I was referred to Randy's (with the advice that they didn't know much about them. They were trying to get me to replace the Tranny in my Tundra. I asked for pics and that they'd not drop the pan until I knew what they found. I showed up 3 days later to find the truck lifted and the pan off. When I told them I was taking it somewhere else, they said come back in an hr. I asked about the fluid and the mechanic said he'd put the old stuff back in. I told him to at least fill it to spec. When I came back to get it, they lied and told me he filled it to spec and told the service writer (in front of me) to "get this guy outta here." They didn't want to give me any paperwork but I requested it to see what was in writing and they said they'd filled the trans fluid to spec. I asked the other shop to let me know what they found and they confirmed my suspicions, there was only 1 quart of nasty fluid in there. There are plenty of other shops, don't go here! read more

Rebuilt my trans on my 99 7.3l power-stroke with an upgraded torque converter and they gave me a warranty with it where no one else would. The son of the owner knows a lot and holds up to his word. I would not recommend buying anything from this company. They do not stand behind their products. We ordered a valve body kit for a dodge and when we installed it we had transmission codes and the truck would not move. Yes, the truck drove in on its own power with no codes. We called their tech support and was told it could be this or that. We spend a day and half checking what they want to and come back with they will not pay for the time we have in the truck. They also claim we did something wrong on install. so, we took it to a transmission shop in town and they put the valve body on a dyno and found the valve body to be no good. So, if you are looking at their way over price part try talking to your local transmission shop first i bet you can get a better deal and product from them then these guys. read more

Randy's was recommended to me by another transmission shop. I had a transmission warning light on my '15 f150 and it behaved like the clutch was slipping. I called at 8:00 am. They said it would be diagnosed today. I got a call back in the afternoon and he said he didn't think it was the tranny. He thought it was a turbo charger. I authorized an hour of diagnosis. Great Mechanic - Randy's Auto Repair The timing chain broke on my 2011 Ford 5-150 work truck. I took it to Randy's Transmissions. They did a great job of evaluating what was wrong. They were patient in explaining to a non-mechanic what was wrong and gave me options on how to fix it. The truck has 170K miles so I was hesitant to put money into it. They did a complete check of the truck to see if there was anything else that could break in the near future. Though there are no guarantees something else won't break in the near future it was comforting to have everything checked. I was impressed by how thorough they were and the attention to detail. DO NOT GO HERE..My mother had been doing business with randys for 10 years and it was great everytime but this last time we asked them to get an alignment and fix the shaking in front end when braking she also told them she would do all the other things they asked to fix on vehicle last time we came in. She maxed out her credit cards 8500$ to do this and we got the car back now I had gotten a breathalyzer installed right after and we realized the car wasnt fixed but not its an ordeal to bring in because its our only car daily driver and they need 2 days to hold onto it because of breathalyzer so it took a month for us to get back but we were in touch by phone the whole time. At the end of all of it we jad to fix it ourselves after we trusted and paid them to do the job they wanted to charge her again which she couldnt pay and still has the issue to this day and their front desk clerk insulted me and tried to fight me on the way out after finally telling me we're screwed and I argued how we contacted them right away and trusted them they didnt care after spending 8500 with them they wouldnt help us with something that was their fault and would have only costed them 200 tops to do their excuse was she said it knocked not shaked and I said dont you test drive anyway to get tge problem solved and they threw every lie they could at me like sun rot tires which the tires are still in great shape but my mother is screwed over and left in debt for nothing read more

2022_0608 Updated Review Took my vehicle there today for a coolant exchange and an oil change with synthetic oil. I was in out fairly quickly and everything is okay. They went over the other recommended services by the dealer (fuel system and brake fluid and stated after an examination that it wasn't necessary). These guys are the best. I am lucky to have found them. 2022_0519 Original Review I've been going here for over 14 years. At the time I usually interfaced with Russ who died several years ago. Russ and his brother Randy are the two most honest mechanics I have ever met. I took my wife's minivan in for a problem with a front axle and they said that this was covered under the vehicles 10 year / 100,000 miles warranty, and made an appointment for us at the dealership to get it fixed for free. I tried to pay them for their diagnosis and they wouldn't hear of it. When the vehicle was just shy of the 100,000 miles warranty they examined it from top to bottom and noted 3 issues. They even told me what to say to the mechanic at the dealership in case I was asked about one of the issues. By the time we took it to the dealership with just less than 100 miles to go on the warranty they dealer repaired all 3 items that would have cost well over $2400. The head mechanic did ask to see me and asked how I even though there was an issue under the manifold and I explained I took a pipe, placed it near the engine and heard a tapping sound and he muttered "old school", so no more. This place, Randy's Transmission & Auto Repair has saved me so much money over the years. One time we put my wife's minivan along the street to make it easier to tow, and learned that a snake coiled itself up in the engine compartment of her van and had a tow take her vehicle there and Russ and the tow truck driver freed the snake and took it over to a nearby area field (near the freeway) to let it go so they could work on the van We plan on keeping our vehicles longer than 100,000 miles and will be seeing Randy more often and we actually trust him and his team since they truly are "honest" and that's a rare thing to say about an auto mechanic. read more

