I've been going to "Range USA Mentor" since they opened... through two owners. I took my concealed carry classes there. I have taken my children and grandchildren to "Range USA Mentor" to introduce them to firearms and the rules and practices of firearm safety. Proper handling and respect for firearms is the only way to assure their safety. "Range USA Mentor" has 20 climate controlled shooting lanes with a range marshall on duty at all times. It is clean, well maintained, and well lit. The retail side of the store has something for everyone. They have a wide variety of guns and ammunition to choose from to serve any purpose as well as all the cleaning and maintenance equipment you need. The people are knowledgeable and can answer all your questions. The only reasons I did not give them a 5 star rating is because they are a bit pricey and they no longer have 1/2 hour time slots on the range. You have to buy 1 hour whether you need it or not. Even so... I highly recommend them. Whether you just want to hone your skills or you want to introduce a novice to the sport, it is the place to go. read more

Ken Olp at taught the Basic Handgun Class, and I truly can't say enough good things about him. I was honestly terrified going into the class and didn't know how I would do. His teaching technique--both in the classroom and on the range--was incredible. By the time we finished shooting, I felt so much more comfortable and confident. What really stood out was that he even followed up afterward and asked if I felt more comfortable, and I was happy to say yes. Kudos to Ken and thank you very much for such a positive experience. Not the best indoor range I've ever been to but in the top 10. It is a safe environment, they enforce the rules to keep everyone safe and monitor the shooting lines. As a veteran their pricing on membership is well worth it to me. I'd like to see them do more classes such as AR-15 maintenance and cleaning, 1911 maintenance and cleaning, etc. Corporate event packages would be nice too. On the downside, while I understand making a profit, I find many of their prices on firearms to be high, even with the membership discounts. Real life example. I was pricing out a Colt Gold Cup Trophy 9mm. MSRP listed at $1,699 on Colt website. Listed at original price of $1809 on RangeUSA site. With the "10% member discount" in reality it is only about a 4% discount. I ended up buying online for far less than MSRP having it shipped to store and using my free monthly transfer. read more

I've been here many times, both PB & Range USA, stopped in today to sight in a new Ruger with laser, purchased 4 guns here in the last 2 years for both me & my wife, also much range time & ammo. Now to my complaint, I needed 1/2 hour range time. I was told Range USA does not do 1/2 hour range times anymore, but just did 3-weeks ago...? By the way, no one was using the range at the time so I will spend my $$ where I'm appreciated. I will never patronize this gun range again! I also have friends and family who feel the same. Great place and a great time. The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. Safety is clearly the top priority which I appreciate. They have a wonderful date night special running on Fridays which is good if you just want to try it out. I especially liked that no one gave me the whole "oh you're a woman so I must have to teach you what to do" assumption. Outside of the shooting range, the store itself is nicely stocked. Giving my rather is, I really don't have any problem shooting at a dark, dungeon-like shooting range staffed by a surly, heavily tattooed gentleman, you would imagine has a secret bug-out location, stocked with MREs, bottled water and ammo. However, this visit was for the benefit of my granddaughters 17th birthday. She hopes to enroll in the Navy or Air Force upon graduation and wants a low-pressure introduction to firearms. Shooting Point Blank was ideal. It's well lit, well stocked and shopping there feels more like a visit to Target or Kohls than a typical gun store. The shooting lanes had better than average sound-proofing, but otherwise unremarkable. As far as the gun store are concerned, prices are on the high side like Cabela's. Fin Feather and Fur (Northeast Ohio) is tough to beat on price, but they don't have a range, so how about making up the price difference in gift certificates or range membership? read more

