Some of the best food in town. Or the area to be more correct. The place is a little out of the ways, but still a quick and beautiful drive out. There are ducks in the parking lot. It's a very nice property and the inside is all cozy. It can get busy, so be aware of that possibility. Good bbq options. The combo plate is my way to go. They have all the sides but Mac and cheese. We tried this place 3times.. and three times at least one in our party got sick... it gets high reviews because there is no other bbq place within 30+ miles to compare to so the reviews are very biased... OK, there aren't many restaurants in Rolla. I'm a recent transplant here, and I heard from some long-time Rolla natives that Randy was a guy that sold BBQ and sausage out of his truck in the parking lot of the local Kroger for years and years, but eventually saved enough scratch to start his own place. And it's a good effort. It's a sort of wood-paneled corrugated steel place outside of Rolla. The place is clean and well lit, just a giant main room with a bar off the side of it. Some notes: -They feature shredded beef, pulled pork, smoked pork loin, and regular and spicy smoked sausage. -Sides are pretty standard: beans, slaw, fries, corn, onion rings. They also feature a "stuffed baked potato" that is more like an entree, and the ones I saw being brought out to tables appeared to have about a pound of pulled prk on top. The staff there all seemed to big fans of the stuffed potato. -Bar has about six beers on draft, more than you would see at the average place in Rolla. -Staff was really friendly and they let us hang around well past closing time. I was met there by people that drove straight from Nashville and they really liked the food. I thought the portions could have been bigger, but maybe I was just hungry. My husband and I ate at Randy's yesterday, on our way home from a trip to St. Louis. When we decided to stop in Rolla for lunch, I googled restaurants in Rolla, looking for something different! It's 3 1/2 miles out of the way, on Highway E, a two-lane somewhat winding stretch, and it's out in the middle of nowhere! But, what a beautiful piece of property, with a gorgeous view of the small lake and farm land. My husband ordered pulled-pork and I had the chopped beef and we shared an order of "roadkill chips", sort of BBQ nachos (homemade potato chips with cheese, beans, and chopped beef). We tried his homemade sauce, which was a really good blend of sweet and spicy. The food was very good, plentiful, and fresh. Randy took the time to visit with us and explain his venture into the restaurant business. We wish him well, and would go back when in the Rolla area. read more

Out of the way and worth it. You think you are headed for some random place in the middle of no where and it can be a bit apprehensive...but they have some awesome food. Service can be a bit inconsistent...we've had ok service and we've had great service...but the food makes up for it! read more

Went there today for dinner with my wife and three kids. Location is outside of the city, greets you with great smells from down the road. We were seated immediately, however I started to notice that our drink orders had not been taken after 10-15 minutes. This was a consistency through our meal. The wait staff was friendly just seemed overwhelmed or too new at the job. The food order was placed about 5 minutes after receiving drinks. The food has great prices, a kids hot dog meal $4, 3 meat sampler $15. We waited again to receive our food, 20-25 minutes, for those keeping track that's about 45 minutes. I got the sampler, it tasted as if the meat had been resting for too long. Don't get me wrong it was good, try with the house sauce. All and all not horrible. Wish it were a little more speedy. The wait was a killer, and meat not resting for hours. That's why I cannot award higher. Would recommend this restaurant. read more

If you are looking for outstanding BBQ and you are traveling on Rt 44 through MO stop at Randy's. The ribs, sausage, brisket and turkey were well executed- moist and flavorful. Loved the sides of sweet potato fries, onion rings, cole slaw and potato salad. They also make their own chips which are great. The restaurant is in a beautiful setting with a scenic view. If you are ever in Rolla and are looking for some good barbecue Randy's roadkill and BBQ is the place. It is a little out of the way down the north service road. From the outside it looks kind of plain. When you get inside it is very nicely wood paneled and floored. When we were there they were redoing a pond in an expansive back yard. The food is very good. I had the brisket sandwich with their home made seasoned potato chips. My wife had a pulled pork sandwich and my son had the kids rib platter. Also had the sweet potato fries as an appetizer. All very good and not too expensive. The iced tea was not to my liking. That is why 4 of 5 stars. The waitress was very nice and helpful as well. read more

