Every interaction has been very pleasant so far! The volunteer dog walkers have been great! One time I got lazy and flagged someone down asking if they'd be able to take a bag of pet supply donations. They happily accepted helped me out! If you visit their front office they have some items available to purchase for a suggested donation. They have lots of good condition leashes, dog doors, treats, birthday pup pies, etc. I've seen dog ramps and other things. It's worth a shot to swing by if you don't have any hang ups about gentle used goods. I was able to get a new unopened boxed pup pie and four bags of bark box treats for $3 each! And it goes to a good cause too! They even have some non-pet items like artwork from local artists! I also recommend checking out their auctions! You could potentially get a very good deal. They often have winery donations. I got an introductory paragliding lesson voucher worth $250 for only $120! Sometimes they have even bigger prizes like a week long timeshare stay in Hawaii! And of course it's a great cause. They do so much work to help the animals of Vallejo! I've never seen as many strays dogs as I have when I lived in Vallejo. I'm sure they're constantly overwhelmed but still maintain a good attitude.

We added our Sons dog, a Shepsky, also adopted from Coppers Dream, to our family, as he was always traveling. Those two dogs spent many years together, always protective of me and of each other on our many hikes. I would periodically send in photos to CD, and always had a friendly reply. Almost like a family. One morning, up in ALanden Quicksilver Park, going up a steep narrow trail, they suddenly half turned and let rip with ferocious barks. A cougar came racing down the hill, I guess it wanted us for breakfast. Nope. Their utter ferocity in their barking and stance was one obstacle. The second was Bear Spray. That cougar decided quickly that this would not be a good way to start the day. Those two adopted dogs were Loyal, lovable, Protective, Goofy. Play ball? You bet. They loved swimming, exploring and making friends. My lab lived until she was 15. Our Shepsky passed a year or so before. Coppers Dream has always been professional, friendly and easy to approach. Now, I'm back looking for one more dog. Our young, female GSD is lonely without her big sister and big brother..

Rescuing and adopting dogs is very hard and very expensive work, since many dogs who were neglected or abused require a lot of love, medical care, and training. Please take any 'negative' reviews with a big grain of salt. All of us who have to deal with the public understand how unreasonable and uncharitable some people can be. This is a truly extraordinary woman who makes great sacrifices to rescue and place dogs in the best possible homes. It's an uphill battle with so many people allowing their dogs to breed and dumping them on rescue. And with some adopters/lookers who can be disrespectful of the process around placing dogs. Very few of us could do this work day in and day out with no reward other than seeing dogs go to the right guardians. Cats and kittens have an adoption fee of $100. If you're looking for dogs, they don't bring them on site. Instead, they're all at a foster house in Brentwood. Man, I've never seen so many dogs in one place! Small and big dogs alike! You can tell they're well taken cared of at Joy's house. Usually you can just sit there, observe all their personalities, and pick from there. I'm sure one will steal your heart like my Wyatt has. PJ McCoskey at Fuzzy Butt Rescue is the angriest, most unhelpful and unprofessional person ever. We…read moreadopted 2 male, neutered American shorthair cats. When I doubled back months after adoption with the female volunteer about PJ's awful demeanor, she commented that he has anger issues towards women and had to cut him off herself months prior. We did not receive any medical records for our cats including any microchip information. We were never told that one of our cats was extremely sick with respiratory issues when Fuzzy Butt Rescue first obtained them (I found this out 1.5 yrs into ownership after issues had already arose). We were never told that male, neutered cats are prone to urinary tract infections or we would have adopted female cats; I am a solo mom with 100% of everything for my child so my plate is full as is. We were never told that a key piece of healthy lifestyle for male, neutered cats in preventing UTIs is room to run around before my 10-yo son and I brought them home to our 700 sq ft condo. When confronted with health issues with our pets, PJ refused to make any effort to help us get them care. He was insulting and called me "cheap" for not being willing to spend thousands of dollars on testing despite that I took our cat to 2 emergency clinic visits after working hours the first of which was around midnight before a big job I had booked for the next day. He said he would take them back vs actually helping us to resolve the issue. Our cat's UTI was resolved with a $10 homeopathic product on Amazon that has over 10K reviews and a 4.4 star rating. He called that product "a hoax" but it worked in ONE day once I had time to stay home with the cat and treat him. PJ insulted me for even thinking of trying the homeopathic product vs agreeing to thousands of dollars of testing as a first resort. This guy is the absolute worst. If you want a pleasant and professional pet adoption process, go somewhere that has built a documented reputation in that vein which provides the necessary medical history on adoption (I wasn't aware there was any or I would have asked!). It's March 2023 and I'm looking at our cat's 9 page vet record now in after we got them in Feb 2021 and am shaking my head. This cat has major health problems. I had 2 cats as a child for almost 20 yrs with none of these issues. My son was crying in his sleep last night with a nightmare about losing our cat. Screw you and your judgment and negligence, PJ.

Please explain to your child you do not value the lives and well being of your animals and I think he'll understand our decision too." Bad experience at this place, Avoid unless you want to deal with mean people. I also agree that they are withholding the medical history of the cats. My husband thought the cat seemed sick. I thought he was just bored and depressed in the cage, but I saw later on the facebook page that this bunch of cats all had extensive medical issues. Recently, the Concord location didn't have the smaller bag of my dog's regular food, so I decided to try a different formula from the same brand. Unfortunately, my dog wanted nothing to do with it. I stopped by this location hoping they might have what I was looking for, and that's when I met Brandi. She was absolutely incredible! Even though they didn't have my dog's regular food in stock, she took the time to help me explore other high-quality options and recommended products that might encourage my picky pup to eat. The biggest surprise was learning that if my dog didn't like the food, I could return it for store credit. I had no idea this was your policy! Neither the Pleasant Hill nor Concord locations had ever mentioned it, even when the Concord team knew I was hesitant about trying a new formula. Because of Brandi's outstanding customer service, I was able to exchange the food my dog wouldn't eat and bring home something different. As soon as we got home, my dog happily ate some right out of my hand, so I'm feeling very optimistic! I also brought my blue nose pit bull with me, and Brandi was so kind and patient with her. My dog was a little overwhelmed by all the exciting smells, but Brandi kept her happy with treats and made her feel comfortable while we talked. Brandi truly went above and beyond.
