I love my dentist. This practice has been around for 60+ years serving private insurance covered families, as well as medical/dentical...... and treat both equally in assessment and care and professionalism. Dr.Scott is very conservative and will not let his thorough treatments be dictated by insurance nor the patient. His team explains all treatments recommended before hand simply and confidently so that all are all on the same page: this way the patient can make the best decision and be actively involved in their own care. Unfortunately, IF you've had a negative experience here it's not them, usually it's someone who demands unreasonable and unethical treatment, which Dr Scott would never do. Cant make everyone happy, but that's why there are other office's you can go to patron. read more

Worst front desk admin ever. She has zero customer service skills. This not your first time she has been rude and unprofessional. Months ago when we went in person, she had attitude. Same their accountant. She also needs a reality check that there are many dentist that I can take my business to. This is a general posting regarding Hippa and Privacy; As a new patient please be patient with the requirements we have to follow. Protecting your medical and related information has gotten very strict. Each adult requesting an appointment needs to contact us. Having others to do so in your behalf until you designate on an official Hippa form who may act on your behalf is one of the requirements. Yes, it may seem "insensitive", awkward and cumbersome but these impressions are irrelevant and as soon as we can right from the start needs doing and quite small inconvenience when regarding consequences to any practice not doing their best to follow the rules. We ask for your patience as we carefully navigate these steps. For example, a parent making appointments and managing treatment for adult children/dependents (18 year old or older), each "dependent" must write on an official form the names whom we may speak with regarding treatment recommendations, medical history, insurance identifications, letter to other health professionals, communication with insurance companies and not least their own parents whose insurance often covers these dependents...this is but one example of how strict and awkward these rules are... other careful situations are treatment for children but the non custodial parent is involved, non-married partners who in their best intentions are making appointments and coordinating treatment and medical records and issues. The adult patient to be must write the name of this "partner" before we can freely converse on the behalf of someone else... Thank you for your understanding and please recognize there is more than what's at face value. I am a Veteran who just moved to Fremont. I don't normally write any bad reviews since I know that people have their bad days but when I called on Thursday June 3rd 2021 around 3pm, to ask to be a new patient, the receptionist was extremely rude and impolite. This review is purely for the receptionist and not at all against Dr. Hashimoto. I have heard good things about Dr. Hashimoto from family and friends. I called their office today hoping to make an appointment as a new patient. She kept cutting me off, and when I tried to finish my sentence to actually explain my situation, she said "calm down" and refuse to answer me. She was very short with her answers and had a tone of voice which clearly meant she did not want to speak with me at all! This woman is so unprofessional, I am surprised she has a job there with the way she speaks to patients and future patients. I did nothing to deserve such treatment, I am always super nice with people and feel bad for them but this woman deserves no compassion at all. I have never been seen by Dr. Hashimoto and this review in no way reflects him, however he should really be careful with the people he hires as talking to this disrespectful woman turned me off to this place of business. I was unable to ask for her name but if I knew it, I'd definitely call her out. My call was to be a new patient of Dr Hashimoto, if somehow, someone do call me back and I start being seen as a patient, I will personally let Dr Hashimoto know how whoever 'mans the phone' when he is out of the office treats his prospective patients! I called to ask a basic question regarding insurance that any receptionist working in a medical setting should be able to answer with a simple yes or no. Instead Tina decided to answer with "We have an overflow of patients with that insurance right now". Her tone was very off putting and condescending. Tina was not able to give me an answer, not sure where the disconnect was? It seems like she needs to learn how to speak to people. I can not say enough great things about Dr Hashimoto and his office. It was by chance that I found this family dentistry because of needing my annual military dentist exam. The exam was thorough and he offered great advice to keep my mouth healthy. He is never pushy or upselling you on anything either. You can tell he genuinely cares about you and your overall health. As you can imagine, the Dentist is never a pleasant thought. I mean really... this has been my sentiment my whole life. But after being talked into going to Dr.Hashimoto from my GF, i have a new outlook on them, as well as my childhood grown fears dissipated. Scott is Extremely informative and Blunt about what he does, looks for and is trying to achieve. He gives you clear concise advise and is never looking to get over or over work things. He has a passion for his practice and patients and does his due diligence to inform you of things/actions needed to be taken to get your oral health up. The staff are polite and fun to chat with and Teri was a breeze with the cleaning, normally those are the worst with all the picking and scrapping... But it was EXTREMELY minimal for the amount of time it has been since i had my last cleaning(5 long years, with only 4 Cavs....not great but i expected more from my soda consumption.) All in all, i look forward to going back. He is a great Dentist/Doc who cares about his work and his patients, whom is Honest(hard quality to find) and wont upsell you. I visited Dr. Scott Hashimoto in the last summer. It was an Ok experience. Throughout the two sittings I had with him, he kept praising his alma mater and telling me how my previous doctor from India didn't do a good job. Also, the cap which was fit by him fell off in two days, and to put it back he charged me something (don't remember exact amount). This happened in the summer of 2014. Now, today I called his office to get a copy of my full mouth x-ray, but his office told me that they cannot email the copy to me as they don't have access to digital services (??????). To get a copy of MY x-ray, I will need to pay them $25 and it will take 24 hours for them to get it ready. read more

