A few months ago I got desperate because Shannon was out of town so I took what I thought was a little gamble and went up the street to HB Floyd's. Thing is, when I gamble in Vegas I usually lose, so I'm not really sure why I thought going to Floyd's would be any different. Who knows - maybe I'm a little delusional? So I got butchered bad, baby. Some say the difference between a good haircut and a bad haircut is a week but in this case it was more like a month. Shannon has been cutting my hair for the past year or so, and I just love her. She does a great job, really listens, and just "gets it." I went in last weekend to get my hair colored with an ombre effect, and it turned out beautiful! Yesterday at work I got tons of compliments on my color. Had to update my review with another rave about Randt...I became a mama last year, and occasionally, I have to bring my son along on errands. Some businesses are cool with it, some - not so much. I am careful never to bring him somewhere inappropriate, but we don't have a nanny and have little family in SoCal, so sometime's a girl's gotta do, you know? After moving from San Diego to Long Beach I was in need of a new hairstylist fast. My curly hair was getting out of control so I needed to find someone who could tame and maintain it. Honestly, this led to what I can say is the greatest cut and color I've ever had, and I feel like this is the experience every time! Came to Shannon for the first time after an exhausting search for a stylist that understood blonde color and could not be happier with the results! Not only was she knowledgable, but she was understanding and engaging, and completely efficient. The entire appt took half the time as previous appts where I felt I was in a chair all day. Shannon has cut my hair for many years. She does a wonderful job and is a sweetheart. As a result, her appointments book up weeks in advance, and she notes on her website that she works by appointment only. I'm writing in response to S.P.'s negative review from 7/10/18. Shannon was cutting my hair that day around 6:15 pm (I had a 6 pm appointment) when a woman and her young son came by, asking if Shannon could squeeze in another appointment before she closed at 7. The woman said she'd already unsuccessfully tried to schedule a last minute same day haircut with 5 or 6 salons in the area. It was ME (not Shannon) who, assuming this woman was asking for her son, suggested that if she weren't too picky, they might try Supercuts since they are open later and have several stylists. I was trying to be helpful but clearly she was offended. It seems very unfair, and the epitome of entitlement, to rate an appointment-only establishment poorly because they are unable to squeeze you in for a same day last minute haircut . read more

I went to Randt Salon after reading so many good reviews about Amy. Amy was going to fix my hair - which was just a disaster from a previous color job. The color was literally orange on my crown (Sorry I can't figure out how to add photos). Let me start by saying that I have crazy curly hair with a mind of its own. I have been to many different salons in my life and have learned that you need to find someone who truly knows how to care for curly hair if you want a hairstyle you're happy with. When I first moved to the South Bay three years ago, I did find a hairstylist who knew how to cut curly hair but unfortunately was a horrible colorist. I had made the mistake of dying my hair black and was attempting to get back to a more natural color. My ex-stylist somehow managed to dye my roots DARKER than the rest of my hair. After trying so many salons in the Southbay I had given up hope of finding a stylist who could color my hair the way I wanted. I am so incredibly picky with my hair. I am blonde and was butchered by another stylist right before my wedding who gave me super bleached blond hair that I did not want.