I am a CCW holder, a senior, a working professional? Went to purchase a firearm today. Went through the whole process. The form asked for an email and is clearly marked optional. I provided all of my personal identity, including my drivers license and CCW permit with my phone number. The staff member that used to work for point blank that is there now still told me he had to have my email for a secondary contact.??? I explained it is optional on the form and the female staff member even stated it was an option on the form. He insisted on having it, and I would not give it to him and told him it is my privacy and it is not my identity. He refused the sale of the firearm if I didn't give him an email. I just took my business somewhere else that actually ordered what I needed over the phone into the store for me without a deposit. I asked a staff member for my paperwork back that he printed with all my personal identity and he refused to give that to me as well and told me he will put it in the back. In other words, I didn't buy the firearm, but I still have all my personal information. I called after I left and asked for a corporate phone number to complain, and he told me there isn't one you have to go on the website and file a ticket. I go on the website and you cannot file a complaint unless you open an account with your email.?!! About 45 minutes later, he calls me and tells me it was his mistake, and I could come back and buy the firearm after I asked for the corporate number. Evidently he had my phone number off of my personal information they just took in the store. I said no hard feelings. I just called another store and they would order it in and the staff member hung up on me. I've seen comments online about gun stores, refusing to sell firearms to people because they feel they don't look right. I personally don't like someone judging me by my appearance. So I'm spouted this is the age of entitlement. WTF! By law on that form, I do not have to provide my email or my Social Security it is an option. Yet he refused the sale because I wouldn't provide my email. I will definitely take my business elsewhere. They could care less because so many people are buying firearms and that's the only place around you can go to a firing range so they could care less about customer service or whether or not you buy from them or not. It was point blank and I should've went out of business back when they had that store and I hope they go out of business now. I just want to spread the word. A group of my friends just visited Point Blank in Mentor. We paid to reserve an instructor for our group (many of us very uneducated with gun use and frankly had never shot one). They sent us back to the party room and dropped off safety gear... then didn't acknowledge us for over 40 minutes. We rented our guns and literally weren't shown ANYTHING about loading, safety, stance.... They didn't even check our ID's. The instructor was nowhere to be found. We basically were given a gun and then told to figure it out. Thankfully we had two gun enthusiasts in our group who explained and showed all proper handling. By the time Our instructor got to our reserved lanes, 20 minutes later..... we had figured it out. A guy in the lanes next to us was waving his gun around and pointing it (loaded) around away from the range... which was extremely disturbing. He should have been asked to leave. I understand that they were very busy the day we went, but am generally disappointed in their lack of concern for safety. I was very interested in making a purchase that day until the safety was neglected from the instructors. I would go back, but definitely not in a large group. Nice range. Clean, excellent condition. I live in a smaller town where we can get a range for $20/hour per person. It was almost that much for 1/2 hour here. A little pricy but, they do have a Range Officer so, safety is enhanced. We all know not everyone who shows up on a range is safe! This could easily justify the extra cost. read more

I'm a member, have been for 2 years now. Shoot Point Bank has a large selection of hand guns, long guns, ammo and accessories. The range rules are what a shooter would expect at any range and there are range officers behind the shooters to insure that range rules are being obeyed and lend assistance when a shooter has an issue with a gun. And the range is well illuminated. In my opinion, the employees like what they are doing, are knowledgeable and very helpful, allowing a customer to handle (safely) a range of weapons of which there are many. Too, there are a large assortment of rental guns to try out on the range. SPB .... Just doesn't get any better. read more

Good place to pop off a few rounds in the range they also offer rentals so you can try different guns. Staff in the range have no problem giving you a hand on the operation of your firearm. I rented a ar15 for the first time shooting one and they showed me the ropes which is pretty cool.If you bring your own gun they have no problem letting you use your own ammo. Sometimes they run specials during the week like a date night range package or veterans package. You can also sighn up for a membership and I think it gets you unlimited range time for no cost. I never bought a gun here but maybe one day I'll add that experience to my review to add some more detail. read more

I went into PB today (12-13-18) to purchase some 9mm ammo, which was part of their 9mm Ammo Sale and the offer read, Blazer 9mm 50 ct. box at $9.99/ box or two boxes for $18.00! So, I got there at 11:00am and a sale person asked me if he could help me and I asked for a couple boxes of Blazer 9mm ammo, he replied back to me that they didn't have any and I asked him, can I get a rain check and he told me that they don't give rain checks! Then I asked him, if your Sale just started today and you don't have any of that particular brand, why would you have it listed in your Sales Ad and not have any product to sell and this undereducated moron just said "oh well"! I will never go back to PB again! I'll be going to Atwells, even if it's a little out of my way, at least at Atwell's they treat the customer like family and that's rare in today's world! read more