When I moved to Fremont some years ago, I needed to find a local dentist. After talking to several, I tried Dr. Hashimoto's office. It is a family run office and it works smoothly. Dr Scott always takes the time to explain procedures and things. Terri, the hygienist, has the same method. I was sent to Scott Hashimoto DDS by the Army to have some dental work done. I was scared because I had heard horror stories about some of my friends getting very messed up by civilian contracted dentists. SCOTT HASHIMOTO WAS AWESOME!!!! He was very friendly, informative, professional, thorough, efficient and so was everyone at the office. He did not do anything that wasn't necessary (as the military DR had recommended some cavities filled that were not there) and he also had no problem giving me an extra shot to numb my mouth as the first two weren't enough. I have had dentists refuse or complain about that sort of thing in the past but he did not! He also took the time to explain the x-rays to me so I could see for myself what was going on in my mouth. My kids and I have been patients of Dr. Scott Hashimoto for the past 10 years. He and his staff are excellent with cleaning, exams, x-rays as well as helping children understand why it's so important to take care of their teeth and gums! The office is clean and the administrative staff is friendly and flexible. I appreciate the fact that this is a family owned and operated business. If you have any questions on dental care, he and his staff provide easy to understand information without the BS other dentists might offer to get you to spend money you don't have. The rates are reasonable and you won't pay for anything you don't need! His sister, Terri, the hygienist, is excellent as well and makes teeth cleaning a breeze! read more

The Hashimotos have been my family of 6's dentist and hygienists for basically all of my 27 years of life, and for very good reason. They have always been friendly and professional from the front desk to the dentists, to concerned follow-up calls, and even availability for fielding off-hour emergency calls. A regular visit with Dr. Scott for me would usually involve some type of interesting chatter, very calculated and quality work, clear explanations and answering of any questions (which I really enjoy), and general good judgment like when he had to work on my uniquely cracked tooth and crown procedure. Trust me, the dentist office is far from the top of my list of favorite places to be in, but maybe like a chaser in a very harsh drink, they have grown on me to make the experience manageable (I don't think anyone actually enjoys going to the dentist, or at least getting work done). The skinny: The Hashimoto practice in my mind is somewhere I comfortably fall back on, confident that the care of my mouth is in good hands. read more

A pretty good dental office. Everything went smooth during my first check up, and Dr. Hashimoto was nice. I don't know why but I was a little unimpressed. I blatantly told them I needed an x-ray since I haven't been to the dentist in 2 years, and they told me I wouldn't need to take it.... And I believed them until they called me to take x-rays again!? I really wish they would have just listened to me -_-. And then one of the assistants took FOREVER to take my x-rays. What should have been a 20 minute appointment turned out to be a 45 minute sit-down. Overall, the checkup was fine. There were these minor perks that really kind of annoyed me. Went here with medi- cal insurance for my little girl. Pleasant experience throughout. No wait for appointment, fast expertise service and good dentist. He was great with my kid and the Local anesthetic given was very little ( I'm against too much medication/sedatives-- like other dentists who overdose the patient with meds so that whatever they do goes unnoticed...only to realize after the meds effect subside...that could take take forever....). He yanked two teeth gently yet steadily in one go.(these were teeth to be removed to allow the permanent teeth space to prevent overcrowding). Would definitely recommend him. read more

