We never would've found this if it weren't for Yelp. It was off the beaten path which was welcomed after being on I44 for some time. What a great setting on a pond, ducks swimming, a chicken running around the area and cows grazing in the fields. I had the pulled pork and sweet potato fries. The pork was a little dry but the barbecue choices were good. My sister had the hamburger with a side of fried apples which were both good. And my son had a hot dog with fries which was good. Randy's Roadkill BBQ & Grill is a roadside bbq shack located on a long curvy country road just off highway 44. I stopped in with some friends on the way back home for a late lunch. We arrived and were quickly seated and immediately took notice of the unique location and decorations. Randy's is located on a farm overlooking a pond with free roaming ducks. The service here was slightly questionable as our waitress forgot about our drinks and often disappeared several times. She had forgot about the drinks so long we were just about to get up and get the drinks ourselves. As far as the food goes we started off with an order of the Fried Gouda Mac & Cheese Bites, these were delicious however I really didn't notice and of the macaroni noodles in the bites, but the cheese was creamy and absolutely delicious. For my meal I went with the 2 Meat Plate, and selected the ribs and beef brisket. The meat was good, however I found the ribs to be slightly lacking in flavor and the brisket to be just a little dry. The sauces helped really add some flavor, you could choose from Randy's and Kansas City Style sauce. I personally preferred Randy's BBQ Sauce as it had a much better taste and really paired well with the bbq. I also had a side of green beans and fried apples, both were good but the fried apples were delicious. I can only imagine how they would have tasted as a desert with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, lol! Overall this was a good stop and a decent value for the amount of food that was received, however I don't see myself getting back here anytime soon. read more

Loved everything about it. Brisket is amazing. My wife loved the pulled pork baked potato. Beautiful views. Get the spicy bbq sauce it's amazing. We loved this restaurant! The BBQ aroma when you walk up is amazing. This place is a little off the beaten path, but definitely worth the drive. The restaurant is doing a good job with COVID guidelines; tables are spaced, there is outside seating and the server wiped down every inch of the table & chairs with a bleach solution. We tried the brisket, pulled pork, turkey & sausage - they were all very good, but the brisket was the best. In addition to the great food and cute decor, the service was excellent. Went there yesterday with a table of 9. Made a reservation from the highway and they had us set up and seated immediately upon arrival. The place can be a bit hard to find (especially if you're enjoying the twisty road in a new German car) but plenty of parking. The inside is well done and Randy certainly has captured the roadhouse spirit in a place that he told me he built himself. His tremendous pride was evident in everything and that just made the experience that much better. My wife and I couldn't decide between the shredded beef and the pulled pork sandwiches so we ordered them both and split them. I started with the pork and she started with the beef - it took a concerted effort on both of our parts to give up the second half of the sandwich. After trying both, I was impressed. The meat is dry-rubbed and smoked plenty long enough to develop a great flavor. It was tender, not dry, and delicious. The other family ordered a couple of the fried appetizers. One was jalapeno slices and the other was sliced green chilies in a jalapeno-seasoned batter. I can't eat jalapenos so I can't offer any first-hand impressions but everyone at the table sure seemed to love them and the generous basketfuls disappeared. Also, my wife managed to try one of their entrees (burnt ends) and said they were delicious as well. Sauce or no sauce is a personal preference but Randy offered a home-made sauce he's developing and I used some on both sandwiches. It added another several layers of flavor but the meat is so good that it really isn't necessary. One of our kids had the smoked sausage thinking it would be like the grilled (store-bought) sausage I make at home. She didn't like it very much but ate all of it before I could get a bite. Can't offer an opinion other than it looked good from where I was sitting. The other kid had a half-rack and I managed to score a bone. It was really good - nice and smoky but tender. Not a fall off the bone, but one that you eat of the bone...just the way I like ribs. Again, dry-rubbed and no need for sauce unless you just simply don't consider it complete without. Certainly a great find and somewhere we will both recommend to others and return to ourselves. read more

