Stopped in on our way out of town. Husbands fave place. This has been here for years. Quant little restaurant. Small menu. Great food and good prices Staff is very friendly. Highly recommend if you're in the area!

We had never heard of this chain and stopped bc it would be something different. I wouldn't stop again. I hate giving bad reviews of little hometown local spots so I won't. I'll let you decide on your own to stop or not. Side note: If I did go here again I wouldn't get a meal but I would get a banana split!

Maid-Rite restaurant chain is obviously doing something right since opening 97 years in Muscatine, Iowa. The mildly seasoned ground beef (loose beef) is generously piled on a steamed burger bun. I asked for mustard, pickles and onions - the burger had a great beefy flavor - delicious. It was a mass that I ordered a two piece chicken dinner which consisted of two chicken breasts, french fries, coleslaw, dinner roll with Land O Lakes butter. The fried chicken breast's were fried crispy golden brown, very tender and juicy. Absolutely delicious. If you're traveling through the Midwest, like we are, give this restaurant a try, friendly customer service. This restaurant is old, but functionable. My main concern is the food which I'll definitely a four-star.

Underwhelming. We waited maybe 10 minutes and the food we got was less than like-warm. The maid rite sandwhich is just unseasoned cooked ground beef. The fries were good and crispy. Not warm though and we got two hamburgers that looked burnt.

Sadly, this place has gone down hill over the years. Growing up in Rolla, this was the place to go after every baseball game. It was clean and the food was excellent. Unfortunately a lot has changed. We stopped on our way to Branson. First thing we noticed is it's not very clean. No one cleaning tables after people finished eating. And the window sill had a lot of bugs and crumbs on it. The food was not as good as I remember. The burgers were about the same, but much more meat than I remember. The burgers here are like a sloppy joe (crumbles meat) without the sauce. All and all, it's a bit messy and greasy. I love them, but they're not for everyone. The fries were the big disappointment. They used to be crispy and fresh. Now they taste like greasy cafeteria fries. All in all, this place has taken a big step backwards from where it used to be. It was sad. And, unfortunately, my sister (who still lives in Rolla) says this has been her experience as well.

Rolla is a small town between St. Louis and Springfield, Missouri home to the best engineering university in the State. When they figured out the school had a higher % of engineers and scientists graduate than MIT, they changed the name from University of Missouri - Rolla to Missouri University of Science and Technology. Yes, the average starting salary for a grad from here, beats every ivy league school starting salary. Sorry Harvard and Yale, but sometimes flyover county beats you! You can tweet that , since Jack Dorsey went to school here for a while! Aside from the school, there's not a whole lot more in Rolla. A McDonald's, Wendy's....the typical obligatory fast food. My favorite is local joints. There are several in Rolla. I remember Maid-Rite when I went to school here decades ago. On Kingshighway, I remember locals backing their pickups in to watch traffic on the road on a Saturday night. Simple times...like American Graffiti. They serve crumbled burgers here....seasoned ground beef on a bun. Nothing exceptional, just simple sandwiches, fries, soda, malts and ice cream concretes in foam cups, fried chicken....theplace hasn't changed in decades...and that is uniquely comforting at times....not to have change.

Out of the blue we found this spot!! My hubby loves pork tenderloin sandwiches and you cannot find them very many places. He also makes Maid-Rites. Did you know there is a Facebook page tracking all the places that have tenderloin sandwiches. Anyway, they play 80's music and the inside tables and booths are like an old McD The breading they use on the tenderloins is very salty

Was not aware that we had these in Missouri and had not had a "loose meat" sandwich in quite a while. We were headed back from Springfield and decided we would give it a try. The basic sandwich with cheese struck me just like my past experiences as "unremarkable". Fries were good but not quite Freddies Crisp. The big winner was my wife's fired pork tenderloin which was excellent. The place was clean. The service was friendly. Order at the counter and get a number on your ticket and they call it out. Still worth a try every now again for the loose meat but the tenderloin was excellent.

I had eaten there with my daughter, about ten years ago, which is WAY too long. I used to buy their 'Take and Bake' Pies at Harter House, but my local store no longer carries them. They've always been good. Why did it take me so long to come back? I'm usually traveling with my husband and he prefers BBQ or a burger when we're traveling. I'm glad I mentioned it Saturday, when we were looking for a place to eat lunch! We all loved it so much that we ate there again the next day, on our way home. Between us, we tried both kinds of Chicken Pot Pie (Traditional and Mushroom), the Chicken Salad on Croissant, the Tomato Soup, and the Bacon Quiche. Each entree was served with two hot rolls. I didn't have room for the rolls, but those who did said they were good. Dessert? You may have to take it with you, but they're packaged well. The quiche reheats well in the microwave. Those who tried it said it was the best quiche ever, and ordered it again the second day, so I took a piece home to try. I haven't tried my Cherry Raspberry yet, but the others said the Coconut Cream (whipped cream) and Custard were wonderful. I did try one of his cinnamon/sugar pie crust cookies. They tasted just like my mama used to make. He said he's planning to sell those at the Harter House Stores in the Springfield area, so I'll be looking for them. He's also bringing a truck to Harter House in Springfield on Eastgate, occasionally, so I'll be watching their Facebook Page so I can buy a piece of pie without going to Rolla. Good pie crust makes a pie, and luckily, you can find them in the freezer case at Harter House and Price Cutter Stores. Look for "Mickey's Pie Crust", ready to put in the oven and bake.

Gluten free Gold mine…read more I can't say enough good things about Scruff Grill. As someone who has struggled to find safe, delicious, actually enjoyable gluten-free meals, this place absolutely blew me away. Their gluten-free options are incredible--thoughtfully crafted, full of flavor, and far beyond the usual "substitute and hope for the best" approach most restaurants take. The gluten-free buns are a standout: soft, sturdy, and honestly the best I've ever had. They don't fall apart! That alone would earn them five stars, but it gets even better. They use dedicated fryers, something that's nearly impossible to find, and their staff is impressively knowledgeable about cross-contamination, ingredients, and allergen safety. I felt understood, respected, and genuinely cared for. Every bite was packed with bold, unmatched flavor. It's clear the team here takes pride in what they create, and it shows in the entire dining experience. Scruff Grill has earned my gratitude and my repeat business. If you're gluten-free--or even if you aren't--you have to try this place. It's a gem.
