    Mocha crunch cake

I ordered a mocha crunch cake for birthday. Price was reasonable. They were nice to give a happy birthday ornament and some extra crunch toppings. Overall the cake had a variety taste.

I first tried Claire's Crunch Cake at a 2025 Friendsgiving and immediately knew it would be the perfect choice for Christmas dessert. Claire offers four different flavors: lemon, mocha, strawberry, and pineapple. Food 6" Lemon Crunch Cake - $40 A two-layer lemon cake with lemon filling, paired with a bag of lemon-flavored crushed honeycomb to sprinkle over the frosted cake. Light, citrus flavor profiles, and refreshing. 6" Mocha Crunch Cake - $35 A two-layer mocha cake with mocha filling, accompanied by a bag of original honeycomb crunch pieces for topping. A good balance of sweetness and subtle mocha flavor. Between the two, the lemon crunch cake stood out for its citrus-forward icing. Neither cake was overly sweet and packaged in a white cake box with clear windows to easily see the cakes. The recommended approach to sprinkle the crush honeycomb on the cake is the following: Place a sheet of foil or parchment paper underneath the cake, set the cake on top, then pour the crushed honeycomb onto the foil around the base. Gently press the honeycomb against the sides while rotating the cake in a circular motion until the exterior and top are fully coated. Customer Service Although Claire's Crunch Cake is active on Instagram (@clairescrunchcakes), she does not take orders via DM or text. All orders must be placed by calling (650) 344-8690. I called and placed my order which was arranged to be picked up the day before Christmas Eve. When I arrived, several customers were already lined up along the walkway in front of the home. Once I was at the front door, an employee asked what the order name was under and what was ordered. My order was retrieved and I provided the cash. The employee explained the differences between the two cakes. Only cash is accepted as the payment method. Note: During holidays, there may be specific pick-up windows. Ambiance The scheduled pick ups are at a single-family home in San Mateo. A flag banner on the front porch displays the menu with 6" and 8" sizes and cake options. Location / Parking The home is nestled on a narrow residential street with very limited parking. Luckily, I found a spot directly across the street before a wave of holiday customers arrived.

I can be kidnapped with the promise of dessert. As we drove through the unfamiliar suburbs of San Mateo, my companion asked, "Where the hell are you taking us?" Duh. To get cake. I'll go anywhere for cake. My longtime Yelp bookmark Claire's Crunch Cake bakes & sells out of a house. I called before stopping by & was soon engaged in the deal of the century: $35 cash in exchange for a 6" mocha crunch cake. The yellow cake is a bit dense & not as moist as other crunch cakes I've had, but the mocha flavor is pronounced & the honeycomb bits & pieces really make the cake unique. It's not as good the next day, as the honeycomb flattens out. Just another reason to give into my addiction & finish off the cake the same day I buy it.

My friend posted a Strawberry Crunch Cake from Claire and I just had to try it. It was a little difficult to get my order in. She only takes orders on a landline and her voicemail is always full. I called every day for a week before I was able to get a hold of Claire. It was worth the effort. Everyone loved the cake, even my mom who is tough to please. She had 3 slices so that tells you how good Claire's cakes are. Be aware that you need to eat it within the same day because the honeycomb gets mushy the next day. Can't wait to order again!

Claire makes a fantastic crunch cake that is moist, tasty, full of flavor, and given that extra crunch we love. Her cakes rank 5 stars. We are particular about our cakes. I'm a fair baker and love to eat. Try her cakes. Great service. Cakes were available on time and the presentation was excellent. The Professor

Hell yeah I recommend this business. The cakes are fantastic Of course you know to try their phone line in the morning and keep trying so you can get a cake reserved. I love the lemon crunch cake. I follow Grub with Mike and instantly knew I had to try this. The cake is moist and the lemon isn't too overpowering. My family loved this cake so much that it has to be a special occasion order next time!

So delicious and so friendly! That pretty much sums up Claire's Crunch Cake. Picked up a cake for my father's birthday and he absolutely loved it, because it brought back memories of cakes he had growing up in SF. The cake is moist inside and the crunchy bits on the outside are so tasty. As far as cakes go, this one is in a class of it's own.

