As avid brewery goers, our visit to Mad Beach Craft Brewing was a bit different from our usual spots. We've enjoyed their red sangria elsewhere, so we decided to check out their actual location for food and drinks. We typically prefer breweries with a more casual vibe, where you can relax with drinks and food without a strong "restaurant" feel or table service making us feel rushed. First, we had to pay for parking, which we hadn't expected, but it is a tourist area, so we understood. The food was just okay, and we felt our server was trying to rush us, even though we just wanted to unwind, chat, and enjoy our food and drinks. After only ordering 2 appetizers and 1 round of drinks, we were asked "alright you guys ready for your check" we mentioned we wanted a second round and when she brought that over she continued with "I'll be over in 10-15mins to check you guys out" and mentioned we just wanted to hang out for a bit and enjoy our drink. On the positive side, the place has a cute vibe inside, with outdoor and bar seating, plus some arcade games for kids. Would we go back if we're in the area? We were visiting the St. Pete area for the first time and wanted to check out the highly reviewed Johns Pass area. While walking through the shops, we noticed this brewery on the second floor above several stores and decided to head up since we love craft beer. The space itself is very large, though it felt a bit emptier than we expected for such a busy tourist destination. Because of that, we weren't expecting much from the beer, but we were pleasantly surprised. The selections we tried were outstanding and easily exceeded our expectations. We didn't try the food, so we can only comment on the beer, but based on that alone we would definitely recommend stopping in. If the atmosphere had been a little more lively, this would easily have been a five-star experience for us. read more

Lots of fun games for kids and adults. Seating for large parties too. It was crowded and they shared that it would be a longer wait. None the less, the service was still very good. This is a must stop at when we are in town. We love the beers and cider and wines that they have on tap. They also have a very extensive food menu, including seafood boils. They also have several TVs and if you ask, they're typically able to put a game on for you. It was fairly late when we got here so I started and ended with the Wasa watermelon sangria. It is my absolute favorite. It's so light and refreshing and I always end up going downstairs to the winery that they own and purchasing a couple of bottles to bring home with me. my husband had the #Amberale and it is one of his favorites. He usually gets it every time we come because it's consistent, doesn't have that bitter finish at the end. It's just a great overall amber ale. We were hungry so we did order food. They do have three specials for the upcoming St. Patrick's Day celebration so I had the St. Patrick's Day Patty, which is a huge hamburger with like 1/3 pound of cheese on it and a jam. The burger was delicious. It was a lot of cheese, so I ended up not eating most of it. My husband got the chicken tenders basket and said the tenders were good. This was such a fun dinner! Our favorites on the platter were the coconut shrimp (by far!), and the delicious corn on the cob. Everything else tasted good, although we weren't bit fans of the dip. The beers came out great as well--we both loved the flavors we chose. Service was nice and pretty quick being here on a week night. Would recommend coming into this spot for a beer or dinner! Super cool place located upstairs at John's Pass with some original dishes and plenty of beer! Service was on point with orders being cooked and delivered to our table quickly. They have plenty of games and stuff for kids to do while they wait which was an excellent addition for us. The booth we were seated at actually had its own TV and PlayStation for the kids to play or just a few steps away were pinball machines, cornhole boards, and small arcade area. Maybe this was encouragement for the kids to eat good because they devoured their dinner...and returned to playing! Food is sorta traditional bar type food but it's crafted their way and must say, each creation was really good. The pretzel is HUGE and went MIA before I could get a picture. Stopped in recently for a quick beer during Seafood Fest. Initially we were going to hit the bar downstairs but they were packed. Figured upstairs may have been less crazy and it def was. Beers were decent, nothing that was crazy good, and bartender wasn't winning Ms Congeniality. We have 2 toddlers and I'm always struggling to find places that are kid friendly but also delicious and this one has both! The high chairs are really nice and actually had their own trays and the booth we were in had a PlayStation attached that was free to play. At the back there were claw games and arcade games and cornhole and a little area to play in. My son's favorite was definitely the 'win every time' duck game. Our server Israel was amazing and the food was so good! We had a couple burgers, the pasta, and a chicken sandwich and everything was delicious! Floating through Florida you quickly find out that, Florida has a ton of really great craft beer breweries. Mad Beach definitely is one of the best.. when you had John's pass, he definitely wanna stop in for a great mug of icy cold beverages. Had a fun time at Mad Beach, D was our waitress and did a great job checking in on our group and keeping the food and drinks coming. My husband and I shared the pork nachos which were spicy and cheesy. We also both had smash burgers which were tasty - I just wouldn't go for the cheesy tater tots next time. I thought the cheese would be on the side to dip into, but