After using Gig Harbor for many years, I called them back to give me an estimate in the middle of last summers heat. The time until someone could come out was ridiculous. If they are going to promote SERVICE then they need to employee more qualified techs especially during the summer months do they can provide the only thing they have to SELL. If they do not think that we the paying customers can get someone else to sell you another AC/ Heating, probably as good if not A better BRAND, then what closes the buying decision SERVICE REPUTATION AFTER THE SALE. Having been convinced into replacing both my AC UNITS at over 30k and taking forever to complete, in was installed leaving the old unit in the attic. This summer ( 2-3 weeks ago) I called them to come out as the upstairs unit thermostat was malfunctioning Something to do with condensation and being freezing cold in the house. Tech came out a few days later supposedly fixed the problem. Now last week same thing is occurring again and trying to get an appointment that's convenient to them is impossible. THEN UPON receiving a scheduled appointment for Today July 7th, Susie calls and says they have to reschedule that the tech that was scheduled for my home doesn't have the "RIGHT LADDER" On his truck and we need to reschedule. That's now 4 days sleeping in a warm bedroom When calling Susie back she presented the Lame excuse about the TECH NOT HAVING THE RIGHT LADDER. DO YOU THINK THAT THEY MIGHT PLAN AHEAD the night before for the correct tools to do a job. So now the appointment to fix the same problem as a few weeks ago is schedule between 8:30 and 10:00 after being told that we have to leave for the airport at 9:30 so if they are not here or are here early and do not finish By 9:30 he will have to leave and come back. Asked Susie why they could not schedule for a 11:00 AM time or later, the reply was they do not want to be in the attics when it's Hot. I do not where she is from but this time of year is not that HOT. So they only schedule 1 or 2 jobs a day but have tech's out selling job's the rest of the time? Maybe they give the right LADDERS to the estimators or maybe they have to share. WILL WAIT TO SEE what comes out of this and discuss compensation for the HOTEL ROOM for 4 nights as it's been So HOT UPSTAIRS. HIGHLY RECOMMEND you think twice about this company or if nothing else, insure you get 2 other qualified bids and check there service ratings. We really appreciate this company. We had a leak in our AC system, near the coil, which at first seamed like we would need to replace the coil, well over $1000. However, the technician put a sealant in to the system which worked and prevented us from having to replace the coil. Great to see a company like this, putting customers first, versus putting its own financial benefit first. read more

I had a very good experience with Gig Harbor Heating and AC! Had a situation where my heating system was not putting out heat throughout the house. They were able to come and investigate the issue within 24 hours for a fee of $99. They were able to remedy the problem within 48 Hours as they required materials to repair the issue, which had to do a with a leak in the transfer lines that are connected to the AC system. However in the meantime, they set the furnace on an override so that we could have heat until they returned for proper repairs. Our service tech was Travis and he was very easy to communicate with and explain to me what the issue was. They also we're very courteous and respectful upon their service. I believe that the price was also fair and affordable. I would recommend having this company give an estimate for repairs when looking for service in the area. read more

We have been putting off replacing our old forced air electric furnace for years. The heat wave of 2021 motivated us to call Gig Harbor Heating and AC in September of that year. What a great decision! Gabriel came out to our place to give us an estimate and schedule work. Promptly on the designated day at 8:30 two electricians from Sun View Electric, Danny and AJ, arrived to do the preliminary work. They got their job done professionally and efficiently. Next came Matthew and Justin, personable and professional, who took apart our old furnace, and, until 6:30 p.m., worked steadily at installing the new Mitsubishi heat pump system. At the end of the day, the operating of the thermostat was explained to us. We knew we had acquired an excellent heat pump but after they departed we were a bit overwhelmed with the operating of it! The next day when we phoned Gabriel to ask if he would visit us again, he was quick to schedule a time. Not everyone might need a second visit for further explanations, but we greatly appreciated his detailed answers to our questions. Gig Harbor Heating and AC is an excellent company. We wholeheartedly recommend them to you. Update: Today, in October 2022, Travis, a technician from Gig Harbor Heat and AC, came out for the complimentary 1-year service call. Don't get me wrong, these are great guys. I had them out to my house today to look at my A/C that went out last night. Unfortunately, I don't like paying $89 for a misdiagnosis. The run cap was visibly bulging. I was going to say something but I am not the subject matter expert in HVAC. They said it was my compressor that was bad and would cost upwards of $2k to fix. Same day I called a different company out to get a second opinion on this diagnosis since $2k is not pocket change. Wouldn't you know it, $239 later my A/C was fixed. It was the run cap. Nothing wrong with the compressor. Maybe some refresher training is needed on attention to detail? I'm not sure. Probably the last time I will us this company though. read more

