I had Randy's team come out and evaluate my 23 year old furnace and gas fireplace. Both got a good bill of health, but after the heat in June and knowing the furnace was 'elderly', we decided to replace it with a state-of-the-art Daikin heat pump system that could do both heating and cooling. It took two day to replace the old with the new and its always a nice surprise when the owner himself, Randy, is leading the crew on the install! Randy, Liden, and Riley did a great job, were clean and quick, and checked off all the boxes for someone with OCD like me! A great down to earth professional work crew. Clean, fast, friendly. They install an 36,000 watt on demand tankless water heater and removed/properly disposed of existing 55 gallon water heater following all local codes. I was included in all the decisions giving me multiple options to best serve my needs. Also they updated my electrical wiring and breakers to support the 36,000 watt water heater. They want to charge us $167.0 to come back out to diagnose the problem. They will not warranty the capacitor , should that be the problem. Needless to say, we are going with another local company. We hired Randys last year after buying a fixer upper that had new heat pumps and air handlers at both ends of the house. We wanted to ensure that the system stayed in working order so we brought them out for a standard maintenance. After they finished their job, the tech Sean, explained about the twice yearly maintenance plan they offered. Having had issues with HVAC systems in the past we liked the idea of having someone out to check on the system regularly and they offered some other services with it including a discount on work that you may want done in the future. We hadn't planned on having work done however that changed after our third service with them this spring when we were talking with Sean and explained about my wife's bad asthma and how in the summer the fires/smoke cause lots of issues for her. Sean told us about an Aprilaire system that had special large filters. He took some pics in case we decided to get a quote later on. After talking about it and doing some research it seemed this would be a great thing to add into the house. We contacted Randys and said we were interested, a few days later we were speaking with Randy and explained our circumstances, he gave us some ideas that we liked then got us a quote. They were able to make it out earlier than originally planned and got the new system with Aprilaire and UV lighting installed. Unfortunately we realized upon ordering the special asthma filters that the filter housing wouldn't work with them. I called and left a message after business hours on a friday evening of Labor Day, it wasn't even ten minutes and Randy called me back. He said that they would come up with a solution and be in touch first of next week. He contacted me first thing beginning of the week and said they could be out to the house on Thursday and fix the issue. Once again Sean came out, and just a shout out to Sean, totally professional and you can tell he knows his job, if i ask a question and he isn't 100% sure he takes a minute and calls the boss to get me the correct answer! Sean is welcome in our home anytime, we also love that we get the same tech working on our project and he does our twice yearly maintenance. Anyway Sean comes out, gets the old system out and the new one in, and even brought the correct special filters we requested with him, a couple hours later he is done and he has cleaned up everything and even taken the boxes from the new equipment with him. In a nutshell this company is above and beyond for any type of "contractor" i have ever dealt with. Sean is our onsite guy, Ian is in the office and is always professional and quick to respond to calls and emails, and Randy the owner is a great communicator and very professional and on the ball business owner. Thanks for all you've done Randy's Heating! Oh yeah, the Aprilaire system is awesome! The barely one week we had the first one in we noticed a huge reduction in the amount of dust in the house. There is a reason that Randy's Heating has the best Yelp reviews in the area! I called to get a quote on a new high efficiency gas furnace and he made time that same day to come out. His quote for a higher rated furnace and better warranty of service was even lower than the quote that I had received through Costco - and even included free duct cleaning! Randy was also the only bid that I received that didn't try to convince me to replace my Nest thermostat! The day of install, Randy and his team showed up promptly at the promised time and got right to work. Originally, I had another company come out to diagnose and repair my AC. When they found that I had a switch out in my heat pump and a valve out in my furnace, I was presented with an estimate of $2,000. As it stood, I had neither AC or heat, so a decision had to be made. I contacted Randy, he came out on a Saturday and confirmed the diagnosis. End result, I now have my units repaired at a cost under $1,000. He was extremely courteous, up front about costs. The previous company told me my heat pump was at the end of its lifespan at 12 yrs old and I should look into replacement. Randy told me that my heat pump was in great condition and would continue to run for many more years with proper maintenance and care. If you book with him, be prepared- he runs early! Ho hum - Just another 5 Star review for Randy's heating. Randy went