This is definitely not a drink you want to do half sweetened on, so I ended up asking the girl to remake it fully sweetened (props to her). However, even in its unadulterated state, the strawberry flavor was a bit sour and the overall feeling was that the drink was interesting, but neither of us would get it again. -Green Tea Creama Let me just say, I really like 85degrees Sea Salt Jasmine Green Tea, and was foolishly hoping this would be similar, what with the salt and all. I wanted to try this place because I saw that it has really good reviews and it's usually packed. It lived up to the hype! I was here with my friend today and there was nobody there so the service was really fast. I ordered the classic milk tea after the lady working there told me that it was one of the most popular. I was recently introduced to bubble tea so I don't know much about the right texture for the pearls or flavor, but it was just amazing!!! I have been to other places and I could tell the difference. On a trip to Berkeley with my friends we decided to stop by Sharetea, seeing as all my friends love bubble tea. Now for me, ive never been the biggest fan of tapioca or the milk teas I would just order a smoothie without pearls - but my outlook has completely changed. I ordered an iced black milk tea with pearls(30% ice/sweetness) and it was the most delicious thing in the world. I HIGHLY recommend if you are in the area! They did put quit a lot of pearls so it was annoying to chew so much, but thats just a personal opinion. To me its a little pricy but it is worth it! The decor is clean and modern which is refreshing. They also open the floor to ceiling windows at the front of the store which I enjoyed since it was scorching hot that day. I've been drinking bubble tea since it was invented in Taiwan, later worked at the first boba shop in Michigan back in high school so I know a thing or two about milk tea! Sharetea's tea is one of the best teas I've ever had. I've gone to Taiwan to find and buy the best teas they have to offer from their pristine mountains and I feel like Sharetea definitely goes out of their way to use the best teas. Location on campus can't be any more convenient. Plus their service is always super fast. I just wish they had more tables sometimes but there are plenty of places to go and chill. Been a long time fan of Share Tea :) This one in particular is better than the San Francisco one and Union city one. They're fast and accurate and customer service is usually top notch! Their boba is always the right texture and never hard. Not too sweet either! Creama is also super bomb and unique! This is a must try place! This is my go to boba tea place! I'm here at least once a week between classes. Very convenient location right across from lower Sproul. I love that there are vegan milk options including almond and oat! My favorite is the high mountain milk tea with boba, and if it's cold out, I just get it hot! I always bring my reusable bumbler cup + straw, and they always fill it to the brim. Definitely bring your own! Very efficient, fast, and friendly service! I like that they closed at 11 PM because the Sharetea in Concord closes earlier. Went here after a concert because I was craving boba. I was sad that they didn't have mini pearls. Their cups said teaone on them. I like the cup my boyfriend had for his mango ice blended drink. I liked the furniture they had. So I've had boba at many other places, far better than what I got here. 1. I ordered mango milk tea, but when I got it, there was mango jelly (not like jello jelly, but like mango slime) mixed in with the boba at the bottom. It tasted like perfume and was pretty gross. I just thought that flavor maybe wasn't good, so I ordered and paid for another one. 2. I asked for green milk tea (I didn't realize there was a difference between matcha green and jasmine green). The guy at the register didn't ask me which one I meant, and assumed jasmine. So I had already bought 2 drinks, the first of which sucked and the second was the wrong one. When I got my drink I told the guy at the register I ordered green milk tea, and he gave me attitude saying "yeah that's what you said. But matcha and jasmine green tea are different." But if I didn't specify which one I wanted, why not just ask me to clarify instead of giving me attitude for not realizing there was a difference?? So I told him "look I just paid for 2 drinks.. the first one was gross and this one isn't the one I wanted.." so they made me a matcha green milk tea drink. Let me just say I've had a LOT of matcha green milk tea and this was by far the worst. It was bitter, concentrated, and I honestly couldn't take more than 2 sips of it before throwing it out. A New Challenger Has Appeared! (Think Super Smash :P) I will never understand why Berkeley is obsessed with opening up boba shops. Like the market is ridiculously saturated. Example: Purple Kow, Tea Fever, Quickly, Lotus House, Moccachino/Double Rainbow/Whatever It Is Called Now, UCafe, Sheng Kee, Sweethearts...Okay, you get the point. But really though, a new challenger has appeared in the fight for Boba King of Berkeley. From what I know and have heard of others is that Share Tea is a bubble milk tea chain that started in Taiwan in 1992. Since then, they gained popularity and now has stores internationally, bringing us a small boba shop in Berkeley, California. DISCLAIMER: I will not be writing anything about service because honestly, they sucked. But that is due to the promotional Buy One, Get One (BOGO) event that drives poor college students who are boba crazy....even crazier, so I will withhold comments until further visits. Instead, I will write about how Sharetea is a great addition, despite all of the other places. Walk right in and you find that the layout is very spacious and open and the store has a sleek modern feel compared to the previous store, Cafe Espresso Experience. Because of the BOGO deal and a half hour wait due to the craziness, I decided to try multiple things, with the help of my girlfriend. We got the Hokkaido Pearl Milk Tea, Mango Green Tea and QQ Happy Family Milk Tea. The Hokkaido Milk Tea had a strange toffee flavor that I am not accustomed to, but I neither disliked nor liked it. The Mango Green Tea was fruity and refreshing in part to using a form of mango puree as opposed to whole fruit. My favorite was the QQ Happy Family Milk Tea, described on their menu as: "All the goodness in one drink gives you ultimate fulfillment". True to its word, I was fulfilled. It was an interesting drink as it gives you a handful of toppings such as boba, grass jelly, pudding and lychee jelly. Its truly unique and a surprise as you never know what jelly you will eat. I will note that the prices are relatively fair, ranging from $3-4, considering the quality and amount given (almost twice as much). I will definitely be back for more! Hopefully the service will improve by then. TIP: A Reward Card (despite its awkward shape, but hey, it has a menu on it) is more efficient towards getting a Free Drink over the Five Stars Card they offer if you are only going to use it for Sharetea. read more