I have two heat pumps, one of which, the fan motor and controller had to be replaced. When finished, I noticed a vibration. It seems that a weight had come off of the squirl cage during the repair. When I called to report this to Gig Harbor Heating, I was informed that it was not there fault, even though it happened after they worked on it, and that I would be responsable for the cost of new squirl cage and labor. When I questioned this they informed me that I would have to prove that it was they who caused the problem. I found this to be an insult, and not what I would call a good buisness response or a good customer support. I would not use this company again! Update_ I had another company out. Found the squirl cage was bent. Asked me how it had been pulled from shaft, I said that it was yanked on by the tech. I was told that this was not the proper way, it should have been done with a puller. New tech said that all weights were in place. Cost to repair $480.00. Again I say, I will never use this company again, and I definitely do not recomend ! read more

Gig Harbor Heating was subcontracted through a terrible contractor I had. One mess after another. First they installed the PVC piping incorrectly and another contractor had to fix it. Which he also didn't do it correctly and it leaks water, yet it passed inspection. This furnace cost me a lot of money. A lot. They installed a new thermostat as well. I complained about a few things that were blown off. I was cold. I have never been cold with the old heater, which worked fine. Long story. They didn't do or I don't think they even checked the duct work. One, the thermostat I believe was not working oroperly. I have the thermostat on 74 and said the only time I'm warm is when it's actually running. They told me to just turn it up higher. The kitchen can get 10-12 degrees colder and I have a small house. But the worst? When it freezes outside the furnace stops working. The first year I was so mad I went to the mountains during our cold spell. This last Christmas it stooped working again. I called them but they couldn't even look at it until after Christmas. I called Puget Sound Energy and they came out and looked at it. GHH didn't install it correctly. I read the install instructions. If you live anywhere it freezes you have to insulate the condensation tubing. Mine runs up in the attic and they zip tied and screwed it to the rafters. The tubing went out the side wall and on to the roof. Believe it or not PSE told me to take a ladder, an extension cord with a hair dryer and "just warm it up. Then it will drain and your furnace will kick on". What? In the snow, rain? I fall a lot and I would have to climb on the roof. No way. I called back GHH a couple times and no one called me back. I had talked to one person who said they would call me back. I said it wasn't insulated and she said something like, "I don't think we do that". ugh! This is their warranty. So I had to climb in the attic and pull down the tubing. It is now inside my heated garage draining into a 5 gallon bucket. I have to empty the bucket daily because I get 3 gallons of water every day. Im not done fighting this yet. My 1400 sq ft rambler 's thermostat is 74, the thermometer I put right next to it says around 70-72 and my kitchen goes as low as 56. Good thing I have a fireplace! Oh yeah that was in the contract to fix as well but the contractor never got it fixed.Good luck! read more

