I love this place for their chinese chicken salad although the hubs says I can prolly make it myself which I guess I have to try now! Last time I came it was a bit sour and I swore it off but decided to try it again and was glad I did! It was still delicious and came with a nice little piece of bread. Scarfed the whole thing down. What would have put the salad over the top would have been if they added a little bit of chopped cilantro. Yum! Hubs had a sweet cream filled bun which he enjoyed. Nice spot to chill with the hubs. The wait staff is polite although sitting outside they never checked on us or brought us more refilled water. Not sure if this is an outside thing or not. When I sat inside they constantly refilled our waters. Copenhagen is a classic place to grab a bite or a bit of coffee and pastry or dessert. It's a great place to sit and people watch. "Do you want it or not!" Is all the manager would say to me. I ordered a pink cake with gold lettering, And definitely no roses for my wife's birthday. Instead I got this monstrosity. When I expressed this to the manager. The manager refused to even give me a decent discount on this gigantic mistake. Her options were you get a 10% discount ($ 4.00) Don't take the cake at all. (Ridiculous option considering I ordered it the night before for a morning pick up for an afternoon party.) Or come back at 3 for a replacement. Make it make sense, cake cutting is at 1pm. Hence the early pick up time. So understandably i'm angry. Mostly because the actual manager could care less and only offered up a nonsense discount or go home with nothing. Customer care clearly doesn't matter here. I only wanted a reasonable discount for this huge mistake and she absolutely refused. I hope the owners are reading this. This is my go to location for all special occasions and this manager is doing a great job of not taking care your loyal customers. Safeway is up the street with 20 dollar cakes and they get the order right. Her employee who could not follow directions is also at fault here but she seemed well insulated by the manager. I was treated like I was the problem even though the mistake was theirs. My advice to you the customer. Any custom cake you order there make sure to take the slip where the order is being jotted down and double and triple check it yourself that it is correct. We ordered a Chicken Ceasar salad and a Cobb Salad. Both were not good. The chicken were strips of dry meat. We found brown pieces of lettuce in the greens. We had two glasses of iced water and there were little black particles floating around in the water. We asked for two glasses of ice and we added the water. The particles were from the ice. This could possibly be mold within the ice chest and needs to be cleaned. We spent $45 on this food. We will not be returning. read more

I love this place and think they have the BEST pastries, cookies, and cakes in the Bay Area. Their princess cake is a must for family birthdays and celebrations. I recently visited to pick up a few sweets and have lunch. I ordered a club sandwich and the turkey in my sandwich was covered in a clear jelly that absolutely grossed me out. There was no price tag in each item but generally was very affordable (less than 10 each for a big piece of napoleon and princess cake). Had to try out Semla (Swedish snowman looking bread with fresh cream/almond paste inside) as soon as we got the bread for curiosity. It was not comparable to the authentic real semla I had in Sweden but fulfills the flavors, with that fresh cream, cardamom, and almond jam. The bread was a bit dry and wish it was freshly baked. This place has the advantage of being the only Danish bakery I'm aware of on the peninsula, but it's my favorite! I come here every time I come to Burlingame, and my favorite items here are the napoleon hat, almond horns, and the Sarah Bernhardt. I love almond flavored pastries and anything marzipan, so I always love danish baked goods. It has definitely gotten more expensive over the years but since it's the only place I know for danish goods I still come here. Prices are not listed but it's usually around $5-7 per item I believe, and $7 for the baguettes. I got a Dutch crunch baguette last time and it was really delicious, flavorful bread. There's also a cafe portion with food for lunch and dinner which I've had once, and the sandwiches were fine, but I really come here for the baked goods. Lots of indoor seating and some outdoor tables. Service is friendly and packages the baked goods with care. Definitely recommend checking this place out for danish pastries and cakes! read more

