We were driving by and craving pizza, so we stopped in on the recommendation of my son's girlfriend, who worked here a few years ago. Glad we did! Service was friendly and quick. There's indoor and outdoor seating--we sat inside. We ordered garlic knots (3), a slice of cheese, and two slices of Margherita pizza. Which were quickly warmed up for us. On another sunny outing my friend and I came in to treat ourselves to some garlic knots. I'm not sure how to express how ridiculously good these knots are... A Must Have, or don't, I'd gladly take them all The guy behind the counter was Dope! Quick service, and friendly. We usually sit outside but decided to sit at the bar, which I'm glad we did. We basically got front row seats to the Garlic Knot Show. We also decided to split a slice of the "Rules are Meant to be Broken". That crunchy, cheese crispy corners are lovely and satisfying. I haven't had the sopressata slice before and I think it's my new fav. Overall it was a fun filled sunny afternoon eating the best pie in town and having a nice cold quenching beer to go with it. I heard about this pizza place and they pretty much have good food here. They say that their garlic knots are popular, which I did not have yet. Since it's my first time going here, I decided to try their pizzas first. The pizza is amazingly delicious along with the root beer they offer us. Unlike Pizza My Heart, they also serve squared slices, which are smaller than the regular ones. It's $4-5 per slice, which is very reasonable priced considering the size of those pizzas (not the squared ones). The place is very small. Not scenic, but a good place to hangout with your friends for a short time. I also asked them for my pizza for here, but mistakenly put it as it togo , but that's no issue. This is the Tony's Slice House of the East Bay. The pizza is phenomenal and so glad I found it. I will definitely take the 15m drive from albany when I'm craving "the good shit". It's not really east coast style, it's pretty much Tony G style. Great selection of Russian River taps. Ambiance is fine. Not a romantic evening kind of a spot, more of a quick slice spot. Only bummer about the place is that it's mostly a lunch spot and closes pretty early (7 or 8 depending on the day). Prices are very reasonable for pizza of this quality. read more

Super fresh and tasty pie. I love a good slice house, and Raymond's has a good variety of options to choose from. Got the margherita and a spicy slice, was not disappointed. Also snagged some garlic knots to share, as they were fresh out of the oven, highly recommended move if you're lucky enough to catch them that fresh. After reading a review by Gina G. , we decided to take the 50 minute round trip drive to revisit Raymond's. Her review was cheerful and spot on. My review- curmudgeoney and spot on. PHOTO #... 1) Excited to come back and try Raymond's after about four years. ---- Nobody greets you as you enter. No "Hello!" or "Welcome!" . We get in line with the other sheep. ---- 2) Pizza by the slice is ordered at the counter. It's precooked and gets reheated when ordered. The metal chairs and tables in the back and outside are reminiscent of eating at a Costco. Nothing to entice one to get up and buy more $8 beers from their nice beer selection. ---- 3) Some crust was overcooked and too dry. The reheated food was OK to the taste but nothing to brag about. When it begins to cool it has the texture of what it is. Reheated food. 4) The garlic bread is served steaming hot with a small container of refrigerated cold pizza sauce. A bad heat and cold pairing. The bread gets tough when it cools. Eat quickly. 5,6) Slices of pizza served on paper plates and waxed paper. All totaled. four slices of pizza, garlic bread, one coke and one beer. About $38. 7) The cashier\cook\janitor seemed too rushed. Napkins, straws (if any), condiments, cups (if any) were not at the tables. You need to search them out or ask the cashier- which made it a pain to finally sit down and eat. One worker eats behind the pizza boxes while he is preparing food. This is the second restaurant I won't go back to because of a cook chewing while cooking faux pas. And No, that is not his real face in the photo. 8) There is one variable sex bathroom. Fairly clean but bring your own seat liner. Pro Tip- Ask cashier for the secret access code to enter.. Notes The establishment is fairly clean except for the possible food prep eating incident. ----- Concerning Photo #4 - Arizmendi in Emeryville has a beautifully delicious method of half cooking a pizza and then finishing it off for the customer upon order being placed. Raymond's might look into this. ---- We bussed our own table. As we left, the two employees running the show were in a deep conversation, actively ignoring their paying customer's departure. I read about Raymond's on a Bay Area Reddit post. Being a diehard fan of Cheeseboard, Nabolom and Gioia, I was excited to try some gourmet pizza in my own city. We were not disappointed. I stumbled upon this casual but hip Pizzeria after a sauna session nearby over the weekend. Nearby options were either closed, too heavy, or too simple. I'm often amused by places that don't take themselves too seriously as they had a free Time Travel Consultation sign and offer free box with any purchase of a pizza lol, SOLD! - McMushroom: Garlic olive oil base, mozzarella & cremini mushrooms. Finished with ricotta, thyme, & white truffle oil. (You can add arugula for $2 extra) - Rules Are Meant to Be Broken: Our