While visiting Columbia, my friends and I wanted a treat. We found this place and walked up to the window on a hot and sunny Saturday afternoon. There was a family sitting at the table waiting to receive and enjoy their sundaes and concretes. We reviewed the extensive menu and decided what we wanted. We observed someone calling out the sweet treats that were ready for pick up. We were in no rush and could see they were busy. The drive-thru line had a couple of cars. Then the man (owner? Manager?) called out more treats ready and the customers claimed them. I stepped to the window thinking it may be good timing for me to place my order. The man told me as by way of greeting that they have a drive thru window. To which I responded, we have four people. Not to mention that we've never been here previously. Not to mention that we had no idea what was on their menu. Not to mention that we may have wanted to walk around and eat our treats before we got back in the car to drive far, far away. He decided he could take our orders. After we placed and paid for all of our orders, he said it will be about five minutes. He made it sound like that was a long time. We were all very nice and patient. Nobody was in a hurry. We were excited to eat frozen custard. But honestly? I feel like we inconvenienced him by spending our money there. It's tucked into the back of a strip mall. It's tiny. Walk up or drive up only. And it is frozen custard the way it should be. Smooth and thick with the richer flavor that frozen custard has over regular ice cream. We go to Columbia once or twice a year, we will stop there every time. read more

Closed the window abruptly and had everyone in front of us served by 8:50. Still wouldn't let us order.. says you close at 9 but both employees left at 8:54. I went to Randy's last night and it was excellent. As an Andy's frequenter, I was skeptical that anything could live up to it. Randy's exceeded my expectations. I got the little miss popular and my girlfriend got the chocolate covered strawberry flavor. We both got larges and they were delicious and more than filling. The girls working were very polite and accommodated my girlfriend's allergies. Overall, it's a quaint little hole in the wall that mainly locals know about, but they make some of the best custard in town and with 99 flavors, there's something for everyone! read more

I tried the Rice Krispy treat and it was so delicious. The vanilla custard was so tasty. You just order at the window and the service was easy and fast. It is kind of in the back of the shopping center but not too hard to find. I highly recommend for custard. read more

So although the custard is good, doesn't make up for disrespectful manager. Overall I don't get how you can be an owner and treat people the way you do. Limited outdoor seating which whatever I'll eat in the car or go through drive thru but you treat people disrespectful and you're supposed to be the owner. Won't be back to this place again. We go to Andy's all the time since it's closer to home, but we decided to finally give Randy's a try. The drive through is so simple, no wait on the weekend, and their custard is delicious. The concretes here have more mix ins and taste creamer than Andy's. And their color changing spoons! We've been converted. read more

I love Randy's! A friend showed me it a few years ago, and I have loved it ever since. I cannot eat at Andy's when I compare it to Randy's. The main difference for me is the amount of toppings they give. Their concreted have way more toppings than Andy's, and I don't have to pay extra for the amount like I would at Andy's. I haven't lived in Columbia for years, but I have to make a stop here every time I visit, which is a lot. It doesn't matter what season, Randy's is always a great end to a meal. Or beginning. Or just a snack. The frozen custard is delicious and rich, and it's one of the few places that offers chocolate as an option! They have literally every topping you can think of. They have a wall of recipes, all of which look awesome, or you can create your own. I've never had anything I didn't love here, and my nephew agrees. It's just a little local place, and has a small outdoor seating area or drive through. I feel like it's a Columbia staple and everyone should try it. read more

I've been to Randy's on several occasions in the past. Usually after eating pizza or Mexican near by. This visit however was via the drive thru. I placed the order for 1 small strawberry concrete pulled up and paid. The the server handed the concrete to me, as I was handing the concrete to a kid in the backseat a drink spilled in our car. In the process of directing the kids to deal with the spilled drink I hear from the drive thru window the girl that took our order and served it to us say, "God damn drive away people". I asked thru the window "pardon me?" She opened up the window and asked how she could help. I asked her what she just said and she answered that that she hadn't said anything. I told her she had said something and she replied that she was talking to him, meaning someone out of my view. I let her know that I heard exactly what she said. That was the end of that visit. I called the number for Randy's that evening hoping to speak with a manager. No such luck. Their phone number is a voice recording telling you their hours and if you have questions or concerns to email Randysfrozencustard@gmail.com, so I did that. Randy's Frozen Custard is becoming a staple in Columbia. The concretes are great, as are the sundaes and the shakes. Service is fast. The dining is outside, but who cares, it's a concrete. :-) Prices are also great. read more

The "vanilla" custard has an elegant texture, but only a mere hint of vanilla flavor. Chocolate is only slightly better. Scoops are small for $2. Avoid. McDonalds soft serve is much tastier at half the price. read more

After frequenting the other frozen custard shop in town (Andy's) we figured we would give this place a shot. The prices are reasonable and the drive thru isn't typically as busy. This place is underrated. The texture of the custard is very smooth and consistent, with a pleasant amount of sweetness that isn't overpowering. The toppings, especially the fruit, are usually fresh and evenly distributed. Overall, the concretes have a very nicely balanced amount of sweetness with a perfect texture. The malts are also very good, with a generous malty flavor and, like the concretes, an amazingly smooth texture. This place is better than Andy's, as it is more customizable and flavorful. Went through the drive through and ordered a bunch of ice cream for this oh-so-hot day in Missouri. I had the large cement cup mint with chocolate chip. Yum. Large portions and great taste. Our dogs were with us and they gave us a small scoop of "veterinarian approved" ice cream ( Dad's a vet). That was pretty awesome. read more