Family practice. I had Dr. Scott Hashimoto. Very outgoing guy who is very competent in his practice. He thoroughly explained procedures, what he was seeing, preventative methods, and fully answered all my questions. Kind of felt like I got my teeth cleaned while going through dental school 101 basics haha. It's nice that he takes the time to inform and educate his patients so that we can become more proactive in self care of our teeth! This dental cleaning experience was really quite unique compared to every other dentist I've been to. Friendly staff and warm environment. Dr. Scott Hashimoto is wonderful! I recently changed my dental insurance and was very sorry to learn that his practice currently does not accept DHMO. He and his staff have always been polite, professional, and very competent, but what makes Dr. Hashimoto's practice exceptional is the level of care he gives his patient! Dr. Hashimoto not only gave me the standard check up and cleaning, but he explained to me the latest in dental hygiene WITHOUT trying to upsell me on any services. More importantly, he checked the lymph nodes on my neck and found that one of them was inflamed and suggested I ask my primary physician about it... what comprehensive service! (My primary doctor was actually concerned and I received a biopsy but thankfully nothing serious--and it was Dr. Hashimoto who discovered it.) Besides being a good dentist, Dr. Hashimoto is just an all-around cool guy! He's actually pleasant company to have in a dental office--a place where people are often already a bit uncomfortable to begin with. I've been to other dentist and this is by far the best experience I've ever had! read more

I used to go here when I was growing up, and never really had a problem with it (other than "getting in trouble" for not taking as good care as I should have - but that's common). Now that I moved back to this area, I went to go see them again and have mixed reviews. Be prepared - when you first go here to get a cleaning, make sure you floss daily for at least 2 weeks first! They have a standard policy that Dr. Scott does an exam and if you have more than 10 bleedings, they will NOT do a cleaning that day. You have to go home and brush/floss regularly for 2 weeks and come back in to get re-examined. If you still have excessive bleeding, they will take you in for extensive scraping. If not, then you can finally get your cleaning. While I understand the principle, had I known this ahead of time, I would not have gone. Especially since I am switching insurance before the 2 weeks is up. Now I have to go find a new dentist before my insurance runs out, which I hate to do. Scott is a pretty good dentist - he has a sense of humor but he will get on your case if you're not taking proper care of your mouth & gums. Plus, the x-ray machine in the office was not up to par, so I had to hold it in place while the technician ran back to take the x-ray. read more

Ok, I have literally been a patient of this dentistry office my entire life. (50 years) Scott's dad was my original dentist and I switched to Scott when he joined the practice. Teri (Scott's sister) is my hygienist. I have never had a bad experience with them. On the contrary, through emergencies, force majeure, or just hard times, Scott and Teri have always improved my situation. Scott is extremely candid, conscientious, and never fails to give you his honest professional opinion----even if you may not like it----but I've never received bad advice. I have medi-cal and was looking for a dentist to tend to an abscessed tooth that had caused extensive swelling of my face. Called 1-800-DENTIST, was referred to Brookvale Dentistry and had a horrible experience there. Did a search on yelp and found Dr. Hashimoto. Upon my initial visit, I had early on felt some uneasiness about the visit having had bad experiences with new dentists in the past. The uneasiness was unnecessary, as I soon found that Dr. Walter Hashimoto (the dentist that I saw) made me feel at ease. He was extremely informative, very humorous, and showed he actually did care not only for my health, but for my personal feelings towards dentistry and care. I have a huge fear of needles, and we opted to forgo the anesthesia. He let me know that if I needed him to stop, to signal and he'd stop immediately. That eased my mind a bit. He was careful, gentle and kind. I appreciate his care and plan to bring my children to visit him for their check-ups. Highly recommended. My first dentist was Dr. Walter Hashimoto - Dr.Scott Hashimoto's father. When I moved back to the area after several years away, I was surprised to see Dr. Walter still practicing, however, he was not accepting any "new" patients. I decided to try Dr. Scott and I couldn't be happier! I have been going to Dr. Scott for about 10 years now and have even referred several friends to him. He is very professional, yet personable and articulates what he finds and his recommendations. His office staff is efficient and easy to work with. If you want a great dentist that you can trust, with reasonable rates and a great sense of humor, then Dr.Scott is your man. Dr. Scott has his principles and generally does good work. I've used him for myself and my kids for many years. He had good manual dexterity (which I did not experience elsewhere with a female dentist who was not able to hold my jaw still while drilling (which means you get a bigger hole drilled in your tooth than you perhaps need to). On the downside, he employs two assistants and to maximize utilization he works perhaps too fast - that is he should spend a bit more time to explain what he plans to do, and the pros and cons of what he intends. read more