house pickled hot peppers on top of mozzarella & spicy marinara, spicy sopressatta, house infused picante olive oil. I noticed they had Sicilian style (square and thin-NOT DETROIT style) options for some the flavors. The crust was very flavorful and even after 5 hours our one left over slice was still soft!! I didn't realize they offered other items beyond pizza (sliders, salads, bruschetta) because I just ordered what I saw on the counter, which was mainly pizza. Even then, the menu is quite simple and not overwhelming. Now I wouldn't go out of my way to go here but I would say it beats some of the pizzerias I go to in the South Bay in terms of proper crispness, flavoring, and options. This is a great addition to the neighborhood. I love the aesthetic of the place. The staff were really welcoming and nice. You have the option to order slices or pie. I came here with a group, we ordered two pies. Most importantly the pizza is solid! As someone who lived in the NYC previously, I can honestly say that this is one of the best pizza places I've had in the Bay. The pizza dough perfectly crispy and thin, the crust was airy and light, the ingredients were fresh, and I really like the deep pepperonis. Not pictured: we also had a pizza with jalapenos on top. It's making the business look bad so if you see declining sales it's because of the people you employ. I've been a customer here for awhile now and regularly order the McMushroom pizza with sausage added. This last experience was completely disappointing. When I called in my order, the employee told me, "We don't do that." I explained that I've ordered it that way before. He then said he would have to charge me for each item separately and that it would be a "really, really expensive pizza," in a clearly condescending tone -- as if that was going to change my mind. Before I was even finished ordering, he abruptly gave me my total. When I asked for his name, he refused to provide it. After I asked him again he said his name was "Bob." totally made up. Like really guy? WTF is the point in making up a name? I didn't even care at first but when he started lying about his name thats what really made me upset. When I arrived to pick up my order, I asked the employee at the register if he was Bob. He smirked and said Bob had already left. When I told him I had just spoken to him, he then claimed there is no Bob who works there. After that, he said there used to be a Bob. The story kept changing. When I told him I recognized his voice, he then said his name was "Teddy." SMH. Which who knows if thats even true. Mid 40's white guy greyish mid length hair. After doing some research online to locate the owners email address, I saw that this pizzeria is owned by an ex skater. Based on publicly available photos, the individual I interacted with "Teddy" or "Bob" or whatever TF, appeared to resemble the owner. If that's the case, it's concerning for an owner to behave in such a dishonest, condescending, and unprofessional manner it is shocking and disgusting. If not, the issue remains the same and customers should not be treated this way. Charging premium prices does not excuse this behavior, giving condescending responses, and treating them disrespectfully. This experience was completely unacceptable and leaves me questioning the integrity of this establishment. read more

Being a family of Pizza snobs from NY. ( 47 years ago) This just might be my new favorite go to for pizza in East Bay ! The bottom crust was the perfect thickness and crisp . The cheese was really fine! And THe sauce was very tasty , just the right acidity and flavor. I give this first pizza 4.5 stars because of the big burntish bubbles of crust that rose up through the cheese in the middle of the pie. I personally would like the sauce spread out fully and evenly under the cheese to prevent the big crunchy empty bubbles in the middle of some of the slices . That was my only issue. Raymond, Raymond, Raymond. I don't agree that it's "amazing pizza". My guess is that a lot of folks who write in about this place haven't traveled far out of Point Richmond. This pizza is just OK. It's tasty and the ingredients are fresh. I'll even say that the dough is quality, but let's face it: It's incredibly bready, greasy, and could be a lot more fulfilling. I don't know anyone who wants to receive that much crust at the end of a slice and I've never seen anyone eat all of it because we all know it's wrong. There's enough of it that one could make a baguette-style sandwich for the next day (take a look at some of the photos). When I go out to pizza I don't like to F around and this place always makes me feel like I could have gone somewhere else. Ingredients-wise, I feel like they skimp on nearly everything, with the exception of jalepeños and pepperoni. Pepperoni is cheap and I don't need more of it in my life. They should offer more variety in the toppings, and more combinations for toppings in addition to putting more care into what goes on the pizza (sauces, cheeses, consistency, etc). I have not asked for sauce on the side, but I suppose you can do that... they need more of it on the pie. It's a dry, oily pie. I've grown super bored of the options they offer for takeaway slices. I love that they have good craft brew here, but the pizza doesn't hold a candle to it. I don't blame them for serving grandma pie (tradition) but I hate it with a passion because I don't believe that pizza sauce should be sweet. Anyway, I always end up feeling underwhelmed. read more