My sister went through great lengths to get this cake for me for my birthday. This is the cake you never knew you needed! Actually, I've had this cake before from a bakery in Japantown, SF. I remember it being good... but not "finish the entire cake by yourself good". That may or may not have happened. Either way, I'm told the woman who bakes these cakes is in her 80s! Kudos to her! I've had a small cake business in the past, and I know how hard it is to churn out cake after cake! The cake was super soft and crumbly (in a good way), the frosting was almost like a light whipped frosting, with whole strawberries!she gives you specific instructions on how to cut the cake. If there are left overs, it won't hold up well... so do yourself a favor and make sure you're getting the right size cake! We got a 6inch and it was more than enough for 4 adults and 2 children. Thanks for making my bday cake Ms. Claire! I'll be ordering cakes from you exclusively! P.S. this is not a bakery, it's run out of this sweet old woman's house. Since the "crunch" part of the cake is honey comb, it doesn't hold up well for very long... so don't be late picking up your cake!

Tried Claire's Crunch Cake and it absolutely lived up to the hype. I ordered the 6-inch strawberry crunch cake, and it was perfect from start to finish. The cake itself was moist and fluffy, layered with just the right amount of cream, and the strawberry flavor tasted fresh. Not overly sweet or artificial. The crunch topping is what really makes it stand out, adding great texture and a nostalgic strawberry shortcake vibe in every bite. Portion size was ideal for a small celebration, presentation was clean and beautiful, and it tasted just as good as it looked. You can tell a lot of care and quality goes into their cakes. If you're a strawberry lover or just want a solid, crowd-pleasing cake, this is a great choice. Will definitely be back to try more flavors.

Yum - what a delicious cake! I won't lie, it's pretty darn hard to order since she doesn't always pick up and there's no store front. But it's SO WORTH IT. The crunch is almost like a softer, spongier toffee brittle. The inside is just perfect. Fresh, moist, and springy with fresh fruit or cream filling that's the perfect sweetness. I've tried almost every cake in San Mateo and below, and this is one of the best!

The long drive is worth it. You can request to separate the crunch when you're having a long drive! The best cake and they are really nice.

Mocha crunch cake is the best. Service is really good and very accommodating on our additional order.

    Daniel L.

Ordered Claire's crunch cake and got the strawberry one. These cakes are quite hefty and very dense. The crunch part of itself is pretty sweet however, it balance as well with the rest of the cake that is not as sweet. The strawberry frosting inside did not really taste as much strawberries as I would've liked, but that's fine. I also really like the giant full strawberries inside of the cake. The cake was moist and delicious. It is definitely a good idea to try to eat as much as the cake as you can because the next day the crunch pot melts. I would recommend people to try this and would like to try the mocha flavor next time.

Thank you for the AMAZING cake!!! I have had Claire's Crunch Cakes in my bookmarks for a long time and just hadn't had a chance to try it. I wasn't sure how to order so on a previous birthday celebration, I tried calling but I couldn't get a hold of anyone and their VM was full (must be very high demand)! I didn't want to just show up since I had no idea how it worked and whether they would have any cakes without ordering ahead. The next time someone's birthday was coming up I decided I wanted to surprise them with this cake but wanted to be sure I could get my hands on one so I called in about a month ahead, this time a gentleman answered and we got all the details down. On the day of pick up, I arrived and you can immediately smell the goodness from outside! Sadly, they said they didn't have my name down for an order? The gentleman said no problem, they have people show up without an order all the time, although his advice is calling in about a week ahead to ensure everything is set for time of pick up. They asked me if I was okay with waiting about 10 minutes so I did. I am glad that it worked out because the cake was really good! The crunchy pieced are perfectly sweet and salty, they compliment the buttercream and the very rich cake very well! I'm not sure how long they keep that texture as the gentleman did advise to eat the cake as soon as possible, as the crunchy pieces likely won't stay fresh overnight. I did try some right away and then had some more a few hours later and the texture remained great even after a few hours! I will definitely return again-also now I know the whole shpiel with how to order, so I am excited to celebrate future birthdays with Claire's cakes!