out of his way to help me troubleshoot / fix a problem over the phone so I would not have to do a service call. Once we determined that it was something I could not handle myself, we set up an appointment. Trying to find good service providers has been difficult up here for us. We needed our tenants dryer vents rerouted. The first company we used was difficult to get on the phone, schedule, and they were very pricey. After them saying it would be two weeks before they could get to us for the second one I started to call around. The few companies in the area I started to call from Google all said two or three weeks. Opened my Yelp and there was Randy. He was easy to get a hold of, friendly and fast. Randy's Heating has been exceptional during the install and service of a full compressor and 2 mini-ducted systems. We couldn't be more pleased with the service and the dedication to get this done correctly. We had the system put in during some of the hottest days and for an attic unit I could only feel sorry for the guys up there. They were very courteous and professional throughout. I also give massive props to Randy himself for being onsite and making sure everything was working well even when Daikin failed. They have spent quite a bit of time trying to figure out the issues with Daikin and while I'm very disappointed with the wall control unit, (Daikin made only 1 wall control unit that's about 25 years behind the ball.) I cannot be more pleased with the service and getting the system to work until Daikin can get their act together. I will note that while I'm annoyed at Daikin due to the poor wall control unit, the system is very nice and works very well. The issue is mainly the 1 wall control unit is not programmable and doesn't want to turn the system off and there currently is no other option. We do have remotes to control the system which are working but with kids is not the best idea. Additionally, they just fixed the gas fireplace that all fireplace shops said couldn't be fixed as you can't get parts for them. (It needed a new valve was all.) They took the time to clean the unit and rework the wiring as it's about 20 years old and was really filthy. Very prompt and he didn't leave until the job was done (the electrical guys missed some stuff so it wasn't as quick as we thought it would be) 3. UPDATE: RANDY IS A THIEF PLAIN AND SIMPLE. Not only were the defrost boards replaced by the second company who came out and who educated us on what Randy should have known and did not do, but they also informed us that this particular Trane unit has a track record of failing. Should Randy have known this as well, seeing how this is his expertise? Randy you cannot get out of this one - you came to this house, turned on a switch here and there and said it's working fine. See, that's what these companies do for realtors when lender's require service on heat equipment right before closing on a loan. YOU DID NOT CHECK IF THE DEFROST BOARDS WERE EVEN WORKING BECAUSE THEY WERE DEAD AND YOU FAILED TO CHECK. GO ON YOUTUBE, there are videos of HVac guys who talk about how people like you don't check the defrost boards. They go out every 5 years or so. Well, the entire heat pump is dead because of your neglect to do your job. So the replaced defrost boards are no good because when you came out and failed to check those boards with an upcoming snow storm, the unit gave out and the replaced defrost boards are useless now because of your neglect, YOUR NEGLECT PERIOD. How are you not getting this? How is it you simply just don't want to admit that you should have checked the defrost boards at the time you were hired to service the unit for a lender requirement. To do this to a new homeowner is utterly shameful. You did NOT give a crap and it was winter weather in January, end of January, with a cold snap and snow storm on the way and you knew that. Don't try to lie to everyone here... let this review be a reminder of WHAT YOU SHOULD HAVE DONE - AGAIN, SHAME ON YOU FOR YOUR LAZY APPROACH in this situation. THIS IS A $11K PLUS REPLACEMENT. That's what you did to us and we do not have the money to replace the heat pump at all. We have to live without heat and we had to go through the summer in a very hot house because of you. We wanted this house because it had air conditioning and a heat pump, that was a big deal for us. Everyone who checks out who you are needs to know that you did this to us and you deserve to lose business because you cannot even admit it or even apologize. And no one was yelling at you - THAT'S ANOTHER STUPID LIE... here's what really happened you jerk - you couldn't hear me because you had some loud noise in the background and you repeatedly said you couldn't hear me and I had to talk louder - and then you claimed I was yelling at you. So we bought a house that Randy did a job for the former owner. We have not moved in yet and no one has touched the furnace since Randy serviced it and replaced two capacitors for the woman selling us the house. She even remarked that every time she has to have a heat pump serviced, the service company screws it up. Well it not only froze up but the house cannot heat up past 60 degrees. The neighbor heard the heat pump overworking because the defrost isn't turning on. So I got a call from the woman who sold us the house, I called the neighbor, my husband went out there to try to get the house above 60 degrees and manually defrost the heat pump. Today I called this Randy who is on Bainbridge