We recently ordered catering from Rawal Kabob for an Indian party of 100 people. In my first visit to them, the owners sat with me to understand the type of food we really wanted. We wanted bengali fish in a specific way and mutton and other stuff. They went out of their way to prepare those dishes and even fed us free to taste it before confirming. AMAZING SERVICE ! When the food was delivered on the party day, everyone loved the food. It was not spicy like typical indian restaurant food. The Bengali style fish they made was a super hit in the party. This place was a recommendation from a good friend who has been going there for years. Maybe a decade =) we were a party of 3 and ordered the double order of lamb karahi and a chicken kabob with a side of chick peas. Definitely recommend the karahi!!! We ordered it medium spicy which was the perfect combination of all the flavors and spices without it being too spicy for our taste buds. The karahi is kind of like a stew but dryer. Absolutely delicious with the bread. Make sure you sop up the sauce with the bread. That's a must. The chicken was very moist, the rice was mediocre. Personally wished the salad portion was a bit bigger instead of two bites worth. Despite the size, the tomatoes and lettuce was fresh. Another personal opinion of why I'm not giving a 5 Star is the materials being used is foam. Would have loved to eat there and support the place without destroying the environment while I'm there. I work in the area and go out for lunch nearly every day. During the winter, Rawal Kabob was a near-weekly necessity to warm us up on a cold, dreary day. I typically ordered the lamb special, and my coworkers typically got the boneless chicken. Combined with the rice, chickpeas, and bread, this was quite a wonderful filling meal. Recently they changed the way they prepare their chickpea stew. They claimed to have made no changes, but there were definite differences. I will have to try it again, but it turned us off for a little while. Now that it's Spring, this is not really the "kabob weather", but next rainy day we'll try it again. 3.5 stars for something that was once awesome but now has faltered. read more

I often get the vegetarian lunch special. Its plentiful, very tasty (although sometimes a little oily), and a pretty good value. The meat here is also quite tasty. They could wipe down the tables more often, but all said this is definitely a great alternative to all the fast food crap that is around. I recommend. read more

I initially went there a few years ago, but the food wasn't that good so I stopped going there. After recommendation from friends who told me that it's now under new management and food quality has improved, I went there over the weekend and food was amazingly great. I have been to a lot of kabob places all over NOVA and this place is by far the best! the sauce is amazing and the bread is think and big, also the chicken (boneless) kabob is made very well. i read the other reviews and yes this place is not fancy and if you want extra sauce (which i get) you have to ask more then once to get it through their heads that YES i want more sauce! i have been there so much they just give me the sauce but sometimes i have to fight for it. read more

Was in the shopping center to use the coin laundry and decided to take some food home. Always in the mood to try a new kabob place and saw Rawal Kabob, decided to give it a try. Ordered the tandoori chicken and was not disappointed. Perfectly seasoned and cooked with a hearty compliment of rice, naan bread, seasoned chickpeas and a small salad. The naan was fresh and soft, not a piece of toast like other kabob places serve. The salad was crisp, all fresh ingredients. The rice was delicious and went perfectly with a dab of the sauce included with the meal. Will definitely return for more! read more

Really inedible. I got the lamb kabobs and they had the consistency of beef jerky. The veggie sides were just okay so I ate a little bit of the spinach/potato and the chickpeas and threw out the rest.... don't waste your time/money here. Our family has been coming to Rawal for a number of years now. The boneless chicken kabob is my go to and the chick peas are consistently excellent. The boneless chicken Karahi, spicy is also excellent, but we do get it with less ginger. Very good kabob. I had the Kabab koobideh. I would also like to mention that the guy running the shop was very nice. Other folks posted that the tables were not clean. I did not find that to be the case. Just don't go in expecting white table cloths. This is a kabob place, not a hipster wine bar. read more

Most disgusting kabob you can possibly get in NOVA area. That too from a afghan/Pakistani place.....These places usually have delicious kabobs. We ordered Lamb Chops....They came RAW...we had to throw everything away after taking first bite. Their platter supposed to come with yogurt sauce as written on menu...but they didn't serve it with the platter. Bread was OK but I am never returning here again. read more

Terrible service!!! The food was just ok. We went through a variety of advertised items listed on their menu before we found two items they actually had. Large portions, but definitely nothing fantastic. The worst part was the service...absolutely terrible!!! Awful, just awful. Got the $5 gyro sandwich lunch special, had one bite and in the trash it went. The sauce smelled and tasted rancid.

Went to get a lamb gyro from this place not knowing what I was getting myself into. I reached the restaurant a little before noon to beat the lunch crowd. There were only two people waiting for food. I ordered and waited and as others flocked in I was glad I got there a little early. After 30 minutes of waiting and watching everyone else as they get their kabobs I'm finally called up and take my gyro to go. When I get back to work I've never seen such a disgusting gyro, it was formed into a cornucopia with an insane amount of sour cream (yes sour cream, no yogurt sauce or anything). I had ordered it with lamb expecting gyro meat but instead lamb chunks. I needed a fork to proportion out the ingrediants but the bread was to hard and thin and broke through so I ended up eating half of what was one of the worst gyros I've ever had on a plate with a fork and knife. I'll probably save my money for a kabob place a little further from work than Rawal. read more