Due to change of insurance i had to switch dental offices. This was close to my previous dentist. Called to set up and ck insurance and Marisol said she would call me back...waited a week then i called again. I was forced to redo X-rays by office even though i had them from my previous dentist and i tried to refuse...this was supposed to be a cleaning appointment yet now they tell me cleaning is not avail for 6 months..trying to change to another dentist and now i have to pay an additional $25 to get copies of my X-rays that i will have to pick up next week because they cannot send them..Dr Scott was a little overbearing. i don't feel comfortable here. read more

This is for the front staff only as I have heard good stuff about the dentist himself from family. I called them a day before my mom's appointment and asked if they could kindly fax her paperwork to me so I could fill it up in advance ( I told her that I would rather not bring a 4 and 2 year old plus a 5 month old inside the office just to fill up one paper). The lady reassured me that it will be faxed within 15 mins. it never happened. The appointment was scheduled for 1:15 and we were asked to come at 1. We came here at 1 and thier door is locked. A front desk lady opened the door ajar and told me that they are having lunch and to come back at 1:15. I asked her if she could give me that paper so I could fill it up while we wait. I even apologized for making such a request while they are having lunch. The lady shook her head and said she can't do it. I was speechless. I guess they don't realize how important it is to have quality customer service. It is such a shame that the great doctor loses patients over staff that lack common courtesy!!! read more

Dr. Hashimoto has been my dentist for the last year and he is wonderful! He is genuinely caring, kind, and dedicated to the overall health of his patients. He goes out of his way to explain what he's doing and why, and he gives a lot of great advice about taking care of your teeth. His exam goes beyond teeth and gums - he also checks for signs of oral or throat cancer and any other issues a patient may be having in that area. One of the things I really appreciate is that he has never tried to sell me on unnecessary procedures and is very straight forward and direct about my oral health. Plus he is just fun to talk to. His sister is a great hygienist as well! She has a gentle touch and is very warm and kind. I've always had great interactions with the office staff too. Two years in the row, Dr. Scott alerted us about the white patches on my son's tongue. First year, ENT doctor took a look, was not concerned, didn't do further testing. The second year, Teri, the hygienist found the white patches again & consulted Dr. Scott. Even the light test didn't indicate tongue cancer, Dr Scott advised us to see ENT again. This time a biopsy was done, and a rare type of cancer was diagnosed for my son. Luckily it was detected early, after 4 surgeries and a bone marrow biopsy, my son is now ok. Almost all dentists I've ever had only focus on "teeth", we're fortunate that Dr. Scott always do what he calls "Head to Neck Check", and watch for any abnormal tissues and lumps in and out the mouth. It only takes him couple minutes to do it, but it has saved my son. It's also nice of Dt. Scott to accept MediCal patients and individuals with special needs, who usually require more patience handling. Both Dr. Scott & Teri are great with my son. Really appreciate! read more

I am giving this an average rating as this review is for the front office, and does not reflect my (non-)experience with the the dentist. I made an appointment for my parents - seniors - specifically, for Dr Scott Hashimoto. This morning when I showed up the front office said it was for Dr Walter, and that Dr Scott was out of the office. What annoyed me was that the lady said she was the one who had spoken to me and that I had not asked for Dr Scott when making the appointment. This is untrue as 1) I had researched the practice and asked specifically for Dr Scott and 2) her accent was different from the lady who made the initial appointment. You can guess from reviewing both the dentists why they might be pushing unsuspecting customers to the other dentist. I am disappointed as my parents are 82 and 92, it was hard for them and me to be on time for a 10am appointment. My Dad needs urgent care and we have to start all over again... as I refuse to give this practice my business. I am also going to call my insurance to make sure they are not charged for the cancelled appointment. read more