instead it was poured over the tots and made them a bit soggy. I really wanted to like this place,I love bar food and was super excited about trying this place out but it was just awful. I went with a friend and we ordered four appetizers. A pretzel, mac & cheese with bacon, barbecue wings (which had to be remade 2 times before they got it right) and we tried ordering the tater tot appetizer, but were told we could not substitute- so we had to get sides of tots. We didn't really want to substitute anything. We just didn't want chili on top, and if they were making this fresh, it seems it would be simple not to put that on it. 3.4 --- not terrible but not memorable our server was Emily she did her job well- she was friendly and accommodating she definitely got her steps in... We a double "smash" burger with bacon and cheese and the chicken pesto club! With regular tots and beer, cheese tots, the winner was definitely the chicken pesto club and the beer tots. The chicken was succulent and juicy, and the herb roasted tomatoes mixed with the pesto made for a flavor packed and delicious combo! Burger was disappointing. I wasn't asked how I wanted it cooked and you sounded need yo be with a smash burger. But what I got wasn't a Smashburger it was a burger that had been and relieved of all its juice. My burger came out grey almost all the way through a little dry and was still somehow oily. Could've used a sauce or smashed. I think Smashburger is just a trendy item to have your menu regardless of if you actually adhere to the smashing component. Now the beers, they do have a wide range of German style beers, a lot more stout and darker beers than I would have expected. And they were pretty good. I'm not a dark beer drinker. I don't prefer stouts I definitely prefer the high ABV crisp hoppyness of an IPA with light fruit or citrus notes so settle on Madeira vice. A solid IPA for sure The vibe of this place is definitely more tourist attraction than local gem or your standard pub. They have old game consoles at some of the tables and there is a mini arcade in the back and a full-size bus around the kitchen. Plastic silver ware and paper towels. It's bar food so maybe I'm being too critical... but it definitely feels like they know the food is sup par and they are trying to compensate. Yummy and Fresh! This place really surprise me upon walking in it. I didn't really know what to expect but I got the crab dip that was excellent. And I also got a seafood boil. When I tell you all the seafood there was so fresh. The crab legs are fresh. They snapped when you broke them open. The flavor was good. It wasn't overbearing. The beer was amazing. The staff is really cool. I love this place and I will return. The restaurant is really big. It almost looks like a super big food truck inside which is pretty cool too. This is the second time I've visited the Mad Beach Craft Brewing establishment and it was excellent!!! We solely came for the burger they offered in the Madeira Beach Burger Week contest and it definitely was an amazing burger!!!! Our bartender/server was excellent and very friendly to talk to!! We added tater tots to our burgers which was a great addition!! Also, ordered the I Yam What I Yam (Spiced American Strong Ale) and it also had great flavor with a nice finish for a craft beer!! The artistic aspect of the bar is pretty cool to look at while visiting and they also have great lighting!! Hats off to the awesome job by the cooks for mouth watering food for a great value!!! Definitely recommend this place for their hospitality, wide selection of menu options and their reasonable pricing at a beach restaurant!!! Hip little spot in John's pass. Great beer selection (something for everyone!) we had a delicious blueberry wheat and a summer shandy. Forgot to take pictures of the beer. Our waitress, i think her name was Emma, was fantastic very efficient and friendly! We had the pretzel appetizer. Ours came out on a paper plate not the hanging hook so the presentation was not as "pretty" but it's a standard pretzel with cheese and mustard but jumbo sized. Then we had the wedge salad which was delicious! Followed by the low country boil: crab and shrimp. It was all fantastic except the corn (little overdone and dry) but the crab and shrimp were perfect. And my husband had the Cheese and Chong Burger (a burger between grilled cheese) ; He wasn't a fan of the seasoning. Overall, the restaurant is really cute. They have flights of beer, lots of games to play (cornhole, arcade games) and the kitchen is situated behind a bus that's inside the restaurant. Neat atmosphere, but I probably wouldn't go back for dinner (unless I was in mood for mow country boil and wedge salad). The men in our group both got the Cheese and Chong monster smashburger- it was a lot but so good; kids all got burgers and tots; I had the Totchos- beer cheese, chili, infused sour cream, and crispy tots; and we got a couple of orders She Crab dip- big chunks of crab, but the crostini not so crisp- more like chopped burger buns. I stopped by Mad Beach for lunch with my wife and baby when we were in the area. We had a great time. The biggest highlights were the beer and the service. I was unfamiliar with them as a brewery, so I didn't go in with any particular expectations, but both beers I tried, a nut imperial stout brewed with cacao, and a Belgian saison brewed with wildflower honey, were exceptionally good. Unique and flavorful but polished and well balanced. These were beers that were fun for a beer nerd, but were ready for prime time where I can solidly recommend them to family members who are put off by a lot of breweries who turn out beers that are too yeasty or otherwise too imbalanced to be ready to be a widely marketed beer. As I mentioned, we were there