The parts manager gave excellent advice on tires that all preformed well on dirt, gravel and asphalt. There is a new owner but service continues to be great. The manager was very helpful but not an expert on all the adventure models. Dirt bikes are the best sellers here. A downside is that the owner will not take trade-ins. (Probably because the shop hardly has room for its new bikes.) The 2016 shop was burned in the Alameda Fire. The new shop is much smaller and crowded with KTM dirt bikes with few adventure and high-speed street bikes.

She helped me pick out my perfect starter bike. When I had questions about my bike after dropping her, the service department didn't judge, but made sure I had all the tools I needed to be successful. When I found myself challenged by different riding scenarios they always had tips for me. The icing on the cake is the extra work they put in to help my husband with a surprise of massive proportions when he bought me a new bike for our 30th anniversary this year. Today I'm happy to say I know several D&S employees by name, feel welcome when I'm there, and would highly recommend them to anyone!

Since we were passing D & S anyway, we dropped by to price a new piece for the one lost on Interstate 5. A manager, Josh, overheard our dilemma and mentioned that there was an 'old' one in the back that would fit my buddy's Heritage. Josh then proceeded to install the pipe he found, test drove the bike and didn't even charge for the impromptu service he had performed! We couldn't believe it! He sat in the hot sun fixing a 'hot' bike, and renewed our faith in D & S with his kindness and help. FIVE stars for sure, and I'd give more if I could!

After a ride to work, I noticed a past-bald patch on the rear tire of my motorcycle. Since I…read morerecently moved, I don't have any equipment to take my tire off. After calling around a bunch of places, Specialized Powersports offered the lowest price to replace the tire. After getting the new tire shipped in, I called them on the day of, brought the tire and my bike in, and they had it done within an hour. They even oiled the chain for me! They were incredibly nice. Though, did use some sarcastic humor to keep things light. But 10/10, I will come back to them again.

Unfortunately, we don't have much of a selection of motorcycle service shops here in the Rogue Valley, so I took my chances. I had asked Justin at Specialized Powersports to please diagnose the problem on my dirt bike, and to call me with any updates. I had assumed that the float was stuck in the carburetor. Justin and I had agreed upon $100 dollars to diagnosis the issue, and that if it was something small, he would just fix it for the $100 dollars. Anything more than that, he would call me to see what I wanted to do. Two weeks go by with no word. I had left a voicemail asking for an update the week prior, which was never returned. I decided to go down to the shop in person to see if there were any updates. When I arrived, I had immediately noticed that my dirt bike had some brand new parts on it that I never agreed to. I asked Justin what the updates were, and asked if he had replaced anything on the bike. I also reminded him of our agreement of the $100 dollar diagnostic fee, and that he would contact me before charging any extra or replace anything. Justin seemed surprised that I had not been contacted since originally dropping the bike off, two weeks prior. He proceeded to tell me that the bike runs great now, after having replaced the carburetor, fuel lines, fuel filter, re-jetting the carburetor, and that we were just waiting on a new air filter before it would be ready. I personally, had just rebuilt the carburetor myself, along with replacing the air filter and a handful of other things that Justin knew about, before bringing the bike into the shop. I knew that he was trying to take advantage of me. Justin told me that "I wasn't in repairs very much. Under $300 bucks for sure." I was livid. I told him to immediately cease any further work, I did not want the air filter, and that I would pay him for the work that he did, but I'm taking the bike. It seems to me, that Justin was unable to track down the problem, so he either threw a bunch of new parts on the bike 'hoping' to fix it, or he is just another dishonest mechanic, trying to up-sale the customer as much as possible. I will never go back, and I highly suggest the same. I'd rather make the drive to a more reputable and honest shop. I'm surprised this place is still in business, with the way they operate.

Upon starting my bike on day two of our trip I noticed my bike(a 2012 Yamaha FJR) making what sounded like an exhaust leak. Unable to determine the cause and not wanting to ride the bike in that condition I Googled motorcycle repair shops in the area and found LMS Motorsports. Since it was only a few miles from our hotel I rode directly there so I would be there when they opened at 9am. I was cheerfully greeted by Sherry only to find out the shop only works on off road motorcycles and ATV's. Jeff,(who I assume is the owner) overheard us talking and came over to ask what the problem was. I explained it to him and he said "let's take a look". I started the bike, he stuck his head down by the exhaust and said without any hesitation "I can fix that, drive it around the back". Fifteen minutes later(and a quick TIG weld) I was on my way and able to finish our ride without and further incidents. Turns out they know how to make it worse! And go straight to looking for more problems prior to doing what I had asked them to accomplish for us. Over $2000 later and 3 trips of bringing it back didn't help whatsoever! So when spoke to Jeff at LMS, he already had an idea of what happened. He came to pick up the machine, repaired it and brought it back. Corrected the work that the dealer claimed they already had done. Did even more things than I had expected, plus cost less than the dealer. I reached out to the Dealership owner showing him the invoice for what I just had done. No response, I'm not too surprised! After 10 years of being a customer and buying 2 new machines from them, he could care less to make it right! I'm from out of the area and she even recommended the other shops . I said no thank you one shop lately is closed on Saturdays randomly and the other shop says they are busy leave name number . I appreciate the excellent customer service every time we go into their store! They greet you and all the guys behind the counter are great they take their time helping my husband and myself as well! Even when they are busy they take the time to say I will be right with you .They All have 100 % customer service ! It's great to hear a smile in a voice even though you can't see it! I have recommended him to a few of my friends I ride with and everyone has been completely satisfied with everything they needed. It's hard to find a great mechanic in a small town that actually knows their shit. If I could think of one negative thing it would be that he is pretty much owner operator and has lots of work always on hand. Even with that said my wait time for anything I have dropped off has been no longer than if I had taken the bike to a larger shop. He also has a partner that works on the SxS part of the business. Repair work and customer add-on work. From what I have seen so far they are dialed in great just as much on that side of things. Happy to have found a place I feel comfortable leaving my machines.

He has retired and some mechanically-inclined gentlemen whom he used to employ have taken over. It is also important to note that they are not taking credit cards at this time, so come prepared. I should also disclose that I have gone to Nelson's on and off for years whenever I needed brake work, so I'm a bit biased towards this place. That said, I came back to get my brakes done, and I am happy to say the new owners are continuing with the same tradition of great service at some of the fairest prices in town. I will continue to come here and refer friends, and am happy to see this good service continue in the same way Nelson's always treated me.