Taiwan is the motherland of all things boba, and if Sharetea is Taipei's #1 boba place, then who am I to argue with the boba gods? That's what I told myself when I took a calculated risk and bought the $60 gift card for $50, and I haven't been disappointed yet. In Berkeley's shortage of boba places near campus, Sharetea sets itself apart in quality compared to the other six tapioca places. It's pricier, but they have fruit teas (like Asha's but without the walk) and the tapioca actually has the right consistency. Plus, the tall cups are a lot easier to hold than those chubby cups. The strawberry black tea creama is perfect for people who like fruit teas served with actual pulp. The sweetness doesn't overpower the tea flavor and balances well with the sea salt creama. I like to mix the cream in right with the tea, but for those who wish to sip the frothy cream on its own, there's a saw thingamajigger that lets you make a small incision into the cover so you can do so. For traditional milk teas, I'd recommend the Okinawa (caramel-like) milk tea but beware! You can't reduce the sugar in this drink since it's already mixed in with the Okinawa tea powder. Sharetea doesn't have a stamp card, but the Five Stars reward program does give you one free drink for every 12 you purchase. read more

Goodbye willpower, hello diabetes: my favorite boba place has arrived in Berkeley, just a minute away from my apartment. Sharetea is the real deal. I had it for the first time about a year ago in Asia, and I've been dreaming about it (among other Taiwanese boba chains) ever since. I even told my family members I need to open a franchise in Berkeley ASAP, but it looks like someone beat me to it. :'( My favorites: Okinawa (can't change the sugar level, but why change a good thing?), Hokkaido, Mango Yakult (I don't think Berkeley has this one yet), and Oolong Milk Tea. I've heard the fresh milk drinks are amazing (in the words of a friend quoting a classic, "shit, that's fresh!") I don't think you can go wrong with any drink here. I ask for 80% or 50% sugar so I feel less bad about myself. Ask for less ice because less ice = more drink. At this point, I have tried everything on the menu and here's my tips. I went literally everyday during dead and finals week at Berkeley and that only speaks to only a little of how much I love sharetea. It's by far the best boba spot (if you check out the other spots they're mostly empty nowadays) whilst here there is a huge line piling up and making it difficult for me to get boba everyday :( I probably will end my undergrad career at Berkeley with diabetes thanks to Sharetea, but they will always have me as a loyal customer. Sharetea's motto of being "Taipei #1" definitely speaks to setting some high expectations. I went on the opening day and they had a line out the door all the way to Wells Fargo next door. Surprisingly, the line moved pretty fast and I was in at 15 minutes. When I saw their menu, I was surprised with tons of options. I haven't seen anything like it since going down to Southern California for their boba. I went with the Okinawa Pearl Milk Tea and the Kiwi Fruit Tea with Ice Jelly. At the discounted BOGO cost, I knew I was getting my money's worth because both were big, tall cups. These are my personal recommendations and options I like the most: (+++) Kiwi fruit tea with ice jelly Some people may disagree, but I honestly think this is one of their best non-milk tea/boba drinks because it's a tart, but refreshing drink. You get slices of kiwi, with a ton of jelly that's fun to drink. It's sweet, cold, and honestly