Always a friendly brewery with a nice selection of beer. We like sitting at the inside bar but there is an awesome outdoor area too. My guy's go-to is the Bromosa Hazy Tangerine IPA. He enjoys the "strong punch of tangerine flavor followed by a dry and hoppy finish that even the self-proclaimed 'IPA-hater' enjoys" - just as the menu states. The Category 3 Belgium Tripel is my favorite but just saw that it has 264 calories for a 12-oz pour. (Next one will be Category 2 Belgium Dubbel with just 186 calories.) Actually, both are delicious. We shared the onion ring basket which was a generous serving and liked the Texas Petal dipping sauce. Free on-site parking is always a perk. read more

Me and a few coworkers stopped in before an event down the road to get lunch. The beer variety was great and they distill their own vodka to make vodka seltzers. I ordered their guava sour and it was a nice mix of fruity and tart. We ordered a flatbread and nachos to share. The food came out quickly and nice and warm. The flatbread was loaded and had great flavor. I wished the nachos had more toppings like pico but they were still tasty. The beer cheese was delicious. New Management is Causing a BIG STORM :( I really hate to write this review, as I'm a long time, loving customer since 2017. I have had birthday parties here, first dates, I've brought my family, friends, and this was my mother's first ever brewery. It really pains me to say that this place is going downhill. I'm not basing this review on one experience either, but rather on the last several times I've been here. I quickly became a fan of Big Storm back when I moved to Florida, when they didn't have a kitchen or an outdoor area. They literally had a tiny food truck preparing what little menu they served, along with a couple of picnic tables outside on a concrete slab. Anyone and everyone knows how much I adore this place. I went for a birthday beer in September because I had gotten an email stating I get a free beer. I went solo, no questions asked, no ID requested, it was just a lovely September Friday with my journal and a Bromosa. After the hurricane, they served us canned chicken on stale chips as nachos. I understood because we had all been through hell. I went back for my bf's birthday beer in February, I called the day of to ensure they would honor the free beer. We got there and no one knew what was going on. It seemed the team didn't communicate. That night, the beer caused an allergic reaction, so we knew something was different. We had been drinking this beer for a long ass time. In March, my friend and I went for a March madness game. To my surprise, it was completely empty, right after the FL Gators were playing...bad sign. This is when I really got pissed off. The waitress came out and told me that I could get my own water. I wasn't mad about getting my own water, but this was new and she was rude AF from the jump. I asked her if there were any specials (again, knowing my favorite brewery and the specials myself), she said no. We ordered. My friend got a grilled chicken with no onions because she hates onions. She has also been to this brewery with me SINCE 2017! The waitress proceeded to question her with a straight face when a ton of onions were on her sandwich "what, are you allergic or something?" WOW My sandwich wasn't great, and I was rather disappointed. Anyway, when I went to the restroom, I noticed the same specials sign that I'm very familiar with...which is still posted on the Big Storm Website itself... stating they did in fact have specials for that day. The waitress (Kylie - worst I've ever had in my life, especially at Big Storm), brought us our checks, never took our leftover plates, never asked us if we wanted another beer (we had had one beer), then finally came back to get our bills. I politely said "hey, just so you know for next time, there are specials," and I showed her the picture I took from the poster inside. She immediately said "oh, we're under new management so those don't apply anymore" so I said "well, maybe you should take down the sign because it's false advertising" ANY OTHER SERVER WOULD HAVE HONORED THE ADVERTISED SPECIALS! I don't think we'll be back. They wouldn't even turn sound on for a NCAA game for us when there were barely any people there. They were blasting music you'd hear at an old skating rink. The beer is different, I guess that goes with new management. My all time favorite local beer, the Bromosa, is different. I asked about why it was different and she argued that it wasn't. I highly doubt that she's been going to Big Storm since there were only 2 picnic tables outside and a potential coffee/ice cream shop. Super disappointing, very disheartening, and extremely sad to see a successful establishment being taken over by sucky new management. BUT, it happens all the time I suppose. RIP Big Storm, you've lost some dedicated as fuck customers. I have spent so much money there, and my company goes all of the time for team outings...no more. read more

