Summer has definitely shown up during the last few days of July with a heatwave upon us with the sun coming out. The weather heats up there is nothing more essential to refresh by grabbing a beverage on ice. There are many places to grab something to clinch your thirst. Nothing is better on a sunny day as grabbing a bubble tea. There is a place which professionally provides all kinds of flavors of drinks from Taiwan and it's called Taiwan Professional Tea. On another Summer stroll in Telegraph I landed at Taiwan Professional Tea. Inside there is some seating and the party people order on a kiosk. They have lots of drinks not too sweet and some are sour like lemonade like some on my social media feed. They also have matcha for Don Juan de la Matcha . I got the Mango Passion Smoothie . It was not too sweet and it had lots of flavor and hit the spot . A good place to grab a drink rain or shine because the drinks are Type A ( Taipei). Last day of the month and it's "gone" now every social media feed for the end of July photo dump is what is going "on" but this place has tasty tea drinks which has a second name professional and first name "Taiwan" and they also have matcha for the "Don Juan" This place is the place during a heatwave is the answer and that is "unquestionable"they have drinks with fruits and not a "vegetable"when it comes to matcha leave it to the "professional" because Don Juan de la Matcha is nothing "correctable" read more

One of my favorite milk tea chains in the Bay Area, always consistent. My favorite is their TGY Milk Tea which has great tea flavor, but they also have a huge variety of other choices, including seasonal ones. Small spot with only a little seating, but it's quick and easy to order from their self service kiosks. read more

Was visiting the campus and needed to have our boa fix. Stopped by TP Tea, our campus favorite when we were going to college. The shop was relatively empty, and we were able to order from the many tablets that were available. The drinks were out within minutes. I ordered a milk tea with boba, 30% sweet, less ice. It came out as expected. Milk tea here is delicious, and the toppings are soft and chewy and still sweet. I was able to walk all the way to the Campanile with it, and it still tasted fine and not watered down. The tables in here are pretty small, so I wouldn't recommend staying around with your drinks, but as long as you're not in that camp, it's a solid place for boba in Berkeley at a price point that is not too bad given the other options. read more

I had TP Tea bookmarked on Yelp for a while and finally had a chance to try it this afternoon. I got the TGY Family Milk Tea (50% sweet, no ice), which comes with boba, coffee jelly, and egg pudding. The egg pudding was my favorite but all were great. With the inclusion of toppings, I'd get 30% sweet next time. Ordering on the kiosks is easy - card only. Despite visiting ~3pm, my drink was ready within a few mins of ordering. The menu screens changing made reviewing the menu difficult but once I got to the counter, I better could review the menu on the kiosk. Parking is a bit difficult in this area - street parking is a bit hit or miss here, but there is a parking garage not too far away. They are not as busy as they once were, probably because of the many new boba shops in the vicinity now. They still take awhile to make drinks though. I used to get their Premium Green Tea Latte with boba, but I do not see it on the menu, so I get their Jasmine Green Fresh Milk Tea with boba now. I am not sure if it is the same drink, as it looks the same and tastes similar, but it tastes a bit more of tea. I have noticed their quality has gone down a bit though compared to before. read more

Cute little boba shop tucked away in Berkeley, in the Telegraph district, close to several popular food joints. Parking is super convenient with several reasonably priced garages and plenty of cheap street parking. This place has a small seating area with a few tables and pickup options available. Ordering is efficient through a kiosk and fulfilled quickly. We ordered a matcha yuzu tea, a strawberry pudding with boba, a taro tea and a signature black tea with boba. All were excellent. They allowed for customizing the ice and sugar levels for all drinks. My favorites were the matcha yuzu and the signature black tea. The matcha yuzu was light, extremely fresh and citrusy. The black tea was strong and very high quality. The strawberry one was on the sweeter side so opting for a lower sugar level is a good idea. The taro one had an overpowering taro flavor. All in all, highly recommend this for a post meal dessert if you're in the area! read more

I was a bit skeptical at first because I didn't know what "velvet" meant, but I liked it (more of a richer milk/flavor than regular milk tea). read more

TP is absolutely solid. The variety of drinks is excellent. Their mix-ins have great texture. I wonder if they are made in-house. I don't know if they have that cheese cloud thing that some other places have, but I never noticed it on the menu. That is a good thing. I don't understand how people would want that cheesy smell in their drinks. It's like those sushi roll places that add ripe papaya into their rolls. Revolting when cross-contamination happens on something I ordered. They have a few brulee drinks that are amazing. Better brulee than other tea places. There's just enough burnt-sugar sweetness that goes well with not just the other ingredients in the drink but most of the add-ins. Watch out for the different terminals. There is a third-party payment processing touch-screen terminal by the door. Prices are actually different there than at the counter. I wish I knew that before using that terminal. read more

Haven't been to this TP Tea location in years! Used to come here weekly while I was in school. I'm glad to see that they are still doing well and in the same spot. When you enter, there are 3-4 different self order stations which is great because there was no wait/line! If you prefer ordering from a real person, it's a bit hard to get their attention but if you're lucky and can waive someone over they're happy to help. I ordered the Boba Fresh Milk Tornado with 50% sweetness for $6.25. I was really craving a matcha tornado but they only had the fresh milk and Thai tea tornados. Considering that it was only boba pearls, tornado (custard/cream), milk, and ice it was actually very good. Super refreshing, the custard went very well with the milk and perfectly cooked boba pearls. The pearls were bouncy and didn't stick to your teeth, they were also not over saturated in sugar either. I do have to say that the store itself was uncomfortably hot and humid. I'm not sure what was going on with the ventilation. They even had one of the front doors propped open and it felt like a completely different climate inside the store. Hopefully that gets fixed soon. read more

