There are some great things about this gym and some negative. The staff for the most part is really…read morenice and helpful. They are always nice at the desk welcoming you with a hello and saying goodbye when leaving. The cleaning crew are always cleaning and the place is spotless. You always have cleaning wipes to clean down machines. There is rarely dust anywhere and the bathrooms are always clean. There is a large parking lot but it does get filled up quickly so give yourself ample time to look for a spot. There is brand new equipment as of the beginning of 2025 so you are basically working on everything New. The price of this gym is expensive. if you just use the gym area you are paying for the whole gym. Pool, and other amenities and such. This is though I think the best gym so far I would say on the island for the money. Nice people working here , nice clientele, clean atmosphere. It does get crowded at times but tell me what gym doesn't.

If you are a woman be prepared there will be male workers coming into the locker room or even the…read moreshower room unannounced. I witnessed it twice. Even a YMCA staff escorted those maintenance workers into the women's locker room and shower room the Y staffs would not make sure everyone aware of it. I personally don't feel secure in this environment. I understand things broken and need repairing. It's impossible to closed down the entire locker room for just maintenance purposes. But the management should do a better job on this. I don't blame those maintenance workers. It is 100% responsibility of the YMCA management to pretect their members. They should have trained their staffs better to make sure everyone aware of the situation. No one wants to experience surprises like this. ***Updates: Thanks for writing back. Here is more information about both incidents as requested. Look forward to seeing any improvement. The first incident happened sometime last year. Once I walked out of the shower room I heard some men talking in the sauna room. I quickly ran back in the shower room and told the cleaning lady what happened. Then she talked to the YMCA female staff who accompanied the maintenance workers. She then walked them outside and asked me to finish changing in one of the stalls in the locker area so the workers can continue the repairing. I was not notified by any staffs about the situation when I was in the shower. The second incident just happened couple weeks ago 9/26. When I entered the shower room from the pool I saw a YMCA female staff standing in the hallway and sipping ice coffee. I saw one of the shower stalls occupied at that time. As soon as I entered one of the shower stalls I heard a man voice. He was supposed to check which showers were broken. I was not being notified when I walked in the shower room even the staff saw me.

I started training with Coach Phil in February and almost immediately felt stronger, more…read moreconfident, and energized. Phil is extremely passionate about what he does, and it shows in everything he does at the gym. He works with people of all skill levels to help them achieve their fitness goals! He clearly takes a lot of pride in his business, and it shows in the way he keeps the gym in impeccable condition. Everyone who trains there is expected to put things back where they belong, and as a result, the gym is always spotless. This creates a really positive environment that makes it a pleasure to work out there. Phil knows the name of everyone who trains at his gym. Not only does he greet each person by name when they arrive, but he also takes the time to introduce everyone to each other. This creates a sense of community and camaraderie that is all too rare in today's world. Overall, I can't recommend Phil and his gym highly enough. Whether you're a seasoned athlete or just starting out on your fitness journey, he will help you achieve your goals in a welcoming and supportive environment. If you're looking for a personal trainer who truly cares about his clients and takes pride in his work, look no further than Phil and New Dorp Fitness.

Love this gym! Came here 2 years ago for a 30 day trial with my wife and have been here since…read more This cozy place has everything you need: dumbbells up to 100lbs, barbells, cable set ups, medicine balls, kettlebells, plate loaded machines, and stack based machines. There is ample cardio equipment as well such as ellipticals, stair climbers, hand bikes, cycling machines, etc. The owner Phil is very knowledgeable and treats you like family. His knowledge of excercise science is second to none. He runs a tight ship and any trouble makers will not be allowed to return. The complete lack of riff raff and friendly members make this an ideal gym for the professional. There is never a wait for a machine or bench. Staff is friendly and professional. Has a parking lot which is nice. I can't recommend this place enough.