makes any scorching hot day in Berkeley bearable. Ha. Ha. Definitely try this after getting one of their milk teas or if you're less inclined for something new. (+) Okinawa milk tea For this drink, I think they use brown sugar which is why it's unique? Not sure, but its a very sweet drink, pretty much on par with what Purple Kow has, but with less toppings. You can still taste the tea, but it's decent enough on its own. (++) QQ happy family Among all the drinks, this is by far the most authentic because you get all the little toppings. Surprisingly, they go really well. When you take one big sip, you get red beans, jellies, small pearls, big pearls and it mixes with their plain milk tea well. It's only $3.75 and a lot more filling than the other choices if you're getting some of that protein in the beans and yada yada. (+) Strawberry black tea crema So with their cremas, you get this nice cream at the top that you can take one of their provided spoons to scoop out and drink like a top that doesn't mix, but you get two distinct flavors from, or shake it a lot and get this nice looking blend of a smoothie. It tastes like medicine to be honest, not too keen on the whole strawberry syrup and a ton of seeds thing matching itself as a strawberry black tea you would find at Asha. Nonetheless, it's a pretty good drink because you mix in a nice creamy black tea flavor.... with just a hint too much not-too-tasty strawberry flavor. (++) Peach milk tea This is one of their new ones! I actually really like this because I think they put in peach petals or something...? Not sure, but its a really nice new flavor to complement the tea. I did get boba with this and it tasted decent, nothing too stellar. (+) Oreo milk tea Way too sweet. It does not look like the facebook picture. Just imagine milk tea with a ton of crumbled oreos at the bottom. It's not special at all... because you're drinking liquid diabetes as it is, and now you're adding in a ton of creamy sugaryness decadence that are oreo cookies. Overall, DO COME HERE. read more

If you're trying to compare it to the other boba places in the East Bay you would have these places: - T4 in San Leandro - U-Cha in Berkeley - Gong-Cha in Fremont What separate these 4 places is how similar they taste to the boba you get in Taiwan. The oolong pearl milk tea and the Okinawa pearl milk tea were both pretty good. Sharetea's 100% sugar for most drinks is actually on the sweeter side but you can reduce to 80%, 50% ,etc.. if you would like. Less ice is a must. Taro Milk Tea is on the fake side which is good (the real stuff is kind of grainy). I'll admit I like the fake stuff over the real stuff just based on texture. read more

This boba is pretty legit. Came here after dinner on Saturday around 6:30pm and the line was ridic. However, the line moves quicker than you would think and was in and out after 20-25 minutes. I got the Okinawa Pearl Milk Tea which I was told is not as sweet as Hokkaido so that is why I opted for the former. These are roasted I believe so had to try something different at this place. I added lychee jelly and that was a bad decision on my part because pearls and lychee jelly is a weird combo. The jelly made it too damn sweet so I would have opted for just pearls. I tried just the pearl drink and it tasted yummy so dont make my mistake. You cant choose the sweetness level for this particular drink but he let me get 80%. The actual milk tea was really tasty and the same can be said for the pearls and lychee so overall, this is a great boba place. Definitely one of the best in Berkeley. read more

