Before I begin, I notice nothing but positive reviews so I will definitely give it a 2nd chance. But my review now is based on a take out order I made other day. 2 orders of chicken tikka: tasty and good. 1 order of garlic naan: naan was thinner than a normal naan but other than that it tasted good. 2 order of fish pakora: small quantity in each order and about a 1/3rd of the order was crumbs and just seasoning mixed together with no actual fish. Order also didn't come with Any chutny or sauce which I didn't notice till I got home 1 order of chilli chicken: not sure if they misheard the order or if this is the way they cook it here? But it was not chilli chicken, it was extra oily and water, tasted like soy sauce. And chicken pieces were too large. Normally pieces should be bite size but these were longer like chicken tender pieces. Lastly, it is too pricey for a location in lathrop. The prices are more consistent with a restaurant in San Francisco. Wanted to order some tandoori chicken but it costs $12 for 4 pieces. Thats $3 a piece of chicken! Wayyyy too expensive. I am so happy to finally have an Indian Restaurant near home. Portions were good, good prices, and food was very fresh and yummy. The only thing I wish is that they add more to their drink selection. They only offer coke/seven up and a mango yogurt drink. I actually had their mango yogurt drink and it was delicious, however I was very thirsty and soda was not in my list of wants. Please add some Mint/cucumber fresh drinks (I've had them at other Indian restaurants out of the area) or other non dairy refreshing drinks. Also I think because the place is fairly new it was missing some needed decorations to add to the ambiance; I also don't believe there was any light music playing either, something I personally would of liked. All I can say is about time Lathrop got an Indian Restaurant. I walked in and the smells that greeted you where very pleasing. I ordered the tandoori chicken, the black bean dahl, The lamb, and rice. I got my order to go as I had been out shopping and just wanted to get home and relax. There was more then enough food for two. In fact I ate the rest for lunch the next day. When we moved out this way we were pretty bummed we could not find the quality nor the selection out here and we're getting tired of our usual burger or sandwich standbys. Went back yesterday to order the tandoori chicken and chicken kebab and gulab jamun. All for pick up. The chicken kabob serving was unsatisfying. The gulab jamun was not anything like we ordered the first time. It was dry and the sauce had already seeped all the way inside that the milky color has been caramelized. This is my very first experience with Indian food, so you may think this is will be a biased review, but I will disagree. I had a preconception of what indian food tastes and smells like; in essence, a prejudice. Having heard stories of bad experiences over the years, I was immediately set at ease when I walked in to a clean and welcoming atmosphere. Not much decor to speak of, but colorful and minimal. I could tell the experience is focused on the food. After being greeted by the gentleman, I sat down at the table with my brother and sister-in-law. Immediately, I was lost in the menu. There is so much variety, so I would be relying on the recommendations of the others. To drink, I tried the "mango lassi" for the first time. While it may sound foreign, it is actually a simple mango smoothie with yogurt and it is delicious. What first struck me about the drink is that it tastes "fresh", as if you were literally biting into a mango. The flavor expresses itself literally, but adds a creamy aftertaste. It is also very thick. I was a little worried I would not have enough of an appetite to finish the coming meal because the drink was so satisfying. Be warned, do not down the drink all at once. I opted to take small sips. I can't remember the name of anything I ate until I return. I remember having an appetizer that was essentially two large crunchy things filled with what I could only describe as something with the consistency of mashed potatoes. I'm sure the ingredients are something totally different. The flavors were everywhere. Everything outside and inside had so many combinations of flavors. The sauces themselves were fascinating. There was tamarind sauce I was very happy to try (I'm a sucker for sweet things), and another sauce that tastes like the very definition of "green". Another appetizer we had was also really interesting. When I bit into this, the closest thing I could think of for a description is a cross between the cup of noodles chicken flavor and crisscut fry. The inside was completely different. Already, I can tell that indian food has so much depth. It is very hard to describe each flavor. For my main course, I was a little skeptical. I am not a fan of cottage cheese, but it was recommended for me from the vegetarian portion of the menu. Essentially, they prepare it in a way that it becomes like tofu. It is served in a sea of sauce and vegetables. The cottage cheese does not taste like it usually does. Instead these cheese cubes have a smoky flavor to them, in addition to the rich sauce it is smothered in. I later find out the sauce has a kick to it, but the lassi helped me cool things down. For dessert, we had this pudding-type thing. It was like tapioca pudding, but with a much more aromatic and delicate flavor and with nuts instead of tapioca. My brother, a baker, took note of the saffron they garnish the dessert with. I was totally unaware, but this is an expensive ingredient. It shows the restaurant's dedication to small things we may take for granted. All in all, I don't think I could have gone to a better place for a first experience with indian food. In fact, I've been so pleased that I couldn't stop recommending it to friends in totally unrelated conversations. I'll be back soon with my parents who have also never had indian before, just to see the look on their faces. My one concern is that I may have unwittingly become spoiled as far as indian food in the valley goes. read more

Went there with so many expectation. It looks like they designed it for togo only. We were the only dine in customer. We ordered mango lassi right away our children didn't have that much interest on it so i tasted it and the yogurt i think they used the old one may be pretty bad. It was sour on taste i asked my other friend to confirm it. I even told them but they just say sorry about that. The tandoori looks like it was brought from microwave oven all watery. The mint chutney was smelly so we concluded that the yogurt for the batch of mint chutney and mango lassi is same and sour. Customer service was very bad. No water to offer. We have buy a water if we want to drink some. I just ordered 2 bottle of water which they didn't charge. They charge spur mango lassi for 5.99. I didn't go through the check but it seems like they over charged me. I came home total it and it never was the same it was like $20 over. I don't like this area and when i visit there i will never ever goto this place again. Next time i will be very sensitive about peoples reviews. Best Indian food in the area. A little spicier than most places (in a good way) with lots of complexity in the flavors. Even a simple food like their lentil dal had very nice flavors. This place is very good. The place is friendly and very clean plus there is plenty of room for my husbands wheelchair. For an appetizer we had veggie pakora, very yummy . I had the chili paneer, hot, and it was nice and hot just how I love it. My husband had butter chicken which he thought was great his was mild just the way he can handle it lol. For the past two years, we headed to Stockton for Indian food. Well I can tell you that we will be going to Stockton A LOT LESS because of Rasoi in Lathrop.