Ok meal, went there on a Wednesday night. Very busy there. They were definitely understaffed, they did the best they could to accommodate but it was just too much. We had chicken nachos and onion rings for the appetizers. I would stray away from chicken nachos, the flavor or the chicken did not complement the nachos. The onion rings were pretty good, the onion rings get a 4. A couple of us went with the Nashville chicken sandwich, we had coleslaw added to the sandwich, that is the way to go. Had nice intentional heat. The beers were a little disappointing, they were all warm and bordered on flat. This brewery had a nice fun vibe. Many outdoor games to play like corn hole, tic tac toe and more. Service was a tad on the slow side for not having many tables occupied when we arrived. It could be the holiday week and having a limited staff. The food was delicious, drinks were amazing. The menus could use a nice scrub down. This is a cool 16,000 sq. Ft. brewery in Clearwater, Fl founded in 2012. I come here a few times a year. One reason I come here is because they allow my Husky to come with me to the covered outside eating area. We love the Bromosas and often buy them at Publix, although it's just not the same as getting one for. The brewery. Beer cheese nachos and Salsa were a good way to nibble on a snack while you drink your beer, perfect blend of saltiness and cheese. The pepperoni flatbread was pretty good as well, crunch and soft. The have an inside and outside seating area, outside being the bigger seating area. While the brewery and bars with seating are inside. Today's service was okay, there's usually great service here. Today must have been a short staffed day. We didn't have any issue as we were drinking but the table behind us was getting delayed service. This place was empty when we walked in which should have been a red flag. It was also pretty dirty which is surprising because there was no one there, so why wasn't staff cleaning off the bar? There was only one beer on tap that looked interesting to us, the key lime one, and it was mid so we quickly closed out and left. It's been three years since last I was here. It seems like they totally changed the vibe and atmosphere in here! It seems more dark, well lived in and nowhere near as industrial sterile as once it was. I got there right round opening time Sunday morning and I was just about the only one inside beside the four employees running about. The barkeep (James) was a friendly and amicable sort. He asked if I'd ever been; yes, but last time was three years back! So patiently he gave me a couple of samples after I spoke of what I do and don't care for in beer. As a result I wound up with Arcus Southern Pale Ale as my beverage of choice. As like most IPA's, this brew was/is somewhat aggressive in the hoppy column. However a slightly citrus counter note helped destroy bitter afternotes. Way to go on that count, Big Storm! I was not in the mood for apps or any of that as I was not super hungry. Thusly, I chose a BYOB (build your own burger). LTOP and a brioche bun encasing a half pound of medium-grilled yum. It was properly cooked and the LTOP were up to P-A-R too. Only thing I'd do is grill that thing with a good dousing of salt and pepper since the patty was a lil bland for my liking. You get your choice of a few sides and for $2 you can upgrade to a "premium" side. They offered onion rings as one such choice, and after James validated my query, I so opted. I just wasn't in the mood for fries, I guess. All in all, not a bad little excursion, but not a cheap one either. I'd certainly never bother going here for a special occasion or even to cool off after work...I DO have a mortgage to pay, after all. But as a once in awhile lil treat, why not? They offer a full bar with all the regular crap a full bar offers too. They also offer canned versions of the stuff they have on tap, plus a crap ton of other "merch" if that's your thing. They still have lots of undercover outside, dog-friendly seating. I know that they once were known for having good BBQ, but it doesn't look like they do BBQ Friday menu any longer. There are a few BBQ items in their regular menu at least. If U like paying premium prices for poor man's food, then have at it. Personally, I don't care for BBQ one way or the other. James helped elevate this place to four stars from what should be 3 and a half. Nice beer, nice cheer; frightful cost but not wholly lost. This place is super cute! My husband and I met up with some of his college friends to just chill and catch up! We sat on the patio and the server was prompt and kept checking on us! The tenders looked like they had been in a toxic relationship with the fryer--burnt in places and the breading had emotionally detached