We were getting an estimate for a heat pump, but he also did some trouble shooting for a problem we were having. He was very through & spent a lot of time with us. I was assigned this company through American Home Shield, after numerous failed appointments with other companies. Gig Harbor Heating was the first company to promptly reply and return phone calls/emails. Travis was amazing at explaining the issues that were present with my split a/c unit. It was a Samsung unit he wasn't entirely familiar with but he worked on it like a champ and had a great attitude. Most of my grievances are with American Home Shield. I would NOT recommend them. Owner/Operator was highly volatile, actually yelled at me and tried to Overcharge me. 3 RED FLAGS that happened to me that you should be aware of... RED FLAG #1: Tech admittedly did half the maintenance job, and didn't check for the non-cooling problem when asked. RED FLAG #2: 20% $$$ difference in pricing depending on who you talk to in the company. RED FLAG #3: Owner/Operator was highly volatile and actually yelled at me! My HVAC System: 5,000 SQ FT house w/10 y.o. Trane system, 2 units, zoning, whole house filtration. Hired them to come out on July 13, 2017, to inspect HVAC system in a newly purchased house. Told the technician that the AC did not seem to be working - could hear it go on but it didn't seem to be cooling the house and wanted to fix it. After he was done, he said it was $139.19 per unit (I have 2 units) for the inspection, but he was only going to charge me half because he only did half the work because the systems looked really good. I asked what half he didn't do and asked him to please do it all and that I wasn't worried about the money - I just really wanted it inspected well, especially since it wasn't cooling. He assured me that he didn't need to do a full inspection because everything was in really good order and would rather keep me as a customer. I practically begged him to do it all and charge me for it, but he declined. Told owner/operator about the experience and he said - We give them the training, but I can't force them to follow it. Since I already paid them money, within about a week, I called them again and said they really need to send someone else out and inspect the units because the AC was STILL not cooling and told them that the last guy said everything looked in really good shape. They sent a different tech and he said I needed a new compressor. So, I had them install a new compressor on July 31, 2017, for $2,781.45 and the first day it cooled very well, then seemed to gradually stop working. I also showed him that the whole house filter panel was blinking red warning lights. He said it looked like a fault code and would call Trane's tech support for answers and get back to me. Had to wait until August 18th, 2017, for them to come back out and troubleshoot the whole house air cleaner again and eventually said I needed a new panel. Later on, the tech gave me the pricing over the phone. Called later to get those prices again in writing, and the owner quoted me a price that was a few hundred dollars/20% (approx) more than his tech quoted! Contacted company again on August 25th and told them even after they installed a new compressor, the house is not cooling (75-degree air coming out of vents). The owner became irate over the phone and actually yelled at me, trying to make me feel like I was asking for the moon because I wanted them to actually fix what I paid for before purchasing a new whole house cleaner. At no time was I disrespectful, rude or even angry - just wanted what I paid for fixed. Quite shocking to have him yell at me out of nowhere. He just kept yelling that he was really busy. I guess too busy to be bothered with customers that he has to send his guys back out to make things actually work. On August 25th, 2017, the tech came out to look for a freon leak, thinks it may have been a screw head not on well enough. Time will tell. Looking back, I should have let them go after the first red flag, but I believe in giving people a second chance because people do make mistakes, or their employees do. In hindsight, I see that I have been over-accommodating and an outlet for the owner's anger. Don't let this happen to you! read more

Their prices are good, the service is prompt and friendly and technicians that come out are considerate, articulate and competent! We know with a furnace this old that we will need yearly maintenance and Gig Harbor Heating & AC is who we call every time. Travis is the technician we have dealt with most regularly and he is great and Susie in the office is very friendly and compassionate. They are just good people. I had a fairly difficult job where I needed a furnace in my crawl space replaced and a heat pump added. I got several bids from local contractors. Two companies completely refused to even try once they saw the crawl space. Robert from GH heating said, "I'll find a way". They did and at a fair price and quickly. The installers were very helpful and made some suggestions that made the system even better than I expected. After having 4 companies come out and give us a quote for heating and cooling our house, and having four complete different ideas of how to make it work for our situation, we decide to hire GH Heating and AC. They have been in business a long time and have a good reputation. We appreciated having knowledgeable people (one of which was the owner) come out to talk to us instead of a sales rep that can't answer challenging questions. They spent a couple of hours figuring out a good solution and what they came up with was something we agreed would work well. Once we knew they were the front runner for the job, they willingly came out again to go over finer details and an ironed out plan. The installation went well - both guys did a great job and it wasn't an easy one with having to spend a lot of time in both the crawl space and attic. Four full days later, we had two complete systems in place, just in time for the warm weather. They were professional, efficient, and hard workers. We were contacted after the fact to see how things were going - something that is always appreciated. We are happy to have an efficient system(s) that will make our home more comfortable and are glad we went with these guys! read more

Wouldn't trust the owner Robert. Came out for a bid on a new 6 ton furnace, 10 days later still didn't receive one, called after 4 days and the secretary said oh my they are so busy, and she would look into it. Called 10 days later to see where the bid was. I was told he decided not to quote the job as I had asked when he came out, if I purchased the furnace would he be interested in the labor end, he said no at the time and, so I said fair enough quote me on what you would replace the old unit with, he agreed, then nothing. There was not even a call, email or any other form of communication to tell me he wasn't interested. Personally I was raised differently, if he wasn't interested, he should have told me then face to face, or at least called later to tell me rather than wait for something that isn't going to happen, it's called follow through. I Don't respect him, wouldn't trust him due to his lack of character. read more