The only thing keeping it from a perfect 5 stars is the flavor execution--while good, the taste could be a bit better. TP Tea is one of my favorite boba places in Berkeley. I've tried many of the drinks on their menu, but my favorites are the lychee berry drink and strawberry milk tea. Their boba is consistently good and has a nice texture, and the strawberry and lychee flavors are a perfect pairing that not a lot of boba places have. The fruit tastes really fresh and not artificial or overly syrupy. The workers are pretty fast, and there's a few seats inside. Honestly, the lychee cube drink is what made TP Tea stand out for me...not just among the dozens of boba spots in Berkeley, but out of the hundreds I've tried in my life. I had never seen anything quite like it. It wasn't like a lychee jelly topping at all. The texture was genuinely unique. My friend and I were both going at least once a week for it. Sometimes I be ordering it 2-3 times a week. Sadly, it's been discontinued, which is a huge bummer. I've seen it sell out on Snack Pass before, so I assumed it was popular...but then again whenever they're sold out of it for some reason it would show up on the order tablet in person. I really hope they bring it back, even as a limited return. Without it, I don't have much reason to come as often, though since it's close by I'll probably still stop in for a boba fix occasionally. For what it's worth, the QQ jelly drink is good if you're into something sweet and loaded with toppings. I do appreciate that you can order on Snack Pass because the shop gets crowded and it's a small space. The one thing that gets a little confusing is the pickup area and ordering iPad being right next to each other, so it's not always clear who should be where. The brown sugar milk tea with boba was honestly way too sweet and just because the straws are the same height as the cup when provided a dome lid (as they do with the brown sugar MT), it makes the drinking experience very dissatisfying. I've been to multiple locations, and each of them have been consistent in terms of taste, service, and quality. When you walk in, there's always a strong tea and brown sugar aroma that fills the room. Everyone that I brought here has always commented how good this place smells and that should tell you something LOL. Their tea is strong and I love that their drinks aren't too milky. I always get the tie guan yin milk tea with 80% sweetness with their boba and QQ noodles - you must try this if you like chewy textures! This time around, I tried their Taro drink with oat milk at 50% and with Boba, and it was the perfect amount of sweetness and texture. Next time you're in the area, please give this a try. TP TEA is probably my favorite classic boba shop I've been to in the US. This location is in Berkeley's Southside and is one of the most popular boba shops in Berkeley. Most people I know order on the Snackpass app ahead of time and pick up their order once they get there, but ordering on their kiosks is fast + easy as well. My favorite drinks to get from TPT are their Tie Guan Yin Milk Tea or Tie Guan Yin Oolong Latte (tie guan yin = roasted oolong), Strawberry Milk Tea, and Boba Mango Milk Tea! Their roasted oolong is delicious and their fruit milk teas are the best I've had (they have more of a smoothie texture though so do keep that in mind). Topping wise, I really like their QQ Noodles - which are essentially boba in short noodle ish form - and Tea Jelly, but you can't go wrong with their traditional boba either. This store has a few tables and seats of you want to come here to catch up with friends, but it is limited. All in all, amazing boba spot to stop by in Berkeley! read more

With so many boba spots in Berkeley, TP Tea is amongst one of the more popular ones. The shop has been around for a while but it was the first time my cousin and I went. Inside the shop is on the smaller end. There are several tables for two scattered and depending on the time of day it could be full or empty. Ordering is done via kiosk or online and drinks come out relatively fast. Most customers take their drinks to go like we did. Service interaction is pretty nonexistent as the workers just make the drinks. The boba shop has a pretty expansive menu of teas and fruit teas plus snacks. My cousin enjoyed her drink and I got a Mango Latte with Oat Milk. There was a fixed sweetness and ice level and the drink was super duper sweet. It tasted like mango purée and juice with a splash of oat milk and even mixing it didn't dilute the sweetness level. There also wasn't too much boba included. For paying a lot for it, I didn't find it worth it. Also, a bummer is that dairy alternatives are strictly for lattes, matcha, coffee, and smoothies--not milk teas or specialty drinks. With the variety of drinks, I can see why TP Tea is popular. I probably won't frequent as much due to the limited options of alternatives and adjustments. They're sandwiches between other shops off Telegraph with street and garage parking nearby. read more

As a Thai tea lover, trust me on this one. Boba Texture: Overcooked, no chew, no bounce. If you like your boba al dente, this isn't it. Vibes & Service: The shop itself is really nice inside, and they have a cool system that tells you how long your order will take (which was great because we waited over 20 minutes). No option to adjust sweetness unfortunately and just wasn't a fan of QQ noodles. Came back a few days later and got the mango passion smoothie with boba and lychee jelly. It is what you expect from a boba establishment set in a downtown area Service: we found the self ordering kiosk to be very efficient. We wanted to note that we waited around 10 minutes for our drinks at a very big rush hour which was very reasonable. Food: We ordered strawberry milk tea with boba and golden osmanthus aiyu lemonade. The strawberry milk tea is the best strawberry milk tea we have every had. The sweetness was perfectly balanced and the strawberry flavor was not artificial. Perfect is an understatement. The boba also had an amazing texture that worked so well with the drink. The golden osmanthus aiyu was also equally delicious in its own right. The lemonade flavor mixed in with the osmanthus tea had a perfect balance of citrus and floral that left my mouth wanting more with each sip. The jelly had a beautifully aromatic tea flavor that fit the drink once again perfectly. We love TP tea and would highly recommend for anyone looking for a good boba spot. read more

Either I always come during off hours or this place has got their process down really well (even amidst being on a college campus), because I've never had to wait more than 5-10 minutes (versus over an hour at some of the other locations)... so this location is my favorite! Whenever we are in the area, you know we're getting TP Tea.
