We came from Charlotte and saw that Ray Nathan's had good reviews. So we decided to try it. We got the brisket/pork combo. Let's start with with good.. The biscuit you get is really good. Unfortunately all of the meat was dry. You need sauce to eat it because it is so dry. It did have a good smoke flavor but it was too dry to enjoy. We had fried okra and green beans. The fried okra wasn't hot and the green beans were ok. All in all we were totally underwhelmed and probably won't be back. Update- I spoke the the owner and he earned them another star for great customer service. read more

My absolute favorite restaurant! Coming from a family that owned a BBQ restaurant, I am EXTREMELY picky. RayNathan's has taken meat smoking to a new level. Pulled pork, amazing. Sausage links, amazing. Brisket, amazing (and I'm not even a big brisket fan, but I can eat there's all day long!). The yams, green beans, vinegar sauce (all sauces), grandmas apple cake and so much more are delicious and the highest quality! The dining experience is wonderful, but I honor and respect the hard work this team has put into staying afloat during COVID, with curbside pick up and outdoor/online ordering. The Thanksgiving turkey, and the Christmas hams are the absolute best around. I highly recommend this establishment! read more

Went for dinner my daughter,son in law and grand daughter. We just moved to Carolina from Nevada. What a delight. People here are so nice and the food is wonderful. We went to RaybNathan it is amazing. The barbecue is so delicious I will definitely return. We were referred by a friend of my son in law. It's open on a limited basis but check it out. Wanted to try the new Local Bbq place with the wife and kids. You order your food at a counter then go to a table instead of your waitress taking your order at the table. Not a huge fan of this and this caused problems later on. The place looks ok it use to be an old fish camp but they changed the layout a good bit. When we picked a table the waitress came over and took a ticket from our receipt and went back and got our drinks. The food came shortly there after. I ordered the brisket plate, my wife the pork plate, and my boys got chicken tenders and Mac n' cheese. The food comes out on individual metal trays with paper on top of them. No plates, the side came in individual bowls. I ordered yams and Mac n cheese with my brisket. I start off with the yams and they are good. Take a bite of the Mac n cheese it's still pretty hot so I start on the brisket. It looks good and has a nice bark and smoke ring. Definitely hard wood smoked. It came with 3 slices of brisket for $15. Unfortunately the brisket was overdone and just crumbled under the fork. Brisket should be tender but still have some give, but instead of bending in half in the center it just fell apart. It taste alright a bit to much like roast beef though. Better with the bbq sauce but it was nothing special. So on to the Mac n cheese but what is that a hair in it? Yes a long thin black hair do there goes my appetite. I alert the manager and he offers to replace it but no way I'm trying that again. They did comp my meal with out my asking which I think was the proper thing to do. But this brings up another issue. He brings me a receipt showing a new price but this bill has no place to sign or leave a tip like the previous one had. I am not sure what to do now. I don't want to sign the original bill that has a different total than the new total. So I figure I will wait for the waitress who has been a bit spotty since the meal came. My kids are getting restless and one of them needed a diaper change. No changing station in the bathrooms. I couldn't wait any longer so just left a cash tip and left. I understand hair in food can happen but it seems all to often an occurrence. Will not be back. read more

Excellent food made very quickly! Was enough for dinner and we finished it for breakfast! Just as good the next day! Definitely thought about going back for lunch. AMAZING!!! Looked forward to this local spot opening as we live close by. For those farther away, it is worth a trip. Succulent pork and chicken BBQ with excellent sauces. After going to the Lincolnton Apple fest and visiting my mom we decided to grab a late lunch. Mmmm where to go he asks. I say I read so many great reviews for RayNathan's, let's try it. I'm so glad we did! It was phenomenal! I had 1/2 of ribs, sides were the yams and coke slaw, hubby got the brisket with beans and Mac and cheese. Not one bad thing. It was all so delicious. Everything was hot. Sometimes you get sides that are warm not hot. They were hot, not the slaw of course. Tender brisket, tender ribs. Awesome bbq sauces. Don't forget to try the banana pudding. The ambiance and speaking with who I assume the owner is was very nice. There was no wait on Sunday afternoon which was surprising being how much buzz this location has gotten lately. The waitress was a cute little teenager who didn't pay that much attention to us but it's ok because it did start getting busier as our visit continued. I may be dense to have asked for the Catawba crab legs thinking they were actual crab legs, but ended up being 3 average tasting chicken wings that were $14 with 2 sides (good mac n cheese and home made tasting yams). The sides were ok but the meal itself wasn't worth the money. We got a side of brisket and corn, it was a strong meh, on the dry side and yeah there's sauce on the table but I've had moist brisket without having to add sauce (in my own kitchen). The corn had doritos sprinkled on top which was pretty cool and gave the corn a different flavor. My moms chicken was pink to me, she thought it was fine - pretty dry. My grandpa had ribs - he likes the subdrop glaze one better than dry rub, again too dry (he used bbq). My daughter loved her tenders and fries and bbq - there none left. Overall was a strong meh, nothing special, would probably go to a bbq place closer to us before going back. read more

Coming from someone who lived in Texas, this place is incredible and could beat out any place there. We were really surprised that the sides (fries, mac & cheese, apple cake) could stand up on their own, which is not typical of a BBQ place. The signature sauce is amazing and we bought some to take home. Highly, highly recommend. My boyfriend and I visited last Friday. I was a little iffy when I read the reviews (I always check reviews and the menu) only because no people of color had left reviews. I guess it's my honor to be the first. The food was amazing. We were greeted at the door by a nice man who ecosystem the set up. Our waitress was really nice and we were checked on by several people. RayNathans, is not only the best BBQ restaurant in 9 countries, their customer service is above reproach. They absolutely, 100% care about their customers and will do anything to make the experience great. I was at a friend and family function, 20 mins from the restaurant, and when we opened the food, it was obvious that a bag had been forgotten. Upon calling the restaurant, one of the owners said no problem, we are so sorry, what's the address I'm on the way, and sure enough, 20 mins later he arrives at our event with the food, all during Friday night dinner rush...absolutely hands down best service & food!!! read more

Portions are large but I have to admit it wasn't the best bbq I've had but good enough. The sides were better okra fried nice and crisp without being extra greasy. My family went to RayNathan's for dinner last night. I have to say it was amazing. I had heard some mixed reviews, but everything we got was awesome. I had the pork and brisket combo plate with jalapeño cheese grits and fried okra. My brother had the dry rub ribs. My wife had the smoked chicken. You'll be disappointed. The meats are good - we had the brisket and the pork. The sides are absolutely horrible and taste like the tin cans they were poured out of. If you want decent meats, order them to go, and pick up your sides somewhere else or cook your own. The decent meat doesn't save the meal. Guys - you can do better. Charge a couple extra bucks and serve a really good meal. We've been twice, but won't go back. Sadly, I live so close, but pass Ray Nathan's frequently to find good food elsewhere. Tried this for the 1st time last night, little bit of a wait, a little different concept, I'd rather have a waitress or not have one, this concept is you have one but only for drinks so kind of like a buffet, just bring the soda machine out from the back! The food was excellent, definitely will be back, everyone was friendly, the hostess lady was great, everything you could tell was homemade, probably one of the best bbq I've had so far, feel the sides should be a little larger than a condiment cup, but the meat portion makes up for it. Only other suggestion I have for the owners, make more seats. We had to wait about 45 minutes for a 3 seater, when upon entering the area, noticed there is a lot of open wasted floor space that people could sit in and shorten the wait times.