I have a 2008 Ford Expedition that went into limp mode just entering Flagstaff AZ a few weeks ago. It posted a P0770 code (5th gear solenoid bad). The Ford dealer there could not even bother to look at it for 2 weeks so we had it towed back to Mesa for 800 bucks and parked it until i could get back into town and find a place to take it. I called the Ford dealer in Mesa and was quoted 210 to check it out, and 940 for a new solenoid pack if that's what it took and 175 per hour to do the work. That was bare minimum. I called a few other places that couldn't be bothered until after thanksgiving week But the Guy at Randy's said he would fit it in so I limped it down to them on Monday. He got to it on Tuesday morning and verified the engine light was a bad solenoid. Told me it would be 145 to take the pan off and inspect what was really wrong so I said yes. He called me back a few hours later and said that it was just the one solenoid and they could get it from a California supplier but it wouldn't be until Wednesday before they would get it. I said do it. I called them Wednesday to see how it was going and the part had not yet arrived but was out for delivery. The guy on the phone said they were trying to get out of the shop by noon so it would be done as quick as they could. They called at around 11 to let me know they were still waiting on the part but that Randy himself was going to stay and finish the job today. Randy called at 12:30 and told me it was fixed and a full transmission service was completed on the expedition and he only needed to do the test drive so we headed down to meet him. Randy presented me with the bill of only 396 bucks and the small bad solenoid. Holy Moley! I could not believe it. What an honest guy. What a stand up shop! I thanked him and told him I would be bringing all of my work to him because they do all types of automotive work there. I could not be more impressed by them and their work. The expedition drives better than it ever has. I recommend this shop to anyone with car problems. read more

Worst Auto repair shop experience I EVER had. Tricked a young 21 year old landscaper into a new transmission that the truck did not need. Lied and said the pan had black fluid but was red as blood. Continued to give them the benefit of doubt, and every time I told them that my problem was not fixed they either tried to blame it on my MAF sensor that I replaced via Chevy dealer. These guys are part swappers, not mechanics. Will update with pics here shortly. I live in Florida and I used my Suburban to pull a heavy trailer to Vegas. The transmission overheated and became ruined as I pulled the hills into Phoenix. I took it here and dealt with a gentleman named Russ. He fixed it and my total bill was much less than his original estimate. Also prior to him fixing it, my Suburban had an annoying vibration that nobody seemed to be able to fix. I had another Suburban before buying this one and it also had an annoying vibration. So after Russ fixed it now there is no more annoying vibration - and that isn't even what I brought it in for. Also, whatever he did improved the fuel mileage. I used to be able to go about 4 hours on the interstate, without pulling a trailer, on a tank of fuel. Now I can go 6-1/2 hours on a full tank. Today was my 6th time at this shop (all different cars) and once again they amazed me. Every time I've been there I've left feeling like I got a great deal. I've never had any problem with any of their work. Today when I backed on to the street that's as far as I got. I looked up their # gave them a call they gave me the # of a towing company which was also quick. Their shop was packed and very busy and they had me back on the road in about 40 min for less than cost of the tow. Get a second opinion before going to these guys. It has now been 2 years since I took my truck to Randy's. They told me it was going to be $4600 for a new transmission and that my current transmission was COMPLETELY worn out (at 97,000 miles). They said that I had metal shavings in my transmission fluid and that It was essential that I get the transmission replaced ASAP or face huge consequences. Well they are complete liars and were blatantly dishonest to me. I ended up changing the fluid myself and got the fluid tested and it did NOT have metal shavings like they said it did. In addition I also replaced the transmission mounts. Now I currently have 141,000 miles on my truck and has shifted PERFECT with ZERO signs of issues ever since I did that. It truly does seem like they prey upon Individuals who they believe would not double check for themselves or have no knowledge of transmissions. I would have had to throw away $4600 of my own money to these guys and I'm glad I didn't!