with our baby, so we were hoping to find a table and set up that lent itself to keeping him non-disruptive. We also would have happily eaten inside but preferred the outdoor balcony. When we arrived, we saw a party vacating a balcony table that was perfect for that, but was slightly bigger than our party needed and that they hadn't had a chance to clear off. We weren't going to insist on getting it, but when we mentioned that it might be a good spot for us, the host immediately cleaned it for us. Then, they offered us a high chair for the baby, and it was one of the best high chairs we've seen at a restaurant. It had a comfortable plastic seat for the baby, all of the straps and snaps actually worked (which some parents will recognize is a rarity at restaurants). Our server was very attentive and very understanding about the weird stuff you have to do with babies (like hide a glass salt shaker so that the baby doesn't stealthily grab it and shatter it). Our food came quickly. They didn't pressure us to leave at all but had our check ready when we requested it. They killed it on the service front. The food was also pretty good. I went all out and got the Cheese and Chong burger (2 patties, two slices of Swiss cheese, 2 slices of cheddar, bacon, ranch dressing, held between two grilled cheese sandwiches. Was it too much? Of course! But they kept it restrained enough that it was good, not a pile of grease. My wife got something more responsible which she really liked. This review is specifically for their brews, we didn't eat anything while we were here. They let us sample whatever we wanted. I tried a few and was undecided between ordering the dunkel or the orange wheat but being that it was hot outside I went with the orange wheat as it was more refreshing. If you enjoy Bluemoon, this beer is just what the doctor ordered, even served with an orange slice. Service was outstanding! Really friendly, and informative. He let us know what was brewed in house as well as other drinks for those who want something other than beer. I'd absolutely visit again. read more

Bad food and rude service. Our first clue should have been the lack of customers in Mad Breach Brewing on a hot sunny fall day at lunch time. We ordered simple burgers and tots. So far so good. Then I asked if I could try on a t-shirt to make sure it fit - simple cotton tee over priced at $30 - first the server said yes and then turned around and said only over your closes tho, we don't want people trying them on and then putting them back out for sale. What does she think happens at literally every other place that sells clothes? Very weird. Anyway, when we get the burgers they were terrible. So bad and smelled really vowel. I took one bite and literally could not get it down. I tried salt, mustard and ketchup and then thought maybe I would try it without the buns - it was the actual meat! It smelled awful and tasted rotten. The other did not taste great either, but was not as rotten and didn't smell as bad. I called the server over and let her know and she flat out said nothing was wrong with them. I was keeping my voice down and being gracious just letting her know, as there was one other couple In the entire restaurant at the bar and I wasn't trying to make a scene, and told her I was sure the meat was bad. She started laughing at me and shaking her head and said well I'm sure it's not as she walked away smirking. Obviously graciousness , exceptional customer service skills and a desire to earn larger tips do not run deep in her. Apparently good food, quality customer service, pleasant customer experience, profits from selling merchandise, a friendly environment and repeat business is not important to the leadership either. It's midnight now and as expected we both have food poisoning. The meat was raw inside, but I suspect it had been left out too long or left in the refrigerator too long after thawing. Who knows, but there were bad and the worst part was the complete lack of empathy and graciousness of the servers part. Even if it is just not to someone's liking, it's proper to apologize and ask if they can get you something else. Nots laugh and completely disregard your opinion. But this was actually something unhealthy, that could get them shut down, so maybe apologize for their experience and tell them you will look into it. Of all the optional things to say and do, I would think laugh at your customer, disregard what they are telling you and then they'll them you are sure they are wrong as you walk away smirking - would probably be one of the last options in a service industry. The Cheese and Chong were good I was just expecting a smash burger to be a little more juicy. It was good between two grilled cheeses but I felt the burgers were a little over done. The wedge salad was really good, I thought it was a good side instead of tots. My wife got the Jelly donut burger and that was delicious it had good flavor, she said it was a little much with 2 full size donuts for the buns. My kids shared the totachos and it was very small we had to get them something else to have because they were still hungry. The restaurant it self was fun and I liked the decor, it has some arcade games and corn hole sitting out to play on. The waitress was nice, didn't have any other interaction with any other staff. After eating here on vacation, this would not be a place I would revisit, it just wasn't anything to write home about. read more

Mad Beach has been a go to from my first visit to the area. The gluten free options are tough to pass up. This year I opted for the boneless wings to go. They are so good it's hard to believe they are gluten free. My daughter had the burger and tots. The ambiance is also great. Games are indoor if you want to visit on a rainy day.
