Originally opened on July 4, 1914, this historic lodge sits high on a hill overlooking Estes Park, with stunning views of the surrounding mountains and even a clear view of the Stanley Hotel. With only 27 rooms, it offers a peaceful, intimate atmosphere that feels worlds away from the crowded hotels in town. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed by Kayleigh, the Operations Manager. She was incredibly friendly, knowledgeable about both the lodge and Estes Park, and immediately made us feel at home. Walking into the lodge feels like stepping back in time in the best possible way. The ambiance is warm and inviting, with a true log cabin feel. Many of the decorations and furnishings are original, including some of the glassware, which adds to the incredible history of the property. The first floor features three original fireplaces, plenty of comfortable seating, complimentary coffee and water, board games, books, movie rentals, and DVD players in every room. The lodge has also built a beautiful bar area that should be opening soon once their liquor license is finalized, which will be another great addition. During our first night, we stayed in Room 305, a one-bedroom suite with a separate bedroom and incredible mountain views. The bed, pillows, and bedding were honestly some of the most comfortable I've ever slept on outside of my own home. I slept amazingly well. The room included a kitchenette with a two-burner cooktop, mini fridge, microwave, coffee maker with Folgers coffee, dishes, paper towels, dish soap, sponge, and even cute little salt and pepper shakers. The bathroom was stocked with quality shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and lotion. The view from Room 305 was breathtaking. As the sun set behind the Rocky Mountains, it looked as if the mountains were glowing with fire. It was one of the most beautiful views I've experienced in Estes Park. For our second night, we moved to Room 103, a spacious two-bedroom suite. This room was absolutely huge and perfect for families or groups. It featured two separate bedrooms, a larger kitchen area with a mid-sized refrigerator, multiple bathrooms, a comfortable living room, and a full balcony with tables and chairs overlooking Estes Park. Like every room, it included a box fan, though we actually found ourselves getting chilly enough to close the windows at night. The outdoor amenities are just as impressive. The pool is large, clean, and surrounded by plenty of tables, chairs, and loungers. The hot tub is the perfect temperature and includes bubbling jets. There's a hammock for relaxing, Adirondack chairs overlooking the scenery, cornhole for some friendly competition, and propane grills available for guests to use. The property also hosts weddings, and honestly, I can't imagine a more beautiful setting for one. What I love most about this lodge is that it feels authentic. It's quiet, secluded, and never crowded. The limited number of rooms creates a peaceful atmosphere that's becoming harder and harder to find in Estes Park. I've stayed at five different hotels and lodges in Estes Park over the years, and this is hands down my favorite. The combination of history, comfort, amenities, incredible views, friendly staff, and fair pricing makes it stand out above the rest. With plans for a future restaurant and continued improvements, it's only going to get better. When I return to Estes Park--and I definitely will--this is where I'll stay. Location is great for going to Rocky Mountain National Park as well as for accessing downtown Estes Park, which is within walking distance. The staff were all incredibly friendly, the light continental breakfast was a great grab and go option for early RMNP mornings and the nightly s'more's were a great way to unwind. We really loved our stay here. It reminded us of how traveling used to be. A stay here doesn't feel rushed, instead it encourages you to just stop and enjoy your time together.

We asked her to move us cabins and consider a refund. She moved us to all to a new cabin after we checked the beds an and sofas and they appeared to be clean. Days after we have not heard from the owners and we are requesting a full refund, but we were told only a partial refund would be considered. I have bed bug bites all over my body. The pain and itching was so severe I had to take time off work and go to an emergency urgent care today for steroids and prescription ointment. I can't sleep due to the hundreds of bites and constant itching. It has been a miserable few days and we have yet to hear back from ownership and we have not received a refund. I would highly recommend staying somewhere else.

When I called the lodge, she had to walk to the office to take my reservation (since the whole property is only run by 2-3 people and often she is somewhere else other than the office). The booking was not that hard over the phone but make sure you speak slowly and clearly when you give her any info invovling numbers :D The check-in time is 3pm and check out time is 10am but you can call ahead to check in or check out at an earlier or later time. Upon arrival, Eddie and her daughter greeted us warmly. We were told since the room we originally booked had some plumbing issues we got upgraded to a better room. Yay! The new room is bigger and has a fire place. Eddie took us on a mini tour to see the other lodges on the property as well since each one has a different theme and they are actually quite funky. The lodge we stayed at was small but had adequate space. The kitchen has everything you need except spices and seasonings. There are lodges that can accommodate pets so just ask. We hiked a bit (since the lodge is pretty close to Rocky Mountain National Park. We also went to Hot Sulfur Springs at night (check out my review here http://www.yelp.com/biz/hot-sulphur-springs-resort-and-spa-hot-sulphur-springs#hrid:olYd01SdW95whyRPgZKegg) I like the fact that the lodge is close to those two things. It takes more then twenty minutes to properly clean a kitchen, bedroom and bath with linens, I was a maid for years! INDUSTRY STANDARDS would say all linens need to be striped and changed. Surfaces disinfected esp. with COVID! Vacuum and mop! You would have thought we left shit In the toilet, vomit on the floor and a blown up burrito in the microwave! (ALL of WHICH I HAVE GRACIOUSLY CLEANED IN MY DAY!). So I DO THINK THE DISHES ARE NOT PROPERLY WASHED, THE BLANKETS DO NOT GET WASHED BETWEEN GUESTS AND NO MOPPING. I hope SUE gets out of the hospitality business! She thought my two year olds graham cracker floor mess was PERSONAL and it wasn't! We did leave a NORMAL mess, WE WERE ON VACATION! STAY ELSEWHERE! They kicked out our little sweet family, to fend for ourselves with 1-70 closed and the pass closed. REALLY!