Island and he cannot hear me, it's a bad connection and I cannot hear him so immediately he doesn't answer my questions and complains that I'm shouting at him over and over. I finally got in that what he did, the service job and replacement of two capacitors, either failed or broke this unit and it's not working... he hears that and immediately says "... I'm not helping you...". That's what the owner of this company says to me. We haven't even moved in yet. SO RANDY WON'T STAND BEHIND HIS WORK and there is nothing we did to break this heat pump. So now I have to get all the document and take this jerk to court. I called the former owner and I told her that the guy she hired won't stand behind his work. This review won't be coming down anytime soon Randy - you really should stand behind your service in this day in age, internet reviews and all. SHAME ON YOU! So here is an update for you Randy: Called another HVAC company and you should have known that the defrost boards only last 5 years but you never offered to the former owner that she should have replaced that nor did you check to see if it was working properly. According to several other companies you should have at least attempted to service or check on that for the service that you did. If you didn't have a way to service or check it you should have informed the owner that it is commonplace, and after all you are the expert here... that these boards go out in a matter of 5 or more years. Well, you didn't even bother with this so now we have to hire a company to come out a replace because you failed to address this. Please offer a comment on the fact that you don't know anything about heat pump defroster boards come on Randy... tell everyone that you failed to address that. read more

Randy's work looks good from afar. Up close it's far from good. Randy is ignorant, unable to perform a heat load calculation. He wouldn't do it anyway because then he can't screw you. Hired to install a Daiken mini-split, Randy installed 24,000 btu and 12,000 btu units in a 1600 sq ft house to overcharge by $2500 (200% equipment markup!!). These units could run a house 3 times that size. Having paid $thousands extra, the too large compressor will operate at a lower efficiency than proper units. Annual energy costs will be higher for life, costing extra money on heating bills every year. It is the gift that keeps on giving. 100% of work failed county mechanical inspection. Randy refused to correct errors forcing costly repairs by 3rd party contractors. Example: Randy's technician damaged the refrigerant line, then concealed it. read more

We choose the maintenance contract option which was very cost effective and perfect plan. The sales was no pressure just no nonsense explanation of the choices. Asked where all the devices/components located and then explained in detail what was going to happen. Very through explanation and then asked if we had any questions. It's the first time I ever used Yelp reviews for a referral, and it will probably be the last. With the 90 degree days, heat pumps fail, and evidently, pretty often it's the capacitor. So the technician had it diagnosed and removed in 15 minutes = $155. Then to put one back in, another $150 in labor. Other than that, the technician was polite. I upgraded this review because Randy called the next morning and talked to me almost a half-hour--he was very proactive in wanting to make this right. read more

This past August our 9 year old Trane heat pump failed. Obtained several estimates to replace the compressor as well as replacing just the heat pump and replacing the heat pump and air handler together. Randy's had the best bid to install a comparable (3 ton, 14-15 seer) Goodman heat pump and was the only offer to include a 10 year warranty as well without replacing the air handler. The install was performed professionally at the appointed time. While checking the system it was determined the air handler TXV valve was not working and probably contributed to the compressor failure. The replacement part was ordered and installed several days later. Extremely happy with Randy's service (and his crew) and as a result I have severed my 10+ years annual service agreement with another local heating/cooling contractor. read more

Randy's Heating was recommended to us by a realtor. Though I don't know why and I wouldn't recommend him to anyone else. Randy was able to give us next day service when our roofers said we needed an old vent cap replaced before they could complete the roofing project (which we appreciated). However, what we didn't appreciate was that they charged us $700 for a 30 min swap out (of which our roofers completed for them on the roof side of that project). Our roofing team tried to work a deal out with Randy and his team to help reduce the cost to us from Randy's Heating since they were doing half of Randy's Heating job anyways. They would not agree to it and we ended up paying a ridiculous amount of money for an incredibly simple swap out. For the record their work was fine but their rate was $375/hr (and they only did 30 min work - you do the math!). I think Randy recognized they were screwing us because he personally came back later (originally had sent just a laborer) that day and offered to service our furnace 'free of charge'. We declined because we didn't trust him. Buyer beware - the work may be fine, but the bill comes due and they aren't going to work to find a reasonable compromise with you. read more
