Heading to another place and saw this. I wanted something like so I ordered a small Spankopita. Well, I should have ordered a large. It was good, but pressing it in a panini pan make the taste different than I am use too. Not crunchy and is typical. The place have a big following and is small, but packed. Counterstaff were so nice. Customers too. There is a mixed of Greek, Italian and even Hungarian Goulash and Beef Stroganoff. Prices are reasonable. Tzatizi doesn't star. read more

Excellent food! Friendly service. Ray was by himself- but killing it. Taking phone orders and cooking. He did great and made us feel welcome! We had the Lamb and Chicken Gyro! Excellent meat and sauce! Wow! Greek salad and baklava were also excellent. We also had their special- Salmon and Shrimp with Pesto Cream sauce Pasta. Woah!! Great quality pasta! Definitely a ma n pa type joint, but great vibes. My kids had the Alfredo pasta. They loved it! read more

Whodathunk you'd find a Mediterranean joint in a tiny Texas town? This place is a hole-in-the-wall counter service style joint with Greek and Italian food and sandwiches. The gyros were not bad. I'm always wary of a gyro shop that doesn't have the meat on a rotisserie, but it didn't appear to be your average frozen gyro slices either. The wife got a gyro platter that came with rice and salad, and we rounded it out with an order of baklava. Service could be a little more inviting...it almost felt like we were intruding when we entered and there was no greeting or small talk, but what matters is the food and that was food. Btw, check their website for the menu...the photos of the menu on yelp didn't show many of their Mediterranean specialties such as the hummus and baklava, making it look more like a sandwich shop. There was a young guy playing guitar and providing excellent entertainment as well. read more

Ate dinner at Ray's last night. Great food in a cozy little diner. Food was delicious and plenty of it. I had the Combo Plate--- lamb, spicy rice, Spinach Pie (can't spell the Mediterranean name) w/Dolmas. So good! My husband had the Beef Stroganoff and commented how tender the meat was. We had the Baklava for dessert. Glad we stopped in; will definitely go back for more. Lots of new things to try as well as some Italian & American standards. read more

Little hole in the wall joint. Food is fresh, tasty and amazing!! Had the Gyro, very full of flavor, tender gyro meat, soft pita bread. Wife had the roast beef sandwich and tomato basil soup. They both were yummy. If your ever around Canyon Lake give this place a try. read more

I recently picked up a "to go" order from Ray's Mediterranean in Canyon Lake. My gyro was the absolute worst I've ever had! The pita bread on the gyro tasted like it was a week old; it was extremely hard as a rock and had no taste. The humus I ordered was supposed to have come with one piece of pita, but instead was a hard stale bread type of pita cracker that comes from a box. All of this cost me $16 and was definitely not worth it! I've been here before and the gyro was OK, but wasn't great. I will not waste my money or time on Ray's Mediterranean again! read more

This place is a mom & pop vibe with delicious home cooked food! I got the chicken, bacon, Gorgonzola salad with a berry vinaigrette and I feel like it changed my life! The chicken was so succulent and tender and packed with flavor, the bacon was crisp and left in strips, the Gorgonzola was delicious, the olives and red onion mixed well! This place is just damn delicious! I also got the dolmas and they were magnificent too! read more

So glad we decided to stop here while on vacation. Ray and his sister treated us very well - we enjoyed the blues music he was playing for his guests. The food was tasty and fresh. We ordered our rice spicy, and the flavor was great. The beef gyro meat was better than we have had at other Greek restaurants. The baklava was also delicious! read more

This restaurant has great food and a big variety. Customer service was great. There was a small mix up and the lady behind the counter ( I think she is one of the owners) went way out of her way to make it correct. You don't get that level of customer service very often any more. You should definitely go check this place out! read more

3 of us had their beef gyros, and, well of course, Baclava. Majorly fresh, flavorful, and just the right amount to be filling. I dream about the toasted muffuletta sandwich Ray's makes. Not even exaggerating--it is the perfect sandwich. We've ordered other things: chicken spinach lasagna, chicken creamora, many of the salads. All delicious, all fresh. But for me it's the muffuletta every time. Y'all.... It was GOOD! We ordered the gyro and the caprice. The lamb gyro is a combination between beef and lamb. It was tender, seasoned very well, and tasted amazing. We ended up adding feta to it which was a great decision. The Caprice was a sandwich, which was surprising but so delicious. You could tell the mozzarella was fresh and it had a layer of pesto that made the sandwich so flavorful. We took some of the lamb from the gyro, since the gyro is loaded, and added it to the sandwich. When I say I would come back just for that, I mean it. The music they played in the restaurant was so fire, I Shazammed every song. It was a great mix of the blues - Think Stevie Ray Vaughan. The restaurant is small and chill, but the owners are beyond sweet. You can see the owners cook everything to order, and the smell of the food fills the restaurant. I love supporting small businesses especially when the food is quality! Sorry for the lack of pictures, the food didn't last long. read more

I was unimpressed. My family and I stopped there on our way to our hotel. The gyro was just lamb, lettuce and red onions. Bland and plain. My daughters got pasta and alfredo and it was so bad they took two bites and wouldn't eat any more. I wouldn't recommend. read more

Giving 3 stars because we didn't try the food... but walked in wasn't really given a warm welcome. Place is a small hole in the wall which we love! I was going to get a gyro but then saw how it was made. The meat was pulled out of a storage container not a food storage container ( clear with white top- you know what I'm talking about) no gloves. No sides to add on to food like fries. Only bagged chips. We left and walked to Lucky's. Was really looking forward to trying but we got turned off. read more

A welcome addition to canyon lake. They had a great gyro and Mediterranean salad. Great tzatziki super fresh vegetables and salad mix. The place was clean and the staff were very nice. Kids shared a small pizza. It was thin crust and the piece I stole was really good. Dressings and sauces seem to be all made in house. Went on the 4th and they were open and quick. We finished our meal with a baklava and it was also very good. I was gonna take a picture of the food but I inhaled it too quickly. read more