EXTREMELY RUDE! Walked up in the 90 degree heat with my baby today. Window said to "Please ring bell!!" So we did. He raised the window exactly long enough to shout "I'll get back to you in five minutes!" Then slammed the window shut in our faces. His tone was incredibly nasty and inappropriate even if they had been swamped, but they weren't. There was exactly one car in line in the drive through and no waiting customers ahead of us at the walk up. Will never spend another dollar at Randy's. There are plenty of other great places to grab custard and concretes in Columbia where they don't treat you like your business is a hassle. read more

Few know the concrete was invented in Missouri. Randy's does it justice. The custard has just the right amount of flavor. Not too vanilla-y or too chocolate-y. The custard is thick and goes great with candy. Only thing I wish they had is fresh fruit. I always skip their fruit because it is canned and too syrupy. The banana is good though. read more

Disgusting. My boyfriend and I usually go to Andy's and customize a concrete so we thought we would try the same thing we get at Andy's but at Randy's. It was horrific. The pecans were old and tasted horrible. The chocolate chips were hard and tasted like plastic. The custard was hardly custard. It was liquidy and melted. None of it tasted good. Do not come here. It's way too expensive for the bad quality. Andy's and Culver's have amazing custard and you're much better off spending your money there! Service isn't great either. read more

Went here because it's a smaller place and so close to my house and the price was right. Got an Oreo concrete that was not good and i didn't think that was something that could be messed up. Oreos were stale and were few and far between. Didn't even finish the smallest size and i would normally always want more ice cream. read more

So many options for custard combinations. My whole family really enjoyed their treats. The staff was friendly and I even saw them accept someone's drive through order 10 min after closing. I am here eating with family. There are 4 people working and one of them has a dog in the kitchen. Two of the workers are taking pictures with the dogs. Two people are working and I had to eventually call someone to the window to get napkins after waiting several minutes. The workers saw me and continually ignored me. I have never written a restaurant review before, but I really feel the need to let people know about what just happened to me and my sons. I'm still in shock! I wanted to take my sons out for an ice cream treat for doing so well on their exams today in school. We were right by Randy's Frozen Custard, so we thought we'd give it a try & went through the drive-thru. A woman took our order for 2 concretes and we drove up and I paid with my Visa card. I asked for a receipt and she handed me the receipt from the cash register. I said thanks, but I also need my credit card receipt--I always get a receipt when I use my credit card. The woman turned to a man who had been making our drinks and said "she wants a Visa receipt". He came to the window and said "we don't provide receipts for credit card transactions". I said I'd never heard of anyone not providing credit card receipts, but that I really needed one (I had problems in the past from a small vendor and so I always get a receipt). He said, in a pretty rude tone, "We don't buy the paper because it is too expensive and we already gave you a receipt". I looked at the receipt, and it was for the correct amount, but it showed I paid cash for it. I said "look, I really need a credit card receipt, I didn't pay cash for the treat, and I really would like a receipt showing my transaction". I didn't want to offend him by saying I didn't trust him, so I just said "it's how I track my expenses". He then got very defensive and told me "look, lady, you are the only person in 10 years that has a problem with this and you have a receipt from the cash register and that's all you'll get". As a customer, you can imagine I was surprised at his tone, and what seemed like anger. I asked him his name in hopes to at least let the owner know how badly I'd been treated. Imagine my surprise when he said my name is Scott and I'm the owner and general manager. The only think I could think to say was "wow", because I was in such shock that a local store owner of a small business would talk to a customer in such a rude way. He then said good bye and tried to shut the drive thru window on me when I said "Hey wait! Don't you think Visa might have an issue with you not providing receipts for customers who ask?" and he told me to "go ahead and report him". I said I wouldn't return and he said, sarcastically, "fine, have a good day, and then shut the window in my face". I really am not sure how this store has survived with an owner treating people so rudely. I would think if I owned a store, I might at least be nice and apologetic with a paying customer, especially one with their sons in the back seat of the car who heard it all...I'm embarrassed for him and I most definitely would not recommend you go to Randy's Custard, especially if you have kids with you. read more

I have never been to Randy's Frozen Custard. I was craving a pumpkin pie concrete and was on this side of town, so I decided to give it a try. There was 1 car in front of me and 1 couple sitting outside at the picnic tables. It took 15min. I placed my order and the cashier told me to pull forward for my total. After waiting for her to figure it out, she gave my total at almost $6 for the regular (small) size. I asked her to repeat my order (which she had wrong) and she took another 5 min to get my order correct. Then she tells me another total that she figured out with a pen and paper. The two girls working were rude and appeared to be high (I hope they were just high). She runs my card and hands me the concrete and I asked for my credit card slip. She handed me a receipt..it didn't show any card transaction. I asked her again for a transaction verification/receipt and she told me "we don't have receipts here." Then I asked her if I wanted my money back, how would you put it back on my card? Her response "I can't, I would have to call my boss to come in, and he would have to cancel the transaction." The concrete was disgusting. It had chunks of ice in it, wasn't blended, there was no pumpkin (just a chunk of crust), and I threw it out after one bite. I've called and left a message with the manager and so far, no response. I will stick with Andy's Frozen Custard! I can't believe Randy's is even open..I can't imagine that I'm the only customer that has asked for a receipt. read more