Lemon flavor is strong but not overwhelming. The sugar glaze makes it a bit sticky and counteracts the tart lemon tang. * Cinnamon roll- *only sold on sundays* This was delicious! The cinnamon roll is light with a crisp exterior and delicate notes of cinnamon spread throughout the pastry. The cream cheese frosting is decadent and creamy. Its a good ratio and doesn't feel too heavy to eat by yourself. * Salmon scone- I ordered this because I was craving something savory. It was pretty small so no more than a few bites. The bagel seasoning on top adds texture and grainy salt bits. The salmon is soft and smoky. It was good but compared to the other pastries, it didn't stand out to me. * Caramel latte (hot) - it was lightly sweetened, with balanced coffee flavor and milk. The coffee isn't too acidic and very easy to drink. I like that the drink wasn't too sweet so you could enjoy the pastries together. Bonjour Bakehouse stands out for their wonderful selection of high quality pastries and solid coffee options. If you're looking for overly sweet specialty coffee, I would look elsewhere. I also wanted something the kids/guests enjoyed and something different so I decided to see if I could add vanilla ice cream to the cake, and they said, "Of course! We haven't done this before but I think that would taste good." And lo and behold, it was amazing- it was a hit with the birthday boy and the guests as well. Their carrot cake is amazing (moist and not too sweet) and they helped with my crazy questions and ideas along the way. I will def go back to have them create my cakes for other occasions! I've previously come here for their ice cream and smaller desserts, which were all great. The service is friendly and quick. Very clean and some seating inside, tho we always just pick up and take items to go.

I'm also not a huge frosting person, and I believe the cream was buttercream, which was probably the biggest downside for me. It wasn't overly sweet, but the consistency was just too thick for both my husband and me. I even tried leaving it out for over an hour to see if it would soften, but it remained dense. I do wish there were more fruit in the filling. It was mainly cream and a few berries. We sliced the cake on Saturday, and by Monday the exposed part of the cake from where it was cut had become pretty dry. I ended up cutting off the dry outer layer, but thankfully the inside was still moist, so I was able to enjoy the rest of the cake. Ordering through Square was easy. I ordered the 4-inch cake with a marble design, matcha cake, strawberry cream, and strawberries. One thing to note is that if you order the 4-inch cake, there wasn't a section to add custom text. You'll need to email or call them with your order number to let them know what you want written on the cake. Overall, the highlight of the cake was definitely the cake itself. The moisture and strong matcha flavor really stood out and were my favorite parts. If I were to order from this bakery again, I'd probably try a different filling and cream because the buttercream just wasn't for me, but that's more of a personal preference.

Maison Alyzée is a French fine pastry bakery café located on downtown Burlingame's main strip. Dedicated to providing customers with a Parisian escape through handcrafted elegant pastries and artisanal breads, the bake shoppe doubles as pâtisserie and boulangerie, priding itself on meticulous attention to detail. Upon entry, we were welcomed by a brightly lit and very clean venue. Ray and I were immediately drawn to the beautiful marble-topped white counter that encased a gorgeous variety of exquisite treats. The commitment to the elegance of French culture and modern creativity were evident in every luxurious pastry and cake on display. Maison Alyzée is an order-at-the-counter establishment, so we made our purchase with a friendly staff member at the register. Unfortunately, we were told that espresso drinks were no longer available that night since the staff had already begun cleaning the machines. Ok....I never understand businesses that start shutting down things before closing time. This just shows customers that team convenience of closing shop quickly takes precedence over customer experience, essentially omitting availability of items from the menu while they are still open. For this reason, I am docking a star. Luckily, they still had some cold brew available, so I ordered a Lavender Cold Brew with oat milk. Heads-up: Plant-based milks like almond and oat milk incur a $0.75 surcharge. I wish that the lavender was more like a simple syrup, so that the flavour was sweeter and less sharp. Maison Alyzée also offers a selection of breakfast, lunch, and brunch options. I definitely need to return to try one or two or a few of their ostentatious delights.

I visited Maison Alyzee in Burlingame on a Saturday morning, and while the pastries were good, the service felt cold and dismissive. There was no rush, yet the staff was not warm or welcoming. I asked for my raisin au pain to be warmed up, and after waiting outside for about 10 minutes with no update, I went back in to ask. The response was "It's in the oven" was delivered rudely, as though my simple question was an inconvenience. Even when a café is busy, basic courtesy and communication should not be optional. Good food deserves to be matched by good hospitality.