I have been here a couple of times. One of my military buddies told me that a trip to Ft Leonard Wood wouldn't be complete without a stop at Randy's. Randy's is located abt 6 miles from the Rolla exit and kinda in the middle of nowhere.....the restaurant looks like a log cabin inside and is clean and appealing to the eye....The food is very good....maybe a little on the pricier side.....but the service sucks pretty bad.... Most of the tables were occupied when we came in and I placed an order for the spicy wings. About 20 minutes after placing the order, we still were waiting on the wings and the couple seated next to us who came in abt 10 mins after us got their wings. I asked the waitress abt it and it was pretty evident that she forgot...but she told us that the kitchen was swamped....and lo behold!...our wings showed up 30 seconds later....and they were cold.....I didn't really make a big deal as we were pretty hungry....plus we were the 2 scrawny brown lads in the South!!! The ribs were delicious and had a strong smoky flavor. I hosed my ribs with the Spicy BBQ sauce and the spicy chipotle sauce, which were both pretty good and have a hint of an after burn (to the weak hearted....it may be spicier). The sweet potato fries that came with it were delicious but the baked beans tasted like the store bought canned beans. As much as I'm tempted not to say this.....I'm goin to say it....always make sure you take one of your white friends when you come here.....you are subtly reminded that you are not exactly the kind of clientele they want at their establishment. Will I come back here, again?...More probable than not.....but you bet that I ain't comin back without no white friend to tag along. read more

My husband and I have been dying to try this place. The name alone just makes it fun ! The overall atmosphere of the place is awesome. Plenty of stuff to look at, its set on a farm so it was relaxing looking at the windows. The staff was friendly and the owner did come out and personally greet us, which is rare these days. I had the pulled pork, it was good. I loved the seasoned fries, the mix used on them was super good ! My husband had the half pound angus burger, which was a frozen style patty. Like the kind ya get in the packages at the grocery store, we were not impressed with that at all. When going to a restaurant like this you expect a big ole hand pattied burger, it just wasn't the case. Might go back again, if so will stick to the BBQ. We saw some fellas eating the ribs, and they looked pretty good. Randy's BBQ sauce was pretty tasty. I like a sweet and spicy BBQ sauce ! Walked in, was immediately greeted and seated at a table overlooking the pond out back. Staff was friendly, fast, and attentive. The atmosphere was nice and cozy, rustic with a conservative edge. If you like good smoked BBQ in a peaceful country setting, this is the place for you. We had the pork spareribs dinner with baked beans and cole slaw. Excellent flavor, prepared with a spicy dry rub and smoked. BBQ sauce was served on the side. The service was friendly and timely. There is a full bar area if you prefer to eat there or just have a drink. The owner, Randy Hrovat, is a hands-on proprietor who takes a personal interest in his customers and the food served. The service was good, but the food was not. The portions were very small, potato salad was flavorless and watery, pulled pork was salty and dry, green beans and baked beans were straight out of a can. Would consider going back if it was cheaper but currently not worth the money. read more

This place is a little off the beaten path but well worth the drive! It was recommended to us as great barbecue which we have heard before but have been disappointed. The place is rustic and very open inside. Our server was a young lady who was very fast and polite. For an appetizer we ordered the Roadkill Nachos....homemade chips with baked beans, shredded beef and cheese. Wow!! I could have just ate this all night!!! Chips stayed crisp even with the mounds of hot toppings. Yum!! For my entree I got the smoked turkey and my sides were onion rings and green beans (no potato salad that evening). The green beans had a wonderful seasoning in them and came out piping hot, onion rings were your regular onion rings but omg the smoked turkey was soooooooo delicious!!!! They offered two barbecue sauces on the table KC and their homemade sauce....I ate the turkey as it was. I even had some leftovers (those nachos really fill you up, even with 4 of us) and the turkey was just as good cold the next morning! :) I recommend if you're tired of the same old restaurants in the Fort Wood area to take the drive out there. Restaurant very clean....I'll start with that. Staff friendly. My daughter enjoyed the nachos. I ordered the sausage platter with onion rings and fried apples. For what I paid I expected a little more on the plate but it was ok. I guess I was expecting it to be grilled with sauce. .not sauce on side. Stopped in before the Truman State vs. S&T football game. I had a half a rack of ribs and a sweet tea for about $12. The ribs had a nice smoke flavor and were served dry. I had no urge to use a sauce, because the meat had good flavor by itself. The ribs were fairly meaty and not overly fatty. They also had a good snap to them. As someone who eats a lot of BBQ, I would say the ribs at Randy's were above average. read more

Excellent BBQ, great sides, darn good bbq sauce, the building and the land are beautiful, but the owner's obsession with guns in the joint is weird. It doesn't exactly scream comfort and hospitality when some guy and his entire family are ALL pointing guns AT you in the pictures that hang over your table while you're trying to eat. Why, Randy? My boyfriend took me here tonight for our date night. The food was GREAT! I had the brisket and smothered chicken. I recommend the loaded potato chips. Randy came around to ask how our food was. The view from inside is fantastic, you can see the ducks around the pond, a donkey, some goats and a lovely view of the hills. Best place I have eaten in Rolla or this entire state. Must say the food choices around here suck but I will return to randy's roadkill very soon! read more