Had lunch there a month ago mid-week and the place was crowded. Luckily, I was able to order quickly and get a table. I have only eaten there for breakfast and had not tried lunch. I went with one their specials, a chicken sandwich and fries. It was quite good and I never thought of them as a good sandwich place. I will have to remember them whenever I am in downtown Burlingame. Another note, they have an excellent selection of brewed coffee. We stopped by here after a morning appt at UCSF around the corner from Burlingame Ave. This Bakery & Cafe seems pretty large, and it is divided into a bakery section on one side and cafe section on the other. It was confusing at first with multiple doors. Plenty of seating inside, and lots of seating outside on the sidewalk. It's a pretty chill environment in the morning. You don't feel rushed at all. The vibe : just relax, read a book, look out the window, or meet up with friends for coffee or meal. And there's a spacious restroom in the back. No diaper changing area, however I appreciate the door hook for hanging purses. The bakery section has lots of display cases showing off cakes, pastries, etc. You will be overwhelmed browsing through their offerings. So here's the weird thing I noticed. Price is not labeled on anything here. Another thing is the Beverages Sign on the wall behind the counter (see photo) lists the usual espresso drink you'd expect to find, and again, there are no prices listed. I picked up a Strawberry Muffin and a Cappuccino. I don't know what each one cost individually. I only know that I was charged $9.50 for both. The cost is not what bothers me. It's the lack of transparency on their pricing. I was looking forward to this sweet treat & morning caffeine. Unfortunately, the Strawberry Muffin was unremarkable. There are a few strawberries visible on top, but none on the inside (see photo). The inside is cake-like with not one strawberry inside. This was disappointing. The cappuccino looked more promising. There was good foam on top! But when I reached the coffee underneath, I found it to have a burnt bitter taste. It was undrinkable. Is this why they give you sugar? I normally drink my cappuccinos without any added sugars. Adding this packet of sugar did not help improve the coffee. read more

Come for the cake - forgo the rest of the menu! We came for brunch today after noticing just about every other place was packed. That's not to say that Copenhagen was empty but there was definitely a little more breathing room. I ordered the pancake combo and a latte and yikes, the latte was a shot of burnt espresso in a cup of milk. Like, you could taste the smokiness burnt. I would never serve that. The breakfast plate was decent though. Pancakes were smaller than most but it had that nice fluffy yet chewy texture. The bacon was thick and griddled just right to be crisp yet meaty and my favorite part was the fried medium egg. This one was cooked perfectly. It had that satisfying crispy edge with a still runny yolk - tasty! We also had some omelettes on the table but the egg looked way too thick and less like a nice eggy wrap. We also asked to sub some toast with a danish but it wasn't until long after we left that we realized we never got the danishes! Bummer! read more

The lady at the bakery was cordial and there was no other interactions with staff as we bussed our own table. There is outdoor dining and a dining room to the right of the restaurant entrance. There is also a separate entrance for the bakery though the spaces are connected. Very generous in size and could not finish it all but not enough to bother with a box. The salad dressing is different every time I order this salad! After lunch I wandered to the bakery for a few cookies to take home and 6 were $18. Very fresh and delicious. Parking was very difficult and with a two hour meter leaves no time to shop or browse. We walked in on the cafe side of Copenhagen, ordered at the counter, got our order number and found a table for 2. I went with ham & eggs ($15.49) and that comes with hash browns & buttered toast. The scrambled eggs were good, the ham steak was nice & smoky, the hash browns were thin & crispy just the way I like it. Buttered toast for breakfast with jelly was perfect. My lady ordered eggs benedict ($17.45) and thats come classically with canadian bacon. She liked it. It was a perfect breakfast for us on that Sunday morning. It was a hectic and busy that morning so I feel for the staff. One thing, I would prefer is pets be at the outside dining area. It's tight quarters in the dining room and someone brings a decent sized dog, it's certainly disruptive. There is more than enough tables for sidewalk seating. Strolling around downtown Burlingame & we've decided to eat at which restaurant can seat us the soonest. No regrets because to this day, I still think of the chicken marsala meal I had here.
