one else even noticed. He was even able to bump my appointment up a week when my schedule changed at the last minute. I shopped around for 3 weeks and received around 6 estimates. I called them out because I had frost building up in my attic. They checked out the attic with me and any frost there had already melted. After evaluating the house for common issues that may have caused it initially, they concluded that it must have been the unusually cold weather. I asked what I could do about it, and they told me that my house was in pretty good shape and that if I really wanted to I could add to the insulation in the attic. Their recommendation however was to do nothing unless it became a more persistent problem. They gave me a rough estimate of what it would cost to do the work. They were very pleasant, answered all my questions and didn't try to sell anything. I was surprised -- I can't speak to the quality of their work since I didn't get any done, but I'll definitely be calling them to give them a shot when something does go wrong. read more

I had moved into my house in June of 2018. The house had the original roof and was in need of a tear off and replacement. My insurance company needed for me to complete this as soon as possible. I had contacted Ed from Randall roofing and he immediately showed up to give my a price. After coming to terms on the price, I mentioned that I needed to get this done ASAP. Although he had an extremely busy schedule, he was able to fit me in. It took only three day's to complete the job. His workers were very respectful and professional. There were several unseen problems such as roof decking that needed replacement. It was performed at a very reasonable price. I can't believe I didn't update this review earlier, but Ed and his team ended up coming out last fall and replacing the main roof of our house as well as a flat roof over an addition. It is an older house and had an older roof, so there was a ton of work to do, but they managed to get it all done in under a day, and even managed to handle a few last minute requests for me (putting in some vents, etc). I was incredibly impressed with the experience from start to finish, from the communication to the clean up (not a single nail to be found in the yard!). They even helped out my neighbor with a loose piece of siding after they finished for the day!
