I was diagnosed with basal cell skin cancer in two places on my face. Rao Dermatology offered the option of radiation treatment, provided by an on-site partner clinic, so that I could avoid the healing time and scars associated with traditional Mohs surgery. This sounded appealing. But second and third opinions from reputable physicians agreed that radiation treatment for basal cell skin cancer on the face was NOT recommended for a patient at my age (in her 40s). Additionally, this procedure on a patient like myself is NOT recommendation by the American Cancer Association in light of potential risk factors and lack of credible research. I have been a patient at Rao Dermatology for about 6 years now. I have seen both Doctors, PA's and recently the Nurse Practitioner Alyssa. All of their staff is very educated and I am comfortable seeing whoever fits within my availability. They have late appointments and Saturdays which I find accommodating. The staff is very friendly and i'm never waiting long for my appointment. Doctor appointments are not always enjoyable for me and its rare that i'm looking forward to an appointment anywhere. However, I do find this office to always be in good spirits which eases my stress and anxiety. It's also probably why I keep returning :) read more

I've been fortunate that Dr. Rao, Dr. Noor and their associates found and removed skin cancers on my face with minimal scarring. The physician assistants are very vigilant with skin scans. Drs. Rao and Noor made an excellent referral for skin cancer surgery that was close to my eye. In my experience, office staff could be more communicative. read more

My main takeaway from my visit was that no one working here cares about anything but giving you a prescription and leaving as quickly as possible. SIDE NOTE: THE FRONT DESK WOMEN DO NOT EVEN WEAR THEIR MASKS CORRECTLY. One had their mask half on and the other had hers laying off of her chin. COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE. My time with the "Dr" lasted about 2 minutes tops and I was extremely disappointed. I had questions, I wanted to know more about why I was having different kinds of acne on my face, etc. but when I asked questions I was given a very simple quick answer and it seemed like she was in a complete rush and did not want to give me the time of day. She gave me a prescription and left without fully answering any of my questions. I work at a fast food restaurant and give my customers more attention and care than I received here. I will not be returning, it was a complete waste of my time. For whatever reason I never had this issue when I used to attend with my mother, guess they think they don't have to respect me as a young adult. read more

If all doctors offices were run this efficiently there would be less stress in the world. Seriously, (with the exception of recent phone/internet issues) every call has been responded to quickly and courteously; even giving an option to send a detailed text message. While they don't keep a waitlist for cancellations, Casey, who picks up the calls is happy to hear from you repeatedly as in her words "that's what they pay me for". Arriving at my appointed time and being seen within minutes, not just being brought into an examining room just to sit idle. It is refreshing to be treated in an office where they know my time is as valuable as theirs. And of course the quality of treatment is impeccable as well. I always post anonymously under a different name because I don't feel comfortable posting reviews with my actual name. I am 22 I have my college graduation in a few weeks and was getting flat tiny sunspot, moles, and cherry angiomas removed from chest, leg, armpit, and stomach. nothing crazy the mark are so tiny! The first time I had an appointment with Dr. Rao and he removed some of them but wouldn't do the rest of them because apparently it wasn't the right laser and they also just want you to come back a second time to spend more money. I am aware of the results that you can scar but from my first treatment I had a month ago with Dr. Rao the scars have healed which is why I wanted to do it before summer so I'm not in the sun with the scars. my appointment was with Dr. Noor this time because Dr Rao did not have anything for a while and i needed it asap. this appt was for a laser treatment not a consult because Dr Rao already approved it when i saw him the last time. I show up to my appointment 25 minutes early to get numbed. the girl at the front desk never greets you which i expect at this point, just "name" in such a rude tone. go into the room, and Dr. Noor comes in and asked what are we doing which as the doctor did the assistant that came in prior to chat with me not tell you what your doing or do you not look at your schedule and know what you're doing to the next patient in the room cause as the patient I have no idea what you're supposed to be doing, which is why I'm coming to you. he grabbed my face and laid it back on the chair kind of forcefully which bothered me. And starts examining my moles, with a magnifying glass and says it won't work, they'll scar or you'll need multiple sessions. I started freaking out because I left work early to drive 20 minutes there and have my graduation and was fully aware that you can scar from these treatments, but again the marks are so small that it would not even be noticeable if it did scar and I was fully OK with going through with the treatment which is why I made the appointment for it in the first place. For him to tell me that he doesn't want to do it and I should follow up with Dr. Rao was so unprofessional if he was concerned he should've made me come in for a consult the week prior. Not to mention he did not even apologize. I walked out hysterically crying, called up another dermatologist in Middletown and they took me in that day because they felt so bad for me and removed all my moles so don't let these people tell you that it can't be done. I used to love this practice. I've had nothing but issues lately. I had a procedure schedule and when I showed up, they told me the machine was broken and they would call me to reschedule later that day. No one called. I called them and rescheduled. They put me in a room and I waited 30 minutes and went to the desk to see if anyone was coming. I walked out and the three people standing behind the desk chatting. I was literally the only patient there. After I asked, someone came to the room. How do you forget when you only have one patient? The medical assistant walked in the room and asked why I was there and then asked where is the spot was that they were checking. He had absolutely no clue why I was there. The best part is when he set up the machine he set it up to check a random spot on my forehead and not the spot that they were checking. I don't know what happened but they are very disorganized now and clearly don't have the educated staff that they used to. read more

If you have any serious skin issues. Do not go here. This place is pretty much meant for cosmetic. The first time visited I was having a bad rash I couldn't figure out. I went and saw the nurse practitioner and she had said it was eczema. Gave me a cream and told me to come back if it didn't go away. I went back another time and it didn't go away. Need less to say I ended up seeing another Dermatologist in the city and it turns out it was a skin infection that had traveled all around my body and left scars that took months to go away. I came back again because I was having a crazy break out on my face and I couldn't figure it out because I never had bad acne as a kid or as an adult. This Time decided to see the actual dermatologist. The woman I saw was very nice but she never actually took a close look at my skin. And I was in the room for less than 10 minutes. she kept saying what I had was hormonal acne, but we tried a few creams and antibiotics. It still didn't go away so I went back and said the same thing that it's hormonal. I ended up getting second opinion again. It turns out it was an allergic reaction from makeup from a cosmetics brand I work for. Now again I have scarring from the reaction that I'm working to get rid of. read more

I needed to see a dermatologist right away. Rao was able to get me an appointment with the NP. The receptionists were so welcoming and friendly. The nurse that started my appointment was patient, kind and listened to what I had to say. The NP Lauren Moose was amazing! She was also very kind and let me talk while I also interrupted with questions and she had great answers. I got a quick and efficient diagnosis as well as prompt sending of the prescription I needed.
