That said, when my dog is actually groomed, the staff does a great job. They're gentle, patient and clearly caring, and my dog genuinely enjoys being there. If the appointment scheduling and follow-up were more reliable, the experience would be much better overall.

Never coming back to this location. I'll never give this location a chance anymore…read more I booked a grooming appointment online last night for my medium poodle for today--the system showed availabilitIES, as it always does. The groomer called at 9:09 AM to cancel today, claiming she didn't have time and told me I shouldn't book last-minute for a dog her size or online. Minutes later at 9:24 AM, I received automated text saying they were "excited to see" my dog. I have been taking my dog to Petco for three years, and I always handle her grooming and vet appointments online. I am also a vital member and I have never heard about NOT to book last minute or NOT to book online because of my dog is a medium poodle. This location, however, consistently cancels on us whenever a full bath and haircut are involved--they only kept an appointment back in April because it was bath-only. They've made it clear they just don't want to work with poodles because of the extra effort required, despite the fact that I always add upgraded services and tip generously. Save yourself the hassle. I'll gladly drive a bit further to the Fairfield or Vacaville Petco locations from now on. They always welcome my dog and treat her like family.

Today was my first visit to this Pet Food Express location, and it was such a wonderful experience!…read more I discovered a few months ago, while visiting the Pleasant Hill store, that Pet Food Express carries my dog's food. Since moving to the Bay Area a year ago, I've been ordering it online, so I'm still learning which stores carry what. Recently, the Concord location didn't have the smaller bag of my dog's regular food, so I decided to try a different formula from the same brand. Unfortunately, my dog wanted nothing to do with it. I stopped by this location hoping they might have what I was looking for, and that's when I met Brandi. She was absolutely incredible! Even though they didn't have my dog's regular food in stock, she took the time to help me explore other high-quality options and recommended products that might encourage my picky pup to eat. The biggest surprise was learning that if my dog didn't like the food, I could return it for store credit. I had no idea this was your policy! Neither the Pleasant Hill nor Concord locations had ever mentioned it, even when the Concord team knew I was hesitant about trying a new formula. Because of Brandi's outstanding customer service, I was able to exchange the food my dog wouldn't eat and bring home something different. As soon as we got home, my dog happily ate some right out of my hand, so I'm feeling very optimistic! I also brought my blue nose pit bull with me, and Brandi was so kind and patient with her. My dog was a little overwhelmed by all the exciting smells, but Brandi kept her happy with treats and made her feel comfortable while we talked. Brandi truly went above and beyond. She was knowledgeable, patient, compassionate, and genuinely cared about helping both me and my dog. Customer service like hers is rare these days, and she made me feel like a valued customer. Thank you so much, Brandi! You've definitely earned a loyal customer.

Granted I was buying a super heavy Blackstone and couldn't have lifted it by myself even if I had had to! My family and I of course found several other things to buy as well while we were there. The prices are comparable or lower to anywhere else . If you have pets, an outdoor enthusiast, or somebody who just likes to cook you will undoubtedly find more than a few things to take home with you. And like I said before the employees are all so friendly and helpful it definitely makes you want to come back.

My one star rating doesn't go to the store in general but to my experience in it…read more I purchased several birds here throughout the years. This time, I purchased a bunch of birds including baby ducks as usual, but when I got home, I realized that one of the ducks was crippled. It's got a twisted, malformed leg and it's limping. You would have thought "then go return it and get a new one, or go get your money back" I thought the same, in fact I did. You know what they said? Sorry we can't take responsibility for that. If you pay full price for something, you expect the best quality. If you buy a defective product of any kind, it would only make sense that they would refund you and take it back, or at least replace the product to a non-defective one. They did none of that. "Sorry, we don't take them back". I didn't pay full price to be stuck with your defective inventory. It's crazy how 100 good experiences can all collapse to the ground with a single bad experience. All of a sudden, the store doesn't leave a good impression in me. I don't just buy animals for the heck of having them. I also breed them, and good genes are key.