and was halfway to filing a restraining order. I've eaten a lot of chicken tenders in my life, and I can honestly say this was the first time I've ever needed therapy afterward. The chicken was rubbery. Like, gym-floor rubbery. Came here for dinner to meet with a friend during my trip in Tampa in January. This was one of the few dog friendly spots with a space heater, so I picked this spot. Our waiter overall was friendly and professional. I mainly came to have drinks and catch up with my friend who I've haven't seen in years. Unfortunately, it only got worse from there. Apparently they were playing Thursday Night Trivia, which I didn't realize, so it got a bit loud, but still bearable. But then there was someone protesting outside the business with signs and someone on the megaphone clearing causing a disturbance. Essentially telling people to not do business at this establishment. I later found out that the owners were doing some shady things after a few Google searches. Everything could have been fine, but the host of the trivia night decide to address the protesters and it just became a shouting match and got really childish. Eventually the police had to come to deescalate the situation. We decide to just leave and continue our conversation somewhere else as there was just too much going on. Made for an interesting night and quite the story to tell. read more

A restaurant first, a brewery second. First of all, they are out of a lot of beer. Apparently they have more beers online than in the store. The beer that is left is okay and bad. Nothing great that I could find though. I would have loved to tried Tropic Pressure but apparently they stopped making it. The food was very bland. The fries were good but the pulled pork was dry... how do you make a dry pulled pork sandwich?! The buffalo chicken was good. The service was good. No complaints on service. I went here on a Saturday for the LSU game. They didn't have the game but the service was impeccable. I had two flights and tried a number of really good beers. The food was mediocre however I would come back for the guava sour which was to die for. I like that this place has a beautiful outside space with TVs as well as a a bright open indoor space. ** Non-drinker review ** Came here for my husband, who loves beer. I am a non-drinker, so this is my review. They had a nice amount of indoor seating. When we were there, a graduation party was going on, but they were able to accommodate us and sit us next to power outlets, since we both had our laptops. They do have a nice selection of non-alcoholic beverages, which I appreciate. They had iced tea but it was brewed way too strong, however the server was very accommodating about changing it out to something else. My husband really enjoyed the beer he had. At some point we would love to come back and try the food, but this was just a quick stop while we were killing time for a real dinner. The outside seating looked really nice. I'm sure when the weather is cooler, it's better. We came in May, and wanted power outlets, so inside worked for us this time. But I bet in the winter months it's great! read more

I've been here quite a few times and have never been disappointed! They've recently updated their outdoor area and it's so much better! Also, dog friendly! The food is fantastic! You must get the giant pretzel when you go- it is delicious! I've had quite a few of their entrees- tacos, burgers, sandwiches. Can't say I've had a bad meal yet! The only thing I'll say is that it does seem to take a bit of time to get your food. With the employee shortage, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt! Just order more beer while you're waiting! I came here the other day for the first time, and I really wanted to enjoy it. We came on a Sunday around 4 PM, it was pretty dead, the bar had some people, but otherwise there were not a lot of people there. There was one bartender, one server, and one bus person. The bartender was also the manager. We went and sat outside in the picnic table where we did not receive any service, there was a water pitcher to serve yourself, which was warm, and it was already hot as heck outside. After sitting outside for about 10 minutes I went indoors and asked for some assistance to order, after about another 10 minutes somebody finally came out and gave us some cups for the water & menus... the person who brought these items was a cook. I ended up having to go inside the bar because there was no service outside which was so odd. we ordered Kids chicken tenders and the Nashville hot chicken sandwich. The food wasn't bad, but it was so overly breaded that I had to remove the breading to be able to eat it. Even if the food would've been five stars, the service was so terrible that I would not recommend going there again. It was clear that they were understaffed, but being made to wait for so long and then having to resort to your own devices to get some food ordered is pathetic. I don't recommend coming to a place like this that has bar food only to be ignored. I will say the three staff members that were there were friendly, just not efficient. read more