We stopped in to point blank gun range because we wanted to celebrate my buddy's birthday by blowing off a few hundred rounds. It was pretty cool because if you bring in a child's coat you get half an hour of range time for free to benefit the Coats for Kids Foundation. The place is very clean and well lit, the retail side of the store included everything you could possibly need for shooting. No prices were actually very very competitive if not better than Walmart. They were some weird charges you had to pay when you checked in, like you had to buy a target keeper for $3 that you can clip your targets too. If you do not damage this piece of cardboard you may return it and get your money back. Also the first time shooting there you do have to pay $5 liability waiver. Not 100% sure what this list for or it is even necessary, I've shot in many ranges all over the USA and have never been charged a first time liability waiver. They have 20 lanes to shoot in, and you had to get through three doors to get into the range. There is a fella in there that is the Range Safety Officer who kind of helps out. However my big complaint is you get wedged into one lane, and there is no table do you to start your stuff up on to load your magazines to pre-oil your weapon or even just to set your coat down. If you are shooting with somebody in an adjacent lane they will not allow you to walk out of your liking with an unloaded weapon to walk into the lane next to you and shoot without first putting in a bag? I'm not quite sure with this accomplishes and seems exceptionally nanny state like. Your have two people per lane, however it is very small and very cramped and it makes it difficult to shoot with two people in the lane. Another issue I have is that the Electrical target locator he is not digital like most ranges. That means if you wanted to set it at 25 feet it would automatically measure and stop at 25 feet so you know the exact distance of where you are shooting. However there are no markings there is no electronic incremental measurments it's a straight out eyeball guess. It's a shame because it's such a nice place and they get cheap when it comes to details like this overall I would return. read more

So I have visited this store quite a few times now and the selection is insanely fantastic. Ammo selection is good, but pricey. I'm not going to lie, my first few two visits weren't the best, but they were still knowledgeable and professional. These last few times though I have talked to and dealt with Kris T. and he's a kind and very respectful man, with a good idea of what someone might like based on discussion. The range is very clean and well maintained, some days it's busy and there's a little bit of a wait to get checked in. I look forward to visiting the location again, and I very deeply hope that ammo prices start to come down. read more

Aside from them being located in an industrial park that can be confusing, they are great. The allow for both hand gun and rifle. However no green tip steel core. They will allow for aluminum case rounds for an added fee. They have a great selection of guns for purchase and parts. I believe they also service. You can also purchase selected previously 'rented' guns. You can rent some hand guns, always a wise choice before purchase. They offer the occasional CCW class. I took a beginners handgun course at this location a couple of years ago and then purchased my handgun at this store and use the range for practice. The facility is well kept up. The classroom was comfortable, the bathrooms clean and there were vending machines and cafe tables available. My course instructor was peculiar, but very knowledgeable and left me feeling confident. The course provided time for us to fire different handguns. This was helpful to be able to operate different guns for deciding what type of firearm was right for our needs. Upon returning to purchase, the sales staff was very knowledgeable, informative and I did not at all feel they were pushy. There was a large selection of new guns to choose from. In using the range, typically I've only waited a few minutes to sign in, but at busy times, it does take a while if someone in front of you is borrowing a firearm and indecisive. There are 20 lanes and I've never had to wait for one. There are also safety officers on duty and they are helpful as needed. I've always felt safe here and confident they all follow their policies strictly. I'd recommend Point Blank, especially for newer gun owners. They pay attention and give lots of unpretentious assistance as needed. read more

I called the store to ask about renting a handgun and the range for some needed practice. I was told that I would first need to watch a 3 minute safety video upon my arrival and that they did indeed have the Springfield XDS-9 for rental. I journeyed 15 miles to find a most beautiful store and waited patiently to set up the rental. But disappointment struck...apparently the city of Mentor will not allow gun rentals to those who have never shot at Point Blank before. And none of this came to me after I had called the site and spoken to a gentleman at the range desk using phone extension 223. Apparently the employees are not well informed of current policy. And worse the knee jerk reactions of city politicians to a suicide at that store has caused an unnecessary expectation upon the public. read more