I admit. Sharetea has got me feelin some type of way. First time I came here I had the okinawa pearl milk tea. YUM. But then...I tried their creama teas. I was reluctant to try cremas because I thought it might be too creamy. WRONG. The blend of just a slightly milky taste with the sweet tea makes a combo that....well, makes it addicting. But don't be a noob and order a crema, then poke your straw in and mix it around. That completely defeats the point of it! Use the mini knifes that they have next to where you pick up your drink. Slit a hole on both sides, and enjoy! This way, you get the perfect balance of cream and tea. You're welcome! And yay for rewards cards! read more

Got the Okinawa Pearl Milk Tea ("creamy milk tea with brown sugar taste") with an extra topping of ice cream. It's good stuff. The brown sugar flavor comes out in the tea and the ice cream makes it even more creamy with an additional layer of complexity. Boba is solid, but could be a tiny bit chewier (subjective) and is not as fragrant as Purple Kow's. I also love the decor of the place, but they could use a little bit of AC, but it may just have been stuffy because of all the people for the buy 1 get 1 free grand opening. read more

Fun/cute atmosphere with a confusing menu. I basically felt like I was transported to the mother land. I am standing in a boba shop with cute decor and trying to understand their menu. That is basically me on a typical trip back to the motherland. Except this time the menu was in English, and I still had tons of questions. Here's some info to save you some questions: Okinawa milk tea: they use brown sugar Hokkaido milk tea: they use some kind of toffee/caramel flavor QQ happy family: they put in all the toppings, making it a very chewy experience (red bean, pudding, ice jelly, grass jelly, boba) ice jelly: lime/lemon flavored jello stuff (ai yu) Creama: a salty thick milky foam on top of your drink...you're technically supposed to drink it out of an open top like foam on top of your coffee for the real experience I went with a large group and got to try a bunch of different things. The tea is delicious and I particularly liked my mango milk tea and and the creama fruity teas as well. Also, for those of you who don't love their drinks too sweet, you can specify the sweetness of your teas, as well as ice levels. But, everything only comes in one size...pretty darn big. read more

Sharetea was a solid 4 stars when it first opened. I noticed the quality began to go down after Sharetea was open for a few months, but for the most part Sharetea was still reliably decent. U Cha down the street took away much of Sharetea's buzz, but the one thing that kept me coming back to Sharetea was the Kiwi fruit tea with ice jelly (and boba, for me). Until today. I ordered a Kiwi Fruit Tea with Ice Jelly and Boba, and immediately took it to go. By the time I opened it and began drinking, I immediately noticed that there were several bare lemon/orange seeds in my cup. Best milk tea I've ever had in Berkeley... fresh ingredients, perfect-texture boba, and carefully made. Tried their honey milk tea and taro milk tea, and both were beyond delicious!! In terms of taste, absolutely phenomenal and totally worth the hype. BUT BUT BUT!!! VERY UNHAPPY with customer service and quality control. Three strikes: 1. My drink (hot taro milk tea) came out with the taro on the bottom and frothy milk on top. Fine, but I wanted to mix them to get a more even experience. Asked employee for a stirrer, expecting them to have something like a disposable coffee stirrer for hot drinks. She looked at me like I had grown another head... 2. Instead, she calls over another employee/manager to resolve the problem. What he does is, he takes a boba straw WITH THE WRAPPER STILL ON, from the counter, and dunks it in my cup. Wayyy UNSANITARY, and thin plastic in boiling hot liquids are CARCINOGENIC. Dumbfounded and disgusted beyond words at his lack of common sense. Didn't even know what to say as I watched him ruin my drink. 3. But whatever, I was with a friend in a rush to leave, so I take my contaminated cup and go.