This establishment hosted the May 2022 Tampa Bay Trivia Championship for the 36 best teams from numerous local bars, including as far away as Lakeland. They did a great job with service throughout the night. The menu was only slightly limited this night, but there was plenty to choose from. Food prices are high and the meal size can be less than you would expect on most items, but the end product is good for a place that centers mainly on their craft beers. So if you love beer you are going to love this place. So many to choose from and each categorized on the menu in different categories like 'sour'. For those that don't like beer they also offer three flavors of cider, including the excellent pineapple I tried; along with multiple flavors of vodka seltzer. Our team sat outside and the only major complaint was the huge level of flies everyone had to battle. This isn't necessarily the restaurants fault, but several of us thought they should have bug zappers if this is common. We were lucky enough to be provided one of their three bug distraction helicopter devices (not the official term. See my photo for what it looks like). They really should have more than three of these since they really work. The outdoor patio is huge and includes plenty of large flat screen TVs to watch sports while you drink and eat. Parking is plenty, including overflow additional parking that is clearly labeled. Nice job installing signs to help us find these. This is a fun brewery and I can't wait until they open their newest location in the Tampa area very soon at the former Hamburger Mary's space in Centro Ybor. Love love love this brewery for so many reasons! Super clean, tons of tables outside in the shade with fans or you can sit inside. They had fun reggae type music and plenty of TVs to watch a game. I brought my dog and didn't even have to ask for water, they immediately brought over a fresh bowl with ice! Food was insanely good, we got the chicken tacos and Buffalo flatbread. Finally had a chance to try and I was not disappointed! Our server james was great and offered to let us try samples of the beer. I ordered the passion fruit raspberry sour and it was so good. We split the pretzel basket with beer cheese for the appetizer. Super delicious salty pretzels and the best beer cheese I think I've ever had. It's a pretty standard vibe from a brewery perspective. Overall service, food and beer were all good! But honestly, nothing was mind blowing. I initially rated this 3 stars but after writing this out, I think it could be closer to a 4. Is it worth checking out? Yes. Absolutely. But I don't think it will be the "favorite" place you hit up in the Clearwater area. That said, we had three flights total, a big pretzel (the mustard they serve with this deserves 5 stars) and shared an order of the fish and chips (house made tartar sauce was clutch). Favorite beers: Cold IPA, Bromosa (another IPA), Strawberry Blonde (this was so much creamier than I expected. I thought it would be too tart and too sweet but this deserves 5 stars) and the Kolsch. My husband, some family members, and I have been to this brewery a few times. This was our first time coming in a long while due to COVID-19. They have a made a lot of changes and updates, including expanding their food and beer menu and adding an extensive covered outdoor seating area. Big Storm gets a lot of flack for not having the "best beer" in the Tampa Bay Area. However, my opinion is that they have something for everyone on the menu--light beers/lagers, sours, hoppy and malt beers, stouts, seltzers, etc. They also have a cocktail menu for non-beer drinkers. We were starving on our most recent visit and decided to order food. I really liked the Impossivle Burger and fries I ordered. My husband enjoyed the pulled pork tacos. They also have several appetizers, sandwiches, salads, tacos, etc. on the menu. Truly, this place has something for everyone. The service was friendly and quick as well. Can't go wrong Needless to say they were great.. plump, juicy and tasty.. usually have the raspberry/ lemonade drink. With raspberries floating on/in glass rim a little sugar . Not exceptionally strong but good. Anyway BIG STORM has changed their menu... wings yes, drinks slightly different. This is a food review not an alcohol review as I did not drink alcohol while I was having lunch. I ordered their bone in wings with their dry rub. The order says it's 1lb. It's $14.95 on the menu. I got 7 wings. That's $2 a wing. And I've never seen wings so dark. Can't say it's the dry rub but more like over fried. And tasted that way. I ate 1 wing. Not worth the price.