The following is the prices and sales pitch I was given: -18/hr range fee, which I knew already. I was OK with this because I would have shared it with a friend for an additional $9, we were only looking to shoot 1 hour anyways. The SAME price as First Strike, our initial range of interest. The difference is, at First Strike, you can stay as LONG as you like! This is HUGE when working on skills and time and cost factor in. I will often spend 2 hours on one skill, after all, this is how you become an effective and responsible shooter. -A $5 yearly fee-this was pitched to me as a cautionary/insurance liability "because we offer bullet proof windows and stalls". Up to this point, I was OK with the additional $5 a year, I just thought that the sales pitch was lacking and poor marketing. They were passing the cost of liability to the shooter and in REALITY, you are paying to protect them in the event of a law suit at the same time selling a false security to the shooter, as if Unintentional discharge is PREVENTED and that you are SAFE for the additional $5. This began rubbing me the wrong way but I was OK with it. Mentor probably needed the business to carry steep insurance. -$3 fee for shooting the cardboard frame which was app. 8"x14"-it was the backing in which you place your targets on. Usually ranges have FULL cardboard backers and CHARGE $0. You can even take them home after shooting in most ranges. This little bit of information subtly mentioned really GOT TO ME and here is WHY. I was told that this FEE was to prevent you from getting CLOSE to the metal hanger that holds the cardboard which secures the targets. So in other words, if you shoot near the cardboard (which for most beginner shooters is NOT hard to do), your $3 FEE is to somehow prevent you from accidentally shooting the metal hanger. So in other words, you PAY for NOT hitting the metal hanger. Pretty genius and I'm sure lucrative. Look, I have NEVER been to a range in my 25 years of shooting where you PAID for shooting the backer cardboard. NEVER. This was clearly a way to reign in the $$ for beginner shooters AGAIN with using fear as a sales business plan. As I end my review, I DO want to mention that I am pleased to see more gun ranges open in the area. There are all sorts of insurance and limits to a gun range including cost of disposal, which is costly, but the marketing and FEE's that seemed to mount were poorly marketed. How about first time shooting in the range pays $20/1.5 hour including Liability wavier? Now that would have not rubbed me the wrong way. The business needs to look at how they sell their services in an area already established with ranges which are much more inexpensive and without the additional FEEs. Unfortunately, I will not enter in Point Blank again and its not because of hourly range cost but rather the games played with words to squeeze a few dollars more for cardboard and insurance, which protects them and penalizes the beginner shooter. I mean, after all, if you shoot the cardboard and NOT the metal hangers, that is good no? Pass on this one guys and gals. Look to First Strike and Atwells for all your gun and range needs. First off after reading the negative reviews, I came to the conclusion that they must be from those new to shooting, shooting at indoor ranges and/or firearms in general. My INDOOR shooting experience includes many different ranges in Cleveland and Cincinnati, as well as, Virginia and North Carolina. Point Blank isn't the best range I have ever been to, but in North East Ohio it is by far the best. The requirements I have for shooting indoors include: a clean range; having a range safety officer (so many places in the allow any asshole with a gun to step on a range and handle it like a fool); at LEAST 25 yards of range length; no insane ammo requirements. I'm NOT talking about "no steel core ammo", I'm talking about the silly requirement of frangible ammo in rifles (train with what you use in real world conditions Select Fire!) or slugs only in shotguns.... Sherwin Shooting; a good number of lanes (Point Blank has 20); polite staff (we're talking about gun shop and range, they're not going to be your best friend in 5 minutes people). A big factor is price. People complain about "fee this and $20 bucks that..." GET A MEMBERSHIP! Even if it's not with this place. If you own a gun and plan on using it for something other than shooting paper, you need to be on the range a MINIMUM of 4 times a month... if you CCW more often than that! Can't handle that real talk?? Then keep the gun at home cause I don't want you near me or anyone else if you feel you need to use it for self defense! With a membership you can shoot as often as you want for as long as you want (no one hr limit all you whinny people) and it costs between $35-60 a month depending on the membership package. Even if you shot 2x a month it would be cheaper to get a membership! PS. My wife wants me to let all you guys taking your girlfriends to the range so "you can teach them how to shoot", you should be glad Point Blank has a range safety officer. She also said "stop bitching" about dirty firearms being the reason you can't shoot. Most malfunctions are due to operator error (as in improper grip... 500-1000 rds between cleaning means NOTHING). So again be happy there is a safety officer... keeps assholes and idiots from pointing loaded firearms at innocent folks (please review Jeff Cooper's Four Rules). read more

Great place, very helpful staff, great selection of guns/ammo/accessories. The staff are patient and will listen and answer any questions. In my case, Axl helped me through the process of purchasing a gun. He recommended a great selection of guns in the category I was interested in. Not from the area but stopped here with a friend who is. It was really new when we stopped in and super clean. The ranges looked nice and they had 20 of them which is a good number for a range. They had lots of guns to look at and some cool supplies for guns and outdoor stuff. We decided to buy a few things. The guy who checked is out was a real jerk. I was not pleased with how he treated us. Later on, I read online that they don't allow open carry in their store, a GUN STORE. what a joke. Would probably not go back. They completely do not value their customers, are rude and have a chip on their shoulder. They are there to sell and once you buy, they are done treating you with any degree of respect. They simply do not care or maybe the owner does not care since he allows his "staff" to just do whatever they feel like on a particular day. Oh, and do your homework so you don't pay much more for something you can get a lot cheaper. We overpaid at least $150 plus on the gun we bought. The customer experience varies greatly depending on the sales person You're dealing with and can be quite good. My last 2 visits to this store I've been ignored by the sales people (who weren't busy at the time) which is disappointing.