I am very stingy with 5 stars, but this is as good as barbeque gets. The atmosphere is great, the service it great, and the food is awesome. Rolla does not have many restaurants that I would recommend to out of town visitors, but this is sure one of them. Randy is a big believer in using spices. Try using the sauce in the shorter bottle...it is Randy's orginal sweet and spicey recipe and may be soon coming to store near you. This was our first time here and we were not disappointed. From the time we walked in you could smell the bbq. Atmosphere was fantastic, service was quick, and food was great. It has been many years trying to find a good smoked sausage and this place knocked it out of the park. Randy knows how to smoke meat! The ribs and smoked sausage were awesome as was the smoked turkey! Randy had a few homemade sauces which were really tasty, especially the chipotle BBQ sauce. The meats though were so good, you didn't even need any sauce. We also had the roadkill chips which were made with homemade chips, delicious baked beans and brisket... Definitely try these out! The sides were also pretty good, especially the beans, onion rings, and sweet potato fries. The restaurant itself was clean and overlooked a small lake. Randy came over and talked to us for a bit and gave us some recommendations on what to order. From the time we were seated , to when we were ready to leave, Randy (owner & MO native) was a ball of energy! The restaurant's interior is very homey , warm, rustic & all things American. We liked the deer heads hanging & the funny quotes posted. There's also a bar section (Prohibition on Sundays) where the restaurant's theme continued. I really wish we visited in the day time so I could see the full beauty of the property. Our waitress was a pleasant & personable young lady who seemed to enjoy working there. Now about the food! Let me start by saying that Randy was very confident in his restaurant's product when he was going over the various choices with us. Our 1st thoughts were "of course he'd have pride in the food, he owns the place". Take his word, better yet take my word for it ; the food is really good! You can't beat getting a great meal for a good price. Every thing I tried was good & my colleagues agreed & they're brutally honest. The mac & cheese bites were crisp balls of smooth Gouda cheese & macaroni. Their BBQ wings are flash fried so just the right amount of crisp skin and tender, tasty meat. BBQ nachos came with house chips, pinto beans , cheese & topped with shredded beef. The 2 meat plate came with a choice of 2 sides (I had the green beans & potato salad. We were all a tad lethargic after our meal but still managed to make room somewhere in our bodies for some of Randy's homemade, moist, flavorful cheesecake. If I did make a New Years resolution on not pigging out, tonight would've been my downfall. Stopping by at Randy's Roadkill was definitely worth the 40 minute drive ! Every time we go to Rolla for a visit to grandma's, we have to make at least one stop at Randy's Roadkill. The ambiance is great and my daughter loves watching the animals out at the farm. So many menu options to choose from and all the meat is delicious so it's hard to choose. My personal favorite is the turkey but my husband loves the ribs. Randy's own barbeque sauce is really good and perfect on just about anything. The seasoned fries, loaded chips and onion rings are also favorites. read more

Alright, its a few miles out of town but its kind of a nice drive and the scenery once you get your table is bucolic. This place smells like seriously good bbq and it delivers seriously good bbq. Portions are ample without being too large. Service is good and Randy is fun to talk to. Some people might be put off by the patriotic and outdoorsy decor. I walked into Randy's Roadkill last week 45 minutes until close. The waitress kept walking past us and finally I just ask "do we sit wherever we want"? She said the kitchen has already stop serving food. This is a bit annoying for several reasons. If you have hours posted to your website and to your establishment door that say that you're open until 8 p.m. You should be seating customers up until 8 p.m. It sounded to me like they wanted to get out the door and 6 top that walked in would have interfered with plans. This is the first restaurant I have ever been refused service for being closed when they're hours still say that they're open. If they do not want any new customers passed 7:15 then the hour should indicate that they're open until 7:15 not 8 p.m.. This is quite the little drive from Rolla and to be refused service at the door will guarantee I will not attempt to go back and eat at this establishment. I grew up in Rolla, Missouri and when I come back I'm always looking for the new hot restaurant. However, coupled with the customer service and the staff being rude. I would not try this establishment again. It's sad I was really in the mood for barbecue as well. read more

This place is hands down the best BBQ I've ever had. The appetizers were amazing, and the place itself was charming. Staff was friendly and accommodating. It's not very far off of 44, and worth the extra few miles to get there. The owner happened to be there, super friendly and very likable. We will be coming back here, every year, on our annual cross country trip. Thank you so much for an excellent lunch.
